      Don't be a broden.

    • +2

Good thing you have small hands.

  • can someone please tell me what is this 'unicorn' deal thing? Does it mean something that can never exist in the real world? like the previous Auspost CEO's million dollar salary that he uses to buy an expensive sports car?

    • +1

No, unlike unicorns, his salary was very real. Oh, and it was 5.6 (million dollar salaries). Just last year. Plus expenses. And cars. Not car.

    • +70

The best way to understand is to go looking for one of these $10 drives tomorrow morning.

And when you can't find one on the shelf, ask the sales assistant.
And when they can't find any out back, they suggest you go to the store only down the road, because on the system they still have stock.
And when you get to that store, you start the process again… shelf, sales assistant, stock out back, and suggestion of another store.

It becomes a hunt for a mythical item. Legend has it that it's able to be seen and acquired if you simply look hard enough… but alas it's always just out of reach, just one more store to try… because its worth it.

And then my friend, you've fallen into the trap every seasoned bargain hunter has fallen into at least once in their lives.
The hunt for the unicorn. A bargain so great, but so utterly unachievable that stories of such success are reserved for the greatest hunters of the bargain world, with powers otherworldly (or otherwise the very gate keepers of such bargains, who take them all for the themselves before customers even get a look in).

And then you come back to this very thread, with tales of people who have been successful in the hunt. Some legendary hunters become folklore… Broden comes to mind first… a hunter so ruthless that he buys not just what he needs, but what the rest of Australia needs, with the goal of onselling for profit. Others make wild unsubstantiated claims of success to promote an over inflated self-worth, but in reality have failed miserably just like everyone else.

But… that's the name of the game. Go my friend. Go find your unicorn. Do it. Do it for all of us.
("Pics or it didn't happen" rule applies)

That's some OzB poetry right there.

        • +2

You gotta believe Toasty. You gotta believe.

        • @UFO: So disillusioned right now. No unicorns anywhere near me but at least I was able to renew my passport.

      • +2

a hunter so ruthless that he buys not just what he needs, but what the rest of Australia needs, with the goal of onselling for profit

that right there is the best description of Brodening i've ever read :D

Wow thanks for sharing OP! Do you know if there is like a product code we can ask them to lookup over the phone?

    • +1

      16477 is the code

      • thanks mate

  • anyone have a code to ask the store for?

  • Looks like someone has gone wild putting products on clearance, first the Optus $10 Starter Kits, now these. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

Am interested to see in how many people score one of these tomorrow

  • -3

I clicked go to deal but it just takes me to the store front page where I cant find it….?

    • Click before read, much?

      • What? I read the whole thing..it said: Only valid for actual Aus Post stores, not local post offices (LPOs). Store search(auspost.com.au) - Not available at LPOs. See the words store search?

        • +2

Store search = search for stores?

    • You'll have to use your legs to get this deal.

  • +8

Im on my way to line up at my local post shop! Taking a sleeping bag and stick to beat you all away

    • Damn. I was hoping you were in Brisbane ;-)

  • Price match?

    • Nope. Noone price matches clearance items.

  • +1

Guess my access to Stock Locator will come in handy come tomorrow morn.

    • And handy for us, right?

      • -3

Sadly, no. All the bargain hunters here ruined it for me and now every call I make results in the staff telling me they've been hounded all morning with other OB's calling! So much for Corp outlets having their numbers unlisted and only available to me! There goes my home ground advantage!

        • Then why bragging? Just because you want to look cool?

        • +1

@Nachotroncoso: My intention was there, but when I got into work it was revealed just how limited the stock was. Total of 8 in NSW and keen OB's had already hounded Customer Service chasing them up. 2 of the stores I checked with said they had been receiving calls all morning. I could have logged on last night, but it was getting late and I wrongly assumed there would be a few more than 8.
Had it worked as I had planned I would have been happy to share the locations with other OB's once I got one first, saving everyone from ringing EVERY outlet. Not sure if this is "bragging", if it is then one could claim 95% of OB posts are bragging.
Maybe I'll have second thoughts about helping fellow OB's next time.

        • @Rockgod70: Thanks for the reply. After reading it and checking the comments again it definitely makes sense. There's usually more to the story to what is written, so thank you for clarifying :)

        • @Nachotroncoso: and thank you for taking the time to clear up the misunderstanding. I feel happier now.

  • Let the fun begin, suppose I'l look like a Pokemon Go nut tommorrow…

Got to hit about 5 different stores all at 9am..

  • +2

take this down (profanity) or else there will be a brawl at the post offices tomoz

    • +1

whats up with your name being unclicable?
      Why are you disabled?

      • -1

        The user has been banned.

        • Can you be banned for swearing?

        • What?
          Why?

        • +2

Nope they aren't banned, DisabledUser just means that they deactivated their account in settings, users that are banned still keep their username but have 'penalty box' on their profile.

  • +3

wonder if mother would line up for a harddisk

    • +5

      not a floppy!?

  • Store locator not working?

    • I found it wasn't working in Firefox, tried Chrome and works fine there.

  • +7

I have memorised by heart the exact addresses of the nearest 60 post offices. I'm gonna get this baby.

  • +1

    I'M CAMPING OUTSIDE AUSPOST

    • +1

People will think you line up for iPhone 8 :)

  • Lines tommorrow?

  • If this deal is not price error, this would definitely go down as one of the all time great ozb deal!

  • -8

Um, you do realise OP is a newbie and trolling you guys? Thats not an official AusPost price tag and notice there is no receipt (even staff would get a receipt). April fools has passed but I can't wait to see all the annoyed AustPost staff go postal with "Hey, have you got that $10 hard drive"….

Hope someone films a postal worker go "postal"

    • +2

Again please see receipt added to OP

    • Umm, no the sticker looks right for OZ post discount stock.

Still having only seen/bought one doesn't mean this is classed a 'genuine' deal to be posted here.

  • +2

I'm more impressed those little yellow and red price stickers still exist somewhere!

    • He has knocked off an old IGA pricing gun from 2004

  • +1

Is this legit? Or a troll?

  • -7

    Sheeple.

No official confirmation nor any proof…
    Yet 115+ upvotes.

    Reson for negative vote-

    • Not available in Australia

    • Insufficient quantity

    • Price error

    Only one word.

    Sheeple

    • +3

Your "reson" is that it is not available in Australia when Australia Post is selling it??

      • -4

        Proof?
I will be happy with even a hint of red symbolising australia post.

        • +1

Funny that because Aus Post does not put their logo onto their receipt - yet alone colour.

        • After seeing the Receipt Im finally satisfied…
I cant remove that comment ^
          Or
I cant upvote due to site rules…

          Thanks for your great post…

          :)

          Welcome to OzBargain…

        • +7

          @0p:

I don't think negging a new users first post is very welcoming… Maybe politely asking for him to upload a picture of a receipt would've been bit more welcoming?

You're thanking him and satisfied with his receipt? Didn't you accuse him of faking his receipt? Why'd you remove that previous comment?

        • Yes, agree with lyl. It's up to all of us to improve the community by acting respectfully especially to new users. Let's all take a few moments to think about what we post before making a comment that can be disrespectful or hurtful to others.

        • Hmm.

    • +1

Possibly valid reasons but have to downvote for using the word 'sheeple'. Sorry.

  • Now, much as i love OB, if i was Matt i don't think i'd have necessarily posted this - at least not until i'd ram-raided my own Post Office.

But maybe Matt isn't like me.
Matt might be super nice, and a little bit stupid.
    It's possible.

If this turns out to be stunt, i'd be quite impressed by Matt.
It would mean Matt is not a little bit stupid, but a little bit subversive.
I like subversiveness in my men.
If that turns out to be the case, good one Matt, i'd like to buy you a beer.

    • +2

I got one myself but personally I am happy with one and whatever happens next happens. Also receipt posted and added to OP

      • +1

        What's a blue nose friend?!

      • which Aus Post Shop did you bought yours from?

      • +2

        I take it all back.
Looks legit to me, and i've seen Australia Post do plenty of stupid things so nothing would surprise me.

I'm with my main man Matt.

  • this is not gonna end well for most of us… lol

  • +5

Not going to bother, most of the staff would've purchased it. I would if I was a staff member..

    • +1

Yep, as soon as they put the sticker on it, it would've been purchased. OPs post is a good example.

  • Unless you're jobless the time spent running around trying to find one of these would be worth more than the sale price…

    • +1

Is it ok to check your local if you don't have work on Wednesday?

  • I have 2 usb hard drives I can't find a use for but I still really want one of these!
    I need help

  • actually how can we call the individual stores and ask? cos they all share the same phone number??

    • Yep it is a national line - they do not list individual stores numbers publicly.

Also got told by partner that while stock may not be stickered it will scan as that price. Ensure that you asking for that specific stock that I have a picture of above.

I have the 5TB version, paid nearly 300 back in 2014, still in the cupboard unused. :|

  • I know there is receipt and product picture but it is just too good to be true.

  • So if this on sale today then be all sold out by tomorrow morning!
