Compared to many other NBN deals out there these guys are very well priced :D

  • Have to say so far new customer on application process smooth doing it online but the getting the order filled has been no communication from buzz unless i email or phone them with updates need to sort this out guys if reading this post
Im hoping once connected up its worth the waiting

  • would you be able to offer wireless nbn and whats the best you could offer. voip would be needed as well. (instalation would be needed as well)

  • Looks to me that people are getting mixed experiences for the service. Looks a good deal commercially and am looking to try them out. Just a quick question for the community - would my tplink archer d7 modem router work with this - http://static.tp-link.com/res/down/doc/Archer_D7_V1.0_Datash…

Apologies but I tried looking into the data sheet but couldn't figure it out. Appreciate your assistance !

Tried the chat but couldn't get through as I understand they are running busy. I will keep trying that as well but would be great if someone can confirm here.

    Cheers !!

      Hi,

      I've got the D7 too.

I believe the D7 only supports FFTP, not FTTB or FTTN.

So if your NBN is FFTP, you're golden.

If you're FTTB or FTTN you'll require a modem with VDSL (free on the 12 or 24 month plan), which the D7 doesn't have. However you can then hook up that modem to the D7 to take advantage of the D7's great wifi if you like.

  • For those on NBN via HFC are your speeds & ping reliable? I'm currently on Telstra cable which is super reliable, however Buzz have told me I'm eligible for NBN HFC. I'm considering jumping ship.

    • +1

I am on HFC and the ping is 9ms, speed is around 70-90Mbps. My router is too old to handle faster speed.

  • Signed up to the standard plan 2 weeks ago. Old ADSL dropped out last Wednesday with no notification from Buzz.
They were very helpful in getting my modem set up over the phone though.

My speeds are: 4.14Mbps down, and 0.89 Mbps up. Yes, that is not a typo. http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6486762330.png

I am using the Netcomm NF17ACV modem purchased from Buzz.

    I feel sick.

I've contacted them several times, and have been told:
    1. They will look into it and get back to me. Of 4-5 chats, I've had 1 follow up later.
    2. Will be up and running by the end of the day. It's not.

I don't even want to talk about the phone port fiasco. I'm giving these guys one more chance,as they do seem to really want to get it sorted. But right now, I'm not happy.

    • Are you FTTH, FTTN or HFC? What is the sync speed of your modem? You could have a line fault too that is out of the control of Buzz, but must be logged with NBN co to fix.

      • FTTN. NBN has only been available in my area for a couple of months or so.
At work so not sure of sync speed.

    • What suburb are you in?

    • I have FTTP and getting mediocre speeds.
I can get anywhere from 1mbps to 90mbps download. Upload is consistent around 35mbps.
      I doubt I have a line fault.
I keep contacting them almost daily to get BS, "no update yet, "I will follow up", "you'll get email in an hr" "blah blah blah" and I never hear back.
Changed to their modem NF17ACV too just to make sure the issue isn't my old router.. same.. might even gotten worse.
4-5 chats and not even any follow up for me… consider yourself lucky.
I think what you pay for is what you get. This is just rubbish service.

      • Just ran another speed test. http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6494182057.png

        Yep, that's 4.91Mbps down, 0.75Mbps up.

Still no phone after updating modem settings as instructed yesterday, and being told it would be on line within 2 hours.

I have spoken with Mostyn several times, and he is always very helpful. I would say the service has been excellent, it just hasn't fixed it.

I like these guys, they seem like they are really trying to get everything running the way it's supposed to. I'm going to stick with them for a bit and see if we can get it sorted.

      • +1

        Yep, same here.
My speed is between 12 to 40mbps download. Upload between 3-30mbps. Even streaming youtube is a pain.

Kept getting, "we will get back to you in xxx hr", but yes, nothing.

        So far they are disappointing.

do we have cooling off period?

If we do, i might go back to tpg (was getting ~90mbps constantly).

  • +1

Got connected with Buzz yesterday and very happy with how it all turned out. Here's my experience.

I signed up on the 7th july and received my modem on the 12th. I contacted them on the 20th to see if the NBN techs were coming.

Got confirmation of a booking through email on the 24th, the tech guys came out and installed the NBN box on the 25th and was connected the next day. All done before my 30 days cancellation notice was up with TPG.

The modem configuration settings that were emailed out were not easy to follow. They really needed a step by step guide to go with it. But I gave them a call and they walked me through it and was up and running in 5 minutes. Amazing service!

My first speed test was running at 91 mbps down and 32 up at 4:30pm.

    • You were on NBN or ADSL service with TPG? And NBN technician came on the same day of appointment or next day? I have technician comming on the same day when TPG will cancel my service otherwise I will have to reschedule my NBN Tech appointment earlier. Please advice. Thanks,

      • I was on adsl with tpg. The technicians came out on the day they said they would. (between 1-5pm of course) They even gave a courtesy call to say they were on their way.

I wouldn't worry too much. I was connected less than 24hrs after the tech guys did the installation. You can still use tpg until it cuts off. Worst case scenario is you have no internet for a day.

  • Can I get the Netcomm NF17ACV on a 12 month contract and pay the price difference for the device?

    • Give their number a call, they were able to help me out with this very question.

      • Did you get NF17ACV on 12 mnth contract. Alternatively how good is this modem vs the one they give on 12 months contracts otherwise ? I am seriously contending to move on Buzz from my current ISP (Belong).

        Thanks

        • I have the NF17ACV on 12 month contract. The Buzz service rep was very helpful in offering the upgraded modem on the 12 month contract for a very reasonable fee.

If you currently are on the NBN with Belong and you are happy with the function of your modem, then you won't need to order a new modem at all.

The NF17ACV offers a number of improvements over the basic modem. For me the addition of gigabit LAN ports and 5GHz WiFi made it worth the extra expense.

        • Thanks that must be for $50 unless you were lucky. I signed up for 24 month contract. Good luck.

          @uzz30:

    • Yes! It costs $50 more. However, do a live chat with them to make sure.

      • Yes it was $50 extra. I went for 24 months contract anyways. The price looks good for a 100/40 connection and reviews arent that bad. Fingers crossed now.

  • I'm really keen to jump on this after having been with Westnet/iiNet for quite a while. However I don't think my current router supports VLAN stuff and I wanted to do the month by month option to start off, so getting the packaged router is not going to happen.

Is the VLAN stuff absolutely necessary to get NBN from Buzz? Or is it just for VOIP stuff (which I wouldn't be using)? Hard to find a modem in town for a reasonable price that would support VLAN!

    • +1

I signed up yesterday after confirming my router supports VLAN tagging and have been connected today and not needed VLAN tagging to set it up. I'm on FTTP, so YMMV.

      • +1

Yep, I just finished a live chat with Mostyn who has confirmed VLAN tagging is not required for FTTP connections (which I'm on too). So I've signed up!

OP might want to update the description to mention FTTP does not require VLAN tagging?

I signed up with BuzzTelco after looking at this deal and recommendations. One of the best provider so far, quick to connect (within 48hrs NBN got connected), amazing customer service, had issue with phone number so i called their technical support it was checked and fault was raised on same call and issue rectified in couple of hours.

Speed: download between 85-95Mbps, upload 35-40Mpbs most of the time i tested.

  • Just signed up.

  • A little disappointed, I signed up on 20th July (transfer from myrepublic), was told it'd take 7 days.
Heard nothing so I contacted them on Thursday, modem hadn't been sent out, was being sent Friday (it arrived today).
No idea when I'll be connected.

    • Yeah well I'm still waiting since 14th July.

    • If you're on anything other than FTTP (which can be setup on the 2nd port), your problem is MyRepublic not relinquishing the port.

    • Well, I've just been told it is finally going through - hopefully.

It is a FTTN connection (UGH!) any yes, they told me MyRepublic were not responding to requests for porting.
I blasted MyRepublic about it on Friday once I knew, I wish I'd known earlier what the delay was.

  • Just missed, it's already expired. I have to go with myrepublic. same offer $60 for 100m.

NBN guy came in this morning and had the installation done.

Mine is FTTN, and NBN speed test shows I'm getting 100/40.

I will upload speed test once Buzz connects me.

    • dts88,
FTTN, no one needs to come out. This is done at your nearest Node. Copper from House to Node. Any way, I am on FTTN 100/40 and getting Downstream (Kbps): 32822…Upstream (Kbps):17060 NBN Sux

      • +1

Was told the node isn't too far from the premises. The speedtest result came straight of the modem, not from the node. The actual reading was 102/39.9.

You may check your potential speed from optus website by keying your address. Mine one had like 80-95 dl and 25-35 up.

        • dts88, have you got a Link Optus NBN Speed. Unable to find :)

Thanks, it seem spot on. Estimated Maximum Speeds: 58-100 / 25-40 Mbps
The lower Results are what I actually are getting. So I would go the lower Number dts88. Shame ISP's cannot tell us this when we Sign up:)

          @megod:

Got mine tested yesterday and this morning

Using 5ghz wifi, speed was beyond 90mbps. Most of the time hit 94-96mbps. UL was around 35-39.

          2.4ghz wifi was around 65-80mbps, 30-39UL.

I'm very happy with the speed, in especially on FTTN connection.

        • @dts88:

I know the deal has expired but just thought I'd share my experience.

Signed up to 100/40 plan using the discount code on Jul 28th and was connected to NBN on the Aug 4th (7days) :)

Spoke to Alex from sales initially who answered all my questions over the phone and any emails I sent him during the whole process. Also dealt with Andrew regarding VoIP setup who was also very helpful.

Estimated downtime was said to be anywhere between 2-4hrs, but ended up experiencing 7 hours downtime between ADSL disconnection and FTTN NBN connection. Didn't get an email or call from Buzz for 4hrs after adsl cut off so I chased them up on 2 occasions and they claimed NBNco hadn't signed off on the NBN connection so they couldn't do anything, but they did say they would investigate it and shortly after I was connected :)

I'm using the Netcomm NF17acv as my BYO modem router and initially had issues setting up the internet connection based on the email instruction provided by Buzz Telco, but called support and was given the correct steps over the phone and was online within minutes. I documented the modem Internet/VoIP setup for the NF17acv for my own records but if anyone needs the correct steps for setting up a Netcomm NF17acv with a BuzzTelco FTTN NBN Connection here it is https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lMh48ZR3Hnewav1rDI4NZN2U…

I'm in West Hoxton NSW on an FTTN connection and my current line rate is 73down/32up. Speedtest to Telstra Sydney servers at different times of the day provides me with a speed ranging from 30-50down/25-30up, sometimes slower during peak times. Bit disappointed with overall speed, I feel this may be due to CVC congestion which I should follow up on but at the moment very happy with it coming from a bad adsl connection getting 5down/0.75up.

  • this is my speedtest http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6518337857 so freaking slow i am on a 100 speed plan worst speed ever i think buzztelco have a big congestion problem thank god i am on a month to month plan hope they lift the game plan or we leave

    • Are you in Adelaide? For some reason speedtest.net thinks AAPT IPs/connections are in Adelaide and that's which test server it directs you to.

      • yes in adelaide and have hfc

It's because that's where their office and the IP address range is registered to. Just go into settings and pick AARNET in your city and see the speed jump.

      • What downstream and upstream is your modem syncing at mate? HFC (I'm guessing) or FTTN?

        • FTTP

          And how do you check?

          I'm using Asus AC68U

        • @rockuman_ex:

          Interesting about FTTP.
Go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari etc) - log in to the modem's settings (admin username, admin password).
Look for the connection statistics and post your downstream and upstream.

I'm consistently getting 35mbps download (even in peak hour) from speedtest.net from FTTN - also on Buzz and in Brisbane.
I'm on the 100/40 plan but due to my distance from the node and line conditions, that is the best I can hope for (I'm syncing at 35-36000kbps).
          What suburb are you in?

        • @Alister:

at work now, will check later.

$59 a month have to say its cheap eveb for what im getting and month ti month unlimited

  • +1

If anyone is wanting a more accurate speed test, I'd suggest having your PC directly connected to the modem with an ethernet cable. A wireless connection can halve your intended speed. Here's some of my results.

On a wired connection I'm getting between 80-94mbps Down and 30-39 mbps up.

    A 5ghz wireless connection I'm getting between 60-85 mbps down & 20-35 mbps up.

A 2.4 ghz wireless connection is noticeably slower, around 20-40 mbps down and 20-30 up.

    • at my brothers place whose with ABB his useing a X10 and my house well not even close shocker

A 5ghz wireless connection his getting between 97-99 mbps down & 35 mbps up.

A 2.4 ghz wireless connection is, around 65-70 mbps down and 30 up.

      • Nice. I was originally going to go with ABB but the low price offered here sealed the deal. I know Buzz has been hit or miss with some.

  • I've been waiting since the 14th of last month to have a simple VOIP line set up, not even porting. Have contacted them through live chat 4 times in the last week. Keep getting told it has been escalated to Jeremy, heard nothing. Internet service I can't complain about, been getting good speed. Customer service however is the worst I have ever had. Complaint to TIO is being drafted and will be sent on Monday if I don't hear anything. Had enough.

  • Ordered on 26th July with port, connected on 11th august. 100/25 hfc nbn south east melbourne
Check out my @Speedtest result! How fast is your internet?

    http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/i/2207056283

  • Not that good experience with customer service as some of you had. I had few issues with service installation which I have to solve by myself. When I call to Buzz Telco, guy says I will get back to you which is never happened and I have to chase them all the time. However, I will give 4/5 stars for customer service as they always happy to help you. And very happy with the speed on 25/5 plan which is
Ping 9ms, Download 22-23.8 mbps and upload around 4.77mbps

  • I haven't had any problem with my 25/5 connection. My connect was connected on the day I requested however there supplier delay the sending of my router by 1 day. They ended up starting my connection on the next day.

Connection speed is fine and the price is below the market which is 60 a month for a 25/5.
I find the connection more stable then our previous Optus connection which was 110 a month.
My connection is a FFTN NBN in Bentley. This is also the reason why I did not buy a 100 connection.
There too many factors to be able to connect at that max speed.

Please remember that if you are in an area were ADSL and NBN connections are active you will not be able to connect at the max speed of 100.

    • Ahh u might be able to connect to 100,has nothing to do with adsl bur distance. Check your modem stats and see at what speed you are syncing at

  • Exactly one month after signing up… still account pending. No reply backs from any form of communication.

    • Agreed. Disappointed with all the hype suggesting buzz telco was a great ISP. Today is suppose to be cutover date from TPG. The only email comm I've received was when I signed up to buzz a month ago.

No confirmation on cutover dates, config settings, no welcome emails nothing.

Glad I'm on the no contract plan, it hasn't been a good start so far….

  • Approx 5 weeks since signing up on this deal.

Initial experience - Not good with customer service as I had to chase them up for everything, no communication on connection dates or modem delivery.

I was advised to be home for the install, but they did the install while I was out at a different time!

Had to contact them to get through the set up as there needed some fiddling to be done. But tech support were okay and got it done.

2 weeks to date after getting my connection up and running. The first day was a bit slow (45Mbps Download/30Mbps upload), bit…. I am Consistently seem to be getting over 75Mbps Download/35 Mbps upload via speed tests on my S7 Edge.

I haven't had any issues since install.

  • Signed up on July 31st. FTTN.

Got the modem quickly, however NBN tech took a bit of time until I got the appointment and connected yesterday.

Don't bother setting up using the email instruction. Mine is just plain wrong. So those who wants to set up the first time might as well just give them a call.

Anyway customer service was good, set up was easy with them. Speed test at around 9 - 10 pm showed 97Mbps dl - 37Mbps ul

Still need more test to see how reliable the connection is, but so far so good.

I was just on live chat on Buzz Telco website with Alexander and he informed me that they would be bringing out a new promotion earliest tonight or by end of this week !!

  • For those who are lucky to get good speed. As for me i get speed between 4-46. I ask them how can i get better speed. this is what they said.

Andrew (buzz-telco) You are currently in whats called a "nbn Co-existence Period" this is where nbn reduce speeds as they are running along side the adsl network, unfortunately during this period you speeds will vary, but they will progressively get better towards the end of the coexistence period

Me - when will that be? how long do i need to wait

Andrew (buzz-telco) - It can last up to 18 months after nbn first became available in the area

    Me - so i can't get more than 50

Andrew(buzz-telco)- It will progressively get better, nbn dont actually guarantee any speeds over 12/1Mbps during co-existence

  • Don't sign up with them, the are good at beginning but later speed goes worse and they take ages to get it sorted. https://www.productreview.com.au/p/buzztelco.html

More than 10 days since case was logged, multiple speed test shared with traceroute and ping result but no hope so far to bring it back to speed. I am paying for upto 100Mbps speed package and after 1st week of installation getting 10,20,30 etc download speed.
