    As per usual, return dates just before Singapore F1.

    • Always too good to be true :)

    • Funny how that is always the case.

      • Will you be commentating trackside again Rusty? I went to 2015 SGN GP and it felt like Albert Park but in another city at night ahahhaha so confusing.

        • +1

          You bet.

    • I was about to agree with you….but the GP is Sunday September 16. It just falls inside the window - Brisbane to Singa and back - $559 if you went from say Friday 14th to Monday 17th.

      Hrmmmm, was only going to do Melb this year……dammit.

    Beware 4 travellers in Perth as the plane used is too small for 6 hours flights and service is qantas standard

    • +1

      What about 4 travellers in Perth??

      service is qantas standard

      Is that a bad thing? We're not talking about a budget airline here..

      • +5

        I am also confused. What happened to the four travelers in your story?

        • +3

          I think he meant "Beware for travellers", which still isn't correct.

        • +7

          @ronnknee: I think he/she meant phwaor travellers.

        • @OneMoreTune: Hehe! Cool comment!!

        • @ronnknee:

          Thanks, cleared up.

    • +1

      Agree with you and thats why i chose Singapore airlines

    • +1

      Still a qantas plane at the end of the day.

      • +2

        Still better than scoot though?

        • I suppose any flag carrier is better than any budget airline.

        • +2

          I'd take a Scoot 787 in Economy over a QF 737 any day.

      • +2

        There is a big difference in comfort though. QF flies the 737 from Perth with tiny seats in economy. Comparatively in the Eastern states, QF now flow the A333 & the A380, both with the new economy seats which are bigger and a favourite of mine.

    • More Asians? Are you sure?

    • +1

      Aren't Indians Asian too :)

      To buy cars are definitely more expensive than Sydney but food, accommodation, public transport including taxis are so much cheaper

    • -1

      What an awful comment.

      • +4

        No its not. Im asian and dont find it offensive cause it's mostly true. But the smuggler is wrong about expensive. Accommodation is pricey but food is at least half the aussie price. Transport is also cheap. Go to singapore and enjoy the food. Otherwise not much well else to do there.

        • This. Food and transport. Besides in my experience more indians here!

        • +1

          @Xizor: yeah demographically.. Around 10% indians… Thats why singapore food is so good.. The best of chinese malay and indian or mixed together.

        • +2

          Not sure what having more or less Indian or Asian people has to do with anything - but according to the rest of the comment, which was all negative, I didn't read it as a good thing.

          I've spent a lot of time in Singapore and it's almost nothing like what the commenter says.

          Food is amazing and cheap like you say.

          The traffic is a dream compared to Sydney. Happens when you have one of the best metros in the world - takes cars off the road.

          It's not boring at all, that statement gets thrown around all the time and it's just a hangover from last decade.

          Accommodation is definitely cheaper, particularly Airbnb. Exception when the F1 is on.

        • Been myself a few times to and i beg to differ a bit overall accomm value is not great and it can get a bit dull depending on what floats your boat but considering its size singa does well. To each there own and enjoy.

          @b2dz:

          Not sure what having more or less Indian or Asian people has to do with anything

          Too many of them

        • -2

          @smuggler:

          Wow.

        • +1

          @b2dz:

          Is it really that surprising?
          Can't imagine Indians would be happy if a whole boat load of white people tried to settle there. Oh wait..

        • +2

          @smuggler: well.. Generally theres alot of asian people in asia.

        • +1

          It's an Asian country and you're complaining there's too many of them there? Are you a retard?

          Yeah, so why go there? Just go to sydney

        • -1

          @smuggler: Out of curiosity…

          Saying there are "too many Asians in Asia" is extremely illogical as others have pointed out. So what about the number of Asians in Sydney? I think if you said that, it would make a bit more sense (whilst still being controversial)

        • -2

          @illumination:
          He's not saying it to be logical, he's saying it because of his racist attitude towards a particular group.

          No logic in racism.

        • @b2dz: Yep I can definitely feel that. But that's why it's fun asking these clowns these sorts of questions to see what kind of funny response they can come up with to justify whatever it is that they're saying/thinking.

    • +3

      Lots of cheap places to stay, eat and drink. Just have to put in the effort to explore beyond Orchard Rd.

  • Isn't hawker center foods and Uber along with public transport is cheaper there? I'm going outside Changi airport for the first time next month. Having stop over Singapore many times.

    • +1

      Very cheap food, and take the train where you can.

      • +1

        Don't even need the train.. Could taxi… City is small and taxi is cheap. Just watch out for tourist traps.

        • Care to share some tourist traps please?

        • +1

          @ChickenAdobo: i got caught by asking the taxi driver a resturant recommendation lol… Do your own research haha

        • @hippyhippy:

          Hahaha thanks.

        • +1

          @hippyhippy: never take taxi or ask taxi driver for anything . Take Uber or Grab , as they are more friendly than those taxi “uncles/aunties” who are bored to dead talking to you guys every single hours and days.

    • +1

      Hawker foods def cheaper and yum! Chicken rice from local hawker about $4 Aussie or less. Don't use Uber. Grab is Singapore's version of uber and is cheaper and lots of discount codes and vouchers. Shopping can also be cheaper than Oz. Depends what you are looking for. For example I got a fuzzy logic rice cooker 3 cup for $149 singapore. Equivalent one here runs over $300 aussie pesos. Cooks rice to perfection even if you put a bit too much or too little water in the cooker. Same with some shoe styles and clothes - can't get them here but you can in Singapore. Singapore is also more relaxed with quarantine. I can buy apples from France, oranges from California, wagyu beef from Japan etc etc. The only thing that I can't get used to is the humidity.

  • +4

    Most expensive from Darwin even though it's the closest.

    • Darwinomics.

    • probably via sydney hehe

  • +1

    Is there much to do there? Was hoping to go somewhere for 2 weeks. Looking at things to do there and I'm not sure if I can use up to 2 weeks there. What do you guys reckon?

    • +5

      2 weeks would be too long there, but you’re only an hour or three flight from pretty much anywhere in SE Asia, flights outta there are cheap too

      • +2

        4 Nights was just about right for our trip when we went to Singapore.

    • +3

      You could spend 3-4 days there, and hop over to Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Penang to spend the rest of your 2 weeks.

      • +4

        +1. Malaysia is awesome, nice cheap food too

        • +2

          Penang's my hang out spot every year to escape the winter. Love it so much

    • +1

      just came back and spent 6 nights there. with 2 kids (3 & 1yr old) that was probably just enough to do the top 10 things there
      went to maldives for 8 nights after, that was way too much

    • +1

      Singapore doesn't have much going for it besides the food… So a couple of days are enough… Back in the day shopping used to be a thing there… But these days there's nothing that you couldn't buy the that you could buy here.

      If u got 2 weeks… U could literally fly anywhere around asia from there and cheaply too id imagine cause its a major airport hub.

    • Last time we stopped in Singapore on the way to Vietnam. So much to see and do there.

  • Would have loved this when they were doing double status credits.

  • Last time we went to their Adidas outlet stores, price almost same as Australia here, but there're some styles you couldn't find here, for food wise, they are super cheap and yummy. If you can book earlier like flying cheap with Scoot, still find it cheaper than going domestic trips!
