  • id give it a try next time it expired too soon.

  • Looks awesome! Looking forward to TAS delivery one day.

  • OzBargained!

Just got an email today from them saying delivery will be 9th March! (ice bricked and hand delivered)
Apparently they got smashed by over 1000 orders!! Happy to hear a small Australian business got such a great response from all of us.

I ordered two packs really close to 11pm cut-off and didn't think I'd get a look in. I'll take 9th March anyday :).

Thanks again SFMW… I look forward to your next deal on OzBargain!

    • Not relly a "summer special" now though is it. I ordered fairly early, and have 9th of march too :(

Got a generic $15 off voucher as compensation, but tbh I'd rater have a couple of scoth fillets thrown in, you know from all those extra cows that will need to be taken out now.

  • 16th of March for me. But I'm hungry now! :-)

  • My meat arrived today packed in just a plain cardboard box. No foam esky, no ice, just warm meat well above the 5deg necessary to stop potential bacteria by the time I got home.

Has anyone else received the same unsafe packaging?

I'm very unhappy with this and want a refund.

    • Wow, not good. Mine's due tomorrow and I won't be home, so it had better be in a cold Esky with ice.

      • Had mine arrived tomorrow I would have been home. But after the delivery last time in a foam esky and ice and the reassuring email promising to be packed the same I wasn't concerned about a few hours today. Unfortunately just vac packed but loose in a cardboard box as it arrived today the meat is going in the bin. The missus won't eat it and won't let me feed it to the kids either.

FYI, Suttons Forest Meats offered me a replacement or refund.

      • Mine arrived this morning - in an Esky with ice.

        • Mine arrived in a cardboard box as well (although I was able to collect it so that was fine). They were packed in 630-670g packs rather than the 500g mentioned and one was a really big 600g steak. They do have a expiry date on the packet of 15/3/17 but as they are cryovaced, I expect this to be okay. Also, my meats added up to 3.932kg rather than the 4kg, which I guess is close.

          @tlai:

          Mine came in at 3960
I think it is a big deal, if he sold over 100 packs..it adds up

    Hi all.
A word of warning for all still waiting for your orders.
I hope you have more luck than me.
First of all mine arrived 7 days before schedule with no notification. It was left in the sun by my front door with no notification of delivery time. Even though it was in a chiller box it was warm.
Next the steak sizes were all over the place from 200 to over 400g.
Finally this it how they look.???
I know my local butcher wouldn't put then in the window looking like this.

    The advertised picture was:
    https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/164955/46972/img_2398.…

Now, I have received a reply from Cameron but he has not addressed my concerns in anyway. He advised the quality of butchering is down because they are busy with this deal.

    What do you think ozbargainers?
I hope they get there act together and everyone else has a better experience.

    • To give credit to Sutton Forrest. They offered a replacement or refund.
I have taken the refund to avoid future dramas.
      Good customer recovery.

    • Just in regards to colour - we received this meat a couple days ago, and once removed from packaging the colour is different (see comparison photo below). There's a post below advising it's normal for vacuum sealed bags, so perhaps that's all it is. We've ate a couple now and they're good.

  • Mine arrived in a styro. Opened it up excitedly and wow the smell was awful. Thermapen said the meat was at 22 degrees. Spoke to Cameron and he said he is resending it sometime this week.

    Just got mine
ETA was 9/3/17, and I got an email this morning saying it was shipped.
It came on the same day- product was still cold . Ice cubes still ice.
Meat looks like the link above which is normal for cryovaced meat. When you open it and air gets to it it should that nice red colour consumers associate with good quality meat.

The smell is normal as well…it stunk..it's raw meat guys..what were you expecting?

I'll cook one up over the next few days and see how it actually is.

I just hope this is 'fresh' meat and not meat they could not sell in time and hence flog it off to us cheap

    • "it stank" No mate I know what raw meat smells like. When its been kept at 22 degrees it tends to not smell very nice.

    • I'll be really interested on what you think of the meat. The trim looks pretty poor.

    • As replied above just to confirm the colour is different once removed from packaging. We've ate a couple now and they're good. Can't say it's the best meat we've ever had but it's good, and the sizes/quality are consistent. (PS - the best I've had was Kobe Beef in Japan $$$$$$$$$$$$)

  • ouch, missed the part where you said it was 22 degrees :-(
I'm having it tomorrow so will see how it goes.

    • meat was great!
I over cooked it to medium - whoops, was still soft and juicy and tender.

  • Hi all.
I would like to echo the above poster Birdyzone.
I arranged an alternate delivery date which was confirmed. However the meat still arrived at the original date. Obviously there was a reason to change the date… So rather annoyed at this.

  • Hmmm,

So i got an email on the 9th last week saying it had shipped…. I emailed Sutton Meats last week asking if it was going to be delivered on thursday or friday. I didn't get a reply email back nor did the stock arrive as yet?! I'm located in Melbourne and yesterday was a public holiday. I really hope it didn't really ship on the 9th because if it did then that meat is going to be off.

Anyone else have anymore issues with this delivery?

    • I think the delivery on the 9th email was a generic one. I received it and my meat arrived on the 03/03.I'd be following up because my first delivery arrived with the meat at 22 degrees, ewww, and after them re sending it, the second lot arrived on the 10/03. Had it last night, my opinion of it was that the trim/butchery is pretty bad for what is meant to be a premium product (looks nothing like the advertised image) and I thought the steak was average. YMMV

  • After reading the comments here I was a little worried but when I went home today at lunch to recieve the deliver it was very well packed in Styrofoam in ice with additional ice packs.

The meat looks good and there is no smell. And I have to say Cameron has been very responsive when I called him a few times with queries.

Only thing is I would have preferred 250 - 300g cuts and most of these were 350 - 400g.

Tonight's the real test - looking forward to some yum dinner.

  • So..Did anybody get a 2nd lot just turn up?
Guess I better do the right thing and let them know (I wasn't charged the 2nd time)

  • A question about the use by date on the packets… is that date if they were not cryovaced? I'm worried my meat may be going off..
