If I were you, I'd go for the $28 Cashback, the $40 printing service probably has inflated prices

[Removed] if you stopped pushing out hyped up affiliated links (makes yourself look like a douche trying to shove a product in peoples places) and just LEAVE one link at the top, maybe this would get more +ve votes hey?
The fact that theres 100+ comments and only 18 +ve votes means this deal can't be judged like a book by its cover..
And.. people will see your pushy attitude to click your ref link.

Mod: Although the domain info is in a public domain, let's just refer to the OP as Kevin around here.

  • I'm confused.

Is there actually a new plan or are costs just shuffled from the $1 phone plan to the $30 phone plan to make up for the cheaper price?

    • $1 phone line still available, $30 phone line rental only come with the $29.99 Unlimited ADSL2+ Internet plan

  • Hey Kevin - how did tpg fare in the customer satisfaction survey of ISPs?

    • -3

TPG is a privately owned Australian IT company and over the past 18 years. TPGhave grown to become one of the larger Australian owned IT businesses, and the 2nd largest Australian owned ISP. after Tel$tra

      • +3

TPG is NOT the second largest ISP, here is some more dodgy claims. Since iinet bought AAPT they are now the second and then Optus.

        • +1

Optus is singtel so thats not Australian Owned.

AAPT is US owned isnt it?

I'm not sure if TPG is the 2nd biggest or not but the word he used was Australian Owned if that changes anything.

Dont really care what is biggest personally.

    • It is Internet Customer Satisfaction, TPG not bad: http://www.roymorgan.com/news/press-releases/2010/1138/

  • As a simple retailer of TPG products, I'm surprised OP's REP status is being allowed…..he is no more a REP for TPG, than the local milk bar is a REP for Mars Confectionery.

I've been TPG customer for years, and I don't recall any TPG representative/employee offering "Special Gifts"!

  • +1

There is nothing special about this deal. It is just advertising. The "special gift" is not even specified. Dealers get kickbacks from TPG when you sign up using their dealer code. You can get the same deal (unlimited + phone for $59.99) with $25 cashback if you sign up to TPG using the dealer code on http://www.yourbroadband.com.au/discounts.php (I am not associated with them). That is better value than "a special gift" to me.

    • -8

TPG pay us commission and I will pay $28 cash back or $40 coupon for EverywherePrint offset printing services from my own pocket. Make sure the dealer code is set to "never" during signup.

      • +7

you don't seem to learn, people are sick of you keep mentioning your dealer code in every single post. You only lose more customer doing this kind of business.

This is OZ Bargain we are talking about, not some of your BS forums like Chinese student forums that know nothing about referrals. People here are tech savvy, cheap skates (lolz, many of them) hunting for saving every single cents.

So you want to advertise here, be VERY careful and check all the possible offer on the market, and DO NOT (I don't want to use n*ver because I'm sick of it and don't want to promote your referral code) keep repeating your code. Everyone here are smart, they can judge if you have a good deal or not.

      • +2

You are lucky my neg ratings are capped at 5 a day!

    • There's nothing wrong with TPG's plan - it is good value. It is just the way this "deal" is presented.

  • Rang TPG to change to this plan but was told to wait for at least 1 month without internet, is this common with all the internet providers??

    • .

    • Yes, it is a ULL service, so TPG takes control of copper line between your home and the exchange and offers you phone and ADSL2+. Your phone is not a resold Telstra phone service so to speak. Telstra take 10-20 working days to activate the ULL service.

  • +1

So do I still need to connect to telstra from optus in order to connect to tpg? Because if bundled with a home phone well then that's just silly. And a gauntlet I'm not willing to run.

    • Connect to telstra from optus to tpg? WTF I did not understand a world of that.

  • Hey guys,

I'm a little confused here… How do the rebates work? Are these guys just TPG dealers and they give you a $20 rebate or is it from TPG themselves? So we end up putting personal information through random webpages? Are they trusted?

Kevin what rebate are you offering? when you say more the $20 what exactly are you offering and why is it a secret?

You seem to be a very confused dealer "rep"…

    • +1

Yes, they get money + a % of the revenue from TPG for new customers signing up using their dealer code. Some dealers offer to give you some money back once your service is successfully activated.

You sign up using the TPG web site but their is a place for entering a dealer code during signup. The dealer gets a CC'd copy of emails from TPG during the activation process (at least that happened to me).

The "rep" title is EXTREMELY deceptive.

The "deal" is nothing more than revenue raising for a dealer.

      • Yeah, well on one hand the rep status shows the difference between where someone has found a bargain or just promoting their product. On the other hand, it confuses things when we just have an affliated person of the product who is not official. I believe affiliated person (or whatever you want to call it) tags may be on the to-do list.

        • Also, you can get the $29.99 unlimited + $30 phone plan from TPG without ANY dealer involvement (TPG's everyday price). So the deal here is you get a "special gift".

    • -6

TPG pay us commission and I will pay $28 cash back or $40 coupon for offset printing services from my own pocket. Make sure the dealer code is set to "never" during signup.

      Mod: Removed links

      • +4

Yes we get that now, but you're still putting these links, twice.
One is enough at the top. Now you're just spamming.

    • I've only done it through Warcom, but basically you put your name, banking details or address (to send the rebate) to Warcom and then place the order on the ISP's webpage quoting the dealer code. After you are connected Warcom will see your referral show up from the ISP and then send you a cheque or Bank transfer you.

    • -5

Sorry for confusing. I offer $28 cash back or $40 coupon from EverywherePrint.com offset printing services if you use my dealer code: "never" when you signup. The cash back offer is from me not from TPG. TPG will give me commission so I can offer you this.

      • +12

        What was the code again?

        • -2

Put dealer code "never" when you signup. And I will give you $28 cash back/ $40 coupon. Any questions you can pm or email me

  • +1

Yeah all my questions were answered while I was distracted typing it up :D

    • LOL me too! I typed this much and then I got distracted:
"So when are you going to clarify some of the ambiguous elements posted here? Such as:
      - WHAT the special gift is? - Value, item
      - What YOUR position at, or relation with TPG is"

  • +1

With the way the poster is acting this doesn't seem appropriate for ozbargain.

My guess is the free gift was an LED key chain that quickly changed depending on what ozbargainers were saying.

    • yes, at the moment it is begging

  • Why is his website a .com? Why not a .com.au and where is that ABN on the website? I am getting mad seeing "TPG pay us commission…." then affiliate link. Stop this guy from posting, is just so annoying.

    • He's just spamming. I'm reporting his behaviour to TPG, I don't believe his dealer contract allows him to state he is an official representative of TPG (I'm referring to his previous comments not his rep tag). Very unprofessional.

    • -3

ABN is in about us page.

That's why I deleted affiliate link from my command.
I never say I'm TPG representative, I'm TPG dealer.

      • +1

That's not what you said before:

neil 17 hours 40 min ago: Uh, are you a TPG rep?

kevinpentium 17 hours 40 min ago: yes I am :)

  • limited exchanges only

  • This sounds dodgy and lame

  • +3

    OK,
    Let's tidy this up.

    Removed the REP tag
Removed links in comments to OP's website other than the first one in the details. Kev, just answer questions with links to TPG directly.
Changed title to include $28 cash back.

    • Yes, It was done. Sorry I will answer questions with links to TPG directly.

  • Looks like GG for the TPG network lol.

  • +1

I am require Ineternet Service providings of fast rate (download acceleration). Is the TPG accessible for fast usage? I need to know for download speeding purposes.

    • Yo dude, I'm no tpg rep or dealer, but just check this to get an idea.
      http://www.tpg.com.au/maps/

    • I got 16Mb per second in Rockdale, NSW.
You can check the speed in your location here: http://www.tpg.com.au/maps/

      • K mr smart guy, what does Mb mean?

        • +1

There is much confusion on this issue, so i will do my best to help clear this up. First of all, All Internet service provider use Mb for internet speed tests instead of MB. Its the plain truth. Secondly, many people get confused with their download speeds. Your internet provider says your internet connection speed is in Kb/Mb /s (megabits/kilobits per second) When you download something, using IE or Firefox, it says the speed in MB/KB/s (Megabyte/Kilobyte) These things are NOT the SAME. Allow me to explain….

          Byte= 8 bits

          Kilobit (Kb)= 1000bits
          megabit (Mb) = 1000 Kb

          KiloBYTE (KB) = 1000 BYTES
          MegaByte (MB) = 1000 KB

          So 1 KB= 8Kb
          and 1MB= 8Mb

So lets say your service provider says your download speed is 6 Mb/s. To figure out how fast this is in Megabytes/s, all you do is divide by 8. so 6/8= .75, or 750 KB/s. This works in reverse too. Lets say you are downloading a file at 780 KB/s. Multiply this by 8. So 780x 8= 6240Kb/s or 6.240 Mb/s, This works with Kb and KB too.

So 16Mb per second mean 2MB per second. TPG says you can get up to 24Mb per second for ADSL2+ Internet plan, but it will slow down depend on your location. So me it is 16Mb / sec.
So to download a 700MB whole VCD/ CD files. it take 5.83 minutes (350 seconds). Hope this helps!

          • +3

            @kevinpentium: Nice explanation!

          • -6

@kevinpentium: So 16Mb per second mean 2MB per second. Why don't you post 2MB/s max download speed instead of 16Mb per sec?

            "Kilobit (Kb)= 1000bits
            megabit (Mb) = 1000 Kb

            KiloBYTE (KB) = 1000 BYTES
            MegaByte (MB) = 1000 KB"
            1024, not 1000.
Good start with answering questions buddy.
P.S. I was just wasting your time/testing you, I already know what Mbps means =P

            • +1

@cwongtech: Because All Internet Service Provider use Mb, Not MB. If I use MB it maybe more confusing. Anyway the maximum speed for ADSL2+ is 24Mb

            • @cwongtech: cwontech, incorrect

              kilo/mega = 1000, 1000000

              kibi/mebi = 1024, 1048579

windows uses KB = kibi MB = mebi

storage manufacturers eg ipods hdds use: KB = kilo MB = mega

thats why formatted storage space seems much less. its not to do with formatting wasting space, just simple conversion of units from mega to mebi, giga to gibi

              • @kimmik: Kimmik, we're talking about speed here, not quota.
                From the T&C
                http://tpg.com.au/products_services/adsl2plus_pricing.php?/p…
"1Consists of peak (8:30am - 2:30am) and off peak (2:30am - 8:30am) monthly usage quota. Speed will be shaped to 128K/128K for the period in which the monthly usage quota has been exceeded (peak and/or off peak). Downloads and uploads counted.

2Consists of peak (8:30am - 2:30am) and off peak (2:30am - 8:30am) monthly usage quota. Speed will be shaped to 256K/256K for the period in which the monthly usage quota has been exceeded (peak and/or off peak). Downloads and uploads counted.
                "
How do you explain this then?
If speeds were rounded the same way as HDD space is, then you'd have 125K(b) and 250K(b)

                • @cwongtech: Just add 'per second' after unit of space and you have the unit of speed…

Though you make a good point about the binary values in adsl speed, seems more likely adsl is rated in kibi/mebi than kilo mega

          • @kevinpentium: (Removed)

          • +5

            • @machej: Wow that is some bloody brilliant vigilance right there..

              • @illumination: Why thankyou, but really all it takes is a quick Google. I can see right through this guy.

  • +2

@kevinpentium: I have given you -ve for ALL your post that mentioned your dealer code unnecessary and repeating. I think you are the first one who post a good deal and get the most -ve for all your comment.

  • When does this deal end?

    • It only started.
Worst case scenario - this ends, u can get from warcom for $25 cashback or the yourbroadband.com.au link also has $25 cashback, you'll be missing out on $3 cashback, no need to rush decisions

      • +1

Are you affiliated with yourbroadband.com.au? just kidding :)

        • Nah, if I was I wouldn't list warcom on there as well.
I've just finished high school buddy, theres more to life than selling internet.. such as HSC

  • I think Ozbargain should become affiliated dealer of TPG so that way whenever people put up the new TPG plans ozbargain gets a cut as a "thank you" from all it's regulars. Well thats what I think anyways. Then if they were feeling kind every so often they could bulk purchase something with the money and give away there own freebies, or they could just keep it. :D

    • I do too, lol!

    • Well, that's where Moneybackco usually comes in. They don't seem to have any of the ISPs lined up though.

  • Just sign old plan 1 month, only for new customer. that is even worse than dodo, even bad bird dodo will upgrade plan for everyone.

  • Also pay attention to below info:

    Special Note:

TPG Home Phone can only be ordered as a bundle with ADSL2+ by new customers only at this time.
TPG Home Phone does not support Fax, EFTPOS, Back to Base alarms, Foxtel program purchase and analogue modems.
Once an ADSL2+ with TPG Home Phone plan is purchased:
    - Change of plan option is restricted to ADSL2+ with TPG Home Phone bundles only.
    - You cannot cancel either component (ADSL2+ or Home Phone). Cancellation will cease both services.
    - No min call spend is required

  • gah the engrish just made my mind explode….

  • +2

being a ISP dealer is not an easy task. ozbargain is a tough crowd.
warcom was doing $25 cashback while their usual cashback is $20.
I give kevin a +ve and my business as $28 is a good cash back.
12 mths of 10% commission might come to $36 or $72 for kevin, so $28 is a large cash up front.
good luck with the dealer business

  • Has anyone successfuly swapped from an Optus plan to TPG? How long did it take did you need to go through Telstra at all?

    • +1

tpg now support transfer from optus without going back to telstra, dunno bout time frame

      • I'm assuming this is only through Optus dsl and not available for Optus Cable users.
Last time I checked (last month) this was not possible for Optus users at all.

  • I just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading through this thread. Personally, i would not sign up through someone who is extremely desperate for a sale.

  • +1

wow this will make me go over to tpg home phone, im currently a tpg customer paying 75 for unlimited with telstra as landline provider, im prepared to go with the long downtime to cancel my existing connection to go over to tpg home phone, worth the pain for the $ saved each month, wikkid stuff tpg :-)

  • +1

From TPG when I enquired about changing over from my 200GB Naked plan…

"Please be advised that as of this time the ADSL2+ plan with Home Phone is only available for new customers.

TPG is currently finalizing the steps or procedures for existing customers who wants to change to ADSL2+ with Home Phone.

If you want to have the ADSL2+ with Home Phone service, presently the standard procedure for existing customer is, a customer should cancel the existing account first and apply for a new account with a new username and password. Standard fees will apply.

In accordance with our terms and conditions, TPG requires a minimum of 30 days written notice for cancellation. Failure to provide this notice will forfeit any refunds.

Please note, if cancelling within your initial contract period, you may be required to pay out the remaining amount on your contract to the maximum of $350.

Once the account is completely cancelled and the codes on the line has been removed, that is the time that you can apply for the ADSL2+ with Home Phone service. Please note however that we will still conduct further qualification check for the installation to proceed.

Also, if a customer cancels the TPG ADSL2+ service (already having a port on our DSLAM), at this stage, we cannot guarantee that there will still be ports available at their exchange once they are ready to get ADSL2+ with Home Phone.

Note: ADSL2+ with Home Phone is only available in selected TPG ADSL2+ exchanges.

In regards to the installation, once the initial payment for the ADSL2+ with Home Phone is successfully processed, the installation of account will be able to proceed. And for the installation itself it generally takes 10 -20 working days."

    • +1

The biggest positive I see here is this:

TPG is currently finalizing the steps or procedures for existing customers who wants to change to ADSL2+ with Home Phone.

It's about time they came up with this. They've been talking about doing it for existing customers for so long.

  • Yeah looking forward to them sorting it out. Can see how they're not hugely motivated to though, I'm already a customer and they can only lose out by me going onto this plan.

Does kinda suck though - what they're basically saying is 'will be make you go through this huge process, huge downtime, repay all new connections fees and you may not even be able to get connected back on'.

  • -1

Has anyone actually bought this yet?

    To answer all your questions:

I am using $50 adsl2+ 180G with telstra phone line. Can i upgrade to the new plan or i have to sign a new contract with tpg?
*** TPG Bundled Home Phone Service can be offered if customer will relocate their service or if they are just a new sign-up. But for existing client under ADSL2+, they would need to cancel first their existing account. Then, they will have to re-apply for the new TPG Bundled Home Phone Service. Standard cancellation process will apply once customer got canceled (Cancellation fees will apply for those customers who are inside contract + 30 days cancellation notice).

I am using TPG with Telstra phone line, can I switch to TPG phone line without breaking the TPG contract?
*** As mentioned on the above question, for existing client under ADSL2+, they would need to cancel first their existing account first. Then, they will have to re-apply for the new TPG Bundled Home Phone Service. Standard cancellation process will apply once customer got canceled (Cancellation fees will apply for those customers who are inside contract + 30 days cancellation notice).

I am now on Telstra home phone plus TPG $49 ADSL2, Do I need to cancel and disconnect the current phone and ADSL if I want to switch to new TPG plan?
*** As mentioned on the number above questions, for existing client under ADSL2+, they would need to cancel first their existing account first. Then, they will have to re-apply for the new TPG Bundled Home Phone Service. Standard cancellation process will apply once customer got canceled (Cancellation fees will apply for those customers who are inside contract + 30 days cancellation notice). If in case you want to port-in your existing number from telstra to TPG, you don't need to cancel your line with Telstra. Line should remain active in order for us to port-in the number. Once it has successfully ported in, then you may ring Telstra to formally close your phone service with them.
