The included router on the 24 month contract is the Netcomm NF17ACV (http://www.netcommwireless.com/product/enhanced-vdsladsl-wir…)
The included router on the 12 month contract is the Netcomm NF10WV (http://www.netcommwireless.com/product/vdsl-adsl-n300-wifi-g…)
There is no included router on the month to month option.

Compared to many other NBN deals out there these guys are very well priced :D

Also - you can use your own equipment but it needs to support IPoE (static IP) on VLAN ID 100.

      • The CIS of my plan doesn't state that I need to provide notice of Early Termination. I'm not on a contract right now, it's month-to-month. But I want to use most of the cycle since I already paid for it.

        • Ive been month to month with the same ISP for nearly 10 years but they required 30 days, not all do Im told.

        • @Tuba: Yeah, I just contacted my current provider, and they told me I could cancel anytime.

  • Long shot, if NBN goes live in your area in September, is there a way people can take advantage of this offer. Not for me, for my inlaws who go live in September.

    • +1

In the last promo Jeremy allowed future dating on orders, wait for him to respond here! :D

      • That would be good. Cheers.

    • ^^^ Pssst, Jeremy….

  • Hi Jeremy,

Can I port my number from a virtual host? we have a local number ie. 03 9399 0000 diverted to a mobile (costly)
Can I port this to your service? and forward calls to a mobile if we don't answer?

  • I am almost tempted to change from TPG to one of these plans just for the router. The router TPG gave me with my current NBN plan only has a 2.4GHz connection for wifi, so the 100/40 benefits aren't even there with wifi devices. What is the process like for swapping NBN providers? I am currently not on a contract either.

    • If you're FTTP you can activate a new service on another port, then cancel the previous service (seamless cutover).
It just depends on how much time your previous provider requires.

For FTTN you may have a short downtime (1-4 hours as quoted by Jeremy earlier in the thread).
Also taking into account termination lead time notices from your previous provider.

  • I am currently using the FTTB service from TPG, is the modem Huawei HG630 they provide work with the FTTN service when I change to BuzzTelco or do I need a different modem?
and if I join the 24 month plan, will it cost any admin fee if I move home?

  • +2

You know what, i used to like these deals. But the last 3 i had from lesser known telco's with plans that were too good to be true, were just that.

Exetel, Myrepublic and more, i lasted 1 month before i had to get onto the TIO and force them to terminate my contract without any payout fees. they were absolutely shocking, yes they worked well right at the start, then went to shit real quick.

    beware guys

  • Hi Jeremy,
I signed up (moving from IINET's month to month - FTTP). Is there any way I can specify which UNID port to use? Didn't have an option when signing up.
    Cheers.

    • It normally automatically goes to the next available port.

    • I asked the same question, live chat and was told to let them know in the additional notes section when signing up, which I did.

    • +1

It will default to the next available port as Stix mentioned :)

  • When this code will be expired? Live chat member said it will be in a week. But BuzzTelco said will be at the end of this month. Which one is correct?

  • +1

Decided to join on an old OzBargain deal and didn't hear anything from them after signing up and found out that it would take around 3 weeks to transfer over my number. Read that they were having speed issues at the time also, so decided to cancel my order and stick with my current provider. Have spoken to Jeremy, Mostyn and Andrew and emailed their billing department and all have promised me a refund but haven't delivered and it's been a month now. Just today I've also been invoiced $49 for a service that I never got. Looks like off to the ombudsman I go, so be careful.

  • How does this free Netcomm modem compare to my Billion Bipac 7800N? Worth going to a lock-in contract or just get month-to-month and use my existing router?

    • The Billion doesn't seem to have inbuilt VOIP or 5Ghz wifi?
An upgrade might be nice ;)

      • Would I get the Netcomm NF17ACV on a 12 month contract as well? I only see the little brother version for 12 month…

        • Updated OP to clarify, it's the little brother version on the 12 month contract.

  • @BuzzTelco:

NBN will be available in my area in mid August with HFC. I'm currently with TPG ADLS2+ and out of contract. Can I back date the deal till mid August? Happy to go on a 2 years contract.

Also, how long usually will the downtime be? I want to time it correctly so there will be no internet disruption at home.

    Thanks.

    • I did the same and joined Buzz from the previous offer a few weeks before NBN went live in my area, going from TPG ADSL2+ out of contract to HFC NBN. It's a separate connection so cancelling the TPG connection was separate to Buzz. Basically just needed to swap modems over to the HFC one and was ready to go with no real downtime at all.

      • Did Buzz contract start from the date you applied or the date that connection went live?

Also, there is 30 days written notice required to cancel TPG. Did you time it efficiently so you don't have to pay for both?

        • +1

They said it would be from when it goes live. Its been more than a month since I signed up and I haven't been billed for a 2nd month yet. No, I didn't time TPG for 30 days notice. Was keen to get the connection all working first, and that took longer than expected because my router didn't support VLAN tagging…

  • Anyone give me an idea if this router is the best option for $150 up front? Will need to use for my phone line too.
    Any other/better options?

    Cheers.

  • Is there a way to get out of my Belong yearly contract?

    • Well from the CIS of the current Belong 12 month plan;

If you’re on a 12 month fixed term plan and you cancel after
activation but before the term has ended, you’ll be charged an Early
Termination Charge (ETC). The maximum ETC for your service is
$240 and decreases by $20 each billing month for a 12 month fixed
term plan. If you incur an nbn Connection Charge, any outstanding
monthly repayments for that charge will be added to your service
      ETCs.
Any ETC will be deducted from you credit card or PayPal account on
the date you cancel your service or shortly thereafter

  • +1

Just signed up with ABB and waiting for activation. The plans offered here is much cheaper :(

    • There should be a cooling off period

  • Thinking of joining. Have a Sagemcom F@ST 5355 gateway from Telstra. Anyone knows if it supports IPoE (static IP) with a VLAN ID of 100?

  • What would be the speed for a 100/40 plan, FTTN? I'm 1.2k away from the node ( NBN 'specialist' told me ). Im currently with Dodo, recently upgrade to 100/40 and very disappointing about the 'new' speed which is slower than 50/20 ! If this is good I will jump ship !

    • FTTN speed drops the further you are away from the node. Changing providers wont change your distance or max line speed.
1.2k is quite some distance from the node.

      https://nbnmyths.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/fttn-speed-grap…

      FTTN = VDSL2

      • You guys working late :D but that doesnt explain the slower speed though … Anyway the router will be return at the end of the contract or I keep it ? It's still cheaper than Dodo though.

        • I don't even work for these guys, I'm one of their customers :D

        • @Xetrok: Opps my apologized

        • @frewer:
          Haha, no stress :D

  • +2

    Another +1 for Buzz.
Initially was very disappointed with the customer service (lack there of) as it was taking longer to be connected than promised and tickets weren't being replied to. Mostyn who is the operations manager personally contacted me and turned things around. I'm very impressed that a company cares enough that the main man takes on feedback seriously and ensures the situation is satisfactorily resolved. After a call from Mostyn an email from Jeremy arrived within minutes with my log in details.
Overall very impressed and believe that this is a company that does in fact care about it's customers and is in it for the long haul.
My speed tests may not be of huge use to potential customers as I'm running two 100/40 NBN connections (the other ISP is Infinity which has also been flawless) through a load balancing router for redundancy but here goes:

  • +1

Don't have NBN available yet but was curious about your ADSL offerings, on the site it says to use the address checker to check availability, but there doesn't appear to be one, is there an issue on the site?

  • I don't get NBN until August 4th so in a months time but I want to sign up with this deal

So would it be possible to sign up?

    • +1

      Just confirm with live chat.
They said yes to me as I am in a contract and want to start the connection on a later date. They asked me to mention it in the comment while signing up.

I am not sure if the same applies to a place which currently does not have NBN.

  • NBN is planned to come to my suburb next month.
    mark

    • If you sign up you can mention a future date for your order, open a livechat with them and see what they can do for you :D

  • Their peak traffic on 100/40 still not what I paid for, but at least I still get 20-30 down, compared to 3-5 down with Optus. Considering their pricing, guess I could live with that..

    • Call Buzz and speak to one of the guys there. Also do speed tests and screen shot the results. They'll move your to a static IP and that should improve your connection. Unless you are far from the node etc

      • Well, I am on FTTP connection, so distance is not a factor, plus I already have static IP

        • Is your connection setup as PPPoE or IPoE?

        • @Xetrok: IPoE, I only needed to enter the ip address, not the username & pass

        • @Droid11:
That's weird, are you doing test over wireless or wired connections?

        • @Xetrok: wired. Just for comparison, which site do you site for speed test?

        • @Droid11:
          http://www.speedtest.net/ and http://beta.speedtest.net/
They both yield different results based on the speedtest server I've found.

    • Try fast.com also. Netflix speed test which seems to be more accurate.

  • I'm on the 100/40 with FTTN. Only managed 50/20 on PPoE. Issues connecting first and then was resolved. Moving over to static IP has been a complete mess up. Still don't have an active phone line even though I requested one some time ago.

Customer service is good and they are really trying to help however you do need to be on top of them and call or go on the webchat. Best of luck all.

  • Damn, just in 12th month of my 24 month plan with Spintel. :-(

  • This or Aussie Broadband? Currently with optus

    • You can always try BuzzTelco on a month to month with the discount, you just wont get a free router :P
If you don't like them you can just move along!

  • Does anyone know where I put my existing landline number to port?

    • +1

In the order details when you're submitting.
Make sure you provide the account number for the phone account and name on the account.

      • Appreciate it :) Thanks a bunch!

  • Hi Jeremy,
I asked before and you did answer, but I did not sign up last time. So just to make sure, we are being told that we get connected to NBN on 01/08. Can I pre-order at this price and what happens if there is a delay with NBN rollout? When do you start charging me?
    Thanks

  • @rep, this deal is awesome. I'm with Mate telecom NBN FTTP (Asquith NSW 2077). My bill anniversary date is every 6th of the month. Can I sign up now and get the service active, say on the 6th of August ? Thank you

    • FTTP will allow you to sign up for an internet service at any time and have it activated on the next port.
Go have a chat to them on their livechat system and they might be able to give you a timeframe for activation :D

  • +1

Definitely recommend this company. By the far the best customer service I have ever received from a Telco. Australian support, always happy to help and very prompt in answering questions(I only use online chat really). I signed up on Monday at 2.43pm, service was active at 8.56pm on Tuesday. Super impressed by the speed also, constantly hitting 85Mbps+/30Mbps. Over 90Mbps most of the time.

I changed from Telstra $90 per month for 25/5 and 500GB downloads, to Buzz Telco 100/40 Unlimited for $49 for the 6 months, couldn't be happier. As I have FTTP, they were able to activate it on UNI D2 so there was also no down time.

Might watch it for a couple more days before I disconnect Telstra, but love what I am seeing so far.

  • -1

Give these guys a couple of months until their links become contented and end up jacking up their prices to pay for bandwidth.

  • Hi,
Do I have to pay the NBN new development fee if I have already paid my current provider and I'm just switching ISPs?

    • I would doubt it if you've already paid it! Have a chat to the guys on their live chat.

  • Hi rep,

Do you provide Opticomm? If not, do you plan to in future?

  • Hi Jeremy,
is there a fee if i move home in the future?
Now i am using adsl with tpg, so 30 days cancellation notice is required, can i signup now and get activate around 5 August? the monthly charge will start after activation, is this correct ?
    thank you

    • $50 moving fee per CIS

  • Just confirming, as details in the post are a little confusing, if I join up for the 12 month contract I get the NF10WV router? At the bottom of the post you state "The included router is the Netcomm NF17ACV" but doesn't specify that it is only for 24 month contract..

    • Jumping through to the deal page;

Free NetComm NF17ACV on a 24 Month Contract

Free NetComm NF10WV on a 12 Month Contract

I'll update OP to be more concise.

      • If it was free modem on no plans I would have done it in jiffy. Or even better modem on a 12 month plan.

  • Hi Jeremy/Xetrok,

I was recently moved onto TPG FTTN as they promised there would be no interruptions and waived any connection fees switching from ADSL 2+ to FTTN. Naturally, there was a couple of days downtime leading up to the cutover. Anyways, I'm looking to change providers and BT looks like it fits the bill.

My question is, I have an Asus AC-RT68U which im looking to bridge with the Huawei HG659 that TPG provided. Will this work on your network?

If i was to apply today, realistically how long will take it to switch over? And do I need to notify TPG whatsoever?

    Cheers

    • I had the HG659 with dodo and it works fine with BuzzTelco.
Jeremy said there's a short downtime with FTTN churns (1-4 hours) but jsut remember TPG needs 30 days notice on termination.

      • So do I make contact with TPG to cancel first then apply for buzztelco? Back in adsl days, when you churn to other providers, they take care of cancellation with other providers

        • +1
          1. CANCELLING AN NBN ACCESS SERVICE
12.1. You may terminate the NBN service by giving us at least 30 days written notice. You must pay for charges for the service up to the end of the notice period.
12.2. If you cancel your NBN service before the end of your Minimum Contract Period, you will be required to pay the early termination charges.

Place your BuzzTelco order and future date the connection ;)

        • @Xetrok: Thanks mate

  • Hi i just got my email for payment. The service is acceptable overall for the internet. But i think i can get better. Can i have the proper setting for the ISP as i havent get the setting guide yet.
And my phone is not working yet, i have opt for a PAYG but till now, i still lost my phone number.
I have try to contact you and inform you that any number will do ( the old or give me a new number)

Please get y phone working ASAP

    • Do not cancel your old phone service until you are fully running or you risk losing the phone number.
You would be best chatting to the BuzzTelco team via email or livechat as OzBargain isn't an official support platform ;)

      • i have already chat twice with buzztelco team.
I did not cancel my old phone, but the service is disconnected as soon as buzztelco internet come in

        • Just be mindful that porting a phone number may take several days depending on the releasing provider.
Not sure how your internet is working if they haven't given you any settings! :P

  • Service went live yesterday with Buzz Telco, $49 for 6 months. Very surprised with speeds during peak and off peak and latency is great.

Feel for Mostyn as he had to deal with me for the day :) as there we a couple of issues I couldn't work out, but overall the service is fantastic.

Real positives here are it is a local business with local support and so far things are great with connectivity. Hope this continues :-)

    • How long between sign up and activation? What NBN tech are you on? FTTP?

      • Approx 2 weeks after sign up. On FTTN sadly however, getting around 70Mbps down and 30Mbps down which is satisfactory.

I hit them up on chat for the date which they provided straight away.

        • Thanks. I am on FTTP so hopefully should be soon. they said up to 48hrs. I have just cancelled Skymesh which ends on the 12th, so just making sure there is no down time for me.

  • +1

Interested in applying but 24month contract is too long but i want the NF17ACV.
@Jeremy, Can I get the NF17ACV modem on the 12month contract and just pay the difference in price?

    • I agree ACV on a 12 month plan count me in.

    • +1

      count me in too.

      • +1

        Same

        • They won't do it, let's move on.

      • I tried no luck.

  • Im on skymesh with no contract atm, do I have to tell them to cancel me or is automatic if I sign up? Is there a setup fee on the 12m contract? Also what is the fee for leaving early? Thanks

    • Edit: Chat to BuzzTelco via email or live chat. There's no setup fee but ETC would probably apply if you leave the contract early.
Best if you cancel your service manually after being connected.

  • Got connected with Buzz on 25/5 plan and have had no issues so far. Speeds fairly consistently hover around 24/4.5.

Only negatives are that proactive communication is fairly lacking, albeit made up for by fantastic live support over the phone and livechat. Other thing to note is your hardware needs to be able to VLAN tag 100. That wasn't mentioned in my initial set up instructions but doesn't work without it.

    • Damn I have a DIR-850L I dont think it supports VLAN tag :( Thanks for the info mate

      edit:

Nice timing , thanks dlink :)

      Hardware: B1
      Firmware: V2.08
      Date: 10/05/2017

      Changes/Bug Fixes:

      1. Add VLAN Tagging
  • +1

I joined Buzz Telco on their last deal, I opted to provide my own modem which is a Netcomm N600 dual band, Got it of Gumtree for $50 and does the job.
First time ever I've set up a modem, They sent me details on connecting with them on a Static IP….Perfect!
Im reaching speeds averaging 90+ download and 30+ upload.
Been chatting/logged ticket about phone connection, my fault as I didn't tell them to port it over so they are working on it now and provided ETA.
They have been great throughout the whole process, even keeping us updated with the hiccup that happened previously.

As it stands moving from Telstra to Buzz Telco was the way to go and 1/3rd the price.

Jeremy and Mostyn, A+ for customer service

    Cheers Guys.

  • would a Netgear d7000 work for FTTN with BuzzTelco?
