      Found this out the hard way. Bought one $30 and two $50 gift cards. Tried it online for it to not work, so went to a JB Hi-Fi store and bought a $130 JB gift card with my Ultimate Kids gift cards. Got the $13 discount in the end haha

  • So I've had a Logitech G19 for many years. Have never once configured a macro key and the screen was never used as much as I'd like. I've wanted to upgrade to a mechanical for some time but have really just never gotten around to it as it still does the job. As this purchase would be rather impulsive at this time of year, does this keyboard shine above the rest at all making it actually worthy of dropping the cash? Would not be used for gaming.

      I had the G19 before I "upgraded" to the MX Blue keys over a year ago, loved it so much I bought the MX Red keys for work, then I just bought this last week from Umart. I wouldn't recommend if you are not going to use for gaming, the keys are easily activated and will require "getting" used to it you plan to do lots of regular typing.

  • So i received mine today… they sent me the wrong keyboard…

    It says "per key red backlighting" on the box with no mention of it being RGB.

      • Worst comes to worst, request that they honour the purchase and send the LUX version instead I say… I prefer the LUX version anyway.

        • @Hayness: lol, honestly i'm not sure if they are allowed. I asked over the phone if they have one and if they are able to exchange, the guy agreed to leave the item behind the counter for me but didn't say anything about the exchange… fingers crossed.

    • Got mine today and also got red backlight on the box. :( will go to local store tomorrow to see what they can do. Might ask for lux if they don't have rapidfire rgb. A bit annoyed

      • Yup, got mine in store. using it now, it's pretty good. Still prefer cherry red more but it feels about the same.

        Got onto a store manager and he basically said we just just have to wait. Ordering online unfortunate meant stock is treated differently than to the store stock and it's managed by a dedicated team.

        This same team are also the ones getting your email
        I guess we just vs ave to wait.

    Hey guys just a heads up.

    Order was still sitting at processing so i called my local jb and asked if they could kindly fill the order locally. They did and im picking it up in store after work. Even got the delievery refunded!

    Hey guys so just wanted to inform you guys that I called a few of my local jb stores till I got someone who was kind enough to transfer the order into their store.

    I had a chat to him at the store and he said that the online team messed up big with this order and they're are currently 150 back-orders. So if yours hasn't been shipped yet you may be waiting a while

    Just called up and each store manager said they would be fine with transferring it to their store but need to call the online store first to get them to do it. They both got told no. Apparently they are receiving stock next weekend to the warehouse and will ship it off then.

    So looks like we will be waiting at least 2 weeks….

    • That's a good news to me at least they will fulfill the orders. (Unlike my previous Harvey Norman cancelled orders.)

    • Mine still say Status "In Progress". They might be from China, but considering how slow local shipping is I doubt it.

  • Mine was still "In Progress" but ended up going to my local JB and asked them to fulfil the order in store as they had stock. They called up head office and got them to refund the delivery charge through paypal and I walked away with the keyboard.

  • I paid with guest checkout and Paypal, hadn't received an email confirmation from JB themselves. Did get the usual Paypal transaction email which included a JB invoice #.

    Called a local JB, the guy there was helpful enough to call their online fulfillment department and confirmed that the keyboard had shipped. Provided a tracking code with Toll which I tried after the phone call - unfortunately it doesn't work. I'm pretty confident it did ship though, so I'll wait a couple days.

  • Just got it. Software is pretty cool. Keys felt a lot more mushy compared to my previous cherry mx blue switches. However the actuation point is a lot higher meaning there is way more potential to type quicker as you barely have to tap a key for it to activate. Probably takes a while to get used to. Already did a speed test and went from 85 -> 98 in the 2 tests I did so I'm essentially back to normal with potential to go even faster. So pretty happy with it, anything that can make me type faster is a bonus. Plus it is quieter.
    Only thing I'll miss I guess is the better feeling when pressing down a key using MX blue switches but I reckon it's worth the sacrifice if it means I can type quicker.

  • Yay, I've just received it yesterday and only got to play around with it today.

    Here's my impression: To me, these rapidfire switches are mostly a gimmick. The shorter actuation distance definitely won't make any difference (in terms of speed) for me when typing vs red, since I always bottom out the switches so it doesnt matter when it registers. The much shorter actuation distance also makes it very prone to typo's when you are resting your finger on the keyboard or moving from key to key, as even the slightest pressure will register. Blue is still the best for typing IMO, much more satisfying and less typo's. But aren't very good for games because of the significant reset distance.

    As for gaming, it remains to be seen but i really don't think the slightly shorter actuation distance is going to make much difference. There just doesn't seem to be the perfect all rounder switch in my books, red or black switch seem like the best middle ground to me.
