  • Guys, what's a "CPA" post office?

    edit: nvm —> https://auspost.com.au/about-us/operating-as-a-post-office/c…

    • Planning a road trip?

    • CPA should be corporate which means they'd have the deal.

      • Nah it's community.. they won't have it.

  • +1

someone in Aust Post been smoking pot?

Even at 50% discount, swarms of OzB zombies will still sweep up every single stock.

9.99 is just Father Christmas giving freebies.

  • +1

Guys don't even bother calling up a store to check. You'll just waste your time and their time better spent keeping the already slow queue moving. They'll be gone as soon they open before they even pick up the phone.

  • Do they keep these behind the counter or stock them on the shelves? Just wanna know where I should head when the doors open and the chaos ensues..

    • I believe all tech (except USB drives) is stored behind the counter, at least in my PO.

      • Ok so better to go straight to the counter and ask for this model I guess?

  • +1

Congrats to the girl who got in 5 seconds before me. Last one in Brisbane apparently. Was indeed $10.

    • Which store?

      • +4

ANZAC Square GPO. She stood and looked, i stood and looked and she bolted for the line. Even though i was in the store earlier, Fair cop. Shouldn't have skipped my coffee haha

        • Did you have a stock check done of the Brissie stores?

    • That's an early opening PO!

  • Good deal. Though I still have an unused $99 4tb Seagate external desktop. I pickup up from a previous Australia Post Deal last year.

  • All gone at Macq Centre Sydney store :(

    • cheers, was about to walk there now :)

    • Are they really open that early?
      All 9am around here.

      • +1

Yeh all open at 9 but I know a staff member, maybe some at Eastwood or West Ryde not sure about those

  • I went to my two local post offices last Thursday and one of them had this drive…. But I can't remember which one now… I knew should of bought that cloning machine last time it was advertised..

  • +1

So many upvotes, Will anyone else other than OP be able to get one, I am guessing… I know it is still very early as most of the post offices open at around 09:00am.

    • Someone posted they got one this morning

      • Good on them then.

      • +5

No someone posted they saw one walking out the door 5 seconds before their sweaty little hands could grab it.

The heat is on….. gotta catch em all.

        • Great sense of humor.

  • The Auspost location finder hasn't worked for quite a while. :-(

    • Use a better browser.

    • ublock, adblock and/or ghostery and/or javascript blockers usually disable this feature
just copy address into ie or another browser

No huge loss. It's a ****ing Seagate. I had 2 of them die in the last couple of weeks and while I recovered everything because I do back up, it was a damned headache and I'll never get those hours of my life back. All drives die eventually I suppose, but Seagate seems to do it more often and be a bigger pain in the butt. Never ever trust a 3.5" Seagate regardless of model number. Never! Use to be a Seagate and WD guy. Now I'm just WD, until they produce some nightmare drives. These would be okay as drives for maybe gaming on an Xbox. Downvote all you like.

    • +2

Not a true ozbargainer. It's a mega deal man!

      • +1

Spending hours of my life recovering data is not a bargain. It's a sentence. Crime? Buying Seagate.

      • after the deal for a hard-drive,
you'll need to find another deal for data recovery!

    • +1

I am always hearing this but I bought this hard drive twice before for my parents and they'll still working fine 3&2 years later.
One is connected as a pvr storage device and it's still ticking along.

Having said that. I probably wouldn't put anything critical on one :p

      • I literally have 10 drives permanently hanging off my main desktop (which obviously also acts as a file server). Some are always on. Others only connected when I'm backing up. Mostly used to store photos and video, but also various other stuff - software like linux distros, virtual machines, ebooks, course lectures, astro data (the latest astro catalogs take terrabytes) I download.

In the last 2 weeks I've had 2 drives die. In the last year or so I think I'm up to 6. Some of them lasted a couple of years. Some of them lasted less than that. They all run hot according to smart monitoring, despite having a desk fan blowing on them. On the same machine I think I have had 1 WD drive give up the ghost in the last 6 years or so.

I'm just so damned fed up with Seagate.

        • +2

          Fed up?
I'm surprised you're not picketing their offices.

        • @iamhurtin:

Yes because posting a couple of messages on a couple of internet boards and switching to a different brand is the same as participating in an angry protest.

Reductio is the weakest form of criticism.

        • +2

          @syousef: um k.
I was actually agreeing with you
I'd never trust Seagate again either

        • @iamhurtin:

My apologies. It didn't seem that way.

          Upvoted your comments.

So, went into the Bourke st Melb Post shop (yes, it is a post shop) at 8 am. The guy said he already had 6 people came in. This is not for $9.99 - he used the word "It is a Scam", I explained to him its not a Scam. This is an Online community (gave him a bit of info about OZB). He was like yea, whatever it is, that's fine. We don't have this for $9.99. This is on sale for $150.00. Showed him the pic of the receipt. He said the "blacked out" stuff on the receipt is a discount code, and someone has applied the discount manually. This is not for $9.99. So this is my experience. He checked and said, there are none left and none at Elizabeth st GPO either. Good luck guys.

    • +19

Only thing that's a scam is him buying 8 before the store opened

      • Yes, spot on! Or, he just didn't want to sell them at that price.

      • +1

I know someone at this store and can tell you they have no stock and the system shows no stock in Victoria. No one there has bought these early, they just want the fevered receipt-clutchers to stop asking to 'check out the back' and holding up the line.

        • +1

Lol, It sounds like may be you are the guy I spoke to at the store in the morning :p

    • +3

Lol what??? You can clearly see the "blacked out" stuff on the side is only taking away 5% (employee discount) and the reason the rest is blacked out is because personally I did not want 20,000 OzB coming to my store to ask my partner iis there any stock you kept for us nor for her to get in trouble at work.

Again as I said in earlier comment - it WILL scan at that price.

      • +2

Yea, I am on your side OP. Personally, I would be blacking out the location info as well for something like this on the receipt. I told him this is all legit, but it's funny how some people like to say it's all scam as soon as they see hugely discounted deals like these. Anyways, kudos to you for posting this one and keeping Ozbargainers busy this morning.

    • None at Collins St either

  • -1

I think the staff would have cleared out the shelves for themselves. I will try this morning anyway.

  • +2

    8.20am

    Martin Place Sydney Post Office

Sales behind the counter said several people have asked this morning. In five mins apparently as it opens at 8.15am.

He said the deal was not true.

  • +2

  • Went in to my local less than 2 minutes after it opened in NSW as it's on the way to work, staff laughed and said there's 2 in the state, and they'll be bought by staff.

Good luck to the other states, total unicorn, glad I didn't go out of my way!

    • So did you ask where in the state?!!!!!

      • +2

Strathfield and bondi allegedly, but I didn't have any magic arrows to take the unicorn down with!

        • Where's your ozB spirit?

        • @BartholemewH:

currently nursing a broken foot so can't be a45ed to traipse round looking! :) just got off the phone with a helpful woman from auspost, there are none in stock across the entire auspost now including depots, they had less than 10 across the whole country on offer, so technically this wasn't an ozbargain, it was a bunyip hunt (more Australian than unicorns!) :)

    • No!!
I swear I saw it last Thursday.
It was right between 2palm trees.

I saw it with my own I eye I did!

  • 8.46am in melbourne and mine is not opened yet. How come you guys already got???

    • Which store? Looks like all the confirmations are fromNSW, the one from Bourke st said not this price.

        • @Lunawinter: no stock.

        • @mooreshady:

          Thanks for the update :)

  • +1

All sold out in Brisbane except for one in Mooloolaba. No other clearance hard drives. A nice lady from my post office was happy to scan the other hard drives in pursuit of my unicorn.

  • +2

Glad I didn't chase the unicorn this morning (typing in bed).

  • +3

        • @iseenya92:

Yes I heard you mention the product number and was like "damn someone beat me to it!"

    • I gave up once I saw several people lining up waiting it to be open.
So, I decided to just sit and enjoy the view of some people circling around with their phone open and checking out every aisle, and none of them got it.
      That is satisfying :D
