@gikku: Woah, highway goddamn robbery in action with those fees.

        • +1

          @dfaktz:

if you were in anyway intending to use these as an actual transaction account the unlimited for $6 would be a better deal, but so would the free ING, Citibank, nab, BoQ, Me Bank, …

85c for eftpos would be $17 a month if you did 20 transactions, coffee, lunch, maccas, woolies, Dans, …

        • @gikku: Oh no, I definitely wasn't.. Thanks for checking though — I'm aware how competitive everyone is at the moment aswell. I was just sheer surprised that they were still charging fee's like this.. and at that rate.. I have better fee's on my gambling cards..

.. I'm almost positive I didnt have a single one of those fee's when I signed up to bankwest at 16 nearly a decade ago.

      • -3

They could well be selling your Driver's license number to fake ID makers.

    • +13

$6 monthly account keeping fees if less than $2000 deposited.

      Set up account
      collect 50 bucks
      transfer to real bank account
close crappy illawarra mutual building society account.

      • I assume that they would know people will do this. Is there anything in the fine print that preventts this from happening?

        • +2

Yeah, I'd think that there'd have to be something that prevents people from doing that.

Then again, you never know, if a company just wants press and publicity then giving away free money is always a fair bet, however, considering that this particular company happens to be a financial institution, I'd think that giving away money might not necessarily speak to their financial expertise.

        • +2

@Jawanzar: Especially when we estimate that so far, they've spent $100-150,000 just on the OZB signups. (as of this comments timestamp)

      • I wonder what the overdraft fee is. hoping people will forget to close account at 0 dollars.

        • what, can u end up owing THEM money ???

        • @Iggemo: To a max of like, $20 (I ASSUME) only because I didn't see a creditors license through my entire signup

      • I think it says $6 fee applies if balance falls under $2000 at any time

Or am I reading it wrong

    • you were right ..there was a catch :)

    • And there was :-(
Targeted email offer only to those nearly 4600 who entered the earlier Mini competition.

Strangely 14 people still upvoted Deal after this was pointed out in Deal Description!

  • They used to have one like this for senior citizens before.

        • Now I'm wondering whether or not to wait a day to open so that the monthly fees won't apply till the day after they deposit the cash.. or if the offer will be gone by then after posting here and reddit!

  • +3

I believe the $6 monthly fee is only for the Everyday Unlimited Accounts.

Anyone else having issues opening up an account
I got this error 'Unfortunately we are unable to proceed with opening your account online'

I called them and they said that their system may be overloaded with the amount of applications coming through which may be causing people to experience that error

    • +9

Small regional bank about to be Ozbargained…that'll teach them. :D

    • +1

id say its was ozbargained!… not overloaded!

        Just worked for me :)

    • I just had the same problem. Frustrating if it actually requires going in to a branch.

Unfortunately we are unable to proceed with opening your account online.

Please call IMB on 133 462 between 8am to 8pm weekdays or 9am to 4pm on Saturdays to see how we can assist or visit an IMB branch.

  • it is not working

    • +1

do I need to go to branch or can I close online?

      • Maybe that's the catch?

  • +4

I get "Your referrer code has now been applied to your application." in a separate window but when I export to PDF, I get a blank pdf. Is this right?

    • The PDF appears after a while. Just a reference number.

    • mine is just blank too

edit: 5 mins later it has the info in it as the above fella said

    • yes I got blank pdf page?!

  • +1

Just tried this on mobile and never got an option to enter a coupon code - Everyday Account (not unlimited).

    • +2

Figured it out - the code is entered as the very last step after the application has been submitted.

    • I applied on mobile and after I submitted my personal details (and therefore receive the email), there was another link to enter the promotional code.

  • +1

    Think description should read

.. fee free if you select a IMB Cash Card and not the VISA card, so there should be no cost to participate.

  • +1

Has anybody gotten their member number yet by email?

    • i think their email system is ozbargained cos i was meant to get a password to resume my application but it also never came

  • +1

Got my email and password instantly. All registered so will await 5 July to see if $$$ appears. Cheers OP!

FYI you enter the promo code at the very end of the application.

    :(

    • I got the same :(

      • +1

OK i got it to work

what i did different from all my failed attempts

        • Switched to Chrome (failed in firefox)
        • picked "declare later" for TFN (failed when entering this now)

everything else i did identically the same so i hope this helps u

        • I did all that on my first attempt. I'll try again.

        • Failed twice in Safari for me, changed to Chrome, also failed. Same error as your was. I was choosing "declare later" for TFN for all three attempts.

        • +1

@dm01: Just got it again. I reckon it's due to load…

        • +3

          @subywagon: Agreed.

HEY EVERYONE, HOLD OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES WHILE I TRY MINE AGAIN, PLEASE!

        • @dm01: lol my thoughts too.. I wish they'd hold off for 1 minute! We should form a queue

        • +2

@subywagon: 4th attempt just failed…on a positive note, I've got the application process to under 2 minutes, and I have now my passport # memorised :D

        • +1

Didn't work for me. I did both steps above but same response. Maybe it is an overload issue. I'll try again tomorrow.

        • +1

@dm01: lol same. Under 2mins and my drivers licence number is now also memorised

    • managed to get one application through, got this message with the 2nd one…

  • Working for everyone? Seems to being ozbargained?

    • Nope, just failed for me.

      • Working perfectly fine and fast for me, just started and finished in last 10mins. If you're having problems please be specific.

        • "Unfortunately we are unable to proceed with opening your account online."

        • @dm01: Ah, it's been logged that you're a fail. AFAIK, reading other comments, this doesn't seem to be linked to IP and rather to device.. so, try clear cookies, a different browser.. or just an incognito window in chrome.

        • @dfaktz: Tried incognito mode, but really seems to be getting ozbagained hard now. When I try to enter address fields it comes up with a red error saying please try again later

        • @subywagon: I work as a network engineer and the site is showing no resource overload as far as I can tell anywhere — For this reason me and some others are giving suggestions for other things that would effect it.

It's very possible that you are right and I am wrong, but a few things to take into account.. 1) OZB really isn't that much traffic.. only the super-under prepared people on hosts that were already pretty bad get hit by OZB (reddit is of course a different story) and 2) It definitely feels like the 'backend' has paused ur details to stop extra server load by you retrying over and over, so lets say you accidentally failed the first time for.. whatever reason, now, no matter how good your info is; the system will not let you try again for 'xx' hours,

Usually sites that do the latter TELL YOU that you should try again in 2hrs or whatever time is set.

** TL;DR Do what it says, try again later, See link below. Sadly I only have possible explanations in the form of walls of text and not solutions buddy.
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/4753171/redir

        • @dfaktz: Thanks for taking your time to answer me. I've attached a copy of the error msg I received. Let me know what you think. Thanks

        • +1

@subywagon: Highly recommend that it's the problem I've linked to at the bottom of my message.

.. I would try and tell you to give it a shot after midnight.. but there-in lays the problem with servers(etc) - I don't know when their API service regards it as midnight to roll-over.
Though, I do know whoever is doing it for them, will have emailed the head of IT by now, warning them.. I'm also going to guess IT isn't 24/7 at IMB… so, I guess write out some random times, throw a few darts and you've got yourself an answer on when to check again.

Sidenote — Can't imagine what the office is going to be like tomorrow morning! to the CEO: "Hey uhh, boss man, we have over 5000 more accounts! but uhh there's just a little tiny problem you see.. they all used our promotion, we owe about $250,000 to them.. oh yeah they've overloaded our API's aswell.. we have to pay more for bigger plans"
