Might be better to wait to get this in the 11.11 sales.

    • +2

Sunny ignored me when I asked for a deal 3 days ago so YMMV

      • +1

Guess he doesn't have a sunny disposition after all

  • Is this the lastest/best version ?

    • +2

      Apparently yes!

      • +1

The best version is the new Xiaomi Oclean One. But it is more than twice as expensive. It has a much quicker charge, the battery is much larger and some other nice additions.

For the price though, I have been very happy with my Soocas X3.

        https://www.gearbest.com/tooth-care/pp_1047140.html?wid=21

        • Quicker charge? I have got X3 (2 soocas/oval button and one soocare/round button) and I haven't had to charge them since the first charge almost 2 months ago!!! :)

        • +1

          @GregFiona:

Do you brush your teeth once every 2 days? :-P

        • +2

@oxymoron: LOL, unfortunately I’m not allowed to cheat, trying to teach 4yo son to do the right thing :)

        • @GregFiona: Three and a half hours for the Oclean One, versus 13 hours for the X3.

        • @Daabido: what i mean is that I haven’t even noticed how long it takes for the X3 to charge because the battery lasts forever

  • +3

Very happy with mine, the battery alone makes it miles ahead of anything else in it's price range.

Since no code is necessary, use your GearBest points!

    • +1

Shit could have saved $8 :-(

    • 16 hours charge, 50 minutes usage?

      • +2

Probably around 100 minutes of usage. 2 times x 2 minutes per day.

Charge time is probably because of smaller coils in wireless charger. But its good for the battery longevity

  • How's it compare with the Oral-B brushes?
Also, those heads look like they don't have any moving parts?

    • +3

It's a sonic vibration toothbrush. It just uses vibration like Philips sonicare series. This is how it works - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpJUw6m1O_A

    • Not good as oscillating toothbrushes

      • +2

? it's better than spinning brushes

        • +13

Just did a google search and according to a study on pubmed "An advanced oscillating-rotating power toothbrush produced substantial, statistically superior reductions in plaque and gingivitis via multiple outcome measures compared to a new sonic toothbrush after both four weeks and 12 weeks of tooth brushing." Just saw a post from another forum that finds even more studies that compares sonic vs oscillating. 6 were for oscillating, 1 for sonic, 1 was undecided. Either way, they're both gonna be effective but the edge goes to oscillating.

        • +6

@BlazinPast: wow. i have been misled. thank you

        • @BlazinPast: scientist spotted…

        • +20

@tomkun01: Just did more search on pubmed for peer-reviewed studies from the last 10 years and these were the first 6 results and all 6 were in favour of oscillating, with all of them saying it was significantly better than sonic. There were other studies but they were just longer durations of the same trial. No idea if sonic/oscillating technology has changed much and whether that invalidates some of the older studies. But I think in the general sense, oscillating technology is better than sonic.

EDIT: Did find one study that said one particular sonic toothbrush was better. Added it to the bottom. Seems like this it was the latest sonicare toothbrush head so doesn't necessarily relate to the typical sonic toothbrush head that customers would buy.

Plaque removal efficacy of oscillating-rotating power toothbrushes: review of six comparative clinical trials. (American Journal of Dentistry) 2013

In total, 462 subjects completed the trials and were evaluable. While all toothbrushes provided significant post-brushing versus baseline plaque removal efficacy, the magnitude of the reduction was consistently superior for the O-R brush compared to either the sonic power or manual brush control in all the 'hard-to-clean" region-specific analyses. Adjusted mean RMNPI or TMQHPI benefits favoring the O-R brush relative to the sonic brush control were collectively 18% to 34% greater on lingual surfaces (P < or = 0.044), 32% to 49% greater on lingual approximal surfaces (P < 0.001), and 32% and 31% greater in lingual mandibular and lingual mandibular anterior regions, respectively (P < or = 0.005). Post-brushing whole mouth adjusted mean reduction RMNPI or TMQHPI benefits favoring the O-R brush compared to the manual brush control were collectively 31% to 206% greater on lingual surfaces (P < or = 0.001), 29% to 217% greater on lingual approximal surfaces (P < or = 0.001), and 67% to 526% greater in lingual gingival margin regions, respectively (P < or = 0.001). All study toothbrushes were well-tolerated.

Clinical evaluations of plaque removal efficacy: an advanced rotating-oscillating power toothbrush versus a sonic toothbrush. (Journal of Clinical Dentistry) 2007

Oral-B Triumph with its rotation-oscillation action was significantly more effective in single-use plaque removal than Sonicare Elite 7300 with its side-to-side sonic action when fitted with either a standard or a compact brush head.

A randomized 12-week clinical comparison of an oscillating-rotating toothbrush to a new sonic brush in the reduction of gingivitis and plaque. (Journal of Clinical Dentistry) 2014

The oscillating-rotating toothbrush demonstrated statistically significantly greater reductions in whole mouth plaque at Weeks 6 and 12, as well as significantly greater gingivitis reductions over the long-term (12 weeks), compared to the new sonic toothbrush.

An Eight-Week Clinical Evaluation of an Oscillating-Rotating Power Toothbrush with a Brush Head Utilizing Angled Bristles Compared with a Sonic Toothbrush in the Reduction of Gingivitis and Plaque. (Journal of Clinical Dentistry) 2015

The plaque and gingivitis reductions for the O-R power brush incorporating the angled-bristled brush head were significantly greater than for the sonic power brush.

A randomized 12-week study to compare the gingivitis and plaque reduction benefits of a rotation-oscillation power toothbrush and a sonic power toothbrush. (Journal of Clinical Dentistry) 2009

The rotation-oscillation power toothbrush was significantly more efficacious than the sonic toothbrush in removing plaque, in reducing gingivitis, and lowering the number of bleeding sites after 12 weeks of twice-daily brushing.

A comparative clinical study of the plaque removal efficacy of an oscillating/rotating power toothbrush and an ultrasonic toothbrush. (Journal of Clinical Dentistry) 2008

The results demonstrate superior plaque removal efficacy of the oscillating/rotating Triumph toothbrush versus the Ultreo ultrasonic toothbrush.

EDIT: Supports Sonic: A Comparison of the Effect of Two Power Toothbrushes on the Gingival Health and Plaque Status of Subjects with Moderate Gingivitis. (Journal of Clinical Dentistry) 2017

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean with Premium plaque control brush head (SPC) was statistically superior to the Oral-B 7000 with CrossAction brush head (OCA) in reducing gingival inflammation, gingival bleeding, and supragingival plaque following 14 and 42 days of home use. Both products were safe for use.

        • @BlazinPast:

I had many Braun toothbrushes over a 10 year period until changing to the Phillips diamond clean about 5 years ago. The Philips are so much better. I will never go back to Braun.

        • +1

@BlazinPast: i guess technique is taken into account too? apparently people brush too hard with the non-oscillating ones, which makes them useless. but coming from a cheap oral b to this xiaomi feels good.

        • +1

@BlazinPast: +1 for the long post, too tired to read it all but I agree with everything you have posted :)

        • @BlazinPast:

Damn.. I was super close to buying this toothbrush but now i'm questioning whether I should. I wonder if this would be better than an oscillating toothbrush that is around the same price point.. I don't want to spent $200 on a toothbrush

        • @tomkun01: Yeah, I read that's the case with oscillating too. Some of the higher end Oral-B ones have pressure sensitivity that warn you while brushing if you're pressing too hard. I didn't even know over-brushing was a thing until now.

        • +1

          @BlazinPast:

Brushing too hard is a thing and most people does it. My mom is in her 50's and she has perfect teeth but too sensitive feeling cold things like ice cream etc. Finally went to dentist and he said damage is done and its because she was brushing too hard.

        • @Lunawinter: With the 20% off Good Guys til tomorrow, I would go for the Oral-B 3000 for $80 if you want an oscillating brush. This article was a great read that broke down the important features and the unnecessary features the newer models have. The Oral-B 3000 and newer models all have 40,000 pulsations per second and have pressure sensors to tell you when you are brushing too hard. The rest of the features that the newer models have seem pretty pointless as the article points out. However, if you can't spend that much, this Xiaomi brush should do the job; in the end they will still clean your teeth.

        • +4

          @BlazinPast:

We are taught in dental school that oscillating is the way to go. As a dentist, as long as you brush and brush all surfaces of the tooth - the difference would be negligible.

Since it's waterproof, you can use it in the shower.

How does this compare to Philips Sonicare?

    • Was going to ask exactly the same thing.

    • +3

      cheaper

      • Cheapest BASIC sonicare from a quick search in Australian shops is $69.95.

        https://www.shavershop.com.au/philips/sonicare-elite-plus-el…

This doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the Xiaomi has so it's not a straight/fair comparison. Also not sure if the Philips listed is waterproof.

But it's possible that Phillips quality control/reliability and an Australian warranty may trump the Xiaomi's bluetooth connectivity for some however.

For all I know, Xiaomi may products may have better reliability than Philips. Would be interested to hear of other people's experiences.

Pricewise the Xiaomi costs the same as a couple of official Philips heads. I'm tempted.

        • @tomkun01:

I'm shopping around to replace my Sonicare - which died after about 3 years….

I was hoping it would've lasted a little longer.

  • +1

    Still aint no screwdriver.

  • shame you sound like got a screw loose…

  • Mine broke after one drop, and it won't charge any more.

I have a cheapo Oral-B electric toothbrush dropped it multiple times and still works.

I do like the Xiaomi while it did work, the vibration is very good.

  • This site's obsession with Xiaomi everything is getting out of hand.

If someone posted a deal for a Xiaomi Toothpick it would get upvoted to infinity.

    I weep for the future.

    • +4

Here is Xiaomi floss for you

Do you have a link for the Xiaomi Toothpick?
      Is it a sonic toothpick?

      Would love to get it.

    • +4

Well, Xiaomi makes stuff that's basically an Ozbargainer's dream - cheap, quality and cool products. And, they make almost everything - Shoes, backpacks, scooters, toothbrushes, phones, pens, and let's not forget - the most compelling and quality battery packs.

Basically, everything this site creams over, Xiaomi make… Cheaper. Long-lasting. Nice design. (Spyware optional).

  • +1

thanks op. bought one out of ozb habit.

look at the Philips sonicare only $60 at shaver shop here. isn't it better? and it is normal price?

    • +1

Phillips one is 31,000 RPM vs X3 is 37,200 RPM. According to what I read on internet, RPM matters in a sonic toothbrush. Also Phillips one is not waterproof and only lasts 10 days. Also brush heads seems to be very expensive.

  • Bought one of these a while back when they were cheap (and using GB points), it works better than I expected, the sonic/vibration rather than oscillation does make it feel like it gives a really good clean.
First impressions when opening the packing it came in was a bit of a laugh - black with the gold trim makes it looks like some sort of high-end 'massage device'. >.>
Don't bother with the app, the only useful purpose is to see how charged it is, but it lives on the charging dock anyway.

  • +1

The battery lasts for more than a month. Got this after my expensive philips sonicare died. Will never buy philips again
    This is far better

  • Thanks op, grabbed a second one, very happy with it so far. Highly recommend

  • This sonic electric toothbrush can effectively remove bacterial plaque and reduce gingiva necrosis … toothbrush also gives you the sense of beauty

    Fair enough

  • Price is showing as $84.81, saying flash sale is over. But linked page still shows the discounted price. dodgy.

    • Are you browsing it through their main page? Apparently they have different links for different promotions. If you look closely you will see many products listed more than 2,3 times with different prices.

      • I followed the link above and added to cart. I'll try navigating a different way.

        • +1

          Yeah that did the trick

i went from a manual (ugh, so much effort) to a oral b cheapy to this. I really like this brush and find my teeth to be polished and squeaky clean without any hassles. battery is still on full and i have charged it once.

    great bit of kit!

  • Arrgh… I really didn't want to make another Xiaomi purchase for another week.

Can a rep get a deal on the replacement heads?

  • Did anyone ever work out if the Philips Sonicare heads are compatible with this?

    • It has been answered in previous deals, unfortunatelythey are not compatible.

The gearbest rep was kind enough to give a slightly better deal on the black xiaomi toothbrush:
