Nintendo Switch for $369 at BigW.

Seems an OK deal?

(I pricematched with HN. Added Super Mario Odyssey for $67 and the AMEX $100 off and it's $336 for the "bundle", or $344 delivered to Inner Sydney.)

Use shipster for free delivery, apparently. I missed this, but that's OK.

      Sorry, hijacking the top comment.

For those who have purchased from Harvey Norman on Friday price matching with JB Hi-Fi at $399, you can have the $30 difference refunded as advised by the live chat agent. Simply call (02) 9763 6891 and explain the situation. They will honour it as per the price match guarantee. Doesn't matter if you have previously price matched.

      • Do you know if it will affect the $100 cashback from AMEX if we do that?

        • +1

Good question would like to know too

        • If your total spend is still over the threshold ($400 in this case), then it will be fine (based on past experiences).

Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend $400 or more, in one or more transactions, online or in-store at Harvey Norman by 31/12/2017 to receive one $100 credit.

So this means if your total purchase was less than $430 and you have $30 refunded, then you'll unqualify for the offer BUT all you need to do is spend the difference to make up the $400 to requalify for the offer.

Think of it as up to $30 extra to spend on accessories ;)

        • @ronnknee:
Oh I see, thanks. I only added a $2 item so it will be under plus I got the grey one so I have a feeling they won't price match for me.

        • @ronnknee: getting egift card worth $30…so no need to spend xtra on amex…will use the egift card to get a game…

        • @ronnknee: Thanks for that info mate. What if I purchased the 399 deal directly from JB HI FI? Do you think I could also get the $30 refunded?

        • @Aemit: Same. Persisted alittle in live chat and got a gift card rather than a refund.

        • @Joey221:

Yeah MOST JB Hi-Fi's will refund the difference.

        • @harkoliar: did u get the egift card already? Or been told that they will send u one in a day or two?

        • @Aemit: They said i should get it by Monday.
I'm not too fussed because I want to get the Zelda game which isn't on sale at the moment

        • @hypie: It's out of stock now so I can't get it refunded :'(. However, apparently I have 2 weeks to refund if a better deal for the console is present

      • Good call @Ronnknee they match bricks and mortar stores 7 days before and after you purchase so you can buy from them if it's in an official upcoming sale, before the sale starts and if you find it cheaper up to 7 days after take the info in and they they will refund difference.

I'm not sure about amex offer but maybe you can ask for the money to be put as a credit towards something else, if it affects it.

      • Thanks for this! Will ring and call and get another $30 back! Amazing deal. I picked up Mario Odyssey for $67 from HN at the time of order so will still be over the $400.

      • Will get the difference back n order a game or two to make up…

        • Can you do this?

        • @ChillBro: yep…chatting now

        • @ChillBro: getting the difference $30 as egift card…and will use that to get a game…and no need to spend xtra on the amex card

        • @Aemit: I tried that, was told it can only be given 3-4 working days later by then which the mario odyssey sales may be over.

Why not make another transaction on your amex? The total of all your transactions just has to be higher than $400.

        • @ChillBro: might get cheaper later…and can price match then and use $30 egift card

        • @Aemit: Can you even use giftcards + pricematch through harvey norman online? Or will it force you to use one or the other?

        • @ChillBro: dunno. The gift card is part of the payment…i think

        • I also got a e-gift card for $30. The live chat lady asked if I had used the $100 Amex cashback and suggested I take the e-gift card option.

        • @tarken: u already got the egift card? Or ticket?

        • +1

@Aemit: she said it would be sent tomorrow

      • +1

        Thank you Ronnknee !!

      • +1

Ah crap just realised this is for a neon switch.. I ordered a grey one the other day.. wonder if Harvey Norman will still give the $30?.. haven’t even been picked up yet as I needed to nominate someone else to do it and their security team makes you jump through hoops to organise that.

        • +1

Let me know how you go. I ordered the grey too… clearly the wrong decision now.

        • +1

I successfully did it as soon as I saw this post earlier this morning. The customer service rep didn't verify whether my console was grey or neon.

        • +1

@hypie: I managed to get it just before big w went out of stock. They didn’t question me about the colour of the console. Too late now though if you haven’t already done it. :(

        • @dwhes:

Blah. I tried as well, the guy on chat declined me saying it was a different colour. Then he said they had received information that it was sold out.

      • I can confirm if just did this. They ask if you want$30 gift card or refund. I wasn't sure about the amex rebate thing so i asked for the gift card. I'm sure there'll be a game or something worth picking up at some point.

Edit-you can also use the live chat too to do this. No need for phone)

        • Have people had success using HN live chat to price match a previously purchased switch? I used click and collect and live chat refused to do the price match and said I had to talk to the store, which doesn't open for another hour.

        • +1

          @serrin:

          Yep that's what's i just did. I bought the$399 deal on Friday.

I don't know why they rejected you. Maybe try it again with a different person.

        • @witsa: Thanks, I'll give it another go. Hopefully will get less obstructive chat person.

        • @serrin: I ordered one on Friday, that was supposed to be collected from a store. I just finished with live chat and they did a new price match with this Big W deal without any issues.

I haven't picked mine up yet though. The store I was going to collect from put me on back order because they ran out of stock by the time they came to fill my order.

        • +2

@witsa: Yup, Suzie was unhelpful, and to make things worse I got her again! XD. Anyway queued up again and got someone else, then price matched Big W for a pro controller to make up the difference for Amex promo. Things I do to save a buck.

        • +1

          @serrin: that’s the ozbargain spirit!

        • @serrin: I got suzie and she price matched for me without an issue!

        • @serrin:

Also got Suzie. She tried to push me towards an egiftcard saying something like 'Amex will take the $30 refund as they refunded you $100 already'…That didn't make any sense to me so I pushed on. Got $30 refund for 2 switches, one of which I sold on Gumtree with Mario Odyssey yesterday for $450 (net $10 profit lol). Nice.

        • I just got a gift card from Suzie, which is OK because I'll buy a game or something as the system is a Christmas gift.

  • +1

great deal! would've pulled the trigger but i really want the grey :(

    • +1

can you get a price match from JBHIFI?

      • +4

i'll go in and ask today and let you know

        • Let me know too thanks :p

        • apologies for the late reply. they weren't able to match the grey one only the neon (liverpool JB HIFI). but bertybro has said that homebush dfo jbhifi will match any.

      • Probably a bit late now given that it is sold out, but I price matched at JB Hi-Fi this morning for a grey one. This was at DFO Homebush.

    • Oh woe how I regret opening my grey one when I actually wanted neon :(

    • We brought one i store big W for 369. You just got to stop by!!!!

      • how were you able to buy a grey one for $369? They are advertised as $449

        • Yes Grey in store for $369, this is big w QLD

  • no…….

  • +10

Dude, you’re underselling it. This is an excellent deal. If you pay using Woolworths e-gift cards purchased via Cash Rewards at 5% off, it brings the price down to $350.55.

    • +10

      Not really.

I'm busy pricematching with HN. Add Super Mario Odyssey for 67 and the AMEX $100 off and it's $336 for the "bundle".

      This is the real deal.

      • +1

Which i have now done. But only 20 or 40K AMEX HN 100$ bonusses, and many have possibly already been redeemed. I still have one more left ;)

      • +10

Not everyone has an Amex card, so the HN offer is targeted, and doesn’t apply to everyone. This deal is available to everyone and doesn’t require any price matching.

    • Which one to buy that can use in BigW too? there are so many of them?

      • Just bought WISH eGift Card… is it instant delivery? DAMN I dont want to miss this!

        • +1

An hr or 2, not instant in my case…

        • not instant, ordered 9:30am, still waiting

        • I ordered one around then too. Still waiting. :( I think I might jump and get the switch anyway.

        • @festivalmayhem:

Yea I just received the gift card and it arrives at 11.20 which is 2 hrs later and now sold out online. Farrrkkk

I'm also in store, they don't price match online. Fml

        • My Big W eGift Card didn't come through, so I used the contact form asking to cancel the order, and they cancelled it.

Will think twice to use Woolworths eGift cards for online sales again.

        • I went to put a wish egift card in my cart, it doesn't show 5% off? Am I doing something wrong?

        • @Moofy:

You need a cashrewards account and go from https://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards

The Nintendo Switch on Big W online is out of stock, but it's fine if you have something else to buy.

        • @number5:
Yeah I have that but it says that it should show discount on the ww gift card site?

        • @Moofy:

I think it show up when you checkout.

          e.g

          Big W Divisional eGift Card 1 X $457.90
          Subtotal $457.90
          Discounts $22.90
          Order total $435.00

        • @number5:
Not sure why but is not showing a discount. There is no promo code right?

        • @Moofy:

no promo code, probably something goes wrong with your cashrewards referrer link, maybe turn off all your ads blocker/etc. and try again

        • @number5:
I didn't even think you need cash rewards for it?
"The discount is automatically applied at checkout when you purchase. This is not a cashback offer."

    • Also update your Woolworths rewards number for 3x points, which is worth $5.

  • It is an awesome deal for a < 1yo cosole.

    Is it available now?

  • +3

wow nice deal..why no ps4 pro deals.. they don't even seem to stock it.

    • Great price on Switch but I am also after PS4 Pro deals…

      • +2

        Aren’t they $399 at Costco?

        • +1

Oh.. something that I can ask HN to price match. So, no Costco :(

        • +1

          @wooyugil:

It works out cheaper than the cashback if you’re already a member.

      • +1

Great price on Switch but I am also after Tesla Model S deals…

  • +2

Must resist. It is such a great deal.

  • yeah. really great deal. i got a switch, with 3 controllers, 3 games for $499 couple months ago.

  • Great deal!

  • Would target also reduce their pricing to follow big w?

    • not sure but ebgames always price match.

      • +1

in the past they have said to me they dont price match consoles. ymmv.

        • Some do but only on the console, they never match bundles per policy. Mine match bundles sometimes but they aren't supposed to.

        • +2

          @4892:

Last weekend, I got them to match Big W's Odyssey Switch bundle - got it for $499 - less $100 for Amex. Arranged it over Livechat and paid, then picked it up from a store.

      • Doubtful. I tried to price match jb hif I $399 deal and they wouldn't

      • +1

Yeah EB games refused to price match said they are not price matching during black Friday sale but JB did.

  • In store too?

  • successfully pricematched with Harvey norman to combine with the AMEX deal!

    • How’d you arrange the price match? Online, phone or in store?

      • +1

        Online live chat

      • +1

You can do it through HN live chat.

  • I like how Nintendo is evolving into more mainstream for all ages and maybe even aiming for older crowd as opposed to a kids games console. The DS was definitely aimed at school aged kids. But the switch is aimed at the young at heart (adults).

    • +2

Did you learn that by watching ads?

      • -1

The adverts are what parents decide to buy the games and bundle parts.

The xbox are bundled with assassin creed and grand theft auto. The DS bundled with pokemon. You can be the judge. They may have mortal kombat but I doubt they would be top of list. Just like ps4 may have my little pony.

    • +6

Nintendo has always had games that are suitable to all sorts of ages, for example the DS had 999, and I wouldn't exactly call that a game for school kids. There was also GTA and Mortal Kombat.

The IPs are all still friendly for all ages, it's the third party titles that are more aimed towards a mature audience now, it isn't that Nintendo is evolving, it's that more third parties are seeing the Switch as a viable platform to port their game to due to the popularity it has had so far.

Personally, I hope Nintendo stays more or less the same, because while they often suck on the business side, they make some awesome games! To me, other platforms often feel like you're playing for action and accomplishment, whereas with Nintendo you're playing for fun, and it's a completely different feeling of enjoyment.

  • If you already have a PS4 Pro and the Wii U, is there a reason for having the Switch?

    • +5

      For the games and portability.
