    when human body is inducted

I am trying to interpret this. Each possible interpretation is fairly disturbing.

    • +1

I think I say a streaming video of that on a porn site.

      • link please? and hurry cant wait….

        • Do you want to be inducted?

        • @Scab: not right now im in public place but we'll never know….

      • Maybe the person streaming it needs to place one of these in the hallway lol

      • I hadn't even thought of that way. I was thinking more of human bodies being cooked through induction.

  • How much for something like this normally (other brands)?

Apart from having a motion sensor, how is this 'smart'?

    • +1

Apart from having a motion sensor, how is this 'smart'?

Turns off automatically during day time?

      • It only turns on a fairly dark environment.

        • +1

My Aldi sensor bulbs weren't marketed as 'smart' IIRC. 'Smart' implies WiFi connectivity or similar in my mind. YMMV.

thiese are similar from ikea except more for actual illumination than night light.

        Thanks.

  • Can anybody tell me how bright the 3.8lm is in real use?

Is it actually bright enough to light a hallway a decent amount or just as a guidance light along the floor?

    • It is only bright enough to distinguish things.

    • +1

You will be able to see where tables, fridges or other furniture is, but you wont be able to read any text or see pictures on books, magnets attached to the outside of fridges etc. It does the job so you dont bump into things.

  • what kind of battery? can i use my eneloops?>

    • +1

Yes, it takes three AA batteries.

      • cool thx.

  • +2

    Thanks OP, grabbed one.

Don't forget the extra 9% cashback @ CR.

  • i click the link but its aud14

    • You must be new to OzBargain.

    • Is coming up $14 for me too. An actual helpful response would be good.

I can't see what you've posted because of that stupid red arrow?

This one from Bunnings $5.98 with 50 lumens

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/lytworx-battery-operated-motion-…

    • I wish I'd seen that before I bought the Xiaomi unit.

How good is the Bunnings Unit? How long does the battery last?

      • I don't have this model but I bought another LED one from Bunnings years ago and it even comes with magnetic back.

That one runs on 3 AAA and last very long before I need to recharge my eneloop. You know it is only a night light it won't turn on very often.

      • +1

I have that Bunnings unit and it turns on during the day, which wastes quite a bit of battery.

        • I don't have this unit, is that mean this one doesn't turn off during daytime?

Mine years old one won't turn on during daytime or where you put it too dark?

      • -1

No, the Xiaomi is going to be better in the middle of the night. 3.8lm is more than enough. I get by fine with my torch at 0.6lm

  • Can anybody confirm, other then the non magnetic back, slight difference in brightness and it being non rechargeable…there are no other differences between this and the other model?

    • I think everything is different with the other model. Even physically it looks different e.g. this model lights up in a ring shape, the other is more of a round shape with the sensor in the middle.

The other model also has an always on feature.

I think they are completely different model not new/old models

      • people said the new one (with usb recharge) is much brighter and has hook

        • The built in battery version is 6lms and the requires battery version is about 4.

      • Thanks noone/dragonindespair - I like the idea of the always on feature. It shouldn't be a difficult choice given the functionality and price of these but I just wish they would incorporate features of both into one instead of having two similar models….with ever so slightly different features. Yes I know, first world problems!

  • dimmable ?

    • Why you need dimmable with night light?

      • some people afraid of bright light (vampires????)

      • You might want a dimmable one because when you wake up in the middle of the night the light intensity makes a difference to whether you might be able to get back to sleep. As such you want it as low as you can get away with. There's also research that red light has less of a chance of keeping you awake than other colours

    • No, but there is a switch can select 0.7lm or 3.8lm inside.

I have been using this light in our baby room and it works well.

It turns on without blinding the room, (completely dark room).

I paid $14 last time it was on OZB.

happy with purchase, I would like to buy more for sure.

  • I'd prefer one that plugs staight into the mains to avoid having to use batteries. Of course that limits where it can be used.

    • +1

My ultimate one would be mains powered & roof mount that looks like the moon. Also controllable by home automation.

      • Seriously?

        • The 'moon' wouldn't be in bedroom, just bathroom etc. Just like when you are out bush! Home automation would tell it when to turn on and off and not have to rely on light sensors.

        • @leTintin:

So you mean ceiling-mounted not roof-mounted. Now it make (a bit more) sense 😊

        • @tightwad: Ah yes ceiling mounted sorry. A roof mounted one would more benefit the neighbours than me!

      • +1

There are japanese night sky projectors for over $100, if you controlled its mains power via a xiaomi plug you could turn it on and off automatically.

  • It's $10.41 if you pay directly in AUD.

  • Making 3 orders. Hope they don't cancel them.

UPDATE: The code can only be used twice.

This post is actually a dupe btw.

  • +1

    Thanks, just ordered one.

Hoping it'll be better than the IKEA MOLGAN equivalent:
    http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/40263730/?query=M…

I have one of these guys and it's great.. when it has juice. Seems to love chewing through batteries.. I've cycled plenty of eneloops through it but each time I only get a week or two before it starts dimming. Sure it's in a dark entry hallway so gets plenty of use, but I'd still expect a month or so before running down. Looking forward to the Xiaomi.

    • How do those ladda batteries (shown in the idea link pix) compare to eneloops ?

      • They compare very favourably, especially on price. Search here on Ozb, plenty of advice, also:
        https://www.provideocoalition.com/ikea-batteries-eneloops-di…

Personally, I switched from buying eneloops to LADDA 2450's for price/performance, and I find they're great.

But regardless, the IKEA MOLGAN chews through batteries. Might be a design problem causing leaking current or I may have a bad copy. Might seek my $9.99 back from IKEA..

  • Bought one to trial as an additional light source inside the pantry. Backup plan is to put in corridor to the bathroom for easy night access (if doesn't have enough light for the pantry).

  • +2

I have 4 of these throughout the house.

They look fantastic, typical Xiaomi class/style. The Bunnings ones 'look/feel' cheap by comparison. (i did compare them myself)

Each comes with 3 AA batteries, 2 brightness settings, wall mount/hangable attachment.

As mentioned above, they only come on at night.

I would definitely buy again if needed.

At least it's not that stupid pen

    • You need this to find that stupid pen at night when you wake up and having urge to write.

  • error. Won't accept the code anymore. probably because the listing price is actually even cheaper at US$5.91 now! :) Thanks OP, bought 2,
