  • Merged from [eBay Plus] Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 Lens - SONY E-Mount + SD Card $596.77 Delivered @ DCXpert eBay
    Go to Deal
    Coupon Code: PMAR17

Cheaper than last deal, and you also get a bonus SD Card.

Was looking for a new lens for my recently bought a6400, so picked this one up.

*Sorry just realised PMAR17 is only for ebay plus members (i forgot i was an ebay plus member). PMAR15 for non members makes the price down to 611.15. Not as cheap as previous deal, but still a decent price for this lens.

Not a bad price for a decent zoom lens. Having said that, the 16-50mm kit lens is underrated, and is possibly the widest and smallest kit lens on the market. It also performs quite well at the wide end.

      • Also, I imagine this doesn't have optical stabilization like the kit lens does which is useful for a6400. The 2 lenses I use most with my a6400 would be the kit 16-50mm and the sigma 16mm f/1.4.

        • Helpful thoughts there - I got the a6400 but without the kit lens, but now I'm looking for smaller lenses to make it all more portable so may look at getting a cheap kit 16-50mm. Just got the Sonly 16mm f/2.8 which is wonderfully tiny! Considering the 35mm f/1.8 too.

        • It doesnt have oss. But i mainly shoot during the day, so with the higher shutter speed (above 100), no oss is a non issue, and i do have pretty stable hands, so even at lower shutter speeds like 1/20, I can get some good shots. One of the main thing i like about this lens is the constant aperture at different focal length. Low light would also benefit from the lower 2.8. Saw some low light comparisons online where the sigma at 50mm iso was 1250, whereas the kit lens would have to bump that iso to 4000 for similar results. Might keep the kit lens for the occasional landscapes.

    • Just in case it isn't obvious to others, this is a APS-C lens.
Full frame equivalent 27-75mm, with (for DoF purposes) f/4.2.

    • -1

      made by sigma male?

    • Need some suggestions. I mainly shoot portrait and street photography. This one or the Tamron 17-70mm? Thanks

    • For those thinking of upgrading from the kit lens. This is a good video that compares them both.

    • is this better than lenovo legion 5 pro (with the same screen size and gpu) ?

      • +2

Looks better and more suitable for office use, but worse performance.

This also has a higher res screen which could be good or bad depending on your use.

        • +1

          Also this is 500g lighter

      • For most gaming the Legion is probably a better bet given the slightly lower panel res and much better brightness and refresh if they are running about the same price / GPU.

      • +4

No it is not better - just different.

I have this computer. The difference is the legion 5 pro has a 110W GPU where this only goes up to 80W or something like that. If they were the same price I would've bought the Legion I think but I chose the dell because at the time it was cheaper, plus I liked that the dell is a bit lighter, maybe better battery life, and looks a bit less "gamer-y".

Mine plays games ok. Does get hot doing it. Otherwise going OK for now.

      • +1

        no.

low TGP for 3060. screen is only 60hz.

2 NVMe slots but second only fits 2230 SSD

thin chassis means cooling isn't efficient enough, despite 3 coolers inside, 2 of them dedicated to GPU

otherwise good screen, slim and relatively light for the size. more like a successor to Inspiron 7590

    • Is there any other promo code or deal on legion 5 pro
16 amd.I want to buy but the promo code Autumnau has expired

    • 11th gen intel, 60w RTX 3060, moderate build quality and portability, seems pretty meh for $2k. It has been this price on the last few Dell 20% off's as well. I'd be tempted if it were closer to $1.5k

      • Agreed. Nothing about this is "crazy specs".

    • 60Hz screen is not ideal.. far from it

    • +3

This is not a gaming laptop, Dell intended this to be the budget alternative to the Dell XPS 15, and it's equipped with a high-res (but 60fps) display for creative professionals who want as much screen real estate to fit their media editing projects.

It's heavier and the build quality is just a notch below than the XPS15 it's intended to supplement

For gamers Alienware M15 R6 for $1,899 is probably what you're after as it has full-throttle RTX 3060 and a 165hz G-sync validated display. Or Legion 5 Pro 16.

    • I think the better deal is the newer model with 12th gen cpu, fhd display and no gpu for $1300.

      • If you don't care about gaming then the newer 12th gen is better.

    • +1

Stay away, I got a lower spec model of the same laptop and have the famous trackpad issues. I suggest you google this problem. Basically I cant use the trackpad after about 3 months of (very light) use.

      • you really think they could of fixed this issue.
how hard is it to make a trackpad that works?

yeah for HDR don't bother with this the brightness is no where near high enough to get a good HDR experience.

For this price, realistically you would want a 4k display.

      • -1

And that 4k display to be a touch Display.

      • +2

To be honest, I have an XPS15 with 4k display and I wish it was FHD. DPI scaling is weird in a bunch of apps and I don't watch enough Netflix on my laptop to get the benefit…

        • +1

Anyone who wants 4K on a 15" display has never seen it in-person before. Microscopic buttons and fonts on a lot of programs, non-4K media just looks terrible and just way, way too over sized for such a physically small screen.

          • @Gnostikos: i stand in the middle and wish it's a 1440p. i'm used to 1080p on a 11inch.

      • for a 15" do you really see a big diff between FHD+ vs a 4K panel? Genuinely curious.
Also I'd assume battery life on the 4K panel would be far worse than a FHD+ panel, unless the 4K models get a massive battery.

      • I've got my 9570 with the awesome 4k docked and shut - I'd happily do without for the right configuration.

As expected, I didn't use the touch display at all except for browser zooming, no biggie.

    • Try the Dell Outlet store. I picked up a decent priced XPS not that long ago. I had never thought of it until someone posted to have a look.

Saved a bunch and still got a great spec device with 2 years warranty.

      Highly recommend.

"Long-lasting and stable pellets to achieve high speed operation while ensuring stablity"
I looked at these a few weeks ago, when they were far cheaper than this price. Reeks of possibly defective items.
Too risky if you value your data - little ability to complain or return.
I see they are out of stock - that's a good thing. edit: they're back in stock.
I bought an SD card a couple of years back through ebay and it had a similar problem - only part of the drive was correctly usable. So was a con.
I managed to swap that card via Sandisk, not through the seller who just fobbed me. Lesson learnt.

    • The most recent negative feedback for the seller says it all, buyer received, tested most cells dead, flashed controller with hacked fw to show all sectors/cells working. Writing to drive when cells full just overrides prev written data in the limited cells that are still functional.
Lol probably only get 15gb total of storage if you're lucky.
Either recovered drives/nand chips from ewaste or they're just drives from poor man's chia plotting that they figured they could scam a few ppl before they're flooded with negative feedback.
      Though 189 have been sold..

Guess beware ppl selling pcs on Facebook/gumtree etc that come with unbranded 2tb ssd' 😥
