I buy broken roombas and sell them after fixing them. My customers love them. However this price is bloody good. You could pick up a second hand 630 for $200. But this unit has many more features and is only $200 more , plus its new ! My mate got one in china and I checked it out. Was impressed. Has some roomba features. Has 4 sensors on bottom to detect stairs. If I had the cash, id buy. Only concern is if things go wrong…roomba spares are readily available.

    • i did abit of research on it last week and alot of people are saying this unit is better than the roomba that retails for over $1000 new.

      • haven't used a Roomba before. but I have the xiaomi and it's great.
considering the price and local warranty, i'd get one if I didn't have one already.

  • I should have waited. I ordered one only last week through a Singapore website Qoo10 with only Singapore warranty. And probably in Chinese and I don't speak a word of it.

    • Should be able to update firmware and change to english, I'm assuming if these don't come with the latest firmware that we'll all have to do the same!

    • Update the firmware when you get it. It's now in English.

Quick question. Would you be offering after sale maintenance parts? i.e. filters etc?

    • The parts for the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner are available for purchase on our website with either with the robot or separately.

  • I've got about a 1cm drop from where the tiled living area and hallway drops off to lino in all of the bedrooms. Would this be no good for that?

    • It should be able to easily handle a 1cm alteration in floor surfaces.

    • I have a 12mm drop from floor to bathroom tiles. Goes down mo problem but can't get back up. Either have to keep the door closed or use the virtual wall.

  • I have never owned a Robot Vac cleaner before, how does it work for a two story house?

If I leave it upstairs for 1 day and downstairs for the other, would the robot remember which "map" to use?

    • It maps its way around as it goes, so you just move it to where you want it, press a button and it'll clean as far as it can get to.

They've all generally got cliff sensors so they'll avoid driving down the stairs.

      • That's perfect! Thanks mate.

    • It maps the floor as it cleans so it would easily adjust between the two different levels.

    • It maps the floor each time it runs, but it does seem to remember where the fixed items are after a few weeks, it used to get stuck on the rug and stools all the time but now it just glides right by them. I just bought 2 as i can't be bothered dragging it up and down stairs.

  • So how long does the +$5 Priority (Get Your Order Shipped First), take?

    • Those who have Priority Shipping will have their orders dispatched first.

      • Dispatch from where and how?
The free ship option says 19-30 days, how many days will I get it sooner?

        Order #1101 $404 | Sydney … when should I expect it?

        • +3

Free shipping option: 19-30 business days
          Priority shipping option: 4-6 weeks

        • +2
        • @bxpressiv:
bxpressiv, Priority Shipping is longer that FREE ? Will take to Free option

      • For those that didn't purchase priority shipping will their orders be shipped in the order that they were purchased?

  • I had trouble with the select box on Firefox for Android, but worked in Chrome. Ideally the website would take the address from PayPal but I'm just nitpicking.

Wait till he accidentally spills water on the cleaning path..

  • i logged on just to vote this up. i will 100% buy this at the end of the week when some money comes in. i hope it won't be sold out by then.

I got one of this at home
Can certainly assure that this is the best and cleverest robot cleaner in this price range. The IF sensor scanned my whole house and calculated the path for cleaning

When return to base for charging, it also choose the shortest path and always return to base correctly within a minute (unlike my last bot that spend 20mins and still not able to return to base). Xiaomi also updated their app recently to include English interface and audio voice pack.

    • +2

I'm intrigued how these handle kids (preferably to suck them up before they make a mess), such as bits of food on the floor. toys, etc

  • Just a kind advice here, try to avoid this robot to access the carpet, it always stuck even my carpet are low tile one. You can buy a xiaomi virtual wall to stop the bot from accessing unwanted areas, it works so well for me.

  • +2

Now I just need a shark suit for my cat

    • I had the exact same idea ;)

  • I asked on Whirlpool, but will ask here as well:

I have the Samsung PowerBot cyclonic robot vac: http://www.samsung.com/au/vacuum-cleaners/robot-sr20h9050u and was wondering if it's worth changing to this.

    • +1

I have the Samsung powerbot VR9000 which costed about $800-1000 at the time and it's been doing it's job on a daily schedule.
It did have an issue once where it needed to be repaired at samsung at about 1 year in (this is again with daily cleans on floor boards and carpet).
Also I think this powerbot had the highest suction power on the market for its time and may still be.

Therefore, I wouldn't think the xiaomi would provide much benefit over the samsung to be worth the coin as replacement…

      • Thanks @SevenSmurfs. I have the VR9000 as well, contemplating selling that to buy this, but I'm not sure if there's any benefit as you mentioned.

For those purchasing this, are you also getting the Ultimate Kit (Maintenance Kit Pro + Virtual Wall)?

For those with robot vacuums how important is maintenance and keeping spare parts on hand?

    Cheers!

    • +5

Don't know how important, but it's cheaper to get a set (and you get 2x parts) from aliexpress: http://bit.ly/2pqTOlu ~AU$34 shipped

    • yup - I also ordered the Ultimate Kit (Maintenance Kit Pro + Virtual Wall)

    • The app will give you an indication on the life of the parts like the filter and side brushes etc.
It's probably helpful to purchase a couple at the same time so you get it all delivered together otherwise you can buy from gearbest or geekbuying or aliexpress (below link).

  • +2

Now Xi Jin Ping gets me to pay for a robot vacuum to map the floorplan of my house too. Wonder when they're moving in altogether.

  • How does this compare to Neato D80 ?

    • +1

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner has more suction power, same sought of brush bar, same if not better navigation abilities, and the ability to be controlled from your smartphone.

      • -6

        same sort of*

        • -2

Seriously? Cant handle the right spelling huh guys?

  • Hi boss, i ordered one $470! please remember me and add special gift :). I have the Neato, it's working well. But giving this a go base on the feedback! thank you

  • Are there any Neato owners out there that have tried this and can comment on the difference? Had a pretty good run with my Botvac 80, biggest complaint is its navigation around chair legs and stuff.

EDIT - also interested how this thing does with edges, looks like it would leave a sizeble strip against the wall uncleaned with the vacuum located between the wheels like that.

    • +1

Would also like to know about the edges.

  • +1

Yeah this is heaps cheaper than Neato & iRobot and has more suction power too. My only advice would be for RoboGuy to add replacement parts to the Accessory page. It makes the site look like they don't care about after sales service if the Accessory page is largely empty and besides, you could get recurring revenue and customers by selling parts.

  • +3

Quite misleading to have $576.00 crossed out on the page when you never really sold it at that price OP (in business for 5 days) but decent price nonetheless.

    • We have actually been selling Xiaomi products for over six months now and the $576 was the listed price that we were selling the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner for prior to this sale. We have recently changed our suppliers and are able to now offer this current group buy deal.

      • +11

So why has your business only been registered from 4 May 2017 (5 days ago), if you've been selling for over 6 months?

        • Maybe because you can start a business without an ABN?

        • +1

          @Clear:
@ascorbic is asking a valid question. The seller is saying he has been selling them for over 6mths, yet his business has only been registered for 5days.

        • +1

@BlitzR: And my answer is valid. You do not need to have an ABN to start a business and it's only compulsory once you reach the $75k mark to register for GST if I'm not mistaken. If an ABN was required for anyone to sell goods then why doesn't every Gumtree seller have one?

Perhaps Roboguy had the store as a hobby on the side and after the massive increase of popularity thanks to OzBargain, he has decided to register it?

        • @Clear:

Pretty dumb not to register at this moment. Commercial quantities will attract duty and gst payable regardless. You may as well register it and claim some credits with each unit sold.

        • @omguleh: Which is why it would have been registered 5 days ago when Robobuy realised how popular his posts were on OzB.

        • @Clear:

Records pulled today still shows as unregistered for GST under both of the ABNs associated with his business name.

Better get a move on before they arrive Roboguy :)

  • Will it set off my alarm when I'm out?

    • +4

Can confirm this won't set off your car alarm.

  • Does this come with a GST invoice? Planning to buy for condo overseas and getting GST refund.

    • -2

He says he's got an Abn, so good chance he'd add the gst. But he's gotta confirm though.

      • Depends how much his turnover is.

      • +1
      • +1

As said above - you only need to register for GST if you are earning around $80k pa from the business!

        Regardless, good luck mr roboguy!

  • like it.

  • Bought!

  • +1

I have a LG Roboking square, still going well. Anyone had both and can compare?

  • +3

Have had mine since they were launched.Used Gear Best. Bought one for my sister. A friend so impressed with Xiaomi robot vac she has placed 5 orders for self and friends. Mine only speaks Chinese as haven't changed app yet.
Very easy as maintenance is commonsense.
Dust container may need emptying. Brushes may have cottons or hairs caught around it. Also check around the end of brush cylinder. A piece of plastic or shopping docket may be caught in dust inlet. The sensors around outside perimeter may need wiping over with damp cloth. You can also vacuum the HEPA filter gently. Have thick Chinese carpet square which it can't vacuum near edge so need to get out vacuum for that and to get closer than 1 cm from any wall, dog bowl or furniture item. Recommend highly.

    • +1

Takes literally 2 mins to update to English.

Also if you're not updating, you're not getting all the FW upgrades which improved lots of things like mapping etc.

Just go to Settings > Check for updates in the Mi Home app.

  • -4

A qucik check at gearbest and it cost around $360 shipped.http://m.gearbest.com/robot-vacuum/pp_440546.html

    • +4

That price must be in USD

      • -6

        Cool

  • Gearbest have an offer now for $333.99 + $16.93 shipping (7-15 business days) or + $52.72 (3-10 business days).

    EDIT: That's USD…. $445.10 AUD.

  • Can confirm roboguy is a good person with customer service. Im not sure how but i accidentally ordered two of these thru paypal and he helped me delete one of these orders instantly .Good Luck with your business Roboguy

  • +1

Is it essential to order the virtual wall?

    • Only if you want one…

  • Sorry off topic here. Saw the Xiaomi water purifier on your page, how good is it? They look quite fancy though . Easy to get consumables here though?

  • bought, hope it's good and doesn't take long to come

  • Any deals on the Air filter OP? Would be good if you can do a group buy on that as well ;)

  • +1

What kind of running costs and time are involved with these? Like:
    - noticeable cumulative power use always recharging it (I don't use my 18V tools everyday but I'm sure it would add up if I did!)
    - any regular consumable style spare parts like filters and so on to replace regularly
    - time cost of checking it after every clean
    - does it really let you postpone that regular vacuum to be much less frequent

I dunno just anything really in trying to imagine the difference it would make. In some ways given the comparable costs it's a comparison between buying a cordless like V6 or this.

  • How does it go with kids toys every where on the ground like Lego or shopkins? Will it suck them up or go around? Also how about under the dining table with all the chair legs?

    • Depends on the toys. It will either push it around the floor or suck it up.
Quite easy to see if there is anything in the trash box.
It struggles with chair legs and the side brush can leave marks on furniture.
Don't get me started on furniture that clears the main robot but not the sensor…
      Still highly recommended though.

    • hmm same question here. ive got a cheapy robo vacumm, and the biggest pain is having to go around and pick up every little thing first to make sure it has a clear path. any idea?

      • of course it needs a proper clear path…

  • +5

Man I so want one… But it's still alot of money for something that'll help make me even lazier… I understand it being useful for those that arn't home 12hrs a day with very little free time though.

Still considering if $400 is worth it for an automated 1-2hr vacuum job or if using my ducted vacuum cleaner for a few mins is better.

Gotta take into account that I gotta tidy up the floor too instead of just shoving things around with the vacuum stick and it probably uses more electricity charging everyday too!? Arghhhh
    B-but it's so cool!

    • Hahahaha you just very succinctly replicated my thought process on this.

    • +1

I've hardly touched my dyson since I bought one of these. I schedule it to run twice a week when I'm out and it takes care of the vacuuming :)

  • ordered one, selling my LG robo king…

  • Can this thing dock and charge itself when battery running low? Then resume vacuuming

    • Yes.

  • +4

Pretty ballsy to give hundreds of dollars to a random new internet business, that was only registered a few days ago, with only one product on the website and no real way to phone contact him/them.

Good luck to those who bought from here but I'd rather pay an extra $40 to get it from a reputable business like Gearbest

    • +7

      Reputable and GearBest…
