$10/Month for 1GB + Unlimited Calls Mobile Plan + Unlimited Data Bank/Sharing @ Belong Mobile

3900

This is a pretty appealing deal for low data users for a few reasons:

  • The data can be gifted to another sim
  • The data banks up infinitely if you don't use it even if you upgrade/downgrade the plan.
  • Cheapest reseller of the Telstra Wholesale network.
  • Capped at 64 kbps if you go over your limit. (Could be useful for IoT devices)
  • Can add international calls to 36 countries for just $5/month.

Note: No roaming allowed on this plan.

If $40 gets you 200gb of data back then yes.

  • +1

    can recharge from woolworth?
    like amaysim buying vochure?

    • You can get a starter pack from a store but typically you recharge via the app.

  • Can I get a belong sim from any shops?

    • Yes, the sim cards are available at Coles, 7 eleven, Jb hi-fi, Australia Post and Officeworks.

      • According to office works website they only do the higher packages.

    • Got mine from A.P today, you need to buy one with either $25 or $40 credit.

      • so, if i buy a $40 one, it can last 4 months? I don't need to bind my credit card, right?

        • Need to bind a working credit card to activate your account.

    • +1

Coles has them on 50% off this week.

Their website: "Belong is a division of Telstra Corporation Limited ABN 33 051 775 556."

I got the FREE belong $40 kit in dec can I activate it on this plan and will I get 4 months free since sim comes with $40 credit? or do I forfeit the data and credits? or is it best to activate for the 15gb plan and then downgrade straight way to the 1gb to get the free calls? btw I'm not associated with Belong. I guess its the dam ozbargain cookies and website the pick ups when someone uses the Telstra network to log in and associates you with it.

    • Same questions here…

    • would Also Like to Know this

    • When activating a $40 kit on the $10 plan you are left with $30 credit to use for subsequent months. Unless you are an extremely light user of data i recommend you activate on the $40 15GB plan to give yourself a head start, that is if you intend to stick with Belong for a while, and i don't see a reason not to since ATM nobody else is offering unlimited calls and roll over data for $10

    • I had that free sim too but I misplaced it and cant find it now :(

    • +1

1month later… did anyone manage to verify this?

    • Pretty sure you lose the credits after the first month if you don't use them but haven't tried this out yet.

  • Does this allow call forwarding?

  • +3

    I contacted them

Thanks for reaching out Belong Mobile Team!

Please be advised that all Belong mobile plans include a Message2Txt service instead of voicemail.

Message2Txt converts compatible voice messages, up to 10 seconds long, to text and sends them straight to your mobile as a text message.

For more queries and concerns, you can always visit our page at www.belong.com.au/mobile

    Have a good day!

    • Has anyone used the msg2text service how good or bad is it?

      • +3

i just know from other people's messages of my messages,
that the messages show up as a "drunk irish man talking"

        • +1

no offence to drunks or Irish or men or talking

        • +1

Or msg2text would translate that to "dark rash monitor"

  • +2

extra $5 per month to call 36 countries is excellent value in itself

    edit: if it is true.

  • Can anyone please enlight me why this offer has a lot of positive votes apart from it is using Telstra network and $5 unlimited international calls ? Thanks

    • +4

For me it's the ability to bank and roll over unused data. $10/month for 1GB, unlimited calls and texts, Telstra network. The only comparison at that price-point is Amaysim (Optus)?

      • -1

So if I don't recharge on the following monrh and still have unused data, I can still use the data indefinitely until it runs out? Meaning $10 is for the life of data? Obviously no call and text can be made on subsequent months without recharge?

        • No because it's postpaid not prepaid. You have to pay a monthly bill in advance.

  • Does anyone know whether belong supports wifi calling?

    • Unfortunately they don't.

  • msg2txt +1 for us - it works surprisingly well, especially with kids' phones.
This deal is brilliant for kids - no excess charges due to shaping.
    Thanks OP.

  • To get the free additional data sharing sim, do you have to buy another sim and sign that one up to min $10/mth plan? Or can you just have a free sim activated without joining any plan just to be able to use shared data?

    • there is no free additional data sharing sim.

  • +1

In case this is helpful for anyone; msg2txt is a deal-breaker for me here, so I sent on online inquiry and there reply was the voicemail was being currently developed and to be announced when available.

  • This is good.
I might have to get this plan.. then gift my almost 200 GB of data on my old pocket wifi SIM to the $10/month SIM.
That should last quite a while even if I use 10 GB/month

  • +2

Not a bad deal if I sign up together with my misses,

    1x $10 1GB Data
    1x $25 5GB Data
    All up $35
Send over 2GB to the small plan each month.

So that would be $17.5 for each of us for 3GB data and unlimited calls/texts. Any better deals out there?

  • Does anyone know how do Belong measure data usage - per kB, MB or what? For the low usage (1GB) plan, the data allowance can go quickly if each email check is counted as a few MB. I can't find any reference to this on the Belong site or the CIS.

    • Yup per kB.

  • If I do choose to add the $5 international calling will Croatia be unlimited or is there a certain amount of minutes.

    Thanks :)

    • +3

Don’t you think, a quick google search is a better way to find out about it, compare to typing a comment here.

      It’s not that hard !!

  • is this a no lock in contract?

  • For this plan, does unlimited "text" = MMS?

    • Cancellation Fees ?

    • -3

It doesn't include any MMS, only calls and texts

      • +4

That's false. According to the CIS it includes unlimited MMS and SMS.

  • Anyone received their Sim yet. I'm in Perth and waiting. Ordered on 2nd May

  • So when do i Drop down to the Lower Offer ?

  • So far thanks to previous free/discount offers I've data banked almost 200 GB.
    This $10/month deal is great!!!
Even if I actually use 10 GB/month this will last me almost two years, for $120/year.

    • +2

how did u bank 200gb for free?

  • My current month just started with my provider but I'm looking to switch to this deal. I don't want to miss out on it, does anyone know how long the deal will be running? I've ordered the sim but not sure if I can select a date to port over or if I just wait till 4 or so days from the end of my current month.

  • i bought a $10 sim from coles. how do i port a telstra number using the $10 credit? the website doesnt say anything about the $10/sim from shops.

  • WOOOOOOOAH!

I literally used the app to port my number from live connect to belong (optus to telstra) and it took about 15-20 mins for the port to go through o_0

I'm impressed! Before it took days…

  • +1

so selected the $40 plan But i Cant Change it till they have billed me at least once ?

seems to be locked in with in being the 12th of may in a Few days and all

    • Mine got activated today. Says 0 credit left and next payment date 12 May. Not sure what to do as it seems it would take $40 payment in 2 days again :/

      • +1

You'll just end up with extra data. There's a couple of payment dates a month and yours will be whichever is the next after activating

      • So it's 12 May. What happened? did they charge you again, did you get any extra data? can you now switch to the 1gb plan?

        • +2

Good news. The data got doubled! And no charges were made. It seems the first couple of days you get free service with the data on the activated plan. (so i got 15gb). Then on the 12th,the official billing cycle started and another 15gb got added.
I was able to downgrade the plan to $10+$5 international call addon. Now it shows I have almost 30gb now and my next payment is due on 13 June of $15 with 1gb to be added.

I've had no issues with the service yet. Call quality including international calls were good. Internet speeds are ok (haven't watched any Netflix yet though). I was able to extend the time before it went to voice to text with **61+6141870711111*25# (25 is the number of seconds before it goes to text.)

          (
Sorry for some reason the sequence I typed above keeps changing itself in the comment. It is supposed to be
          ** then 61* then +61418707111* then 11* then 25#
          )

voice to text is terrible for me as a lot of my callers leave msgs in a foreign language. Have to come up with some number to forward it to instead. Maybe home message bank, will see.

          • @Taita: Hey does that mean you can activate the sim at 10th with $40 plan, downgrade it to $10 plan before 12nd, and you will only be charged $10 but with 16G data?

(nvm, I gocha the $40 credit is removed once you activate it as $40 plan)

        • Sorry for some reason the sequence I typed above keeps changing itself in the comment. It is supposed to be
          ** then 61* then +61418707111* then 11* then 25#

Got $40 card from Coles today at 50% off. Porting from Telstra took 5 minutes. Activated it on the 15gb Large Plan.
Now the Dashboard shows that I have 15gb and remaining credit is 0, and the next billing cycle is in 2days! It also says "You'll receive your next 15GB mobile data allowance on 12 May. Unused data will remain in your data bank."

What am I missing here? Shouldn't the billing cycle have started today and the next payment and data should be on the 10 June?

  • I've just bought a $40 pack for full price at Officeworks and already activated. Anything I can do to take advantage of the 50% at Coles?

    • +1

Buy one, activate it, and gift the data to your main account. Then cancel the service after the data is ported.

    • buy another at coles and get a refund at officeworks.

      • but isn't the serial # tied to the merchant?

        • Check your receipt.

  • It doesn't say anything about whether you are actually blocked from making international calls for sending international SMSes totally or whether you can send these for an additional charge e.g. $0.50 per SMS.
Anybody know which the case is? I don't particularly want to spend 45 minutes waiting for their helpline operator to respond.

    • From Belong support mobile page -

"However, you will not be able to make international calls & text on a Small 1GB or regular 5GB without purchasing the international call and text add-on."

A separate charge would be better, but at $5, the addon pack is reasonably priced. Some providers charge up to $15 a pack, even if you just need to send a single international txt.

  • Barely 5 days on the service. Although no complains with price, call quality, speed etc, this voice to text is driving me crazy!

    • That's the only thing stopping me from getting this deal. Don't know who could put up with voice to text. It really is a deal breaker.

      • That's like saying your would not use an ISP because their email service was bad!

Why do you feel compelled to use the voicemail service provided by your mobile provider?

        • +1

What options do I have for receiving voicemail for a Belong service?

        • +1

@tranter: You could forward the call to another number like a Skype one. A few options exist.

        • +2

I guess there are also voicemail apps.

But manic's comparison doesn't make sense. Who uses ISP email anymore? I bet many use the default voicemail that comes with their mobile service.

I don't want to install another app, sign up for third party voicemail or forward my calls to some other service. I just need simple voicemail with my phone service.

        • +1

          @tranter:
          It doesn't get simpler than voice-to-text :-)

If you have the international calls option, would forwarding to Google Voice do the job?
Skype is a bit expensive. Mynetphone has $5/yr numbers.

Does any carrier do voicemail to email nowadays? Sometimes I really miss Three. They had a lot of cool features like that.

  • Their international pack is the cheapest! Cant believe it’s only $5 to call 36 countries! Will try their service, ordered a sim

  • Ok since this morning, I'm not getting most of my incoming calls on belong, but just get a missed call sms. The callers get a message about person is not available.

    Anyone else experienced this?

    • +2

Sounds more like a Telstra tower issue.

      • +1

The issue was intermittent the whole day today.

  • So who is selling data ?

and anyone else getting Random calls and Texts from other compneys ?

  • +1

I’m getting onboard with this for the data shaping
Quote:Capped at 64 kbps if you go over your limit. (Could be useful for IoT devices)

I have just received my SIM cards and their website says it will charge you once you exceed the allowance?

Has this changed? Or is this an option?

    • CIS clearly states;

What happens if I exceed my data allowance?
You can purchase additional data at any time, if your allowance is low or has run out, in units of 2GB for $10 each. We do not apply data top-ups automatically.
If you have no data remaining, your service will be slowed to a maximum of 64kbps for the rest of that monthly payment cycle, but we won’t charge you any extra. Your data at the slower speed will be unlimited.

Sim is not working, they don't have a customer service number to call… what should I do?

    • +2

There's been intermittent outages on the Telstra wholesale network. Not just Belong but other services as well eg Woolworth, Aldi etc.

  • is the service good? makes me a bit concerned people saying they can't send texts or calls

  • Hey guys, I'm currently using Catch Connect and want to port to Belong. However, when I fill in the details, Catch Connect isn't in the list of current mobile provider. Any way to solve this problem? TIA

    • Either use Optus or other.

  • Can I port my old optus number across with this deal?

  • just used a random referral code - happy birthday to whoever that was

  • Has anyone used it for not for profit purposes - donation collection - Quest Donation Point Tap? It says for predominantly personal use and not commercial/business use.

    https://www.belong.com.au/customer-terms#acceptable-use-poli…

  • Belong on which network? if they on optus then my cousins can't join…BUT most importantly how's with Belong and how is it?

  • I went through all the step in the activation process except the last 'confirm and connect'. It never asks for referral code. Am I missing something?

    • Can't remember exactly where - maybe first or second step, there is a box for a "promotion code" or something like that at the bottom, might need to scroll one each page to see it.
I missed it the first couple of times when trying to use a code from here but finally got it.

      • Got that, 'Promotion Code' right at the bottom of the plan choice page. Thanks.

        • You're welcome.
Thanks for confirming location and page, makes it easier for the next OzBargainer :)

Hi, I am a bit confused ( as normal )

If I get a free sim can I activate it using a referal credit + $5 to get the $25 plan ?

    And if I have 2 referal credits and a new $40 sim pack I get 8 months @ 1gb a month ?

    Thanks

    • +2

If I get a free sim can I activate it using a referal credit + $5 to get the $25 plan ?

You can also put in referral code when you order the free sim, it will then prefill when you activate.
Either way, if referral code is used, you will get +$20 credit on your first bill. They'll start charging your payment method once all your credits have been used.

      And if I have 2 referal credits and a new $40 sim pack I get 8 months @ 1gb a month ?

I'm guessing you mean activating a $40 pack with a referral code, then someone else use your referral code, effectively giving you another $20 referral credit?
Then yes, you will have 8 months on 1gb/month before they start charging you.
