iPhone X 256GB $1629 @ Ausluck ($1547 w/ Officeworks Price Match)

210

Hi,

I was just successful in getting the 256GB iPhone X at Officeworks by pricing matching with Ausluck.

Paid with AMEX at no extra charge to get price drop protection and I am going overseas in May so TRS refund eligible too!

But the $1629 original price is not bad! Well done OP

It’s over $900 so would have to pay the TRS refund back when you return to Australia.

    • +1

Have claimed 2 iPhones over $1000 when going overseas never had to pay anything on return

    • +1

If the OP is going with a partner I think the TRS can be split on return to Australia.

        This ^

If going with a partner, give it to your partner when you land back in Australia as you have “gifted” it to her while holidaying overseas. This way, even if they ask you on the way back, you don't have the phone on you.

        • +1

Just out of curiosity, if they ask, where will they ask you? At Border or Baggage claim?

        • Make sure you exit separately to minimise the chance of getting questioned as if the phone is found on her and the imei/serial could be used to match with your claim

        • @demoiree: Went overseas in Jan this year and claimed the phone however they were so busy, we had to put the receipts in an envelope and leave with TRS. Returned start of Feb. Claim wasn't processed until March so no chance of them tracking the imei/serial number.

See point 3. It asks about goods obtained duty free over $900.

  • Awesomeness, exactly what I needed :)

    $1500 phone.
    Bargain!!!

    • Thanks mate! ;)

    • Consumers really have noone to blame but ourselves for this kind of thing. Companies wouldn't price commodity hardware like this if there wasn't enough people willing to pay the asking price.

      • Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

If for some reason your local OW isn't price beating this, then you can get this from their eBay store for $1595.50 with the code PICK5/PAY5LESS.

If you're not in a hurry, then I would honestly recommend waiting for another sitewide eBay sale or even the "normal" 20% off sales, as they're usually lower than this price even with the prices jacked.

E.g Last 20% off sale the price was raised to $1910, therefore with 20% off it came down to $1528. This was from the store think.of.us which also sells AU stock with a GST Tax invoice. The benefit of this is that the invoice will show the original $1910 price, which means you should be able to claim TRS on the higher price even though what you have actually paid is much lower.

With the 10% sitewide sale, this was going for $1639 therefore with 10% off it came down to $1475.10 just yesterday. Out of stock for now, but they always re-list this during sales.

Thanks mate! I needed mine ASAP as my phone broke :) This is best if you can wait for postage for sure!

    • the $1475.10 include GST or not ? Can I got tax refund when I go to oversea?

      • Read the above comment again

  • Why not just make it 2k…

      Why 2k…?

      Y2k!

Got to be pretty brain dead to pay $1600 for a phone. Could get a laptop for that price

  • …Wololo Wombat, any chance for a pic of the receipt, just in case a local store gives us grief? Thanks!

  • Wow, just wow. The battery on these things is weaker than an AFL tackle

    • Wait for the plus version soon to be released of this phone. Apparently going to have bigger screen and battery.

      • And bigger price ;)

  • Is Officeworks still pricematching ausluck? Hoping to buy this week in Melbourne.

  • is office work still price matching ??????? any luck anyone?

    • Price match at OW worked for my wife, and TRS refund came through as well. You can save a little more by following stuhb's advice in order to get a receipt for the fully inflated retail value.

Still pricey for a phone, but if this is the phone you want then paying just over $1400 isn't too bad. We also used the Amex Essential card for the included screen insurance.

    • Yes, they do.

      Thanks OP.
I Walked in to Pitt st, Sydney store to try to get a price beat showing this$1629
The manager said he can beat it, but they didn't had the 256 GB Silver in stock.

Went to Clarence st(They had the last 256 GB silver in stock) and the manager refused to price beat catchdeal website, saying they have 24 month warranty while local stock will only have 12 months.

Luckily I have found this deal (not sure how i missed this post) with same price on Ausluck. Manager checked with the head office and he was happy to beat $1629 by 5%.

Paid with gift cards for additional discount.

Gave the phone to my friend who is travelling overseas tomorrow to claim TRS, hope that goes through fine.
OzB to the rescue always :)

    • Price matched it today with a fight… They will tell you its not an Australian model but just tell them that the manufacturer number is the Australian one. Then they said that the warranty was different, but if it is Australian it should be the same right, cos it is all dealt thru with apple. Finally got the price match after they called Ausluck and confirmed it had apple warranty.

      • May I ask you which store was it ?

        • Northmead NSW :)

        • @Marioedd: Nice
I got my TRS claimed by a friend who went overseas today

All in all, $1290 for IPhone X 256. Can’t complain

        • @spk: sure cant, I'm using it as a business phone and gonna get 10% back so same as you :)

        • @Marioedd:
Hi there, I’m planning on going to this store tomorrow. Bit nervous as I haven’t done this before (only new here). In the site where can you find the manufacturer number and prove it’s Aus. Did you have to speak to the manager? I’m also tossing up between the 64gb as it’s cheaper, I have iPhone 6 with 64gb and used only half. I’m not sure if the photos or vids on the x would eat up more gigs though.

        • @Leafyy: Hey, the manufacturer number was in the name of the product for the 256gb version. Just speak to the manager and say that you called them and they said that it had warranty from apple and if they wanted to make sure tell them to call them themselves

      • I tried price matching today at Bondi Junction and Alexandria, the staff was very adamant to not price matching, I even printed everything and they keep saying nope, and they showed me the door ;___;

        • @spk: Thank you very much!! :) I'll try again today!!

        • @spk: Works like a charm! Thank you for your help! :)

        • @popozbargain: glad to know.

        • @popozbargain: I went to officework Bondi store tonight trying to get one with price match and price bet, the old lady(I believe is manger) reject to provide price bet but can only offer price match with Techrific.com. She was keep saying Techrific are not OZ local stock.I have showed her the invoice SPK provided above and tell her someone have done this few weeks before, but she keep saying, that is not oz stock, unless i can provide a serial no. so she can check. wondering if any of you guys can PS me your serial #, so I can go back and tell her to price match and bet

        • @alanxu120: She's right. Techriffic is not OZ stock.
          https://www.ausluck.com.au/apple-iphone-x-256gb-space-grey-u…

try to get a pricematch with ausluck. $30 more, but still a good deal if they aagree to beat 5%

        • @spk: Thanks SPK, I will give it a try next week.
