Energizer Max 9V Alkaline Batteries - 2 Pack $6.05 @ Bunnings

440

This is the cheapest I could find for reasonable 9v batteries. Looks like normal price is just under $10.

I price matched this deal at Office Works ($5.75).

I bought some Phillips brand 9v batteries from the Good Guys which didn't last a year in smoke detectors. Energizer seem to represent good value for money if you can get them at a reasonable price. They last well and have good shelf life.

  • I have some memory this isn’t store or nationwide, but I can’t remember which store/state did or didn’t have this cheap price.

  • Catch sometimes have bulk $24 for 12

  • Energiser is not great, you're paying for ad they spent to make you think they're bunnies

    • Duracell? Yeah it is owned by Energizer I know

      • +1

You mean Duraleak - not sure about quality of 9V ones though.

  • Those Philips batteries were trash. I got some myself and while not out of date or anything, none of them have enough voltage across them.

  • +1

    The ALDI batteries are great.

    • How much are the 9v?

      • From memory, $4.99 for 2.

        • Problem with the Aldi 9v is that they are slightly longer than normal. So in some cases they don’t fit well into the battery holder esp smoke alarms. Just something to aware of, I managed to tear off the top of the battery while trying to remove it.

        • @gadget:

They fit in all my things fine.

        • +1

@Scab: doesn’t change the fact that the batteries are longer than other brands

        • @gadget:

Just pulled the ALDI one out of my smoke detector and compared it to a Duracell one and it's the same size.

        • @Scab: I would have to agree with gadget. They are a much tighter fit.

        • @gadget:

Battery sizes are standardized under IEC and ANSI. A 9v battery is 48.5 mm × 26.5 mm × 17.5 mm.

          $4 for 2.

        • @spaceflight: I would normally agree but I have compared them side by side and they are slightly longer. I'd measure them again but i bought energizers from the last woolies sale and haven't needed to buy any more since.

        • @Scab: I compared them to energizers (I've actually never bought duracell 9Vs before) and definitely is different.

  • For my timer Energizer lasts longer than Varta.

  • Thought it's always that price

  • At $3 per battery you could get a new smoke alarm for free and not need to change batteries each year for the next 10 years.

    • Will it really last 10 years though?

      • In most states these are the only legal type of battery smoke alarm that you can use so manufacturers have a good reason to make sure they last 10 years.

If you have lots of false alarms they wouldn't last as long.
