its not best adw 2 is much advanced

    • -4

No, CM Launcher is way better. It has 3D themes, 10,000+ FREE themes & background and much more!

      • I upvoted both of you, I like Nova but I'd like to hear different voices. I don't understand why people quickly jump the gun without giving their side but suppress and eliminate the opposite thoughts.

  • -2

I don't bother with Nova anymore, it just seems bloated and has never (across many devices) rendered icons at the correct DPI imo.

I really like the modded Pixel Launcher:

Or if you like more customisation, Lawn Chair:

      Wow, lots of negs.

I guess people don't like free alternatives, that are arguably better?

      • The main part of Nova is ALREADY free. The Prime version, which adds a few handy extra features, is now down to 99c.

"I guess people don't like free alternatives, that are arguably better?"

That's your opinion, and you're entitled to it. But you're in the minority. The vast majority of Launcher reviews put Nova at the #1 spot.

        • That's your opinion,

          Exactly why I said "imo".

The vast majority of Launcher reviews put Nova at the #1 spot.

May be 12 months ago. I would say Action Launcher is now considered on top, continually beating NOVA in reviews and ripping features from Pixel and AOSP faster.

I have owned NOVA and Action Launcher for years (like yearrrs), but Pixel 2 launcher is so nice, I see no reason to use this bloated junk anymore.

At the end of the day, this might be cheap compared to the standard price, but still not a bargain for an aging dinosaur of a launcher.

"It doesn’t get too much better than Nova Launcher. Like Apex Launcher, Nova has been around since the good old days. It remains not only relevant, but one of the best Android launcher app options available. It has a laundry list of customization features that include gesture support, the ability to customize the look and feel of the app, icon pack support, themes, and much, much more. The app also gets updated at a breakneck pace which means bugs generally get squished quickly and new features are added consistently. It also comes with the ability to backup and restore your home screen layouts for when you eventually switch to a new phone. It's the one we'd recommend you try first"

"Nova Launcher is not only a great home screen replacement, it’s also one of the best Android apps ever made. Nova has been getting regular updates since Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s currently our favorite launcher. What makes Nova so great is the plethora of customization options. At the core, it’s a basic stock launcher, but it can do so much more. All it takes is a little tweaking to get the perfect home screen"

Straight from the mouth of two of the BIGGEST Android reporting websites. I'll say it again, you're definitely in the minority if you genuinely think Nova is a bad Android Launcher.

i waited one year….. only to buy it full price last friday.

    • +6

Funny thing is the last sale was exactly 1 year ago. The year before that it was on the 8/12. So you can assume if there's gonna be a sale it'll be in December each year. There were a few scattered in-between in 2016 though. Seems like December is more of a definite month for sales.

      • +1

mate, last friday was 15 Dec……. and usually they have a sale twice a year. i need to get back 5 bucks from the world somehow. lol

    • +1

Man, that sucks. I almost did the same about 4 weeks ago, but I SUSPECTED they would do a similar deal for Xmas 2017 that they did in previous years for Xmas.

Even so, it's a great app and is still worth it at full price for the extra features and to support the developer.

    • Now that would piss me off. I bought it at full price about 9 months ago. At least I've had 9 months use for my $5 😀

Nova launcher was my go to for many years. But they've slowed down their updates and haven't kept up with Google launchers for a while.

I'm on Action Launcher now which incorporates all the latest Google launcher features like icon shortcuts and Google bar at the bottom

I was sad to move on, but glad I did.

    • +1

I also paid for Action, still nothing compares to ASOP based launchers for speed.

Ive been using Nova for years on my galaxy s6. Never disappointed me once. Also got it on the $0.99 sale, and used credit from google opinion rewards app. Definitely worth it.

  • using nova on my moto g5 plus but has same issues as moto launcher- crashes whenever access google now. Anybody have this phone and have an alternate launcher to recommend?

  • +1

I used to use Nova, but switched to Microsoft Launcher a few weeks ago. Overall I think it's better.

  • +1

I use MIcrosoft Launcher now. Works great as a simplistic launcher for work

  • +2

It really is nice and simple.

  • How much is it normally?

I can't buy it without an android device? But I'm getting one in a couple of weeks.

    • +1

      I think $5 or so?

      • ah ok i guess i can afford that - not very ozbargain like but it won't let me buy it now on my PC.

    • Create a Google account, once you have, go to the App install/download page:

      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?hl=en&id=com.tesl…

There should be an option to purchase, I don't think you need to have an Android device linked just to purchase?

Alternatively (if the above doesn't work) find a friend/relative/family member who has an Android device, log into your Google device on that and purchase the app? Then unlink your Google account from the device, once you have purchased. That might work?

      • Yep I have a google account - but it wants me to select a device but I have no device to select for it to install to.

It's easier for me to do it later than ask my dad to fiddle around with passwords and stuff… haha. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Download an android emulator for your computer and sign into your google play account via the emulator. It will display as a valid android device for 95% of the apps so you can get the deals first.

I've used BlueStacks and GenyMotion. I recommend BlueStacks more because there is less to install (on a Mac setup) but GenyMotion offers more options on devices to emulate.

+1 for Nova launcher, I got it two years ago with my GO credits.

On an aside, what’s the best launcher for seniors? I have set up Smart launcher pro for my parents, but looking for something even more simpler.

  • +1

Thanks jdt1986, always wanted to try this.

    • No worries!

  • +1

+1 from me, used it from the days of android 2.3.6 with the "nox" icon pack and still use to this day on a note 8, looking back, Android had taken a big leaf out of both with "Material"

  • -1

I use LINE Launcher, it's better than this one imo

  • I reckon Google Now Launcher is better in term of usability

  • +1

What do people use this for that's giving it such glowing reviews?

    • I'm using the free version and I'm happy enough with that. I'm not a "power user" who needs to customise everything on my phone.

    • +1

I like being able to overlap widgets, swipe to open a folder/tap to open first item in folder, invisible folders

  • Nova Launcher is great, and this is an amazing deal for it, but honestly, Microsoft Launcher is just as good if not better and it's free. MS has outdone themselves with their launcher and their constant updates and support for it is top notch.

  • +1

Didn't feel like I need to use another launcher on my note 8. Samsung had done a fantastic job.

    • Wait until it starts to lag.

      • It will take awhile with the 6GB of rams. It feels smoother than my s7 edge on nougat.

  • +3

I was waiting for this. Purchased, thanks!

  • Purchased it… But I was using Evie Launcher for a while - how is this one better?

  • I use samsung Experience, their own. With fingerprint scanner. I find it fastest way to log in. Not sure Nova would be any better.

    • +2

With fingerprint scanner. I find it fastest way to log in

What's that got to do with using a launcher…
