  • question now is to wait for further price drop or pull the trigger… Decisions decisions @@

Ordered mine from Amaysim eBay during the 20% off eBay Sale for $916. Still no update on Shipping …ordered on Boxing Day. Will probably contact them at the end of this week.

  • What's the difference between AU and grey import?

    • +2

Apparently Samsung Pay doesn't work with grey models but have seen posts claiming that the AU firmware update fixes that. More info on models here https://twentynext.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-versions-differ…

    • +2

Grey Import doesn't provide local warranty with Samsung Directly. But you do get local warranty through Amaysim (Not sure of the extent of warranty provided).
Also Samsung Pay doesn't work without Flashing local XSA Firmware. But grey import gives you dual sim 4G/3G functionality.

      • +1

Only downside of using dual SIM is that the SD card slot won't be accessible as the 2nd SIM blocks it, but there is a hack that allows both but will require hacking the sim and SD card

    • Samsung Australia won’t handle any warranty claims. That will be done by amaysim direct.
Most likely they will have a contract with a third party repairer for warranty issues.

  • Oh thanks. Don't use Samsung pay. So either model would be fine for AU

    • Nevertheless, you can still use NAB Pay, CommBank etc with the app and NFC so it's still a plus 👍

    • Android Pay Still Works aswell. But for the $200 - 300 difference between local and grey import, I believe its worth it.

      • Exactly right! Now I'm still unsure if I should buy the amaysim one or wait for price drop…
Just want to get rid of my OnePlus 5 as the value has already dropped after the 5T came out

        • If you don't need a new phone, wait.

      • +2

What $200-300? You could buy it form TGG just few days ago for $1070, only $90 more expensive. If you can claim GST back TGG was even cheaper than this deal.

        Not a good deal imo.

  • I found this claiming to be au tick stock for 888

No, it's $1,129.00 for the local one. You are linking to S8.

    • Edit: I was wrong

Pretty nice phone but nothing revolutionary.
Got a new one for $700 from family friend.

  • damn… so pissed it got the s8+
just couldnt wait for the note anymore

  • Anyone know if this is eligible for the 15,000 QFF offer?

    • +1

Not for this one as it is a grey import. Its only available at limited Australian Retailers like the TGG, JB and HN..etc. Also eligible if purchased directly from Samsung.

  • Could anyone advice me the devices stated "Australian stock" on their website entitle manufacturer warranties?

    Thanks

    • +1

Yes, if it is Australian Stock it will definitely have Local Samsung Warranty. Only their Imported Phones have the "2yr Amaysim Warranty" I think.

I have a 50$ coupon code that can be used to purchase any device from amaysim. Feel free to use :)

      • Don't worry, bigger sale promo coming soon….

        • And how do you know this? And when?

        • @Robbo2234:
Confirmed by an amaysim employee on their sites live chat, he said it'd be 30% off minimum and to stay tuned

  • Hehehe good old sales technique! It will be 50% off at one time too! If it gets to 30% off I might just have to pull the trigger!

  • Anyone had their orders shipped? Gees these guys take ages.
