Sorry to hear about your daughter, mate. I hope she recovers quickly.

      • +4

        Wish you well mate.

Apart from purchasing something, how else can we (ozbargain) help?

      • Sorry to hear that, hope everything works out for you.

  • +3

Upvoted, great deal! $88 is great. My friend is looking for one so recommended to him.

  • +1

    Brought one, good luck :)

    • +18

Where did you bring it to, if you don't mind me asking?

      • +10

You grammer better then me 😎

        • +4

Took it like a pro. Kudos to you.

  • I am in country Victoria, don't you send to my area

"There are no shipping methods available for your cart or destination."

    • +1

Hi, you have probably added too much to your cart. The checkout is being restricted by weight. Try adding less to your cart and see if you can proceed through the checkout. Depending on what you add you may need to checkout twice.
The boxes we ship the PS3 packs and 8bitdo packs are designed to take up the full capacity of a 3kg satchel for example.

      • Thanks, I removed an item and it is now showing postage cost

        • +7

Thank you, sorry about the postage thing. It’s hard to work this out a proper way using Shopify. All items are shipped using Aus Post Express which I don’t think I’ve mentioned anywhere so I hope everyone gets their orders promptly.

Just as a side note, MyPost Business only charge an average of $1 more for express postage. So if you see people only trying to charge you heaps extra for Express then it’s a crazy “handling” fee or easy profit.

        • @Ignignort: Thanks for this info. More importantly, hope your daughter gets better soon.

        • +1

          @timdee: no thank you

  • Damn would probably have bought a pi by itself. I had a 8bitdo snes controller in the mail from the last ebay sale.

Also do they do savestate or pro action replay? I assume that depends on the emulator.

    • +6

Hop on au.element14.com and order one! Ignore their “you must be a business” warning and just place the business name down as your name. No need for an ABN :)

  • Any SNES kits with wireless controllers?

    • There are 8bitdo packs available, these have no config completed and need to be setup from scratch by yourself however.

  • Can I use my genuine ps3 controllers with this?

    • +1

Yes, buy the cheapest “SNES” pack would be the cheapest way.

Connect your Pi to the internet, go to RetroPie Setup > Manage Driver Packages and install “ps3controller” follow the prompts :)

      • I'd love to, but it's sold out :(

        • +2

Bugger sorry :( build one yourself. It’s fun! (Mostly)

  • Kodi installed?

    • Yes, Krypton v17

      • I will barely play games but want a kodi player like a xiaomi box. Would this be good for me?

        • +2

Nah I wouldnt buy just for media. I own a MiBox and an ATV4 also. I prefer the ATV but the MiBox is a really good priced unit

  • Are those $5 PS3 controllers Bluetooth? It says they come with a USB cable, but also says they may need charging, so it's ambiguous.

    • Sorry, yes they are Bluetooth. The cable is for pair and charge

      • Thanks, bought 5. All the best with your family.

  • Thanks OP, purchased ! Question, I want to run RASPLEX & use my Harmony remote. Do I need an additional IR sensor with this ? Dual purpose, games for kids & Plex for me.

    • it works on CEC

      • Forgot about CEC. My TV doesn’t support it so I get sad and try to forget it :(

    • You will need a seperate SD card to install Rasplex on and the IR sensor unless the remote is Bluetooth maybe?
I am selling 16GB and 64GB sd cards at cost price also. They have zero weight so they don’t add to your order weight.

      • Sent you a PM :)

        • Replied thanks :)

  • +8

good luck with your sale OP and best of luck to your daughter

    • Thank you

  • Dang just went to buy a wired SNES pack and sold out as I was putting in my details!

    • +1

Sorry, top page on OzBargain now :(

      • +1

As this is being OzBargained for a cause, no one would feel left out.
Best of luck yo your daughter.

        • +1

          Thanks :)

  • I purchased a 16GB SNES a few months back and highly recommend it.
Obviously not the genuine thing but for me personally a far better buy than a Nintendo classic mini

    • Cheers!

    • how do you go saving progress and resuming - no dramas?

  • Thanks mate, picked one up. All the best.

    • Thank you

  • Bought one not long ago other wise i would of purchased one, all the best OP

    • Thank you

  • Now that the $88 packs are sold out, where would I buy a similarly configured setup from elsewhere?

    • +1

As someone who sold on eBay for a long time and purchased their competitors products. Anywhere but there. Try little bird electronics or something similar :)

      • Thank you.

  • Already have a pi set up with retropie but grabbed a couple of those PS3 controllers thanks op hope everything works out.

    • Thanks very much

  • Rock64 is coming this 31 Jul from 35-45USD, Pi has a competition here, especially the Rock64 supports HDR 4K@60Hz

    • +1

it's only missing one thing. a giant community around it.

there are plenty of single board computers faster and better than the raspberry pi, but without the support behind it, they are pretty much useless unless you do it all yourself

    • Specs mean nothing when the community support leaves you on your own to do most things.

  • Sorry to ask but do these come tested and ready to use/play?

    • It’s ok!

The snes bundles have had their Pi powered on with the SD card to confirm it boots.
The PS3 packs have their Pi and SD card tested plus the controllers are manually paired to confirm they work.
The 8bitdo pack is in its full retail packaging untouched.

  • As someone who sells these kits on gumtree and eBay I can say that it is indeed cost price. Good luck with your daughter.

    • Thanks, best of luck with your sales. My top tip is to watermark your images. I didn't watermark mine at first and they popped up all over the place..

  • I would like to support you, is it possible to have the raspberry pi 3 by itself? Without any extra.

I hope everything goes well with your family.

    • Hi there, sorry they are all packaged up. You can get them still at a good price @ au.element14.com
Ignore the "business only" requirement, they don't enforce it. Just click through and put the business name as your personal name, no ABN needed :)

  • +1

Hi everyone, thanks for your support! It helps a lot!!!

I'm almost sold out, I've updated the original post with what is left, not much..

  • Dammit! i just got home. All sold out. Been checking your site every day but i had to work today ><…
oh well, i'll just play my ps4 then.

  • I wouldn't mind a Bluetooth dongle, not sure I'd do with the other 34

    • You sure? I lowered the price down $20 more to see if there are any takers

    • Agreed I wouldn't mind one or two but I can't justify having 30 just lying around.

  • OP, can I ask where you sourced most of your stock from? Decent shipments from Alibaba to get bulk discounts?

    • +9

      Controllers are from dhgate.com
Power Supplies are from aliexpress (lots of 50)
Element14 for Raspberry Pi, Cases and HDMI cables. Huge discounts if buying in bulk, even had an account manager.
Everything else is from Australian sellers who I've built up relationships with over the years so they would give me a discount.

Surprsingly Alibaba sellers weren't very good, they wouldn't budge on price much unless you ordered HUGE amounts. DHGate is a really good site if you want to buy things in bulk, it's very easy to use and the sellers on there provide some very good prices.

      • Thanks for the tips!

  • This or the SNES mini? /s

  • +5

Good luck, OP. Sorry to hear your daughter isn't well, all the best to you and your family.

  • Damn, missed it!! I just shout out fxxx from my mouth..

  • +2

I don't know to use a raspberry pi/have no idea on all the technical talk here, but just logged in to wish the OP and his daughter all the best with what must be a challenging time. Good luck mate, good things always come to good people and it's easy to see you're one :)

  • Sorry to hear about the closure mate. I'll grab the Bluetooth units will share what I cannot use with some IT friends.
Good luck and hope you can reopen in the future.

  • +4

The OP is the real MVP for today. Good luck with your daughter mate,

  • +1

omg I have been looking for a pi deal for the last month and I was busy when this was posted, only saw it after sold out. FML!
    Best of luck OP. <3

Wouldn't I be better off just purchasing a SNES mini?

    • and playing 20-30 games instead of pretty much every console ever made up to the playstation ? yeh no you wouldn't be.

      • As someone who is new to this … can anyone advise how I would be able to setup a Pi now? Thanks.

        Not that techie ;)

        • Google: Setting up Pi for snes emulation (Insert your own console at snes).

        • +1

go to element14.com.au or rs-components, buy a raspberry pi 3, a case for it, an official power supply for it, a 64gb sandisk SD card from a reputable eBay seller for around 30 bucks, and either a PS3 Dualshock wireless control or an Xbox 360 Wireless For Windows kit (with the included wireless dongle)

then you have a choice between:

RecalBox (easiest for people as its all preconfigured basically)
          Lakka
          RetroPie

With Recalbox and RetroPie you can install Kodi/XBMC to turn it into a full blown HTPC if you want to watch 1080p mkv's it will be fine. If you want to take it even further, you can buy a PS3 PlayTV dual HD digital tv tuner and it will allow you to stream live tv to any device in your house on your network (phones, tablets, other computers, etc…) and record shows too.

If you are into downloading tv shows and movies, you can install something like Sickbeard or Sickrage and it will automatically grab new episodes or movies as soon as they are released from popular torrent sites or Usenet, extract them automatically, rename them and download covers and episode information and place them in whatever folder you want on your network. Basically a fully automated download machine you probably never really need to touch again you just feed it what shows you want and it does the rest.

For game related stuff check out Tech Wiz on YouTube or ETA PRIME they do beginners guides to most things you will want

        • @wingwang: Great info, you should totally write a guide on how to achieve all this! :P

Eventually the SNES mini will be able to be hacked just like the NES mini was and he will be able to fit hundreds of games on there as well as have genuine controllers and a much better looking system that will retain its value.

    • The Snes mini is a great flashback from the past. I do however feel that paying $100+ for an official console that only supports a handful of games isn't fair. I know that in the future the Snes mini may be able to be flashed to support more games, but at this point that is speculation. Why invest $100 into a console where I may or may not be able to play more games in the future, when I can simply get a pi and know that right now I can play most of the games.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for supporting Official developers, I have been supporting Nintendo since the NES, but if the developer will use a marketing ploy, state they added preventative measures to stop people increasing the game library and not support users who simply want to enjoy games they purchased many times over in the past, I turn to my own methods to achieve my nostalgic addiction.

I love Nintendo, but just like any relationship, that love needs to go both ways for it to be a productive one.
Right now the pi Snes console is just as good as the SNES mini or even better, considering you can play much more content. If Nintendo offered a similar device with similar capabilities I would be all over it, but they don't.

It's the same as me asking why you are using OzBargain instead of going retail and purchasing full price?! If you don't have to, why would you. ;)

  • All the best OP

  • Oh man, fantastic deals. Pity I'm late to the party - would have loved the 8bitdo kit

  • +5

Thanks to everyone for their support, purchases and comments.

This morning I have imported all orders so far in to Australia Post and we are now working on packaging everything up. I am sure the post office will love us later. You will all start to receive shipment notifications soon.

    • Great to hear. Any chance of a reply to my PM? XD

      • +1

        Done!

  • Did anyone get the PS3 controllers working? Works via USB on RetroPie (Raspberry Pi3), but it vibrates constantly. Can't figure out how to get it to pair with the thing over Bluetooth. I saw something popup when I connected it that it was a Shanwan controller, and I've installed the Shanwan driver (sixad), but it won't connect over bluetooth.

    • Looks like the shanwan driver is the way to go.
