Title is in AU$ to simplify, exact currencies and approximate AU amounts below:

Neil passed on this Deallabs in France link with new booking.com deals. I've gone through them all and grabbed the best ones & edited the link to display in English. New offers similar to previous expired deals.

Spend £120 (~AU $199) & get £40 (~AU$66) EXPIRED

Spend US$80 (~AU$100) & get US$40 (~AU$50) New Link (10/10)

Spend US$50 (~AU$63) & get US$25 (~AU$31.25) EXPIRED

If you are spending over £120 (~AU $180) then use the main link. For anything less there are the 2nd and 3rd links below. I've tested them all to checkout and didn't see any issues.

Process

(1) Click the link, ensure you see this banner at the bottom of the screen.
(2) Find the hotel you want to book and add it to your cart.
(3) In Step 2 'Enter your details' you'll see a greenbox to confirm the cashback amount applies OR it will tell you how much more you need to spend. Successful or Need to spend more. So you'll know if you haven't met the spend and don't need to worry too much about working it out.
(4) Make your booking once you see the cashback has applied above.
(5) You might get some prompt to do this or you may already have a credit card on file (however you may need to select it to receive the cashback). If you haven't been prompted then go to settings > credit card > add a card > enter your credit card details > click 'Use this card for my cash rewards'. The cashback will then be paid to card after you complete your stay. When I did it some time ago it said that VISA only was guaranteed but I've seen people have used Mastercard as well. I'm not sure about AmEx I used to VISA to play it safe.

Confirming (further) the cashback after booking: Login to your account and click 'bookings' > 'View your bookings'. Scroll down slightly and you should see a banner like this.

Before your stay: A day or two before you will receive emails about your cashback most likely, eg "We hope you have an awesome trip! After your stay, you'll get an email about your US$40 reward from Booking.com. The reward is paid to your preferred credit card and sent shortly after that."

After your stay: If you don't add a credit card as per step 5 (which I didn't when I used it), you'll get something like this after your booking: "Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed your trip! Now that you've stayed, it's time to cash in on the reward we promised. Note: We can put your rewards money faster on Visa cards due to recent changes in Mastercard regulations. Although not all Mastercard credit/debit cards are affected, at this time we cannot guarantee that your rewards money will be paid on Mastercard."

Further terms: Thanks to Peck. Good idea to leave a review (I didn't myself but never hurts to play it safe). Also 1 cashback per campaign and max 3 campaigns per account per year.

Keep in mind: This deal is great for short stays/smaller spends, you can get up to 33% or 50% of your accommodation spend back. However for longer/larger booking you may be better off with a % back or similar deal elsewhere. OzBargain Hotels page.

  • Are there specific dates you have to stay, or is it for all bookings made in during this time?

I made a booking yesterday for next month, might cancel and rebook however now!

Can't see a promotion end date either however, do these deals usually stay for more than a week at a time?

    Cheers!

    • +2

I'm not aware of any booking period, I imagine you can book anytime in the future. I booked a couple weeks ago with a now expired promo for December this year if it helps.

Looking at past deals they lasted a few weeks on average. The Spend US$80 (~AU$100) & get US$40 (~AU$50) was only posted on dealabs 2 days ago, however the 1st and 3rd one are about a month old.

      • Cheers @hamza23, always a legend :)

  • +17

Well done OP. Posting a deal is not easy, and you have gone way above and beyond the call of duty with the amount of detail.
I would recommend leaving a review of your hotel on Booking.com.

    A couple of important T & C's
    "and/or
The Participant leaves or has left a (completed) guest review through the Booking.com website; and/or"

"Booking.com will only recognize one Eligible Reservation per Participant per campaign to count for an Incentive Bonus. Participants may only receive Incentive Bonuses from a maximum of 3 different campaigns per year, including Refer-a-Friend campaigns."

  • Hmmm i was getting very excited for a upcoming booking. And then i saw the facr that ive received 3 x referal bonus already :(:(:(:(

    • Just make another account.

      • I ve been using the same account for thr past few years. Would i get the same "genius" discoubt

In my research. Agoda. Booking hotels rtc are all pretty much same price but booking.com once you log in has 10% off

Has anyone else had the same?

        • No, but these deals are better than % off anyway a lot of the time. Work out what is cheaper and go with that.

    • I have a Supp. Amex card in my son's name. And now, suddenly, he has a booking.com account too hehe! Thank you son for booking hotels for me!

  • Ah, still cheaper with cheaptickets and a 16% off voucher for me.

    • Booking.com pricematches; also on OP's campaign

Hamza, you have explained it so well. Hope life gives you so much cash/Cashback

  • Thanks OP, just cancelled a booking and rebooked and got the banner saying "Remember, you get AUD 66.18 after your stay!". However, the price of my booking went up by $10 so hopefully I do get the cashback!

    • I didn't see the banner from my booking. But I can see "Get £40 back once your stay has been verified!" from View confirmation. Hope can get the cashback too.

      • Same there, the similar banner is for Cancel for free.

    Thanks OP great write up!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Not sure what exchange rate you're using but from xe.com;

    120 GBP =198.102AUD

      • i'm getting spend £120 to get £40 not euro

        • Argh yeah I think I was working it out on a different promo link or misread the symbols, that should be pounds. I'll fix it up thanks

        • @hamza23: "Only bookings with a value of at least AUD 198.54 are eligible for rewards." is the amount it gives me

regardless, appreciate the effort and perfect timing!

        • +1

          @impoze:

Ok cool, so it's spend ~AU$199 and get ~AU $66.50 back instead of spend ~AU180 and get ~AU$60 back which I had previously. Thank you.

  • good deals

  • sweet, cancelled my booking and booked again with upgraded room type for basically free.

  • Thanks, OP! Booked a hotel for a trip next month. Hope can get the cashback.

  • +1

Can this be used multiple times by the same account? Each day costs me $100 and I need 6 days. Maybe I can do 3 seperate bookings of 2 days each?

    • Yeh wondering this.
      Have 3 * $109 nights
Could do 3 separate bookings and get it almost half price.

      • ah thanks. So would have to book under separate accounts if wanting to do this.
Likely a PITA, probably would be allocated 3 separate rooms for the stay etc.
Bleh, not sure I'm that committed

        • Ah so can only be used once per account. Maybe get your partner/friends to do it aswell?

        • @Swarlee: Before I have done separate bookings and contacted the hotel direct to consolidate the bookings. Separate accounts can book in your name. But Booking.com prices are not very competitive, and so there is a slight gamble in paying more, but hoping for a rebate for a nett discount.

        • @Peck:

Did they honour your cashback though since you made separate bookings under separate accounts with the same name?

        • @Swarlee: I booked a year in advance (overorganised) & so I haven't stayed yet, but I can't see why not. With any hotel search engine you can book a room in anyones name, and rebate is connected to your account, not the name of the booked person. I have done it before with others and no problem.

        • @Peck:

I see, I'm going to try and do 3 separate bookings under one account but use the 3 different codes above. Hope they're considered different campaigns. Will let you know how it goes

        • @Swarlee: Gutsy, but well worth the gamble!

        • @Peck:

Peck did you use the same credit card under your different accounts?

        • @Swarlee: Yes, but I think that you will be fine using the 3 different codes as they should be considered to be 3 different campaigns.

  • Thanks OP! Just made a booking but a very strange thing happened. Received 2 emails from booking.com right away. First email with title 'Have a great trip! Your € 75 reward will be waiting for you…'; Second email with title 'Thanks! Your booking is confirmed at xxxxx'. I know this is probably a mistake but do you guys think that they will/should honour it?

  • Thanks, cancelled my booking with agoda and re-booked :)

  • Booked and received an email but no where mention about the 40 pound reward or discount, I did click the banner on the bottom of the page before I proceeded to book, what did I do wrong ?

    • Did you see the cashback in checkout? Picture

If you login to your account and go to your bookings do you see this banner or similar?

      • No, I saw neither of that, wasn't sure if its because I clicked the "cashreward 4%" banner up the right hand corner first before I clicked the bottom 40 pounds banner and you can claim either of it but not both that's why I didn't get 40 pound cashback. Anyway I re-opened my browser and book again and this time only clicked the bottom banner and bingo, managed to secure the 40 pound cashback in the booking.

        Thanks again hamza.

        • cancel and rebook should see that cashback after stay as in pic above

  • Any way to avoid the 10% VAT that is added to my $280 booking, considering we're not in the UK?

    • +1

It seems it's the same price whether you use GBP link, US link or just go through google without any link. I think the 10% VAT is just 10% GST but they still refer to it as VAT.

  • Jackpot. Room upgrade and saved $70! Legend

  • +4

Im still waiting on my $112 from the last campaign. I followed every step to the dot. Just be warned there is no guarantee of getting the cash back!

  • +3

Yes still waiting 2 weeks after last one have no received any cash back be warned followed all steps correct

  • Well, all looking good so far. Travel not until mid-october but i'm promised my 40 quid.
    Thanks OP.

    • Can you please report back? Mine not till beginning of Nov, if they are not going to honour the cashback will cancel before deadline because I can book at Expedia cheaper for the same hotel.

  • Hi OP, if I book for July 2018, will the cashback be received then?

Is there an end date for when it must be booked?

    • +1

There doesn't appear to be any booking period. If it goes through when you checkout it should be okay, you could check with booking.com but there isn't anything mentioned in terms and doesn't appear to be any time you have to stay by.

  • Does this work for pay at hotel bookings or prepaid only? Thanks

    • +2

I booked one for December and it went through with confirmed cashback once I stay there.

No charge to the credit card, and it says I will pay the hotel directly when I arrive.

  • Thanks, eligible for a hotel I was eyeing off on Hotels Combined the past week. Their best price was through Booking.com anyway :)

  • Does this offer work with the referral program?

    • It will almost certainly not work, as this deal requires you clicking through the unique link for the cashback. If you click through the referral link it will lose the cashback URL, basically you can only get one or the other.

  • I assume this doesn't work for properties that only accept payment on the actual day and don't take payment straight away?

Can't see the discount being applied anywhere at step 2 even though I see the green banner initially when clicking on the link?

    https://ibb.co/n1mab5

    • It's been reported to work regardless if payment is done upfront or on the day, not sure what the issue is with that one sorry.

      • +1

Got it working, just relaunched browser and tried again. Thanks mate! :)

  • If they put US$40 on an Australian Via credit card, do we get charged an international transaction fee?

Or is that only for purchases overseas?

Would I be better off using 28 Degrees Credit Card / BankWest or no point?

    • Yes you'll get charged an international transaction fee if it's in a different currency, best to use 28 degrees or similar.

Remember you can get your cashback paid to a different card that you pay with (settings > credit card > add a card > enter your credit card details > click 'Use this card for my cash rewards'.)

      • 28 degree is master card so please share if we have similar features but VISA (prefer no charge transaction account)

        • I have always been using Citibank visa debit - same function as 28degrees (but debit version) and overseas ATM withdrawal at a very good rates

        • @b0b0: For info. - Replacement Citibank Plus debit cards are now Mastercard.

    • With Suncorp, when I got my USD40 cashback from booking.com, I actually received an "International Transaction Fee Reversal" giving me an extra $1.51 (because they process it as if it were a refund).

  • So if they are not able to pay to a particular Mastercard, can you then add a Visa card can instead down the line?

Or basically you lose the bonus altogether?

    • You can choose another card to receive the cashback to, see comment above:

Remember you can get your cashback paid to a different card that you pay with (settings > credit card > add a card > enter your credit card details > click 'Use this card for my cash rewards'.)

So just add a VISA and click 'use this card for my cash rewards', although I don't know if that Mastercard thing is still applicable as users reported receiving it to Mastercard but probably safer to add a VISA.

      • +1

Received my US$50 cash back today, worked fine to the Mastercard card I provided.

        Thanks :)

  • Hi All. If I book a hotel and pay at the hotel how come will I pay international currency or will be charged any international transaction fee? The hotel will charge in me AUD right?

Also, can i avail all three offers if I am booking 4 rooms for 4 families and spending around 500$ and get the cash back on my visa debit card while everyone pays their own at hotel?

    • +1

Lol I get what you mean. Just open new accounts the Ozbargainer way, and let them pay you cash - will this be easier for you?

      • How will they be able to pay cash? In bank accounts?

  • interesting situation, maybe its just me
I have a booking.com account and im a genius member as ive been using it a few times per year,
however ive already recieved a few referal bonus so im probably not eligible for this

I opened a new account under a different email and realised I dont get the 10% genius discount!

    • Yes I have a few referral bonuses too and T & C's seem to exclude me due to the 3 max per year.

      • got my booking done under a new account,
i also used the $30 referal credit, so it would be good if I got this as well (greedy!!)

I worked out that to become a genius member you need to make 4 bookings

        good luck eveyrone

        • What are the perks of genius?

        • +1

          @itslittfam:

          10% off every hotel!

        • @hellohello123: Is it? Is it 10% off the lowest listed price? Just asking as I could not get that for all hotels. Thanks.

        • +1

@itslittfam: Nothing worth it. I've never booked a hotel using genius discount as the price is NOT the cheapest even after discount. It's basically marketing spiel don't worry about it too much.

    • My son registered a new account, and made one booking for 3 nights (not yet stayed) and a week later the genius prices are showing when he searches for hotels.

  • Is it possible to get cashrewards along with these rebates? Going to booking.com via cashrewards you don't get the banner.

    • +1

It doesn't seem to work because you need to go via the unique URL to get the banner, using Cashrewards will use their affiliate link instead so unlikely it will track if you go to cashrewards and then click the URL here to get the deal.

      • Thanks. That was what I thought.

  • Interesting. I searched for a hotel in Cambridge on Tripadvisor. The prices for all the hotel booking sites comes up at 185 Euros. I click on Booking.com and it opens the Booking.com site which now says 222 Euros! I click on the 40 pounds coupon and the price reverts to roughly the same as the Trip Advisor site. This deal looks really dodgy. :(

    • proof?

  • Thanks OP for an amazing deal! One question, I booked through this deal, but i need to cancel and change it to another date. Do you know if the cashback will still be eligible after cancelling and rebooking?

    • Not 100% sure sorry, however previous comments appear to indicate that you can cancel and then re-book and the cashback should still appear.

  • Anyone successful with using an amex card?

    • I pretty sure that I read in the T & C's "no AMEX"

      • Yes just wondering if anyone got around that. thanks anyway.

  • Hi OP,

I don't know if you know the answer to this. We are four families travelling to Coffs Harbour next week. I have booked for all 4 of them, separate accounts same name different accounts and different emails. Can I use one card for all 4 cash back? Will there be any issue if there is one person for 4 accounts for 4 rooms?

    • I'm curious about this too.
is this the best way to take advantage of this deal? I have a 4 night booking for 2 rooms, with each night >$199, do I create 8 accounts? geez louise

  • Awesome deal! Thanks OP for all the detail and the deal - just booked a hotel and look forward to the savings!

  • Definitely wondering what happens if you have a mastercard and if you get the cashback or not. Seems pretty dodgy that if you use a mastercard they might just 'fail to provide cashback' and … it just vanishes?!

    • +1

Few weeks ago, I was speaking with, and happened to mention this to the booking.com personnel. I read her the passage about this. She was really surprised, as far as she knows, both Visa and Mastercard are fine. She later spoke with someone in the refund team, and that person also knows nothing about any issues with refund to mastercard. Visa and Mastercard are so far the two current modes of refund.

Now I have stayed, and can confirm that my refund has also hit my mastercard account.

Hope this will help allay some concerns about refunds to Mastercard.

    • +2

I can confirm that I have receieved the cash back on my 28 degrees a week after I updated the CC info from the other deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/323851

Also I paid @ the Hotel.

So it's all good. Hope it helps

      • Wondering if you got cashback via cashrewards or pricepal if you went through them in addition to this cashback.

        • Didn't try to use cashback, not sure if the link would work going through cashback.

    • Can confirm I received my $50 cash back today using Mastercard.
