The best travel tripod I ever had

By Lemi

"It's extremely lightweight, compact and tall but despite that it's very solid with practically no vibration because I guess it's carbon fibre structure. The ball head is very sturdy and capable of holding the weight suggested in it's manual. I'd highly recommend it to everybody who travels a lot and wants to have a reliable tripod attached to his/her backpack or even shoulder bag all the time."

the best lightweight option

By roninseattle

"I wanted a decent tripod to carry with me as I walk around taking street photography. It had to be 2 pounds (1Kg) or less and less than 12 inches long (30cm) when closed, and have a Arca-swiss style head.

This is a compromise tripod for sure, note the center column is always up (or taken off, but then you can't reverse fold it). For what it is there is no close competitor. It's strong enough to use for time lapse or long exposure as long as you take some precautions again vibration.

I will still carry my RRS tripod for critical work but it will stay in the hotel room most of the day while this little guy will come with me everywhere else."

Amazingly sturdy and portable tripod

By AzianCraze

"I really love this tripod because its very sturdy, decent height, amazingly light and portable, easy to setup, and it comes with a decent ball head. And I use it with my DSLR with a 18-300mm lens and an external flash. Been using it on a regular basis and I'm looking forward to using it when traveling."

* OzBargainer @Fury who bought this exact item from sellingoutsoon.com.au said of the Sirui T-025X: "I've been looking for an awesome travel tripod to take with me on holiday over new years. This is the lightest tripod I've seen, made from Carbon Fibre, and is reported as being very easy to set up / pack up….the Sirui gets fantastic reviews. For me, compactness and well reviewed product wins out over the unknown ebay one, even at greater cost."

Bought one. Will be perfect for my Japan trip coming up! Didn't want to lug the Gitzo

    • Great stuff bargainsniper. You'll love that it'll easily fit into a backpack without having to strap it on the side. Have a great trip :)

  • Trying to decide between this tripod or a carbon fibre monopod.

Are the monopods stable enough to take a family portrait when on holidays? We'll be using a Canon 70D.

    • Good question. What type of lens and the size/weight?

      • Commonly use 35mm Sigma Art Lense which at 665gms is not the lightest.

        • You're right about that! You could go for a bigger tripod with a monopod built in. Because this way you get both. What do you think about getting something premium like this?

Would anyone else be interested in a bulk deal on this, today?

        • @sellingoutsoon: Decided to go with the tripod as it is really light.

Maybe in a couple of months you could tempt me with a good deal on the Sirui P-326S Carbon Fibre Monopod?

  • I have a 7d mark 2 with a tamron 150-600mm any suggestions on a monopod v tripod.

    • +1

Thanks for your question, I think there'll be a lot of good opinions on here, as it's amazing how many good (even pro) photographers are here on OzBargain. What does everyone think?

      • love being called a pro photographer - nowhere near it. Heading off to Africa and hoping to get some amazing photos.

        • +1

Haha :D it's funny though. On one of our Voigtlander deals, a brilliant fellow (can't remember his username) was saying how technical he was, and his wife, who nearly fell asleep when he talked tech, could take as good or better photos, with zero technical knowledge, just a good feel for creativity. I like how opposites attract. So maybe just go with someone else who is your "opposite"? - Does that help?

If you're wanting carbon fibre, waterproof, and both a tripod and a monopod (in one), how many are interested in a bulk deal on this, if we could do it today?

        • About Africa, are you going on a Safari? (not the Mac browser)

        • @sellingoutsoon: yes we are

        • @twilsoncrow: How cool will that be?! if you're in the back of a jeep….monopod. If you're shooting birds (camera not gun) Tripod. If you're shooting birds (gun, not camera) Tripod. If you're unsure, get both, but make sure it's waterproof.

Who else is interested in this?

        • +2

@sellingoutsoon: Actually using a tripod or monopod in the back of a safari vehicle is really not a good idea at all. Handheld or beanbag is the way to go. Roads are generally too rough, and it is cumbersome trying to use a tripod/monpod in the back of cramped vehicle. I have no idea why you would need a waterproof tripod for the back of a safari vehicle ???

And IMO, a small lightweight tripod like this is much too light (especially the lightweight ball head) for a heavy rig like 7D ii + 150-600. I have a Sirui N2204X (which also converts to a monopod, so best of both worlds) and it is nice and stable with my 6D ii + Canon 100-400L ii (which is lighter than the 7D ii + 150-600). I would suggest that a k20x ball head would be the minimum for a heavy rig like that.

I took my Sirui tripod to South Africa in 2016 (including safaris), and seldom used it (and not once on safari). It was useful for taking night shots of Cape Town from the mountain though.

        • @Andy01: Hi Andy, glad you're enjoying the quality that is Sirui, and Selling Out Soon would love to do you a great deal next time you're in the market. Sorry, tripod reference was for out of jeep possibly using this (which is similar to yours) but I could have made that clearer I guess - was probably concentrating too hard on my 'shooting birds' double entendre :) and yes the K-20X or W-2204+K30-X bundle would be a good fit. People don't always notice why waterproof matters until after a few years, but it's nice to be able to go anywhere and do (nearly) anything. Thanks for your detailed comment about your Sirui experience - awesome!

Depends on how and where you are shooting. Most people hand hold at the back of a open top 4wd and they would stop the vehicle anyway. Being open top you can get most angles.

If a self drive some have a bean bag that drapes over the window seal so you can stick the camera lens out over it.

Boat safari was a little harder due to the boat moving.

      • Nice one Jason. Now I want to go on Safari!

Bought from the last deal but haven't found an opportunity to use the tripod yet, just played around with it a bit. Seems like a solid product. Low in weight and a small portable profile, hard to go wrong. Reviews state it's a bit unstable if you extend out the last bit of leg, but that's only an issue for outdoor use in winds etc. and it does have the ability to weigh it down by clipping onto the ring that's included for added stability should you need it. Once I had that negative point catered for, buying was an easy choice.

    • Excellent comment, thanks. Some buyers have told us they use their backpack to weigh it down if in high wind, or an unstable environment. This seems to be a common approach.

      Has anyone here tried that?

      • +1

Hooked a bag at the bottom to weigh it down. Works well

  • Does it have a mobile phone attachment?

    • +1

      MOBILE PHONE ATTACHMENT

Yes, a lot of people are asking about this type of thing, especially with the quality you get from mobile cameras these days. A couple of options: those little extender clamps that you stick your phone in cost about $5 from cheap online sellers, but if you want something really good, and actually Sirui, then this one is superb, with the high level build-quality you'd expect from Sirui.

      • Just take the end off and stick it on your Sirui T-025X from this deal and it holds even the latest, big, heavy phones, no problem even when in their case.
      • PM me for a special DEAL CODE Y to get it cheaper, or DEAL CODE Z for cheaper again if bought with this deal.
      • I'm not sure I would consider 20% a massive discount, but it was sufficient for me to go purchase one :-(.

I tend to agree with @WTF on the irritating nature of the marketing dribble, but the discounted price is good and in over two years of posting deals, not a single negative vote is sufficient reassurance that you are doing something right.

Let's hope my opinion doesn't change next week after the postie visits ;-).

So these are selling out soon, again?

    • Haha, who'd have thought someone would say that? :) On our last deal, they sold out so quickly we felt obligated to offer backorders, but there were still plenty of people who missed out, and that's what this deal is for.

Remember though, it's no just about them selling out, it's why they sell out…the reason they sell out so quickly from Selling Out Soon is the price is rather compelling, to say the least.

      LOWEST PRICE IN WORLD NOW

For 24 hours we're now $238 plus you get:

      • 6 year Aussie warranty, from Sydney so there's no risk
      • Near immediate dispatch, from Sydney
      • And…we're even lower than the dodgy sellers :)

      Thank you

Do you guys ever lean that this sort lame sales pitch just irritates the daylight out of people ??

Just post the deal minus the BS!

  • +2

    Sigh..not this guy again!

Please be aware that this seller frequently exaggerates. Please do your homework and make sure you are getting a genuine deal before you fall for the sales pitch

These tripods are always this price and on sale very month or so. They NEVER sell out as the OP states. Just have a look at the OPs prior posts.

Sorry @WTF if you've been offended, but please allow me to offer a constructive clarification. Rep (not necessarily a guy) frequently is delightfully positive, but exaggerating means when things are not true. As far as I know, everything seems rather factual. In fact, most of it has been verified by OzBargainers. Sellers are always under scrutiny and that's fine. OzBargain is a forum for buyers, so it should be that way. That doesn't mean anyone should be rude so if everybody is allowed to be (the most polite version of) themselves, then this could be fun for everyone.

Selling Out Soon offers good old fashioned high-tech service, all valid orders from the last deal were shipped on time with free, tracked shipping to any Australian address. Even the backordered people from the last deal got sent by Express Post for free, which was more than the deal offered, and despite it being over the Christmas break, I'm pretty sure even the latest backorders went out in 10 business days or less, which is better than anyone expected (even us).

These tripods are not always this price. Nobody else sells it for this price. The item did sell out here and we had zero stock, which is why a lot of people missed out and some commented on it (see the sold out deal). We've only done this price once before. Furthermore, I could show you at least 3 tripods that have sold out permanently. Sold out can mean temporarily (compelling because of price) or permanent (compelling because of inability to ever buy it again). We're not in control of all the things, just some of them. And we use those things to try to (viably) help as many people as we can. In this case it's OzBargain. Plenty of people are ordering, so if what I'm saying is not correct, after all this scrutiny, then maybe you could ask all the buyers why they are buying?

  • +1

It's a good deal, looks like a nice light travel tripod, thanks

  • Rep, please get us a very good deal on just the C-10S head. Thanks!

I bought this tripod from the last deal - still havent used it yet, although that will all change in 2 weeks when I go to Taiwan, London and Iceland!

Hi guys, just my two cents.

Bought last deal, product came as ordered and quick delivery..

C'mon the guy is just trying to make a living and is responsive and genuinely trying to interact with his customers. I got no issues with the seller and his salesmanship….it shows passion!

I bought the carbon fibre tripod and it fits in my backpack easy and is light and stable. Brought it to Iceland, Italy and Croatia and worked well and haven't had issues. It is my first proper tripod and I haven't had any heavy duty tripods and I'm no pro photographer but liked it for its weight and size.

  • Thank you OP. I ordered one last night and was hoping it would be dispatched today as I'm flying overseas on Wednesay and hope to receive it by Tuesday. Any thoughts on the ETA OP?

Yes, everything is on time, all remaining orders expect to ship tomorrow, thank you.
