The included router on the 24 month contract is the Netcomm NF17ACV (http://www.netcommwireless.com/product/enhanced-vdsladsl-wir…)
The included router on the 12 month contract is the Netcomm NF10WV (http://www.netcommwireless.com/product/vdsl-adsl-n300-wifi-g…)
There is no included router on the month to month option.

Compared to many other NBN deals out there these guys are very well priced :D

Also - you can use your own equipment but it needs to support IPoE (static IP) on VLAN ID 100.

    • It's VDSL2 so highly likely, just login and check static ip IPoE settings to sensure you can set VLAN id 100 :)

      • I take it im good to go? http://imgur.com/a/5cYOI

        • +1

highly likely, it looks like VLAN is a drop down so I'm not sure on that one.

        • @Xetrok:

Thanks bud , its expanded here http://imgur.com/a/STjfY

        • Connected to Buzz on D7000 modem router today, FTTN. Works fine. No voip on them though.
DOnt confuse the D7000 with R7000, the later will not work without a VDSL modem connected.

  • Does this price include home phone rep?

    • You can elect to have a phone service ported/activated at either PAYG rates or add on a $20 unlim national call pack.
PAYG Rates: Untimed Local & National Calls $0.20/call, National Mobile Calls $0.20/minute, 13/1300 Calls $0.45/call.
$20 Unlimited National Call Pack: Unlimited Local, National and Mobile calls (requested on checkout).

      • This is VoIP isn't it? What's the quality like?

        • +2

Not sure yet, VOIP number getting setup today with Buzz :)

        • Its VOIP. They all are on NBN Im told unless you have a separate line.

  • Just after some advice. Need a new router as my Billion Bipac 7800N apparently won't be able to handle the 100MB/s. Not too keen to sign up to the 24 month plan to get the better router and the 12 month plan router seems pretty useless (doesn't appear to have gigabit LAN ports). Would consider 12 months but probably go month to month. So question is, do I pay the extra $150 for the better netcomm router or pick up a ASUS or Netgear R7000 which have been recommended elsewhere (whirlpool and here)? Connection will be FTTN if that makes any difference..
    Cheers

    • I'm using the TP-LINK Archer VR200v AC750 on my FTTN connection with Buzz and it works fine.

      http://www.msy.com.au/viconline/peripherals/18087-tp-link-ar… ($128)

Have a look at it :)

    • Wonder if rep could give us an upgrade to the 24mo router on 12mo plan for ~$50 outright (difference in cost).

      • Give them a call or jump on LiveChat and ask :)

        • Sadly a no go, but if it's VDSL (FTTN/FTTC) you can connect another existing router by the WAN port and use the included router as nothing more than a VDSL modem. The WAN port is gigabit.

If it's FTTP/FTTH I believe you use this WAN port for your connection - this method won't work then.

tl;dr: Simply connect existing router by the gigabit WAN port and it'll serve fine as a VDSL modem.

        • They said they like my style but they don't care.

  • Signed up , how long does it usually take to transfer over?

    • +2

Give them a call or drop in on live chat and ask them for an ETA - it's usually pretty fast if you're already NBN connected.

      • no worries , thanks mate

  • does the Sagemcom Gateway F@ST 3864OP from optus work with vlan tagging 100?
    is it a good router?

    • You'll need to login and check to see if you can manually set this in the connection settings.
A google search doesn't yield many positive results.

      • so the Netcomm NF17ACV is the best one at the moment?

        • +1

It's a feature rich router which would suit the majority of peoples needs.

NBN is coming to my area. Could I ask one of Buzz's reps to answer the following question:
In the last couple of years, there have been a number of providers providing NBN services (including unlimited 100/40 speeds, etc.). It appears initially when there are less customers that speeds are great but give it a few months once it becomes popular, speeds significantly decrease particularly in peak times given the congestions. Accordingly, how will Buzz seek to manage congestion in traffic should it become too popular with users - does it have plans in place?

  • Got told 2 to 3 days to transfer from current provider, my skymesh account gets canceled on the 8th :( Sure I read the rep say 1 - 4 hours somewhere on here

    • They said downtime will be as little as 1-4 hours.
They still need to submit the order to NBN etc.

    • i got connected in about 8 hours.

    • How long a notice do you need to give to skymesh? I am thinking of jumping from skymesh to this. My month starts on 21st with skymesh.

  • Damn Skymesh don't match "Unlimited" plans, only ones that specify the data provided, which seems to be a BS clause. Might make the move.

Anyone know if the TP Link TD-W8968 supports VLAN tagging? I've tried googling and the manual and can't for the life of me find it. Certainly has a VLAN configuration setting, but seems only to be able to set up a VLAN group and assign WANs and LANs to this group.

    • +3

You'll be better off to move away from Skymesh anyway.

  • How long this deal will last for ?
The router will be return at the end of the contract or I keep it ?
Theoretically, I move to a new house in 8 months, any cost involve ?

  • +1

Came here to say what others have already said. Signed up with them a month or so ago and their Customer Service has been phenomenal. Highly recommend.

  • +1

Got connected today, downloading from international servers in pretty slow, getting about half the speed of my old isp.

  • @BuzzTelco
When this deal expires as I have to give 30 days notice to my current provider…Please

  • why 24 months if you can sign up for 12 months contract (discount will last the life of your service)?

    can anyone enlighten me?

    • better router included for $0

  • +1

Can anyone point me to international calling rates? I can't seem to find any info on their website

  • The only issue i'm worried about it congestion during peek hours for fttn and their support services. Some say its good, others not so much. Telstra has been great since signing with them (constant speed and support), but they're still way too expensive for the limited amount of data.

  • Store Rep Question: Would the Linksys X3500 be an ok modem via HFC NBN with BuzzTelco?. Considering getting Mum on board with your 12/1 + $20 for the Unlim Calls.
She is a pensioner and is currently on TPG with her Phone/ADSL2+, and NBN has just became available.
Is there anything I should be aware of so she has a smooth transition?.

    http://www.linksys.com/au/p/P-X3500/

    • Give them a call or email :D
It will need to support VLAN tagging - NBN also need to change your HFC box I think?

  • What happens if Buzz folds in 1 years time, do the NBN shuffle onto next company?

  • I hadn't seen a response to my post about the suitability of the TP-Link Archer D9 as a router on a HFC based service? (and someone else asked about the D7). Can anyone comment please?

    • Even I was curious to know the answers to this, did little bit of research and found that both Archer D7 and D9 support only FTTP or FTTH connections only and if you are FTTN then no luck here… correct me if I am wrong …
Also does anyone have any idea about TP LINK VR600 … I am inclining towards this model as my current TD-W8980 is not compatible with FTTN

    • I can't comment on HFC as I only have FTTP/FTTN.
If NBN come and install a HFC NTD equivalent for HFC like they for for FTTP then you shouldn't have any issues assuming it suppurts VLAN tagging.
I'm using the TP-Link Archer VR200v v2 which supports VLAN tagging and IPoE.

Whirlpool thread confirming D9 for Cable: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2596822 but possibly not VLAN tagging.

      • Thanks. I guess that was my concern too as I couldn't see how to do VLAN tagging though it might be there somewhere.

      • Hi. Noticed you mentioned you're using the VR200V. I looked through the manual and can only see how to set the VLAN ID for an individual LAN port. Can it be done for the WAN as well? I even asked TP-Link online support and they said it couldn't be done.

  • Is the VLAN Tagging (VLAN ID 100) only for the phone (VOIP), or for the basic internet service too? Seems like WAN side VLAN Tagging support on routers can be patchy. I'm on FTTP.

  • @BuzzTelco if i was to sign up on the 25/5 plan is there a way to upgrade to the higher speed plan at the discount price the nbn has only just activated in my area and im not sure where my node is or what speed i can get

  • Thanks OP. Finally can be rid of iPrimus.

  • How long does it take to be provisioned? Never had NBN before at my place fttp?

    • +1

Make sure you're in an NBN connected area: http://www.nbnco.com.au/connect-home-or-business/check-your-…
If you're on FTTN then it depends on the NBN appointment - could take maybe 7-14 business days.
If FTTP and you have your NTD installed then it could only be a few days.

      • Thanks. I have fttp but without existing connection service. New development. Got charged new development fee $300 :(

        • What does that fee even mean, wasn't nbn mean to be free connections

        • +1

@Dezeption: some government law to recoup the loss of money connecting people without previous internet connections. Sigh

        • @Micoa:
is it new home or what ? did you ever get connected before… new development fee means new NBN connections or something else… I am concerned because I currently have adsl2+ but want to get NBN as my area has just got NBN ready, will I get charged as well ?

        • @koolchamp81: new home. If you already have a existing phone service no need to worry :) it would be free

        • @Micoa: Thanks for the clarification…cheers

  • Do we know if we can forward date the start date of this deal?

    • +1

You can place an order with them for a future dated connection.
Best to have a chat with them directly :)

  • Is there any early cancellation fees for the 12 and 24 month contracts? The Critical info pages on the website only talk about the 1 month plans.

    • +1

Early Termination Fees apply to you, if you choose to cancel the service before the end of the life of your contract. Early Termination Fees are charged at a rate of $25.00 per month for each month left on the period of your contract.

      • That sir is a gouge, but that's what you sign up for.

        • Seems pretty reasonable actually.

        • @Pleasure Paulie: If totally disproportionate to the cost of the included "free" hardware and making money for nothing, then yes, your username checks out.

  • Just signed up for a future dated connection, to take into account Skymesh's 30 day notice period. Thanks OP!

    • Where was the option to do a future dated connection? Couldn't see an option so I signed up and just left a message that I was finishing up with TPG in 30 days and left the cut off date. Haven't heard back yet but I'm pretty sure they are bombarded since this posting on Ozbargain.

      • Yeah, they are getting hammered.
In checkout you can enter additional information :)

      • yup, the guy on the chat thing just said to put it in the additional comments. They charged my credit card straight away, but I assume that's for the period starting on the date that I noted in the comments.

I can't see anything on their portal or on any of the emails yet to say that the future date has been taken into account.

On a side note, I also got Skymesh to future date the cancellation of their service so that it would occur 1 day prior to the next billing cycle. So essentially they start the 30 day countdown to line up just prior to the billing cycle.

  • +3

Too much hassle to get in touch with sales nor online chat.spent more than half an hour on phone, and more than an hour on live chat, and still not able to find someone to help me.

Great deal for NBN plan. I would rather pay a little bit more for better communication isp.

    • +3

My son spent 75 minutes on hold today to get through to support, only to be told the details they originally emailed were incorrect and here are the new ones, which don't work either.

    • I have used online chat 4-5 times with Buzz. Mostyn has started within 1 minute every time and fast, direct reponse to all my queries.

They are doing a great job!

  • Cut over from Skymesh to Buzztelco. I ran a speed test just before 5pm and speed was about 85 up, 35 down. Very happy with that for the price. Better than what I was getting with Skymesh at the same time of day.

    • +1

Should be 85 down and 35 up?

      • Sorry, yes. Typo

  • What the hell is going on?

I cannot find the damn chat button….WTF gives?

I tried Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Opera and also Chrome and Opera on Android phone, and NONE of them show the chat button.

No filtering of any kind being used.

    It's driving me nuts.

    • It's not active 24/7 - only when they are logged in.
Usually business hours is a good bet for the live chat.

  • Did anyone else have TPG try to win you back when giving 30 days notice? I got offered a lower contract of 4 mths instead of 12 mths (whoopee), same price and same crappy speed of 12mbps. That's the best they could offer after almost 15yrs with them. So long TPG. lol

    • Yes that's why it exists. I said I was going overseas and they asked me how long and if I could instead transfer it to someone else at this property lol. No thanks! Been getting absolute trashy NBN at night recently with TPG. Been a customer since 2008 myself and no good deal to make me stay.

  • I signed up last Wednesday, was told it would switch over by Friday. Spoke to someone on chat on the Friday and they said it would switch, it didn't. Spoke to someone on chat yesterday and it hadn't even been processed. 'will switch over by tonight' I was told. It's now next day and still shows as 'pending'. Not a great start.

    • Update: spoke to another person a moment ago who told me that it still hadn't been processed(!!!) despite the guy yesterday assuring me it would be active last night. So now I've been 'assured' again that it will be processed today. We will see.

      • I spoke to Mostyn today and they've been hammered with new orders and yesterday they had 2 support staff on rather than 4.
It's not an excuse but something to keep in mind.
I think they're trying their best but should really set expectations accordingly.
Rather than 'it will switch over by tonight' and then being disappointing would you rather them say something like 'Your order could take anywhere from 4 to 72 hours depending on order status and provisioning'?
Just some feedback we can give Jeremy :)

        • +1

Well, it was Jeremy who originally told me on Wednesday when I spoke to him in sales that it would take 'up to 48 hours'. I know they will be hammered so I've been patient up until now but i'm 2 days from starting another monthly billing cycle with my existing supplier which I will be debited for if this isn't switched by then. And, yes, if it's going to take 72 hours i'd rather be told that than have false promises made to me.

        • @gladbear: aaaaannnnd it's still pending. Another call to support beckons.

  • Sitting on 'pending' since Thursday. Might try call tomorrow.

    • I've been pending since Wednesday.

      • same. pending since Wed

        • Pending since Friday!

      • I'll hold off on calling until you've been sorted, then :p

  • We still have broadband and need to upgrade, however according to Whirlpool forums buzztelco speeds are very average. Anyone worried about that?

  • I signed up three days ago, my credit card got charged for the first month no problemo. But I haven't heard anything from Buzz Telco since. Will they pro rata what I've already paid? I've got no log-in, no service. Besides NBN co still needs to come around to our place and switch over our HFC anyway. But apparently they need to be told to do so by a ISP. I'd love to know what's going on.

    • Update: Got a modem in the mail, still no communication about actually setting up the NBN at my house.

      • Re: pro-rata. Your first billing month starts once they have sent you your activation email, confirming you're all set up.

Good luck getting your NBN Co. hardware changes done. There are plenty of horror stories of NBN Co. taking multiple months to get properties fully hooked up after they are declared "NBN Ready". Back when I had a FTTP property done, it took a couple weeks for them to do the last bit of install.

        • Update:
Got NBN guy over, Installed the HFC box no worries. BuzzCo missed telling me that the NBN guy was booked to come over, it was only luck that I was contacting that I found out.

If you're not seeing the 'live chat' option on your desktop try on your phone, it turned out to be the most reliable way of contacting them.

They also sent me the wrong instructions for setting up my supplied modem, so I lost a few days trying to get that going.

All that said though, when I did manage to contact them they were very helpful, and now that I'm up and running I'm pretty stoked with the speeds and price.

  • I've found that their comms are more reactive than proactive.
If you're after an update jump on Livechat and speak with Mostyn/Andrew.
(The majority of their work is manual - but apparently some automation changes with customer order submission is on the way according to Jeremy fingers crossed).

    • I have been in contact with Mostyn, who had been great up until today, when I was awaiting a call from him with an update and when I chased it up he had gone home for the day. Its now day 8 and i'm still not connected.

  • Signed up today…. see how we go
