Thanks RoboGuy, bought the purifier and robot vacuum. :)

Im in too! I was eyeing off a Roomba980 but this looks like a winner for the price :)

  • lol dwon from $57600!!

  • +5

    When will they start shipping?

  • China beats US in floor vacuuming robot this time. The xiaomi is way better than iRobot and only cost half the price.

  • thoughts on whether it would be worth purchasing the accessories?

    • Yes. Otherwise you can order them from gearbest, geekbuying etc at a later date. The recommendation is that you replace the filter etc every 6 months or so, but the app has a consumables section which you can see the % wear left and when to change it.

    Hi Rep,
It looks like someone has found a cheaper price than yours.
    Will you match it?

    • I am sorry but $399 is the cheapest price we can offer.
Please keep in mind that Aliexpress does not offer payment through PayPal and thus you do not have PayPal protection when buying through Aliexpress.

      • +1

        Alipay and CC.

        • +5

Seller was really responsive and have dropped the price a further $2USD which makes it around $282ish if you have a no international fee card.
I think the 98.6% feedback, 6400 purchases and being opened up for 4 years is enough of an assurance for me, CR has never been a letdown for me too.

        • +1

@Zeral: go for it then if you think it's worth the saving.
It's the trade off for buying overseas and not having Australian warranty which is what the OP is offering here.
I purchased from geekbuying for mine taking the risk of having to send it back should there be any issues

        • +1

          @chl15:
Yeah I have along with this.
          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/XIAOMI-MI-Robot-Vacuum-Clean…

I've never had to use an aftersale service before because they never break within a warranty period and gotta contact the seller, except for some products from my local jb for who god knows why. Like ive literally never had anything break on me in 20 yrs but the wemo and jbl speaker i bought from jb last year were DOA while the dyson fan broke 1 month later.

My bad, just remembered some shitty teclast x16 pro breaking on me within a year and gearbest offered to fix it

    • +1

surely having a local contact for warranty purposes has to be worth something. (which is why I suspect a good number of people wouldn't buy it cheaper from ALI. Also CR can be hit and miss with long wait times)

      • Don't know about OPs reputation with post sale services. New business.

        • +1

Great customer service does not end once a sale is made, in fact making a sale is only just the beginning.

        • Sure but it can't be worse than dealing with the AliExpress mob and cost of shipping back etc. $15 is a small price to pay imo for potentially a lot less painful experience. If the difference was say $100 then I may re-evaluate but not at this pricepoint.

With regard to the Australian plug:

Are you providing an Australian adaptor or a bona fide Australian power cable?

I only ask because the adaptors I have received with imports in the past have often been loose and wobbly- not something I want plugged in with small kids around the house.

    • +3

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner actually comes standard with an Australian Plug just like the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2

      • Thanks.

If the unit is provided with an Australian power cable (no adaptor required) then this is reason enough, for me, to choose roboguy over the slightly cheaper aliexpress option.

FYI I contacted the aliexpress store to ask the same question- results below.

        MY PRODUCT QUESTION:

does this come with an australian power cable?
        or
does it come with a power cable + an australian adaptor plug?

        THEIR REPLY:

The package will come with australian adaptor plug

        • I've been using adapters since forever including my redmi note 3 and LG V20, if I really really wanted an AU cable, I'd just grab one of my spares that are laying around like pulling out the cable from my PS VITA and using it with my Aukey Chargers.

      • +1

        with an Australian Plug

an Australian plug, or a China plug (which is close enough to being an upside down Australian one, or we're an upside down one of theirs)?

Just like other Xiaomi products (like their power board), I'm guessing its just a China plug which happens to be compatible with our plugs when upside down

        • Here is an image showing the power point in which the cord plugs into.

        • +1

          @RoboGuy:

That's not an Australian wall outlet but a Chinese one

        • +3

from what i can google you are right- the chinese plug and australian one are compatible.

I reckon I'll give roboguy a shot though anyway. poor fella is being put through his paces with all the replies and, worst comes to worst, I'd rather return it to a Australian address.

        • +1

          @RoboGuy: uh…. that base station is plugged into a 2 pin | | socket

guess it is BYO fig8 cable

        • @RoboGuy:

Thats a 2 prong wall power point you have just linked in your photo.

        • @RoboGuy:

          Hi RoboGuy,

Have you verified yet whether this should be tested for electrical legal compliance since it is classified as a hoover. Have you done this yet?

    • Fairly sure it would be an adaptor as opposed to a cable considering it's not manufactured for Australia. My advice is to invest in your own adapter in most cases.

Edit: forget my comment, roboguys already replied above.

    • It's a figure 8 power cable so if you really wanted one you can grab one from a store here or from a power supply you might have lying around the house.

      • This, but i just use a small adapter i had around in the garage.

  • I'm going to pull the trigger on this on Saturday once I pickup the STG card (nice way to kickoff the free qantas points). Please confirm that the deal will run as advertised and there is no stock shortage. THanks

    • +2

Yes the deal will run as advertised and no there will not be any stock shortage.

  • Can this be bought in USA i have a friend returning from there in 2 weeks

    • only through resellers.
so basically the same way we would buy it here.

    • It might be cheaper in the US. I know the neato connected one is half price in the US, even after the conversion rate.

    • wondering if the battery is allowed by airline

  • Bought. Hopefully it arrives in the somewhat near future!

  • Should I buy one when I already have a cleaner doing my house on fortnight basis?? Ditch the cleaners and get the vacuum…..but then no one will brush the toilet and clean the kitchen.
Maybe I should move back to my mum's

  • Hi Everyone,

I know this is a little off topic but for all those interested, the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter is now available for purchase for just $690.

    • Am I able to ride these on a Footpath in NSW? Might make my commute to work easier.

  • i have bought one from the site, will let everyone know how things goes!

  • +1

Ok, I couldn resist anymore, LOL. Bought one with priority shipping. Now the waiting game begins :P.

P.S. In other news, I got my lock pick kit and hdd enclosures today. Still waiting on the smart bracelet and smart watches :P.

  • Hi Roboguy I had ordered one from Qoo10 in Singapore for $368 including safety approved plug. According to their website I am allowed to cancel before shipment but not sure if they will. Even though your price is higher I would rather pay the difference for 1 year Australia warranty and plug. If I order from you and they refuse to cancel my order is it okay that you refund me my purchase. I don't want to be caught with 2 robots. Thanks. I will know within a couple of days if cancellation goes through.

    • +2

If they are unable to cancel you order and you have placed an order with us, then we can simply just cancel and refund your order so that you don't have a double up.

    • +9

I don't want to be caught with 2 robots.

mod them with weaponry and make them battle each other.

  • +2

    OK, I'll bite.
    Ordering now :)
Is there an ETA for when these will arrive in the country?

  • +1

Go on OP, tell us how many have been ordered so far…

  • +2

I bought one but I am quite concerned about how it's all going to pan out. Not saying it's a scam but everything feels like amateur hour. Even if we get it I'm not even sure they'll be around in a few months for any warranty matters. Only recourse is paypal and cc chargeback.

    • +1

ask for a Australian Certificate of Approval for declared articles

assuming they have that, they may have an idea beyond just filling a container

  • As above, when should they ship?

    • Well the deal ends tomorrow… so I'd imagine the order for (my guess 300+) vacuums would go in on Monday. A week or so for processing and 30 days for shipping. We should have the vacuum by 1 July!

      • Mines already shipped and should be here by Friday or Monday…

Alibaba is piss cheap if you can manage to put in an order and look after yourself though, could save up to $100.

        • Wow thats quick. I assume you went for priority shipping?

        • @ialam99:
Nah fellow Aus buyers said 10 and 12 days so I'm just working it off of that, my tracking says it has left Shenzen about a day ago.
It was free shipping from j-net and they listed it as up to 45days to arrive lol

  • Ordered!

  • OP - offtopic but since you have brought up your other products… I know you have the purifier 2 (which is what i'm interested in) but wondering when and if you can get the purifier pro model instead?

    • Yes, we can bring in the pro model, however just keep in mind that the pro model is based on the first generation air purifier and thus has not had the refinements which were made in the second generation air purifier. However, if you are seriously interested please email: [email protected] and we will organize something for you.

      • Thanks OP
I've placed order for the purifier 2 for now =)

As far as I understand the Pro is based off the 2 (being the 3rd generation model to cater for larger rooms and have led displays)
Maybe you can bring in that next and I'll look to add to the collection (along with the display sensor?)

  • Pulled the trigger on one with the pro kit. Went with priority shipping for $5 as i didnt want to wait 30 business days. Any ETA on dates?

    • Went with priority shipping for $5 as i didnt want to wait 30 business days. Any ETA on dates?

you're gonna be a bit upset then
pretty sure the $5 just bumps you to the front of the 'packaging and reshipping' queue, but you'll still be waiting the weeks for the bulk order to get from CH to RoboGuy in AU

    • It will take approximately 30 Business Days to arrive, we hope to have them delivered to you sooner but we have to allow time for any unexpected delays. Also, the $5 priority shipping option just means that your order will be processed, dispatched and shipped ahead of those who did not opt for the priority option.

      • +1

This is a pretty big statement which explicitly declares that 30 days includes buffering for any unexpected delays.

      • This was one of the reasons why I went ahead to buy the vac. However, after >30 business days of waiting (which supposedly was allowed for "unexpected delays"), OP had the cheek to expect that the buyers wait an extra 30 business days with no refund and even expresses his "disappointment". Buyers are treated like dirt.

  • how do these cope with hardwood floors?

    • +1

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner operates quite well on hardwood floor.

  • Cant wait, good luck Roboguy, hope you get our army of mini-darleks here soon!

  • RoboGuy's address seems a little suss. Will give it a miss.

    • oh yeah what the hell is that address?? middle of nowhere!! There's no property there either. This is looking VERY SUSS!! Did we all just fall for a scam?

  • -2

    Crap…you guys are right…
    https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/8018+Mahonga+Road,+Rand…

nooo…should we just start our paypal claims now?

edit:actually, further googling shows a building at that location…guess we just need to wait and see

    • +6

We are very privileged to be based out in the country away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. We are now processing your orders with our supplier. We will continue to keep you updated on your order status on our website and via this post.

    • +2

The address is consistent with other info people found about Roboguy here and in the whirlpool thread. He's a sole trader running a startup out of regional NSW. Still got plenty of time to lodge a paypal dispute.. I'm waiting for the delivery to come through. You'll get the satisfaction of owning a new robovac and helping a budding young entrepreneur in his early business venture.

  • +2

Decided to order from AliExpress instead - to me the 1 year AUS warranty offered here is no more meaningful than what I get from Aliexpress. Plus hopefully I get it faster than 30 business days …

    • And you probably will.

      • And it was delivered in 8 working days - not too bad!

    • How much did you get it for? Care to share the link pls

    • The only winner in this thread.

  • +1

To RG's credit when I got spuiked this morning I asked for a cancellation and refund. He responded almost instantly and provided a refund immediately. It seems that they're trying to do the right thing, just need to tidy up the website etc to build customer confidence.
    Wish him all the best.

  • +2

Ok, sale has finished. When we will get an update of when the vacs are have been shipped from China etc?

    • +2

We have placed an order with our supplier and the shipping process has commenced. We will keep you all updated on our progress.

  • Also I ordered some days ago and got an order of #15xx, did he sell that many of these things?

    • last 2 digits may be a good indicator.

    • +1

I ordered pretty early on, mine started with a #10xx. He's selling other stuff too, but I wouldn't be surprised if 300-400 are vacuums.

      • I Ordered 1pm Yesterday. Order Number #16xx

  • +6
  • +1

so still no update on shipping - all i have is an invoice processed number from 09/05/2017

    • I'm not sure they will provide any shipping updates yet. I could be wrong but these guys aren't doing drop-shipping. They are simply ordering a 'container' and will ship the items out individually when it arrives. So I wouldn't expect any shipping notifications for another few weeks.

      • +1

but shirley at least some email saying its left the factory or something to ease buyers minds that they havent fallen for some scam or data phishing site

        • +1

Even scammers can send you (false) updates ;-)
