    Broandband Bundle

    waiting for the BrodenBanned Bundle

  • +1

What speed is the broadband? Prob slow enough to ensure u can't watch 4K Netflix… man I hate Foxtel.

    • +1

If they're going to be using the copper network, I won't be able to watch 1080p YouTube.

  • Correct it's an extra $15 a month for speed boost. (100/40)

    • $189 activation Which they won't wave.
    • Yeah… that was one of the questions I was going to ask. So is their broadband over copper, or do they use their satellite dishes?

Stupid question, I know, but I've never had Foxtel before.

      • +1

Foxtel uses either ADSL or NBN. Even if you have Foxtel TV via a cable, the Internet side of things is owned by Telstra meaning Foxtel cannot use the same cable for Internet.

Looked into this when I was in an apartment that had Foxtel via Cable, but since I wanted Cable internet, had to go with Bigpond.

        • Well… that would mean only 3 Mb/s at my place then. Plus I don't need all those sports channels.

    • Its now $20/mth for the speedboost

      • Just a warning that there might be no point getting the speed boost.
I got it put on to my existing broadband cable and it did nothing.
Checked that speed test website and it was exactly the same.
If you ask nicely they will put it on free for this won't they?

        • +2

          It worked for me
          I'm getting 119mbps

        • @tighta55:
          woah, thats sweet.
          maybe my line is congested…

        • @tighta55:
          are you talking about cable?

        • Im on cable and it did nothing for me as well. Heard its more 'efficient' for NBN

        • +1

@Qmar: you need to call up and ask to check if its really enabled or not, i get close to 120mbps on my line.

        • @Hirolol: yes that's cable.

    • +1

      Hi right back at you…

      *waive

    • Plus the equipment fees are waived on that plan. Seems to be more worth it in my opinion.

  • add $20 for calls to mobiles (unlimited) , or just pay per use @35c/min + 49c connection.

    • Crazy expensive, the telstra rep recommended I just don't use the home phone (fine for me) but for other…

    200GB, no thanks.

    • +2

A few months ago, 200GB would have been enough for me. Now that I have Netflix, I go over that amount every month. Every. Month.

Damn you Netflix, and your great content!

  • +3

Knowing foxtel the sports channels for this "basic" package will be curling, lawn darts and synchronised swimming and the "entertainment" channels have 6 shows staggered at 5 min intervals across all 45 channels. If you want anything good it will be an extra $150 for the upgraded "barely watchable" package :P
And as others have said, the internet connection will be dialup speed to make sure you cant stream any competition.

    • +1

There is only one sports package, it is not separated in to tiers.

  • Also i believe the NBN version is only for Fibre to premise they do not offer FTTN.

  • No, thanks. I am happy with my $59.99 per month TPG unlimited broadband, and The Pirate Bay will be enough for everything else. Our overpriced & poor internet speeds, as well as expensive entertainment content, is what forces many of us to resort to pirating and torrents.

    • I was with TPG for years… until my speeds dropped to 1 Mb/s.

      • I have been with them now for six years, I think. Who are you with now? I was thinking about the NBN, but it isn't available in my area yet (5022).

        • +3

What a coincidence! I believe I'll be getting NBN in the YEAR 5022.

I'm currently with Vivid Wireless. I usually get around 10 Mbps down, and 1 Mbps up. But if I'm uploading anything, but download speed goes waaaaaaaay down, which I think is really unfair to their customers. I take photos on my mobile, so the minute I get home, it syncs with the servers online, and I can't even watch YouTube.

These days, I keep my uploading for when I'm asleep.

        • @flaminglemon: yeh i'm with tpg but my distance to the exchange puts my speeds down to about 4/1 … uploads are always an issue… switching to FTTN so we'll see how that goes…

        • @scud70: Whenever I hear someone else getting NBN, I die a little inside.

        • @flaminglemon: I’m getting it in the year 2525,if man is still alive

        • @flaminglemon: you should see the map.. my house was right on the border.. the house next to mine who is facing a different st wont get it.. and no plans to get it anytime soon… the NBN thing has been a total c*ck up but there was never any doubt it would be.

        • @scud70: Yeah. I've seen the map. All the suburbs around me are getting it. I think it has to do with the fact that everything around me are new suburbs. I'm in a really old area, I'm more than 3 Km from my exchange, so maybe that's also another factor.

        • @Titus Canby: With Trump in office, I'd say we have less than 4 years to live.

  • It's not abad deal for me to be honest.

Currently pay $80 with skymesh for 240gb 100/40 (FTTH) and also have foxtel (I only have it for Formula 1)

Shame I prepaid skymesh $300 last night!!

  • anyone logged into their telstra broadband account and now have no option to change their plan?
Seems like telstra is trying to get people to contact them directly if they want to change their plan and so they can try to sell us their new bundle.

  • -1

Hey it's Telstra, Australia's most expensive, lowest value ISP for idiots!

    • +2

Some of us have no choice :(
Less than 15kms from a major CBD and I have one provider available to me
      Doesn't make us idiots

    • Some idiots have more luck than others :-)

    • As already mentioned not everyone has a choice, we have plenty of providers but no ports available. Better to stay with Telstra and have slow ADSL 2 than end up with ADSL 1 or worse no internet at all. A work mate lives 100 metres away and can only get ADSL 1

  • +1

What are you supposed to do with 200gb?!

  • +1

Lol no thanks have optus cable unlimited
With speed pack unlimited mobile calls
Unlimited house calls unlimited international calls certain Country's including mine
Fetch TV with around 30 channels and 30 certain movies a month all premier league games
    All for $90 a month :)

    • Did u get 13xx calls included too? I notice they like to exclude them these days

    • i bet its hella slow

  • Is it just me or does this link make it $100 cheaper over the 12 months?

    • both yours and OPs link end up at $1412 min cost, even though $1512 stated, due to:
"Online only offer: standard TV install fee waived SAVE $100*"

  • Can you get cable through Foxtel or only ADSL ?

    • +1

      yes

      • thanks… might look into it then…

        • ok, cool

        • +2

          @pyr0maniac:

          Nice avatar…

Did you get it done professionally?

    • ADSL or NBN

      • no NBN for me… guess i have to stick with Tel$tra

        • Same. I just got a new bundle with on telstras cable - 500gb, super fast speedboost and foxtel basic + sports for $105.

We were paying $144 for the same but with 200gb…

        • @shapers:

not bad, does it include phone?

        • +1

@jv: Pay as you go calls for home phone - never use it anyway as we get unlimited with our mobiles

        • @shapers:

is it a variation of one of their bundles?

I'm paying $80 for 200Gb with unlimited local and national calls. Foxtel is $36 + docs + kids + lifestyle is another $30, so $136 in total. No speedboost. Contract recently finished.

        • @jv: We got this $80 deal, she gave us a $10 discount and half price speedboost ($10) so back to $80 for that deal + speedboost.

I wasn't going to sign up to foxtel again but asked her how much extra it'd cost and she said only $25 with sports so pretty good. Before we were paying $55 for foxtel.

It did take a few turns on chat to get someone willing to give us a good deal - all the others weren't even willing to throw in speedboost

        • @shapers:

i think the offer for sports is only free for the first 3 months…

        • +1

@jv: Nah, confirmed ongoing :) think she made a big mistake offering it haha

  • anyone got any spare foxtel go acc for rent? pm me
