    • Full Link. New Link Await for the page to load.

      • thanks. doesnt work on my work comp but does on my phone

      • +1

        Not working for me

        • Looks like it's not loading with the Click ID, Fixed Link. Try this

        • +1

          not working

        • +3

@neil: This link works for me. Had to pause my Adblock for it to work for some reason

        • +1

          @neil: Still not working.
After trying Optus chat they say if I want this deal I must only go through the link. Very frustrating!

edit from Optus chat: "However, we don't have such link right now, which I can help you right now. So, I will suggest you to please if you will get that link, so that you can place the order by yourself."

OK, the only way I can get this to work is if I go through the OzBargain link on my phone. That was painful!

        • @neil:

Working on Android Chrome, but not Firefox. I think built in ad blocker borking it.

Not working on desktop IE or Chrome, but I think work proxy is interfering.

        • Works when you turn adblock off lol.

    • I can see it, I have tried 2 different browsers. as well as incognito mode

      • +1

working for me. It came up as $40 first then switches to $30. Make sure you scroll down the page.

    • +2

Works fine here, but I noticed it would only show if I disabled uBlock Origin (Chrome). I can't click the "View SIM only plans" button though, how would I get this deal? Through live chat only?

  • Will ABC iview be part of the free streaming? Not counted towards the 15GB ?

    • +1

yep…iView, Kids iView, ABC Me, 7 Olympics, 7 Comm Games, 7 Tennis, Netflix & Stan

      • +1

Says streaming at SD - does that mean HD gets counted to your usage?

        • +1

Yes, you have to disable the free streaming to get HD though

  • Showing as $40 for me everywhere.

  • +2

Unmetered streaming (which tends to use >2/3 of total data usage)…
    Hellooo evening congestion!

    • +1

It is in SD, no one uses it, i have had this plan for a while and never used it to stream netflix.

      • Ewwww

  • Hi. Please be gentle. If I buy a Chromecast I can watch shows from this plan without incurring charges?

    • Have a read over the fair go policy and t's&c's for tethering.

    • +6

You cant chromecast from 3G/4G.. your phone will need to be on the same wifi network.

      • Well, it's not impossible. Just means you use your phone as a WiFi hotspot and another device to stream/cast.

        • It's not permitted in the T&C's.

        • @mattyman:

          Which part is not permitted?

        • @ronnknee: they can detect tethered connections and may charge you for the data consumed

    • +1

While tethering isn't permitted there's no reason why you couldn't buy a HDMI cable for your phone and plug it into your TV.

      • so tethering to my Wifi only tablet doesn't count?
have to stream directly on the device?

  • +1

problem with Optus is peak time means no internet whatsoever

    • your chromecast should be using the wifi that the chromecast will be connected too, so it will effect the quota that the network it is connected to and not your optus mobile.

      • +5

        what

    • Yep, also expect black 4G spots, the one that I always experience is around Burnley Station

      • -3

        Vodafone doesn't have any blackspots

        • You kidding me?! No data connection available on train around Southern Cross and North Melb stations. I have checked with an ex VF employee too - definitely it's a network issue.

        • @ar993: In sydney. Should have clarified.

  • can i port my existing TPG nbr over with this?

    • Yes, just have you account number handy when you signup because they will need it to port the number over

      • I just ported my TPG mobile subscription and they only asked for the operator and phone number, no questions about account number…

  • Does anyone know if I port from Virgin to this will my number be unusable for some time?

    • +1

Typically, transfer takes between 15 minutes to 4 hours. YMMV.

  • geez, i am on live chat with optus at the moment in an attempt to recontract on this and they arent even acknowledging the deal exists….

    • same here

      • theyve finally admitted they won't recontract anyone on this plan. i dont want to port out and in as i dont want to lose my data share sims. oh well!

        • I know how you feel, I have those data share sims too and they are gold!

        • @JTTheMan: What are these magical data share sims you speak of?

        • @Smol Cat:
You could pay an extra $5 per month and share your data with another device (e.g. Tablet, wifi hotspot).

        • It was a one off payment of $5. I'm surprised they havent dropped service for them.

        • +1

@Smol Cat There was a plan Optus had a couple of years ago that included extra data sims to share with your plan.
Each sim cost a one-off $5 fee and you could purchase up to 10 sims to share on your plan.

I purchased 4 sims (I should have bought 10) before Optus stopped offering the deal but they continue to honour the sims I already have.

It's effectively free mobile internet if you have a decent data quota. I have three of the sims in Huawei 4G modems and one of the sims in my iPad Air

        • @JTTheMan: Oh boy that does sound bloody amazing. Does it apply still whenever you update your plan to new higher data caps??

        • +1

@Smol Cat: Yes, as long as I keep my number I effectively keep that plan, even though that contract passed over a year ago the actual "plan" agreement holds.

I have taken advantage of it to the max at the moment, I purchased the iPhone X 256gb with 200gb data for $149/month

so now I share 200gb with the 3 x 4G modems and the iPad

        • @JTTheMan: Love it. How much is your iPhone X repayments a month over 24 months?

I just bought one myself, but outright.

        • @Smol Cat: $149/mth 24 mths
I was going to get it outright but went for this plan instead because of the huge data and because I had those sims

Optus should realise I only stay with them because of those sims and they should really bring back that offer. Optus are you listening?

        • I was on the $40pm for 10GB and recontracted to $30pm with 15GB. I was prepared to loose my data share sim.
However, my data share sim was unaffected and continues to work. I think it might not be directly linked to the account. No guarantees though!!

        • @howbazaar: how did you convince optus to let you recontract on to the $30 plan? im about to pull the trigger and recontract onto the $36 20gb student plan (i still have an active student email).

        • @xyron: Via online chat; transfer out to prepaid for a day. Then sign up.

Even more surprising that my data sim carried on despite doing that.

    • I tried out selecting 'I am with optus' and 'Buy a new plan' in order to recontract and select 'keep existing number' . It goes all the way through to place order (even when i am logged in to my optus account)

I am just wondering if they'll process this?

    • …for us recontracting, I guess I am wondering if we 'buy a new plan' and cancel the existing out of contract plan

  • Perfect. Just as my 6 months of Amaysim renewals comes to an end.

  • Or for $60 you can get the S8 and 20gb of data and unmetered netflix over 24 months.

    • Is that including the phone repayments $60 ?

    • I cant see the mention of netflix for this or is every new order getting netflix atm

    • I keep seeing this damn comment. Is this some meme? Someone fill me in!

  • Great way to saturate the Optus mobile network by promoting Netflix. Lets hope the boffins have capacity in order.

    • SD streaming only. You are looking at a 480p Netflix streaming

      • +3

        1.5Mbps bitrate wouldn't be 480p, it'd be 360p. Netflix uses 3.0Mbps bitrates to deliver 480-576p.

  • still $9 more expensive per month compared to kogan 16 GB when it's on discount

    • +5

Yeah but this is on a different network with free streaming. Vodafone is no good for lots of people.

      • -5

I'm suprised at the amount of regional users on ozbargain

        • +2

I'm not regional and Vodafone is terrible in my area… The people I know who are with Vodafone talk about black spots all over town that I don't seem to get. But each to their own I guess.

        • @Tuhan:

I live south of sydney CBD. The voda reception is rubbish when you are on the train. 2 back spots over a 20 minute ride….

        • @Tuhan: oh i barely use my phone to call

        • @shadow131:

I'm hinterland of the Gold Coast and my Dad was with Vodafone and his reception was Terrible too…

        • @Oz8argain:

I presume having a lack of reception may also cause a lack in internet connection/speed?

        • +1

@Tuhan: I agree, I'm currently on the Kogan 16GB deal and my contract ends in 4 months but I'm thinking about just giving it up early as the coverage is really terrible. Sick of having no service with my friends on optus get at least 1-2 bars of 4G.

        • @Smol Cat: that sounds really bad, what area is this? I have no issues when Melb CBD and melb east side

        • +1

          @Smol Cat:

Yeah that seems to be the consensus for most ppl on Voda… I'm personally with Telstra and have an awesome deal that every time I go to see if they can do better, they can't.. So happy to stick with my current deal atm.. But this Optus deal is good value for what's going at the moment.

        • @Tuhan: I want to get onto telstra but its such a rip. Please share your offer

        • @Oz8argain: Sorry I should clarify that this is whenever we drive about 1-2 hours out of Sydney.

        • +2

          @havok44:

I'm currently (and have been on for the last 2yrs) Sim only plan: $10/mth - $1000 calls (unlimited texts) - 21GB data

It isn't an actual plan but have managed to get them to drop the price for me of a plan they had 2yrs ago and add a bunch of data. Every 6mths I try to see if they can do a better deal for me and have yet to get one…

        • @Tuhan: wow beast! no one can beat that let alone Telstra. Well done!
with that much data you can just call people on whatsapp.

        • +3

@Tuhan: show a bill or it didn't happen.

        • +6

          @w3b3d1g1:

          Just for you ;)

You'll notice a few different credits on my latest bill (credit that telstra owed me) so I've highlighted the parts that i get each month. Original plan is $50 - $20 credit and next page $20 credit = $10/mth :D

At this stage I can't seem to find anything better than that.

        • +3

@Tuhan: At this stage!?! You are basically are a God. Would go down as one of the best deals in Ozbargain history. Kudos.

        • +5

          @w3b3d1g1:

Haha - I know of only one person who is on a better deal than this ;) It's a long story but I kid you not, Telstra PAY HIM $5/mth for his plan… That's right. PAY HIM!! It is a bundled deal with other things, but his actual Mobile plan has been given that much credit per month that he gets paid $5.. No lie!

        • For the last 2 years, I've been on a plan that included an iPhone 7 for $8 a month. Included unlimited calls & texts plus 5GB of data - didn't often use all of that either.

That plan ends today & can't get anything anywhere near it :/

Oh well, I guess I did alright paying $192 and ending up with the mobile.

        • @whodidthat:

Niceee!! Although mine is for life. So as long as I don't change my plan, I stay on $10/mth with my inclusions. Having 21GB (and have done for over 2yrs now) is the big winner for me.

        • @Tuhan: You're so lucky!

        • @whodidthat: how did that happen haha

        • +2

@Quachii: The previous 2 years, I was on friends & family (this one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/133972).

When that came up for renewal, I got onto live chat. They put me on a staff connect plan. I wasn't going to complain!

        • +1

@whodidthat: not as great as above, but I pay 29$ per month for S8 on 20gigs data. This is with telstra.

        • @danger163: How did you manage that? They wanted to charge me $79!

        • @whodidthat: I have got it for 59$ during XMas. Did some talks and got 30$ in credits.

        • @danger163: Lucky bugga!

        • @danger163:

If that included getting the S8 phone then that it is a great deal!!
