Have not received mine from last deal. Ticket raised.

    • +1

How long ago was that? I've had stuff come in around 2-3 weeks, but with the Christmas period my last one took a bit longer.

The one thing i can say is I have never failed to receive something, it sometimes just takes ages….

      • +1

        Ordered on the 14-Nov

        • Haven't received mine as well from the same deal. More than 7 weeks now.

@anurag: I bought an IP camera from gearbest using the expediated shipping option and it arrived today, ordered 24th Nov.

Strangely, the tracking says that it left China on the 24th and arrived in Sydney on the 12th December. Today it showed up with the shipping address and postage from New Zealand.

          Wierdest dropshipping ever.

        • @Vladdo: I've found any of their "paid" shipping options really give you no advantages, the tracking is hopeless and they don't arrive any faster than normal.

        • That sucks, definitely ticket case for that, sounds like it has been lost.

Some of my friends have been as much as 5, but definitely not 2 months.

    • I got mine but i had no success getting it to work. Waste of money.

      • +2

This needs a gateway and connected to China server for it to work.

        • Mine the connection is not stable, it often drops.

        • @Bargainer: How far apart are they? Zigbee is low energy so range is limited, as is signal strength. Metal / solid walls like a bathroom wall with tiles / plumbing etc will affect it worse than normal.

Zigbee is capable of meshing to / via other devices, not sure if the Xiaomi stuff does that or not though.

      • Do you have the gateway? What issues are you having? You have to register the gateway as you are in China, other than that its all pretty easy to get configured, if you can explain the issue I might be able to provide some advice.

        • I bought the kits last time. The Zigbee connection to motion sensor, wireless switch, power socket and door sensor often drop off. There are not far away from the gateway, range from 4 to 12m. I thought Zigbee should be capable to handle up to 30 meters. Very disappointed.

Native google home support or GTFO

    • New to this smart home stuff, im guessing from your comment it means Google home is not supported?

      • +2

Not directly, but via a control application like home assistant, yes.

Though for this particular thing i haven't tried it, i believe switches are supported by default.

  • Hi, says to me codes expired

  • thanks. just bought 1

  • Finally, I managed to get one. Thanks

  • Good price for those who need this. Thanks OP
I have never seen a deal on Xiaomi smart wifi for wired light switches.

  • Need a gateway. How much the gateway.?

    • +1

I paid about AU$26 last week.

  • Got one thanks!!

  • Do they works within your local LAN?

    • They should as long as your gateway is up and running, they don't connect directly though. I am having issues when the internet is down.

    • Yes and no. As @pal said they do via the gateway, but the Xiaomi app (Mi Home) works via "the cloud" so it isn't LAN connected and won't update data while your internet connection is down.

Other connections like the one you set up for Home Assistant use the LAN connectivity to the gateway (instructions to enable this are in the HASS setup guide) so they aren't reliant on your net connection, which i much prefer when i'm at home, however there are caveats, namely the power usage polling is not as frequent as i would like.

Not sure if this is a HASS problem, or a LAN connectivity limitation, I suspect the LAN connectivity has a limit on polling frequency.

  • Thanks OP, ordering my third even though I haven't received my first yet.

    Looking at you DD4

  • I love this stuff, can't have enough

  • Thank you

    Code expired ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • not a bad ratio for here really.

OMG, coupon applied when I was in the transaction, didn't notice paypal charged me the full price!

    • I've noticed sometimes when you apply an expired coupon, the price actually goes up.

      • I was so excited, I wouldn't have noticed if I had paid US$100

    • +1

This has happened to me too. When you apply code and it takes you to Paypal where you see correct amount but then when you go back to GearBest to provide shipping address, make sure the price hasn't reverted back to full price and you are only paying what it showed on PayPal. I find that little dodgy. I have already been victim of this once, not again!

      • I think this is exactly what happened!

Next up. I need the Aqara temperature and humidity sensor.

Gearbest should open ozbargain store lol

  • NooooO! Missed it again :(

  • -4

Crap, missed out again because it's illegal to browse ozb while driving. Bloody laws.

  • Today I received 2 in the mail from a previous deal.

I can only plug appliances into the universal socket. The Australian socket appears to have some plastic "stopper" which is preventing me from plugging appliances into it. Anyone else experiencing the same?

    • Needs a plug with earth (three prong plug) to slide the stopper out of the way.

      • Thanks for clarifying. Much appreciated.

2-prong plug in the universal socket is OKAY to use? It works but I'm just thinking of safety.

      • Any idea on how to get two pronged plugs to slide in ?

        • +2

Yes, while it is unplugged (for safety), push a small screwdriver into the earth port to force open the cover, then put in your plug. A bit fiddly but works.

An even better tool is one of the lock-picking tools from a set like these here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162084

        • @team teri: Super dodge, but yep exactly what i did. Damn phone chargers that don't have earth pins.

  • DOH missed again !

  • missed it.

Bought one from the previous deal. When I connected the extension cord to, it doesn't seems to work. Even though it shows connected in MI App and light toggles when switched on/off, it seems to have no effect on the connected extension cord. All the devices connected to extension does switch off. Did anyone face the similar issue?

    • +1

I’ve had this happen, but not from the beginning. Was working ok, then stopped controlling the power (either through app or local button).
To fix, I made sure the firmware was upgraded and power cycled the socket.
      Has been working ok since.

      • Last time when I checked it was on the latest firmware. Will try again. Also what do you mean by "Power Cycled"?

        • +1

turn off at the wall and back on

    • Like you, I can pick up both my gateway and the plug on MiHome but I can't seem to be able to control the plug (ie on/off doesn't seem to do anything). Does it need to be paired as a "child device" to my gateway. Also, I didn't have much luck pairing it either yesterday. Maybe I need to shorten the distance between the two devices.

  • Great product only problem is because they are upside down they may cover/overlap with the switch button

Original Xiaomi Mi Home Smart WiFi Socket - White
Limited to first 100 stock, 1 per account.

I've been waiting for the non-Zigbee version to show up for a while.
Got annoyed waiting so hit up the GB rep and they gave me this code.

    Difference to Zigbee version:
    Pros
    * Cheaper
    * Doesn't require Zigbee hub

    Cons
    * Doesn't monitor energy usage

    • Good way to burn down the house.

      • +1

        *Cheap way

Should post as a seperate deal

      • Curious as to why you say this. Any evidence?

      • +1

I believe it's called controlled burning

    • -1

I suppose this version requires the Xiaomi smart home gateway?

      • +1

        No it doesn't.

        • Thanks for replying. (Why would someone neg my question? Can't understand that.)

But just to clarify (for others as well) - looks like the Zigbee version in this post does require the Xiaomi gateway, while the non-Zigbee version in the other post (previously merged but now un-merged) does not.

          Have I got that right?

Will this Zigbee version work with a non-Xiaomi Zigbee controller?

  • these are two different products.. should this of been merged?

    • Oops - republished the other post.
