Waiting for the 10% or 15% promo that Groupon usually have.

    • Doesn't work.

  • +9

Haven't seen a mobile deal cheaper than this

    $1, Unlimited + 3GB

    • -4

As in for more than 1 months without the need for porting

      • +8

Yep, activate new SIM each month, $12 per year, Bargain! Unfortunately never to be repeated :(

        • +5

I'm still using those $1 WW packs! Best deal

        • Hi, advice needed.
I am on a woolworths prepaid sim which uses telstra network. At the end of the month, i plan to start a new telstra SIM and port the number. Will this work or will I need a different network?

        • +1

          @MikeSYD:

Yep, I recently did a Telstra port to Aldi, it was all complete and active within 10 minutes, also when porting, make sure your woolies and Telstra accounts are in the same name.

        • +1

          cheers, appreciate that

      • Doesn't this deal require porting? I was looking at using it but it appears that you need to use a new service number or port in, doesn't say anything about applying it to an existing account. If you know how please let me know.

    • But for 3 months??

    • That was 1 year, 2 months and 17 days ago. Seen any other $1 deals within the past say 6 months?.

      • +3

Now I'm using these ovo sims, so far, so good.

    • +1

Kogan had this for about 6 months.

    • +2

This was the best. They refunded everyone online so it was free.

    • +2

Yep, I am still using those, that was the BEST prepaid SIM deal by far! Kogan $1 SIMs for 14GB wre also great but had short expiry.

  • +2

Will vaya work in an optus locked phone. And negative is that its $10 a gig if you go over your data.

    • +4

Vaya runs on the Optus network..

  • In b4 sold out.

    • Don't forget cashrewards

  • So with this deal can you redeem and then leave it for a while to port the number across?

    • If you can leave without Vaya trying to charge you more than yes. I'd say the chances of that happening are 50/50.

  • Good deal thank OP

  • So if I buy this on September 14 th I have to use it straight away or is there more Grace period between activating it after buying it?

This is a great deal for 3 months of cheap phone service but I don't need one right now.

  • Why do they need my CC details if they don't process any payment from it?

    • +2

So when u go over the 2 gigs they can get the $10 per gig money from u.

      • And the best thing is that you can't even delete it from the account. Plus they took a dollar which i never authorised

    • So they can charge you for the next month (at full price) if you forget to cancel.

    • The above reasons - plus read Whirlpool for a few other 'surprises' they might randomly 'reward' you with.

  • Thanks OP! This year's mobile bill total will be under $100 for four family members using Kogan deals, Amaysim deals, Optus and Vodafone sim card deals, and this deal!

    • +1

The savings can go towards the new iphone that will be released in September.

  • what happens after 3 months?

    • $22 a month I guess.

  • Great deal on paper.

Can you turn off auto-renewal though like with Amaysim and Ovo? Unless anything's changed, Vaya will charge you the whole $22 monthly fee when porting is delayed.

P.S. I think a few hundred of us should report Vaya for deceptive advertising on their homepage. They've been using the same layout for ages where it looks like you get way more than you'll get. With older campaigns it showed the price for the first 3 months and now it shows you double the data (the word "normally" is always used with no indication on how long you'd pay the discounted price). They're getting cocky…

    • isn't Vaya part of Amaysim now? hopefully they share similar culture.

    • Im with Vaya now and they are known to be very sh*t in getting any changes actioned in time.

They are good as long as you don't require a service from their customer team

  • +1

Hey swore off using them years ago but considering the price would be good for a tablet but do they charge a security deposit for this deal?

  • +3

I wouldn't use them again even if they paid me

    • Really? You wouldn't accept being paid for a mobile service? I would :)

      (I know what you mean..)

    • +2

same, they'd just charge what they've paid twice back. they're deceptive and would definitely avoid

      • I've had good customer service from vaya fb page.. It does take them time to respond but they will get back to you.

        Happily on kogan now though

  • Avoid Vaya - Their ebay account was corrupt. When I raised a counterfeit item with Vaya corporate they said that Vaya ebay was 'separate'.

  • last time got $100 voucher from them, but never used it

  • done. - cheers

  • +1

    no vaya … thank you

  • How to order a vaya sim?

    • Anyone please? I can not find a link in Vaya's website.

  • What is their provider? Vodafone?

And can I pay for data add-on? Can't find on website

  • +10

I wouldn't use this even if it was free, somehow you will get charged by "mistake" and chase it up for months

    • +1

I had the same experience (2 years ago), you could not pay me to use them again. With reference to another comment, Amaysim customer service was VERY good.

      • +1

2+ for Amaysim customer service, always solved every problem for me and family/friends.
I've never had a problem with they're customer service, though this is in my experience.

    • +1

Yup, I've read these problems on Ozbargain many many times, though not everyone has had these experiences with Vaya, go figure :/

  • Whats with all the Vaya hate?

    • +3

getting your security deposit back used to involve a TIO complaint and a inaccurate usage reportage systems resulted in a lot of people ending up with huge bills

      • +1

I think thanks to people complaining, my request for security deposit refund was very smooth!

        • Yeah last time I did it was like 3 years ago

        • +1

          @RupertMurduck:
I left vaya around 4 months ago.
Never experienced the horror stories myself luckily.

    • +3

You can probably tell a lot of us have been stung by Vaya. For me my cancellation was processed days after I sent which meant they billed me another month at $45 and then took about 2 months and too much effort to recover that money.

  • Can you redeem it before 31/08 but activate the sim later?

  • +1

After reading the comments are groupon ok with refunds.

    • Was thinking the same, did you get urs refunded?

      • Went to live chat on Groupon and said I wanted a refund they asked for a reason. In terms and conditions it says you have a 7 day cooling off period. He said it can take up to 7 days to refund as long as voucher is not used.

  • +3

I used to be on liveconnected for years until vaya took over, then all the new hidden fees made me leave and swear never to use vaya or anything related to it.

  • this is good.

  • this is a postpaid, not prepaid

  • I have paid for it via groupon. Can I cancel and get my money back?

  • Has anyone bought and use the voucher? Vaya is running a $19 promo on the same Unlimited 2GB plan - so after three months will it be $19 or $22?

  • +1

    Wow Groupon are dodgy,

I asked for a refund and was told this is a no refund deal so 7 day cooling off period doesn't apply.
I kindly pointed them to their terms and conditions 5.1 copy and paste and their tune changed quickly,
then they sneakily tried to credit me even though i asked for a refund, then i had to insist it be credited back to my initial payment.

    Beware.

    • thank you

      • In the past I just did 'I am being posted overseas unexpectedly for work and won't be in Australia' took like 2 weeks though and that was for the Amaysim deal

  • Cheap bait. They got me once too. Found my debit card was still being charged for an unused vaya account when I eventually put funds into my bank account, and the funds quickly dissappeared. Didn't fight it.

  • bought one on 25th august… waiting for sim to come. never came..

today my monthly credit expired with optus and i was obviously hoping to change over.
called Vaya, they said i had not paid - which i did - as i entered the $9 code in.

    now very frustrated. ..

i dont' want to spend days writing emails for $9… giving it up.

    beware

  • Porting my number from Amaysim to VAYA took more than 26 hours and I am still with Amaysim with 0 credit balance.
Good, a cheap $9 deal disconnected me for more than 1 day, whilst porting to amaysim normally takes less than 1 hour.
    They won't catch me again.

  • So was hoping someone could help, I have no idea how I ensure i get this deal? I bought the deal from groupon on the 27th, and being the last day and having paid for the month I was waiting until today to activate. I went into my email and I have an email from Vaya setting me up with an account, however I don't have an email from Groupon with any code, and I've logged in to Groupon and it's telling me I have no deals. Anyone know what could be going on?

Update: So I found my voucher, except it doesn't work, I get a message saying "The voucher is not for this product" or something along those lines, except it doesn't matter which product it is, it doesn't work. Vaya is closed and groupon told me to call Vaya to get it sorted.

    • +1

Exactly!! Same here!! I am getting the same error!!
