use your credit card for protection

      • I used paypal with credit card ;-) Never know

    • . nothing…oops.

  • How does this go in the corners, does the side brush help?
The Neato is great at that, but have gone through 2 battery packs already.

  • Bought one. Cheers

  • +2

Maybe I am getting old, but how does a grey import get local warranty, when the item isn't even being sold in Australia?

Also, where are these shipping from? I am presuming China, therefore the long shipping times?

Is there a local phone number or an address to contact?

    • I would assume all dealings will be with Roboguy. They will organise the repairs etc. Having said that there would probably be a wait time as yes the item isn't sold here and he will need to send stuff back from China.
I guess if anything you'll save on postage costs to send it back to this fella if anything went wrong and you'd have dealings here instead of overseas.

  • 1699 RMB (330 AUD)in China, will definitely buy one from there next time.

    • I got 2 plus heaps of accessories from their official website and brought it in with my weekly container import :) My depot is in shanghai and they delivered it within 2 days.

It's an excellent unit. One for downstairs and one for upstairs. They need to invent a unit that can sweep stairs and it would be sweet!

      • +1

You should start bringing more of these in.

        • Na too much effort, its already a lot of work with 1x40ft per week.

  • +6

    Hey OP,

you should really give a bonus to the first 50 people who ordered this deal as this would not have been possible without them.

  • How long does PayPal "protect" your money for… What if it doesn't turn up before PayPal "protection" expires?

    • +2

Make a claim before it expires? 180 days now isn't it?

      • I see, didn't know it's 180 days!

    • +2

Pay via PayPal and PayPal via your credit card. In a worse case scenario, you can do a charge back on your credit card.

I had to do this for a Kogan transaction where Kogan and PayPal were dragging their feet.

  • Bought one priority, hope it arrives quicker than the 19-30 days otherwise I spent$5 for nothing

  • Any deals for the air purifier OP? ebay price seems cheaper now. Thinking of getting one but also looking at second hand air purifier models for half the price.. :/

    • $199 is the cheapest price we can offer for the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2, Keep in mind this price does include Free Shipping Australia Wide.

      • Does the airpurifier have an au plug?
        Is the app in english?

        • +1

The Air Purifier does have an AU Plug just like the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner, and the App is in English.

        • @sian72: Yes it is the same model as found on Gearbest.

        • +1

CN power plugs are directly compatible with AU sockets but they are not the same. They won't necessarily conform to Australian Standards (such as insulated pins). Also, if the cord is perpendicular to the plug pins, it won't hang straight down from the wall, since CN sockets are upside down.

  • Awesome! Ordered one but forgot to add the accessories can you get that ultimate kit and wall thing seperate?

  • Is it connected to the Internet?

    • You connect it to your home wifi and monitor it using the xiaomi app.

    • +1

It connects to the xiaomi servers and the device is synced to your phone. I can view the status when im not on the home wifi and control it. Its all a gimmick though. The app is only used to set up the scheduling and doing firmware updates. I don't use it for anything else.

  • Just bought. Hope it's legit and PayPal and credit card will cover if not..

  • So tempted with all the positive comments…

  • +2

How do you handle the warranty?

    • +5

The most legit question of all! For all I know this could be just one of the fire sale business to generate quick flow then close down.

      • That was my thought when it first popped up and I elaborated below.

    • MarketingRoboGuy on 06/05/2017 - 19:57
The Warranty is on a case by case basis, we would need to troubleshoot any problems that you experience before making the decision on whether the device would be repaired or replaced.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/304963#comment-4665121

    • Warranty is what I would like to know also. Will the unit be repaired here or by the supplier? And what's the expected turnaround?

    • I'm happy to buy grey-import cameras and lenses (and I suppose phones) but yeah for something with frequent use and inherently "mechanical" I usually wouldn't. I'd go the normal retailer with warranty, ACL protection, etc.

So my question is … will this ever be sold here locally or it can't be because it's not compliant with Australian standards in some way?

      • +1

Xiaomi don't really have an Australian presence, I reckon they might be hesitant to do it since a lot of their stuff is pretty close to existing products and they could walk into a bunch of lawsuits.

The product that is closest to this is the Neato Botvac Connected, which retails in Myer for about $1300 - so you can probably understand why people are keen on snapping this up from a greymarket importer at this price.

  • Bought one with the ultimate kit last night. You have 180 days to dispute through paypal anyway. So I'm guessing you wont have any issues for warranty for 6 months. After that who knows

    • Thanks for that.

was about to pull the trigger till I saw the hair test which is my house holds biggest issue with 3 cats

  • +2

    I am so confused.

If this was being on Ebay by Shopmonk (even though it has Ebay / Paypal protection).

This is being sold by some guy (or girl) from his basement with no address on the newly formed website. It allegedly comes with Australian warranty but I bet you have to go back to the seller. The seller could easily close shop (even genuinely) within a year and leave you out of pocket. If his batch comes in with an inherent fault then he could never afford to reimburse you all either.

    Am I missing something? :S

    • +2

That's the risk buyers are taking. Weigh up the pros (claimed local warranty, cheaper price than elsewhere online) against where you can get it from elsewhere.

      • Chances are the unit will have to be sent back to the wholesaler in China using slow postage (otherwise it will get too expensive) and then wait for it to be replaced or fixed and send back. Whole process may take up to 3 months.

      • +3

That's my mentality too. I mean we're talking about a product that's largely still in Chinese and not even officially supported in Australia.

If you want something that's got a legit warranty and support go buy a Roomba or Neato from Myer or David Jones and pay $1k.

    • +2

The seller doesnt even provide a phone number

    • I think most OzBargainers fail to understand…"cheap is not always good"..plus it's not really that that cheap…call it $300 then I will for sure take the risk of unclaimed warranty ..

      • +2

For all those wondering about warranty, we are actually currently working with BrightSide Cover to see if we can offer you all Extended Warranties on your purchases so that you have more peace of mind. We will let you know if we are able to sought something out.

        • +2

other than the extended warranty how does the basic 1 year warranty work?

        • +3

          @d39833:
Waiting on the answer to That also

        • I don't think most of us are interested in an extended warranty. I'm more keen on making sure you know your obligations under consumer law.

        • -3

          @BlitzR:
          As stated above:

          @RoboGuy:
don't forget because you're operating out of Australia you need to be able to repair, replace or refund.

          https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

for a $400 vacuum most people would expect minimum 2 years warranty by ACL?

        • @RoboGuy: Hmmmm… A quick google map on the address and the place is in some whoop whoop farm area.

    • Agreed. Too many upvotes for a deal that isn't even "confirmed". The price is good, but doesn't mean it's legit or even if the OP is capable of fulfilling the orders as no one has dealt with them before.

  • How does this do with dog hair. My dog has long hair, will it affect suction in anyway?

    • Short hair is ok, long hair it will get tangled in the brushes, but it comes with a cutting tool so its all good.

  • Thanks, I bought one before getting unpublished by the mod some days ago :).

  • +1

I don't need this… just bought one. Thanks OP!

  • Grey import, drop shipping but with a good price.
If they can sort out the warranty, this will be a really good deal.

  • How would it compare to Kogan's model here - https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/mygenie-zx1000-robotic-vacuum-c… ?

Also, how loud are these things?

    • It has much better suction power than the MyGenie ZX1000, also navigation is far more superior on the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner, the Mygenie cannot be controlled from your smartphone, nor does it have the advanced features and looks of the Xiaomi.

  • +1

  • I live in 2 floors apartment (50 sqm each) with only kitchen area tiled. The rest are carpet.
How effective this robot would be?
And how do I start cleaning 2nd floor, do I just put it randomly in any room / hallway?

    • +1

      buy 2… u know u want to

      • +2

Would bought 2 if that means I don't have to vacuum at all

    • basically just lift it up onto the second floor and let it go.

It should theoretically be able to do 100sqm on one charge it will probably take just over two hours from my stats.

It works on carpet pretty well but you will still need to vacuum ever so often. I pull out the regular vacuum maybe every 1-2 months…. (don't judge me).

      • Won't judge you at all…. I would probably do the same if this robot do good job.
        Thanks

  • It may have been asked already, but will this come with an Australian power plug?

    • +1

Yes it comes with an Australian Plug

      • Thank you! Ordering now. Will the maintenance kits arrive at the same time as the vacuum?

        • +1

          Yes they will

  • +1

Hi OP, A question - Will it be able to go over the 1 cm thick rug spread over the carpet to clean it or will it detect it as obstruction and not clean it?

    • Dunno but I watched this robo taking it head on with a bathroom rug and he managed to get up once.
      https://youtu.be/3Pn378dNRpc

But it climbed up carpets fine here.
      https://youtu.be/kahnrEaY078

    • my robot goes over my rug and cleans it.
It doesn't handle my bath mat too well so i need to pick that up off the floor.

shaggy carpets and any type of vacuum don't mix too well.

  • Hi,

Can you please confirm if the Air purifier is also free shipping?

    • Yes, the Xiaomi Air Purifier 2, and all other deals listed on our website include free Shipping Australia Wide.

  • purchase made with accessories. now the waiting game begins.

  • Just bought the air purifier I was charged $5 for shipping.. what happend to free shipping?

    • +1

There is free shipping provided, You have obviously selected the Priority option to have your order posted and dispatched first. If not please email [email protected] and we should be able to sought something out for you.

      • Yeh I just realised haha that's fine happy to pay the $5 if it makes a faster difference

  • +1

Any idea what height of lip between rooms this can deal with?

    • Same question.

  • I'm thinking of getting one for mum, does this robot transition well from tiled kitchen area to carpeted living room? What about rugs in the floor will it get stuck?

Also is the ultimate maintenance kit recommended? Any special discount there too?

    Cheers

    • +1

The Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner can handle transitions in floor surfaces quite well, as long as they are no higher than 2cm. Also, it should be able to climb onto rugs without getting stuck, but it really depends on what floor surface the rug is on and what type of rug it is. The ultimate maintenance kit provides you with the extra filters, side & main brushes, and the virtual wall, so if you are looking at purchasing any of those now or in the future it works out cheaper to buy them in the Ultimate Maintenance Kit. The pricing listed on our website is the best possible price we can offer for this device, as it is already heavily discounted. If you find it cheaper elsewhere please let us know.

      • Ok thanks for the reply.

How well does it move in between structures like couches etc and objects on the floor? How much clearance is required?

        • It's height is about 8cm. So anything over that should be OK to clear. My couch is low so it doesn't clear it but it does well under my bed, under the pram..

Xiaomi mi robot vacuum for ~$385AUD after cashback.

Cheaper. Any chance you can refund me the $15? :)

        • depends on if you want aus warranty or not.
