These Hisense TVs keep getting cheaper and cheaper, and they're excellent TVs. Keep getting tempted each time I see these posts haha.

    • Ya for that price, why would we even pick a $600 half sized monitor for the same price…

      • +11

Lower input lag, higher refresh rate, faster response time, freesync/gsync, ultrawide, etc.

Also 50" screen <1m away might be too big for some people.

  • +11

Whirpool forum also has a link to download aussie firmware that enables HDR.Great tv just alittle slow to turn on and switch channels but besides that the audio and picture looks amazing.Love the remote.

  • +5

can anyone provide a comparison/review of this 55" vs the 58" posted earlier
obviously 3" and the $ difference, but what about features, picture quality, etc

    • The only differences I can find so far is the 3300UW is newer and supports HDR (sort of). It's a firmware downgrade of the 7 series, with a simpler stand/appearance.

      • +1

I cannot, but having bought one of these 55" i can recommend it as a superb bang for buck TV.

  • Dammit, really tempted!

    • I know! My 40" telly is way too small for my new lounge :(.

  • +8

TA, for the uninformed B&E is..?
    Cheers mate

    • +8

      My apologies. Business & Education.

        Harvey Norman. Professional shoppers division.

    • +23

Breaking & entering. All the deals are hot!

      • and FREEEE!

    • +4

      Bacon and Eggs…?

      I'm now hungry and disappointed.

  • Specs state "3840 x 2160" so not 'true' 4K.
    Good deal nevertheless, thanks TA!

    • eh? isn't that 4K?

      • +4

It's "UHD" (3840x2160) not DCI 4K (4096x2160) but nobody actually cares. UHD and 4K are the same thing for the average consumer. If you were into photography/cinematography it might matter to you.

      • +4

True 4K is 4096 horizontal pixels. Some projectors and other devices do this. Pretty irrelevant in this context though as most (all?) "4K" TVs are the same resolution as this.

        • +2

          True 4K

          Wth this is so confusing.

It's like how a few years back it was all about TV's either being HD or FULL HD.

          Seriously!?!!?!?!?

EDIT - ok so the main question is, can this TV support the Xbox One S (HDR)

        • +3

          @montorola:

can this TV support the Xbox One S (HDR)

          Appears so. See here…

    • +18

You're not helping anyone being a smart-ass. It's the exact same resolution as any other 4K television.

      • +1

I know it's common for non-4k to be advertised as 4k, but that doesn't make it 4k.
I actually read about this on ozbargain yesterday on a 4K monitor post and hoped to pass the knowledge on.

I appreciate posts by people such as TA helping us out by sharing deals like this, but not people [making false assumptions.] (http://www.lg.com/au/it-monitors/lg-31MU97)

    • +2

It's the consumer standard 4K. Even 4K Blu-Rays are encoded at 3840x2160. No consumer TV on the market properly displays 4096. It either squishes it, cuts it off, or letterboxes it.

  • Seems like a decent price for the AppleTV. Wondering if I need one if I already have Sony and Hisense SmartTVs. Besides mirroring from iDevices, are there any common apps that I can only get via AppleTV?

    • I've tried a couple on android - they're glitch. Apple TV just works a lot better.

  • This or the Hisense 58" for $100 bucks more?

    • +1

technically $20 more with the $80 gift card. sorry can't answer your question though.

      • Id go this one

        • Why?

        • Because i bought one and recommend it. The other one, NFI what it is, suspect its older/inferior.

  • +2

Can you use a HN gift card through B&E?

    • +2

Unfortunately not at this stage. Sorry.

      • Can we use CR account balance to pay part of it?

    • +2

You wanna use the HN gift card you bought with the AMEX deal last year don't you? You sly devil you… lol

  • +5

crossing fingers my old 50in plasma Panasonic dies

    • I know the feeling. Can't buy a new TV when the 50" plamsa is still reasonable. My 1 year old hit one of his toy trains on my Samsung 50" screen and broke it a few weeks ago so looking and buying one of these TV's :)

      • +3

        Good timing.

Yeah mine has copped a hammering from the kids but still going strong….. unfortunately

    • Just let me know your address mate, I'll steal it - same outcome ;)

      • +2

Good thinking. Or I'll give one of my kids some chocolate to throw toys at it while the wife is out

    • +4

Then you get the new TV and the old panny has a better picture..

      • +3

This is why im still keeping my viera

    • Mines still going strong but I can't justify moving it into the bedroom. Don't need 50in in the bedroom.

      • +1

        That's what she said.

  • +8

join ozbargain and save save save…. yeah right i'm going broke buying stuff i never know i needed… 5th TV for house…a must.

    • Like all the eneloops you didn't realise you "needed", let alone the SD cards stacked in a drawer somewhere and half a garage full of toilet paper so you actually park outside now. I know the feeling…

  • +1

In case you're wondering (like I was), "B&E" is "Business & Education".

I'm guessing it's a subset of the regular Harvey Norman range?

  • So tempting

  • +1

Does this have the same issues with logitech harmony remotes as some of the other Hisense TVs (dynamic input list)?

  • /cry just purchased it last weekend for $68 dollars dearer than this deal. doh!

    • +6

Yes but you've had a whole extra weeks viewing pleasure..

      • That is true :).

  • This is a great bang for buck TV. Got one for gf's folks 2 months ago.

    • Got one for the gf's folks 2 months ago.

I take it you'll be asking for her hand in marriage soon? :P

      • +7

I take it you'll be asking for her hand in marriage soon? :P

Waiting for eBay 20% off diamond rings + cash rewards.

  • hey TA - any ideas when this will expire? My parents looking for new tv in about 2 weeks

  • What is the process in firmware upgrading this to enable HDR? if possible its an amazing deal for $700

    • some info here: http://whrl.pl/ReNnfI and in the rest of the thread.
recommend you read the thread thoroughly to know what you are getting HDR-wise.

    • There is an Australian update when I read the thread. Although some people have commented the Europe update one is still better.

    • Fyi I updated mine. Pretty straightforward update with Australian firmware. You have to log a support ticket with hisense CS to get the emailed link though.

At the moment. Can't notice the difference because I don't have any devices that can play HDR. Maybe with Xbox Scorpio…

  • id rather the series 7

    • you can get 2 of these for the price of the 7 series.

      • Yep one for the shower and one for the toilet ;-)

Of course, my toilet is too small so i may have to put it on its side to fit it in.

        • Sitting sidesaddle on the toilet can be messy.

          Just a friendly warning :)

        • @THICKnSLOW:

Guess it comes out thick n slow? =p

  • +1

Can you upgrade the firmware on the 58" to enable HDR?

    • +1

I'd like to know this too. Also like to know if there is a fix for the aspect ratio I'm the media player.

      • According to the person I apoke to at hisense yesterday there isn't one, I'm using a htpc so im not that upset but if anyone finds anything I'd love to know.

  • Did they just increase the price to $795 ??

    • Looks like it to me, I ordered one about half an hour earlier and got it at $700

      • Wow … the offer didn't last very long. I guess this must be the "spot offer" for the day.

  • +2

while I was checking with my wife, price increased to $795 inc. GST

I am so proud of myself for saving $795 :)

    • +4

Now you'll have to spend it on her.

      My condolences =p

  • +2

    EXPIRED.
This is what happens when I have to work at work.

    • +1

My dilemma to buy or not to buy has been resolved.

  • Hisense TVs are sold out :(

  • Strange, prices for things such as apple tv jumped back up too? No longer $215

    • You gotta be quick.

  • +4

So I saw this deal online before i got in my car and thought I'd buy the tv when I got home. By the time i got home the prices went up. I went to JB HI FI and they price matched the deal including free delivery. I ended up getting two years extended warrantee on top of the usual hisense 3 years for an additional $60. The Harvey Norman guy I spoke to after that said the tv price was below their cost price and they couldn't match that! :)

    • Thanks for this. Good to know, I might try and go JB Hi-Fi this afternoon.

  • Gutted I missed this, great deal!

  • 3 left at JBHIFi k3110 instead

    5:45pm friday

    • Nah this is the fhd version. The 4K version (3300UW) is up for 998 now

      • haha i just saw $700 and 55" .. totally missed the lack of 4k haha whoops :/

  • Got the last one price-matched @ JB Hi-Fi Myraee WA. Finally retiring my 8 years-old hulky Sony.

  • Any idea as to when these might ship? I was hoping to watch the big bash finals on it but my dream is fading…

    • Where are you located?

      • Canberra, My order was complete within 7 mins of this deal being posted

    • I have called them twice in the last 3 days and they have no idea.

On Monday I called and they had no information whatsoever.

Today I called and apparently they're getting shipped directly from the supplier (which she told me was "Hisense"). They notified the supplier on the 23rd, but they have not heard back from the supplier yet.

The woman I spoke to also had no idea who the courier would be (ie, Toll, AusPost, etc). She said that would be up to the supplier.

So overall, customer service in their B&E division is pretty useless lol hopefully we hear back soon.

      • Just got mine delivered by QLS logistics. Hopefully yours isn't too far away

        • Delivery scheduled for Monday the 30th :( Cheers thanks mate. hope you're enjoying it!

        • Still waiting on mine, apparently they are trying to find stock.
