    • This is true, but I also swear that last time they had this BP Amex offer and I splurged on BP fuel, the stuff just lasted ages compared to my local Metro petrol place.
Cue John laws saying 'because fuels ain't fuels'

    • +1

For this specific example, be sure to purchase more than 37L to beat the AmEx offer.

    • You have until 04/04/17 to use it. I don't believe the patrol price not going to go down in the next couple weeks.

    • -6

      My sentiments exactly!

There's a very limited set of situations where you can take advantage of this offer:
      - Driving long distance, eg sydney to melbourne and you'll definitely need a highway fill up. Highway fill ups are generally expensive and BP might be compeditively priced.
      - BP in your area is compeditively priced
      - BP in your area is running a special on grocery items, eg coke
      - I wonder if a BP RoadHouse stop would qualify for this credit …

      • BP in your area is compeditively priced

you don't find that BP is as cheap or cheaper than the majors such as Caltex/Woolworths and Shell/Coles?

        • +1

you don't find that BP is as cheap or cheaper than the majors such as Caltex/Woolworths and Shell/Coles?

I wouldn't say 'cheap or cheaper' - 'expensive or more expensive' is a more accurate description.

At the moment, my local BP is 4c more expensive than the closest coles/woolworths. There's other times when it's 40c more expensive. Closest independent is 35c cheaper than my local BP at the moment.

I'm sure there's other locations where BP has better pricing.

    • If you're using it to pay for fuel then you're doing it wrong.

    • Tightartist - Simple solution

      Move houses.

In my area BP is 2c more than metro 1.199 vs 1.179

  • So have I read this right, states in store, not actual petrol, so thats $40 to buy in store the shops??

    Interesting…
Some people somehow manages to see something negative irrespective!!!

    • -1

      2- now

    • -2

      He has a point though

      • +3

no, no he doesn't. Not if you're smart about it

      • +3

That point really applies to any AmEx statement credit. E.g. the current "Spend $80, Get $20" back deal… "Make sure that the things you're buying are no more than $20 more expensive than the cheapest price at another retailer so you get the full $20 back"

  • +2

Hope this is the start of a big year of AMEX deals!

  • last time around I recorded all my fill up at BP, same car & same weekly driving, BP's fuel consumptions was consistently more than Woolworths 91 (7.5~8L vs ~7L /100kMs)
PS I do use trip metre and calculate to .01L after every refill to full

    • Interesting. BP ultimate diesel gets me consistently .2l/100km improvement over woolies

    • bp gets me consistently 550kms a tank on a civic hatchback

      Caltex/woollies <450.

  • Should my ANZ american express travel card work for this? I get an invalid amex card number error when I try sign up for the offer

    • it should, mine did

are u sure u typed your numbers in correctly?

    • Try visit the AMEX Connect website and see if the deal appears? It did for me, same card

      • Thanks guys! I hadn't signed up for AMEX connect and had just tried to use the second link

    • [Inserts joke about posting the card number for me to try for you ;)]

  • Sorry if this is a silly question, but where does the $10 get credited to? Will it reflect in my bank account of the AMEX card I used?

    • +4

lol, it shows up as a credit on your amex

  • Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded

    what ????

    • -1

      WHAT !!!

    • +1

      Very simples

If you siphon out the fuel, you will lose your credits.

  • Why has this got so many upvotes, what am I missing?

Isn't it essentially (at the very best) 25% off?

    • +15

how often do you receive 25% off fuel?

      • Fair enough - I just thought there must be some 'life hack' to the deal to have so many upvotes.

I don't have a car, so the excitement of saving a few bucks on fuel has no luster.

        • Get $10 off a gift card instore?

        • +2

Opal top-up for when you go to Sydney and realise how expensive their transport system is.

        • +2

@nightelves: Hence why someone tried to tap off despite the fact that their bus was on fire ;)

      • +5

how often do you receive 25% off fuel?

Usually the week after school holidays have finished…

        • +2

Yep. Or the day after filling up the car.

    • I voted it up cos it sure beats the 60L/$2.40 discount I'd get with a normal fuel voucher and that's with a full refuel. I'm kinda making the assumption my ones won't go all eBPay and price jack.

      1. Are you implying 25% off is not a great discount.
      2. You can Opal topup at BP.
  • Always appreciate a fuel discount. Thanks for letting us know before the rush.

  • So essentially, I fill up at one location, $40, then drive to another location closeby and fill up the rest of the tank.

    = $20 off full tank

Will only work if your vehicle uses over $80 to fill up a tank.

    • Offer redeemable up to 2 times

not necessarily at different locations :)

      • +2

        So you are saying:
        - Fill up $40
        - Walk in and pay
        - Fill up again with those cars waiting behind you (while they give you an angry look)
        - Walk in again and pay again (Clerk gives you a weird look)
        - Leave

        • Will only work if your vehicle uses over $80 to fill up a tank.

          :)

        • @tonester: I drive a Holden [Barina] Spark and usually fill up at Costco. Getting to $40 is a stretch most times!

        • +4

@tonester: Or, if your car only takes $70, and you spray another $10 worth of petrol on the ground in order to reach $80 and get your $20 credit. True Ozbargainers value bargains over possible firey death.
(Warning: clerk may give you more than a weird look)

        • +2

@AlexG: Clerk may also call police and fire services.

        • +2

@sween64: Or clerk might push emergency stop button before reaching $10 so you loose credit as well as get a bonus offense

      • i'm guessing whoever negged me can't read the deal properly or didn't participate previously :)

    • It doesn't have to be that complicated.

Either fill up to $40 when your tank has room or spend on something like gift cards, opal top up, or whatever tickles your fancy to make the purchase up to $40. Then when you have some more room in your tank spend another $40, and it can be at the same BP. So you've spent $80 and now get $10 + $10 credit onto your Amex account.

That's 25% off whatever you buy from BP in two $40 bursts, and you've got until April 4 to use enough of that $40 fuel to make room for another $40 fuel or whatever they sell.

  • Thanks, OP. Lets The staff retrain to process gc again

  • how many cards can you registered this to?

I have 3 amexs.. just checking

    • yup but its deal on something which we will buy anyway, so more people can take advantage of it.

    • +2

      Limited to 25,000 Cards.

      • and 1 Amex account can have up to 100 cards ;) You can have max of 2 Amex accounts so 200 cards with Amex alone + any bank issued Amex cards…

  • What's the best Amex card (preferably zero annual fee card) to sign up for? Not for this deal, but for future ones because Amex keep coming out with nice little bonuses like this. :)

    • -5

Qantas Discovery Amex. Earn QFF points. No annual fee. No premium credit limit. PM me for more details.

    • +1

      Or check the wiki

      • Thank you, I didn't realise there was a wiki :)

    • I got the Essential just for these deals, pretty good

  • +2

Is the allocation exhausted? Have been trying to enrol my card for the last 15 minutes but it doesn't show up anywhere.

  • Can I return to the same BP 2x's to get the deal both? Or do I have to go to 2 different ones?

What gift cards do BP sell?

  • Does the station allowing split payments using more than one Amex cards?
Eg For $80 fuel using 2x $40 payments

    • It would depend on the store.

  • -2

Who is that 1 guy who has down voted this!!

  • What denominations of BP gift card are there?

  • $20 off fuel, nice one!

  • Yay 25% off opal!

  • So can I buy BP Giftcard and get the $10 back?

    • Yes, I did last time, but they have $50 or $100. And no splitting

    • Yes but they only come in $25 and $50 so you won't save 25%

      • +3

Buy four $50 Vouchers using Five Different AMEX Cards ($40 Each time)

Or 3 different AMEX Cards (in this order)

        $40 Card 1
        $40 Card 2
        $40 Card 1
        $40 Card 2
        $40 Card 3

        • Genius!

        • +3

Or $25 gift card plus $15 fuel.

        • Most operators do not allow splitting, because it is hard work and too much trouble.

        • @sween64: Clever…some for now, some for later
Useful for people with a full tank!

I've got two cards, and there's no way I would have filled up $160 worth in that period

        • -1

          @Turd:

They will…if you tell them "I only have $40 on this card"…5 times

They are trained to accept money rather than let someone drive off - this is relevant too if you fill up $80 of fuel and you want to do it in two transactions

        • @BadMotivator: Depends on the operator. How do you stop stolen cc's from being used? How do you know that the person using 10 amex's for the store item isnt using stolen cc's?

Who really has 10 AMEX"s to a normal person this is crazy.. to us professionals it is easy.

    • It said it terms:

Excludes BP Fuel card, commercial fuel and bulk fuel transactions.

      • +2

He is referring to Gift cards. It's well known for AMEX deals that you can buy gift cards. AMEX is not capable of determining what you've purchased. All they see is a dollar amount and the merchant.

  • Does anyone know how I can find a full list of BP's that accept AMEX? On the manual enrol page there is a section titled "Where to redeem" but when I expand, all I see is a list of BP's in NSW and

Location unspecified, showing nearest results for zip/postcode 2000. Learn more about location services.

Tried both Chrome and IE, don't have any problems with location services on other websites.

    • +2

All BP accept AMEX, if they dont the franchieses are dodgy and not paying their workers right, because they are dodgy and dont want customers paying amex because of the higher fees.
This offer comes from BP Headoffice and AMEX's relationship/promo offer management deals.

  • +2

    max enrollment reached i think

  • +1

Don't know how reliable the places on the AMEX list are - one "BP" service station on the list at 58 Patterson Rd Bentleigh, 3204 is actually a Liberty Service Station! Next time I'll check Google Maps before venturing out.

  • Report to BP HQ When The store refusing to sell gc or not allowing you to use Amex. They should allow you to pay by any means. The staff May know about Amex promotion and doesn't want people to benefit

  • +2

Stay away from BP West Ryde on Victoria Rd, they charge 2% extra on Amex cards.

    • The one down the road at Rydalmere doesn't charge extra for AMEX
