All jokes aside we have a rainwater downpipe that gets blocked every now and again and I would like to get one of these to check it. Does anyone have one that gives reasonable quality pictures and light.

You are better off just going to Bunnings and buying their drain snake and spinning by hand. If you require more force use a drill/driver

    • I have one that looks the same, and it gives acceptable pictures, but not great.

The biggest problem is the illumination - it will only illuminate maybe 5cm in front of the camera. For drain inspections, I recommend you use electrician's tape to attach a cheap flashlight, but only use minimal tape so you can get the camera back if the flashlight snags on something. Maybe have a separate retrieval cord, attached to the flashlight only.

Even with a flashlight attached, you'll only be able to see about 30cm in front of the camera. The camera auto-adjusts to the brightly-lit bit of the pipe near the camera, and more than 30cm away is still too dark to see. Maybe attach the camera to the flashlight's retrieval cord, 30cm back from the flashlight?

  • Still waiting for the one I ozbargained from banggood/gearbest.

Apparently they’re not too bad. Doesn’t handle fast motion very well but if you keep it still the picture is decent.

Here’s a link to the gearbest one - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/335138 it has a video on the product page.

Always wanted to have a little camera on the end of a long wire. The possibilities are endless!

(Will be using it for working on my car)

  • came for the jokes

  • Has anyone used one to locate where soakwells are installed when everything is hidden under paving?

Or something else to do so?

I bought a house with drainage issues and would like to know

Actually if there's an easy way to locate leaks in garden reticulation pipes too, let me know. $800 water bill with no obvious super wet spots on the ground
