  • Same with mine…it says "processed at Hong Kong" as the last status…most likely it will be delivered 3-Jan…I can live with that, no dramas.

    • I wouldn't be complaining at all with that result
I have the same will be delivered by 5pm 3/1/2017
In between public / new years holidays thats exceptionally bloody good for DHL
and given I have always had no issues with customs and DHL I can live with this small delay :)

I am keen as to try this Mimax out
The galaxy s7 edge had being the biggest POS with this purple screen issue, sent back to eglobal for repair, whats the bet they try and worm their way out
even the rep here won't reply to me, I will be fighting dont worry about that

Worst case I'll convert to the MiMax and get the s7 returned and sold off

  • The charger that comes with the original packaging of Mi Max is only 5V 2Amp, though it supports Quick Charge QC3.0.
    https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list
Now, we need to look for a good bargain…

  • The supplier is processing your order
Is anyone else getting this ?

    • nope, mines out for delivery by 3/1/2017 with DHL
pretty good considering all the public holidays around this time of year
5 business days is excellent from purchase to in my hand

    • I ordered a Mi max real early in the sale and DHL tracking says it's cleared customs.

I ordered a mi5 a about 12 hours later and stupidly forgot DHL. So I purchased the DHL shipment seperate and have sent them constant messages but have heard SFA. Still sitting at the supplier is processing your order. They are bad at replying to order messages.

  • So it has departed HK…should be here by Tuesday hopefully

    • Should be twister, DHL and customs is usually good, never had too many dramas

  • Mine's now at "customs status updated" and under further information it says

    *Further Detail
Shipment has been given a release by Customs.

    Next Step
Unless there is an adhoc exam or a stop by another regulatory authority the shipment will proceed to delivery*

    • where are you located twister
Mine is still showing left HK
      May not of updated
      ETA 3/1/2017

  • BTW, anyone who are going to unlock bootloader and rood Mi Max, pls let me know for the link to do,
found many from whirlpool, Miui community, not sure which one is working without brick, thanks,

    • You'd be best to request an unlock using Xiaomi's official unlocking tool before trying unofficial methods.

      • I did and got permission, but not sure which way is best way to root, cheers

    • +1

I won't be doing anything than keeping official bootloader and software on the unit
You can't "brick" most devices if you follow the instructions

Also Whirlpool is full of useless clowns, you are better off using XDA forums for actual "support" and assistance with the device processes

      • I need to install foreign font and that's why I have to root, otherwise I won't,

        • Ask the XDA forums would be your best bet, pretty sure keyboards and language doesn't need root access but then again I don't really fiddle around with the phone apart from make calls / send messages and facebook

Good luck though, I believe once you unlock bootloader, any software changes instantly voids any support from the seller / Xiaomi directly

  • My current status is — Delivery arranged no details expected BRISBANE - AUSTRALIA 08:12

I will say its due to the public holiday today
will find out in the morning the next step

Most likely will be Tuesday for Delivery which is what the ETA was

    Impressed with DHL shipping times

  • +1

My phone arrived this morning. It came with a different adapter though. Comes with a screen protector and clear case which is nice.

    • DHL delivers on a public holiday?

      • +1

Yeah and weekends too I believe. Best express service in the world.

I need to find a custom ROM for the Redmi Note 4 though.. default OS is a nightmare. Cant even choose Australia as your country and restrictions are horrible.

        • Wow.. where are you? Mine is showing up as arrived at the delivery centre at 5.26 this morning.

        • @Vladdo: Melbourne outer suburbs. Came at 10am

        • @Mysterious: far out.. I'm about a 15 min drive from the DHL depot in Derrimut/Laverton..

  • +1

The Redmi Note 4 is a steal. Literally shocked at how a phone like this goes for $193. Extremely fluid, vibrant screen, sleek design, great camera for the average user.

    I'm using Nova Launcher Prime.

  • +1

    Do these have malicious firmware?

Wondering whether we have to flash official firmware once we receive it or is it safe out of the box?

    • +2

It's safe out of box! Seems to have the International ROM flashed on.

      • +1

        Awesome thanks :)

    • +1

      No, international rom loaded
      fine

  • +2

I've been using my Xiaomi Mi5 for about 2 hours now. Super chuffed with the performance and design! The phone is lighting fast and looks very Samsung Galaxy 6-like. I'm impressed by the accuracy of the fingerprint sensor and the audio volume. Going to a party this arvo so going to test out its battery then. Happy that I found this deal :-)

  • +2

    My Mi Max arrived today
My only gripe was the sim adapter was a POS and broke before I could get my sim into the phone
Luckily the tray was out when it decided to do that
    32gb / 3gb
already had an update out of the box, seems okay so far, its a bloody big phone lol

  • +1

Mi5 arrived today, came with all the gifts and stuff good packaging
    very happy!

  • +2

My Mi5s plus came in this morning. I ordered the charge pack so I was wondering what does it come with. Charging the phone now so I can't say anything yet but everything looks great so far.

  • Received both Mi Max today via DHL, updating the firmware to latest Mi OS.

Confirmed the Mi Max I've got don't support QC3.0!

    • Mine does
Charged in under 2 hours from 2%
      Anker 18w charger

  • Did everyone else's arrive with an older ROM version (V8.0.2.0)?

If they flashed the phones beforehand, I would've thought they'd just flash to the latest, no?

    • Had your package been opened or was it sealed?

      • Opened.

        • I'd say they would have mass installed your global version on a bulk order of phones. It only takes a quick click for you to update now as all the hard work has been done getting it there. From memory 8.1 is only weeks old.

    • Nope, mine come with 8.1 preloaded already
      Mi-Max 32GB/3GB
Box wasn't sealed but I don't think they could seal the unit etc

I know customs checked it though because they put a slit in the DHL packaging and it was pretty obvious

Happy with it so far, 18 hours with 9hours SOT and still got 43%

4G speeds on Telstra are around 120mbit in my area down and 50mbit up
Nothing to complain about for a 250 dollar device

  • Any one else who still hasn't had theirs sent?
Mine still hasn't been sent and no reply from seller.

Would have bought DHL but i am zoned rural and would have cost me a fortune to freight it.

    • Neither has mine nor reply thru message awaiting shipment 5 days left

If I new it was gonna take this long just to ship it out would of went dhl by the looks of things gonna take more then a month now Chinese new year is around the corner :(

This is what I'm getting. Standard shipping. It was stuck at "have over to airline" for ages. Started moving today. I feel like they have a million steps though. So I'm not sure if it's on the plane or not.

      • FWIW, I chose standard shipping here's what I've got for a RN3Pro

        2017.01.03 13:28 (GMT-7): Outbound in sorting center
        2017.01.03 13:19 (GMT-7): Notification of shipment confirmation
        2017.01.03 12:58 (GMT-7): Inbound in sorting center
        2017.01.03 12:49 (GMT-7): Accepted by carrier
        2017.01.03 03:00 (GMT-7): Hand over to airline
        2017.01.03 02:28 (GMT-7): Received by line-haul
        2016.12.29 10:32 (GMT-7): Waiting for pick up

My Mi5 order hasn't been updated since purchase.

    • Well mine just shipped this morning,
But hasn't been picked up yet, so no doubt will be Late Jan, Early Feb before I get it.

  • I've received Mi Max in lunch time, pretty impressive with Xiaomi built,
but funny, I can't see Australia and choose in Android setup,
did it happen to you as well for Max owner ?
    cheers

    • +1

Yeah.. Just select HK or Singapore

Likewise I'm impressed and very happy with mine. Doubt I'll be paying big sums for flagships.

  • +1

My item not yet shipped ordered on 27th Dec Morning..Tried contacting seller 4 days ago who claims the Post office on holidays for 3 days hence delay..Tried contacting them again yesterday evening same story from them..Still no sign of shipping item nor refunding money back..Overall terrible experience.

    • Is this standard shipping or dhl?

    • Mine was sent today (DHL)

    • +1

Lol they told me money hasn't been transfered yet said normally takes 7 days wich i highley doubt that long money came out of my account instantly thru a visa transfer.
What usually happens when the timer goes down do we just usaulley get refunded because my ones got 3 days left some things telling me they didn't have the stock in the first place for the sale

      • i ordered a mi max early in the sale and got it already. ordered a mi5 about 10 hours after the mimax and it has not even been sent. makes no sense. Guess they have taken too many orders and are trying to find more stock to fill the orders by the auto cancel dates ?

        • +1

I ordered the mi max in the first 5 minutes of the sale and still waiting :(

  • +1

The seller gave all excuses and finally when i asked them to refund the money they changed the status to shipped..I ordered the item within first hour of the sale on 27th…From the tracking it still shows as awaiting pickup..Hopefully it doesn't take another 1 month to arrive from China as i used standard shipping.. May be lesson here is not to use standard shipping use only DHL..

    • Ditto with me with Mi Max. I bought two within 8 minutes, that's right 8 minutes of the offer going live. One got shipped the next day after the purchase but the other sat as not shipped so getting sick of the wait, I sent a message day before yesterday wanting to cancel but got a "just wait dear" message. They finally sent it out just now. Not happy at all as I won't get it before I probably leave for overseas now.
I wanted to cancel as I'm going to Singapore anyway and can buy this cheaper there. Now I'm in limbo land.

  • +1

I paid for DHL. Asked seller to ship asap so they issued a DHL tracking number that doesn't work. It's been two days and I know DHL doesn't take forever to update. I doubt they have the item to ship in the first place.

    • +1

They don't have stock which is why mine was held up too. Now because asked for a refund, they have marked it as shipped to get me off their back.

      • +1

Exactly what's happened to me. I bought another xiaomi a few months back, different seller. same thing happened. It took them about 5 days to actually ship it.

        • +1

It's 10 days now since purchase and still no f#@k!n% stock.

Having owned the Mi5 for 4? days now I'm still undecided if I like the phone.

I hate the form factor. I've made a handful of calls on it and have twice turned off the phone without realising it. The power button is right where my index finger grips on. I'm not keen on physical button, my old phone had soft buttons. That said the 'back' button, you really have to push it for it to work. Also the touchscreen becomes non responsive from time to time. Perhaps it's a MIUI issue, I don't know. Turning the screen on and off fixes it. Whenever I tether or connect the phone to my PC, it constantly disconnects. A quick google shows it's a known bug in MIUI, apparently. Very frustrating.

There are a few things I do like tho. Speaker volume is loud, so much more than my old Xperia Z2. Camera quality seems pretty good given you use it in good light. MIUI seems pretty light, not that much bloat. Build quality looks good. Doesn't feel cheap or plastic'y.. The rounded back edges feel nice in the hand. The included 'free' case is ok, but the included screen protector seems a little too big which results in the edges peeling. I like the Marshmallow theme, everything seems nicely laid out.

Have yet to use the fingerprint scanner (I doubt I will, as I don't want that in the cloud somewhere) and have yet to try NFC.. I have a couple of digital cameras that use NFC so am keen to try that out.

    • You actually reckon they store your fingerprint data on a cloud? Not trying to be patronising, actually asking.

      • I don't doubt it for a second. Everything else is cloud sync, why wouldn't my finger print be as well?

      • Good question… Off to do some googling abt it

  • +1

has anyone managed to get them to actually reply to chat ? They just ignore me ?

With oder messages they take atleast 2 days to respond and its a generic copy and paste line of "we will ship as soon as we can" every time. Im sure they dont read what i have said.

So i have 3 days left before the order autocancels. Have people see them cancel before, or, do they wait to last minute and then mark as shipped even though it probably hasnt to avoid the cancel?

    • +1

      Mine only shipped this morning.
I ordered within the first couple of minutes, so it looks like they processed the orders backwards.

If it wasn't going to cost me $70 for DHL I would have ordered it with express.

  • +1

so i finally got a reply to my numerous questions asking why if they are in stock havent you sent it and the response was - "you all asked for global rom so it takes time to flash them"

still waiting for mine to be sent

    • +1

Mine got sent 3 days ago so they say truly doubt it

  • +2

Curious about overseas deliveries when ordering snail mail deliveries. (not speedy DHL ones) Specifically Amazon and these guys Aliexpress. My package has been reportedly in AU since the 7th but now it just sits there, in the sorting room until what? What initiates the next movement to where I am because often its as though it books a hotel room for a few days and then thinks, oh wait, i'm supposed to be in ADL. F#$%.

    Like, what's with the delay?

    • +1

Often once your items makes it to Australia, tracking stops. So it's likely to be delivered anytime given its been days ago. Though I just reread and 7th was only last Saturday. I'd expect it end of this week or early next.

  • +2

my standard shipping arrived yesterday. like yours, it was in Australia on the 7th. and like, PR0r said, there was no further tracking after that. it just arrived. so, I'm assuming you received it today or will receive it very soon.

    • +1

Oh good one. Mine hasnt arrived yet, possibly by the end of the week then.

    • Who actually delivers the parcel?AU post?

      • Yes, Australia post

        • I have received mine today too, still charging but I don't understand the 2 adapters that come with it, both have no USB port and not Australian power socket compatible. What about yours?

Also, I cannot locate Mi Max user manual online, anyone has one to share?

        • OK, I found out how to use the adaptor now lol.

        • @yeuwen:

          lol you crack me up

        • Now I am having problem with the screen protector. Mine does not stick to the screen at all. Am I the only one encountering this problem?

        • @yeuwen:
Mine had the back and front labels incorrectly labeled. Might be that you're trying to stick the outer surface onto the screen

        • Thanks, you are right.

  • I have recived my Mi5 today. Looks like a great phone. One observation: when setting up, it asks you to chose the langugae and then Locale. Australia is not listed in the locale. I m not sure if this will have any implications on updates etc?

    • +1

Reading through Whirlpool threads, people use Singapore without dramas.

    • +2

Nothing to worry about. The locale at setup basically changes date format eg. DD/mm/yyyy
Singapore is a good choice :)
