          @The Land of Smeg:

I agree. I am no go nut and generally against guns…but people are going too far and making this political. At the end of the day guns aren't going anywhere and most are responsible with them.

        • +1

          @Savas:

f you can't explain what's wrong with the deal

I voted about the retailer, not the deal. As per the voting rules.

        • +3

@jv: I can't see ethics mentioned anywhere in your link provided.

        • +3

          @jv:

Well since your invalid neg isn't being removed then I'm now going to start abusing the shit out of neg votes with the reason "major issues with retailer" and not explain my issue.

        • +8

@snagseb: "I don't like guns therefore I think no one else should like them or be able to have them. This retailer is going against my own personal ethics and decisions by selling something I don't like."

That oughta cover most of the responses on here.

        • +4

          @potplanty:

Just to put it in perspective. In 2016, there were 43 homicide related gun deaths in Australia, about 260 gun deaths in total if you include accidental death and suicide. In contrast, there were 2600+ deaths from "accidental falls"…

Maybe we should ban all ladder deals and neg Bunnings, because Bunnings sell ladders.

        • -2

I don't need to explain or justify my reason for a neg to you

I gave my own reason, thats the end of it.

You don't dictate what is valid and what is not.

        • @samfisher5986:

That's fine. Just thought you may be able to explain the neg and enlighten me to something I wasn't aware of.

        • @nurries: More tantrums!

        • +1

          @Malarkey:
Because its not in there and the major issue here is not with the store, its with snowflakes.

      • +2

You do, yes. If you're leaving downvotes, you must justify them. Read the rules.

    • -1

I've had some pretty Major issues with this retailer too.

      • -1

The link jv posted for voting rules lists these. Was your major issue one of them?

        Major issue with retailer
        Didn't receive previous purchase.
        Shipping time exceeding expected wait.

    • I've some pretty major issues with this retailer too.

      Hey, i can't vote!

  • Location and/or delivery cost in title please.

I know it's at least $18 to ship with CF.

  • +15

Isn't this cheaper on ebay and amazon? This guys is posting firearm related stuff for shoots and giggles.

    • +1

If you check his post history, this seems accurate.

      • +1

At least the moderators are attempting to keep the comments pointed in a safe direction.

        • Yep I agree, It is a shame to see people being a bit trigger happy with the comments though people should bite the bullet and not jump the gun so much. Good work mods.

    • I was going to post a nerf deal for "shoots and giggles" lol. Maybe a deal on those nerf guns that have been modded to look more like a real firearm.

    • Link please?

    • This guys is posting firearm related stuff for shoots and giggles.

      Exactly…

    • +1

Many of the ones on ebay are counterfeit alibaba specials. For anything Bushnell you need to buy retail.

  • Great deal, OP! I’m going to buy one to mount on my water pistol.

    • The last time I mounted anything to my water pistol, it vibrates.

  • +1

Thanks OP, i might get one.

  • -8

Not a good deal, seen cheaper elsewhere.

    • +3

Source? Care to share the deal you found?

      • -5

No, I don't appreciate my comment being negged.

        • +4

Your comment will get negged because your neg in itself is horse shit.

        • PM me the link, I'll post it as a deal. I don't mind.

        • -3

@potplanty: When I have my negs back from negging all the neggers I'll be negging your neg. Because quite frankly, your comment is a steaming hot pile of green camel turd. Thanks.

        • -1

          @pegaxs: You're a negger, you don't get jack.

        • +1

          @OzBeergain:

I have not negged you. Happy to send a screen shot if that helps. Send me the link to the "better deal elsewhere" and I'll swap it for my screen shot.

        • -1

@pegaxs: Not interested in dealing with you. You want to re-post the deal. You're not getting it. This deal was only posted to provoke members as it's a firearm post, and also posted to test the system. The OP has no interest in the deal.

      • +1

Can be got for cheaper in the US and then shipped with shipmate, but pretty sure that count as a deal as it's not direct shipping. Goes to show though that the votes for the deal are more so about being pro gun than being pro bargain.

        • People avoid buying optics from intl as warranties don't transfer and they are easy to break. Also customs have been jerks for this stuff recently.

        • Exactly mate. Absolutely pathetic of people to down vote others legitimate votes.

        • @curtturtle: Does the warranty cover if you break it? If not then this is a moot point.

        • haha, all the pro gun club trying to kill off all the neg votes! Rofl.

        • @tryagain: Actually a lot of optic warranties cover them if they are broken in the field. But they also fail easily or lose calibration. So you want your warranty.

        • +1

@curtturtle: I think vortex and leupold have warranties that cover anything - run it over with a car and send in the bits, they replace it. Which is more reason to buy from Aus - leupold and vortex has an australian presence - otherwise they have to be returned to US

  • +3

Thanks OP, anyone know if this is compatible with the Ruger 77 Gunsite Scout Stainless .308?

    • -6

OP has no idea, and neither do the test of the 68 upvoters. The only reason why the 68 people made this a front page deal is for the armchair popcorn.

Any other deal listed with such little detail, especially on pricing and discount wouldn't get much love.

    • +3

Yes, it would be. The Ruger has a Picatinny rail on the top of it, so this scope would work

    • Yes, it is compatible. Pointless addition for a bolt action though.

      • +3

I disagree, I was pwning people with that combo on Modern Warfare and BF4 though.

      • Why? (honest question). I would imagine you'd ordinarily use a scope, but wouldn't this still assist with where you're aiming?

        • +2

Because these types of reflex sights are for fast target acquisition, pointless over a simple ironsight if you then need to cycle a bolt in between shots. Far better off with a magnified optic sight that allows for accuracy out to a greater distance with that type of firearm. This would be fine for a shotgun or a paintball marker I guess.

This is in my opinion only of course. I have never owned or used a private firearm, but have extensively trained on and operated probably 15 different government issued firearms over the years.

        • @shtgnjns: What are you? Former special forces turn Government black ops?

        • @Homr: No, nothing special, just military and then law enforcement, although now I am actually back at university studying to become a dentist. Im by no means claiming tonbe an expert, I do have a decent amount of experience training on firearms but virtually none operationally. I only fired a weapon outside of a training scenario once, and it was just to put down an injured animal when it was inhumane to wait for a Ranger.

        • A lot of people use them for pig shooting as with pigs they scatter. It is more important to have fast target acquisition then magnification in this case. It is why people quite often use the slightly less accurate pump action rifles for pigs over a bolt action.

        • @curtturtle: I was thinking the op is putting together a pig outfit - .308 short barrel, red dot. Cleaver has a .357 lever action that would probably be better suited

    • The guidelines say that accessories are allowed, that post was only in relation to guns.

  • +1

I have an issue with the retailer’s ethics (as per voting rules)

    • +5

No, lets be honest… you have an issue with the industry in general, not this one particular retailer.

      • If you have an issue with an entire industry's ethics, then you'd probably have an issue with a retailer's ethics within that industry as well, wouldn't you?
        The two aren't mutually exclusive.

        • +2

People are selective. They have a hatred for caged eggs, but don’t go on some moral bender and neg every post made about Woolworths or Coles because they sell the caged eggs.

          This comment was no different.

        • -1

          @pegaxs:
This would actually be the other way around though. Guidedlight was accused of hating Woolies(who in this argument are the sole supplier of caged eggs), instead of hating caged eggs, when posting in a caged egg thread.

It goes back to the larger group, smaller group fallacy. If all animals are blue, then all dogs are neccesarily blue. However if all dogs are purple, this does not mean that all animals are purple.

        • +2

          @spludgey:

I beg to differ. The original comment was based on the retailers ethics. (ie: Woolworths sells caged eggs, thereby, all other items that Woolworths sells are ethically bad.)

Has @guidedlight had any first hand experience with this retailer, or just jumping on the morally intolerant bandwagon? They cannot condemn a whole retail store based on opinions. This retailer is working within the law and selling legally available items. Whether you or someone disagrees with what they sell, this is just your opinion. I would say, that in the framework of the law, this retailer has very sound ethics.

I'm not pro or anti firearm, but what I am is anti-bullshit and anti-soapbox.

        • @pegaxs:
guidedlight can believe that it's unethical to sell any gun paraphernalia.
If that's the case, then he/she can see the retailer as being unethical without ever having dealt with them directly.
Unethical also doesn't mean that they're not following the law, it's a very subjective assessment.

Going back to your caged egg example. I believe that all caged eggs are produced unethically. Therefore, I can say that I see CagedEggs'R'Us as being an unethical producer/retailer without ever having dealt with them.

  • -1

Why on earth would anyone need a scope? Why even have a weapon that said scope would be attached too?

    • +4

Why on earth would anyone need a Big Mac?

      • or a cat that they let outside?

    • +1
      1. This isn't a scope.

      2. For taking out targets at distance.

      3. For hunting pest animals.

      • +1

A friend of mine plays outdoor laser skirmish, they would be interested in these too.

      • I reckon they're more for quick acquisition. There's also an argument that you have better peripheral vision using a red dot because your eyes aren't focused on the front sight - that you also see around the sight, and are therefore safer.

    • R.R.P - do you have any interests? If you do, it's possible that you can understand other people having interests too, although they may not be the same as yours.

  • +5

Good deal, got one for my Adler.

  • I gave + vote to this as I disagree with PC warriors but seriously, this and most firearm related deals are not really useful.

Every time I see this deal I'm like meh. Unsure if it's cheaper than local gunshop or how much is the delivery charge, does it shop interstate? And so on.

    • There are plenty of deals here that I say meh to and have no interest in. What is you point exactly?

      • Is generally not informative as the other deals.

Perhaps due to low number of people who can actually buy one.

  • +1

    what is the RRP?

How is this even a deal if you haven't clearly stated what the bargain is?

    • You can get it elsewhere cheaper as I indicated in my neg vote (until the trolls got to it), this isn't a good deal.

      • Got a link to where I might be able to get it cheaper?

  • Welcome to OzBargain: where moderation rules are haphazardly made and inconsistently applied.

  • +2

This is clearly just trying to stir up drama.

Neg because I have major issues with the retailer from a moral perspective (guns), and because of the antagonizing nature of the "deal" presented. Not to mention there's no RRP listed so who knows what their normal price is and how much of a 'saving' this represents.

    • normal retail is around $150-$170

  • NEG for we are not RRPbargain.

  • +1

I've never used the "report" option for invalid neg votes so many times before!

Only other price I can really find in Aus is $169. So I'm guessing this is a good deal

    • Same here, people are just negging for the fun of it and aren't following the guidelines. I did a bit of research and could not find it cheaper anywhere else. I feel bad for the moderators having to deal with this.

      • +3

And let's not forget positive voting for the fun of it. I find it amusing that there are so many votes on a deal item that has an unknown shipping cost, unknown stock level and which is non sought after.

        • +1

Yep you're correct, it works both ways, people are just voting for the fun of it for the most part and are not identifying whether it is a bargain or not..

There are clear guidelines for a reason, and people are just completely forgetting these.

        • -1

True. And quality bargains like this got only 4+ and 1-.

Maybe I need to put that mod firearm disclaimer on the bottom of my deals from now on.

        • +1

@OldBugger: I agree. I know nothing about this item, and only did a quick google search to find out if it appeared on the surface to be just a troll post, or valid. Not knowing my subject matter is why I didn't vote + or -

        • @OldBugger: Lol, you didn’t link to a ‘quality bargain’ at all.

        • @Puff Braddy: Exactly.

What about this one? Any better?

      • OP should do some research then and include RRP in their post

      • Actually, I have to plead ignorance (well, not any more). I've only just looked up incorrect use of negative voting. I've negged a few control freaks because of their…narrow views. My bad. This site is really quite well thought out; as usual it's us (people) that are the problem :)

  • Anything not related to this deal, aka firearms discussion will be removed. Please discuss there not here.

  • Not a great deal, have an issue with the seller, also tired of seeing this website go downhill with gun products.

    • +7

      what exactly is the issue?

      they kicked your dog?

    • +8

I agree, im tired of stores like banggood and gearbest flooding ozbargain with cheap chinese goods that will go to landfill and probably kill baby seals. Ozbargain used to be a place of light now all i see is darkness. MOGA (make ozbargain great again)

      • Actually, the stuff that has been coming out of china has changed. Quality control is improving as are costs - slowly. The few things I've bought from gearbest have been incredible value for the quality. The US equivalent would have been many times more expensive. The cheapest items were aaa led torches - even these are very good, and $1 each. The same torches are rebranded and sold for up to $15.00. But I always research, and usually when I find something that looks good, it is, so I can find lots of reviews for it on youtube.

  • +2

    The battery isn't rechargeable

You can get sights that are

    • battery life of 3,000 hours from a $2 CR2032 battery….
