This is OzBargain, people will happily save $80 to get a colour which looks like vomit or has a scratch or something like that. I you held out on the Amazon Deal to get a white one, you are basically paying about $80 just for the colour.

Aldi stores (like Capalaba) that haven't sold out of the 1tb with assassin creed and rainbow six. Currently have them for sale for $249.

@pennypincher98: Not exactly. Microsoft is trying to push their own Windows 10 + Xbox One ecosystem with their own subscription service (Xbox Live).
Let's see if switch players can play against any other platform when it gets released. I'm guessing not.
Also note that I own the PS1/2/3/4, Xbox Original/360/One and Nintendo Gamecube/Wii/WiiU/Switch (64 died on me). I don't have any bias towards one platform, they've all screwed me in their own ways over the years.

probabaly posted it as it’s a cheap deal at the moment …..if you have kids and need an xbox telling them to wait doesn’t really cut it to save a few bucks ….if it’s a weekend coming up, friends for sleep over and you need it it’s the best deal on the day.

My main question is actually why OP elected to post this. It's because OP was quite upset about missing out on the Amazon deal initially (but Amazon did have another one later which he did purchase). There was a thread of discussion about it. I doubt OP would personally purchase this.
As for this deal, we had Microsoft's bundled deals recently, Amazon deals, and even further back Aldi deals. All significantly better.
Also, I understand the Minecraft comment, but that deal has 3 months GamePass (sorry, this is incorrect, only 1 month), and a vertical stand included (and the game(s)).
I apologise if you feel I am picking on you. I am not. It's just I personally prefer OZBers getting the same XB1S or better deals than I did. Also, if I wouldn't purchase it (if I don't have an XB1S), I wouldn't post it.

@netsurfer: seems very easy to fall out though. It just slides in with a small tab either side. Doesn’t click in. Not an issue if it’s permanently sitting there but if you pick the console up or move it, it just falls off
I can only speak for myself. If you count postage it's more than a 50% increase to go from Minecraft to white. I'll live with the Minecraft. It's ugly but I don't think the white is particularly sleek either to be honest. Certainly not worth >$90/50%. But I guess if you can't get use to it, you pay the aesthetics tax.
I finally got the Minecraft version but it was tough call. In the end I figured the console would be largely hidden from view and the controller will get less dirty looking than a white one.
I guess we'll never see a black One-S now that the X is out.
I actually didn’t mind the look of the console that much. Controller is terrible on the other hand. A green controller and all the buttons are also green…… they should have stuck with the standard button colour scheme. Especially the a,b,x,y

Not a big fan of the Crimson Omen controller - I don't mind the dark red theme, but the button text and colour - light grey (so I can imagine the issue with Minecraft controller). I do need to look at the buttons from time to time (lousy gamer - can press the wrong button and forgot the actual location of the button).

Agree. At least the Minecraft bundle came with a game and free delivery. This deal has to add delivery and comes with no bundled games so still an additional cost to get something to play.

Bundle has a stand included as well, which is not part of other regular versions, approximately $20 at least if bought seperately.

No (which is why no one has negged). They've come up twice though, and people have had the opportunity to buy Minecraft at $199 (or $179 for a new account) as recently as last week.
I think you failed to mention the first time it came up it sold out in about 30 mins.. and the second lot sold in around 40-45 mins.
I was lucky enough to nab one the second time simply because I saw it on the front page about 15 mins after it was posted.

BUT I do get your point. Yes it's not an always available deal and you have to happen to be looking at the right time. Still if there's a choice, jump at an ugly one at $179. Many are selling used for much more.

Amazon had a deal for XB1S 1TB minecraft bundle running back in Feb for $220 for nearly one week. In May, they had another deal for $199 last month. Then, last week, they had another deal.
If you haven't purchased one yet, chances are you don't need one right now. XB1S' GPU is roughly RX550 (it cannot even beat it). The 4K UHD blu-Ray player is nice to have. There is no need to rush and get an XB1S at the moment. Also, you really don't want to pay too much premium for 1TB over 500GB (yes 1TB is much nicer, but chances are you will use an external hard drive with greater size anyway).

Just to add. With the next generation of xbox (not to be confused with another version of the xbox one) 2020 bound i'm going to just wait. I have the halo 5 console and was always close to pulling the trigger on an S or even X. I'd honestly urge others who have an xbox original to wait for the next generation.

I have a Xbox One with dbrand skins on it and ordered a Xbox One S from last Amazon deal. I haven't received mine yet, but it looks good when stands vertically with transparent bottom and redstone trail in pics. If I don't like it on arrival, can go for dbrand anyways.

Given that you bought one last week for $179, I don't see a need to tell people it is hard to get it so pull the trigger. It's fine to post the deal, but don't entice people to buy it. If it is good, people will buy it. There were also Aldi deals (and the JB Hi Fi deal before). The Aldi deals were normal (white) consoles and were cheaper than this deal with games (not Minecraft). The JB deal had 4 games (which at the time if you were willing to sell them you could really save - apparently…) - also white console.
On the other hand, there is nothing wrong to remind people about the previous deals and there is nothing wrong wanting OZBers getting better deals than I did. If people are unhappy about that and want to neg me, go ahead.
@netsurfer: ok few things. Firstly, this was in February not June. That's quite a substantial time in between.
Secondly, I am not enticing people to buy it. I'm simply providing an option for people to buy it if they choose.
Thirdly, I am aware that this isn't the best price. I know in the last couple of months there's been deals but there are still people who want it.
Finally, you might remember (or you can look back through my comments) I got a 500GB console for $239 from Microsoft "Starter Pack" - ended up returning it because it wasn't a great deal. Fast forward a week or two and I get one of the Minecraft ones. Note: I didn't actually return that other console until I had ordered this one - because I wasn't sure if a better price would come along.
There are better deals that come along but if you want an Xbox One S now then this is an alright deal.

What was my initial comment at the time? Return it (and that was BEFORE the $179 deal). You experienced it first hand and that's the general view of XB1S, the price plays a big part of this console. It's not a console where you "show off" to your mates. It's a console to play games relatively cheaply.
If you want an XBox One S right now, getting this deal means you are paying premium for the 1TB option. So many OZBers got way better deals before.

The cheapest deal right now does not necessary equates to a bargain. Also, it does feel a bit strange that after obtaining a deal that's $179 last week, you then posted a deal that's $271.
The reason this gets 100+ votes is because some people would just vote for okay XB1S deals or discounted XB1S deals. A better way to measure whether it is a bargain is look at the number of units sold. Right now, that is 9. And, this is a deal which has 100+ OZB votes.
XB1S isn't a console where you simply purchase it at the time you feel like it. It is a console where you should only get it when it is at a bargain price. About "but what if you need one now" argument, sorry I am not buying it. I bought an XB1S back in Dec 2016, taking advantage of the $100 Amex rebate and this deal still pales in comparison. I am happy that there were a few good bargain deals since then, but this isn't one of them.
Basically, I cannot recommend this to my friends - they will think I am either crazy or I want them to buy XB1S at a price much higher than I paid for 18 months ago (now, what kind of friend would I be)?

If that's the case, the best advice from an OZB point of view is to let the person know he/she shouldn't purchase one now.
We have seen multiple XB1S bargains since the release of XB1X and Amazon had 3 in total in the past 6 months. This is NOT a console to rush and get if the price is not quite right.
I look forward to better deals, not an inferior deal which needs to rely on people's desperation to get the deal done. That's a better OZB spirit I think. Again, as I mentioned several times, I am more than happy to see better console deals than the one I got 18 months ago. It's just hard to feel good about an XB1S deal which is inferior than a deal 18 months ago, and there were several bargains since then.

6 months is a very very long time to wait. There becomes a point where one no longer wishes to wait in hope that sometime the price may drop a bit.
I gave it 2 weeks and got a better price, but if I hadn't I wouldn't have just refunded it and not bought one. I can understand that there are better deals (even from 18 months ago) but I'm not going to people don't buy it because it's a bit more expensive now.
