    • Transfer time was super quick. Think it was less than an hour. International speed tests run way faster. Peak hour download tests also much quicker. Upload speed has unfortunately halved.

  • Would it be possible to sign up for this deal to activate end of september?

    • Yes. I just did that today and asked to be connected on 18/09.

      • Thanks bud, will sign up now. Was on mungi 100/40

  • For me. Good deal as I'm about to move to a new apartment soon and FTTP is available.

Should I go with their modem? Or bring my own? Asus RT-AC68U seems quite popular here and on whirlpool. Or does anyone else have any other recommendations?

    Thanks

Get the Asus. It's very good for its price. If you can get this for around 150$ its a great deal. But don't buy it for more than 180$.

    • Grab one off Gumtree/MarketPlace

  • Whilst I feel these temp discounts are unfair to existing loyal customers, it has tempted me to finally switch so I guess it worked. If they had left it as 1 free trial month like they started with then everyone would have had a benefit and I would have signed up quite a few months ago.

Cheers OP, just ordered the 50/20.

Switched from Mungi. My 5 months of $5 off discount (from previous Buzz code) as coming to an end next month, but thought I'd just swap over at the end of this billing period. Will be interesting to see how Aussie BB compares to the Mungi service.

Just switched from Telecube to ABB on a 50/20 HFC in Melbourne. Ordered 10:30am … connected 11:40am without any downtime. Impressed!
Speedtests are a bit faster (it's not peak right now) … actually not that much more but it feels much faster and sites come up instantly. Pretty happy so far … after 10min using the service.

Big question will be what I do after the 6 months. 79$ is a bit over my budget. I know quality costs money and I am happy to pay a bit more …. but not sure if it's worth $79 to me.

    • Sign up to mungi and schedule it after the 6 months has ended. $60

      • Thanks for the tip. I guess I just see what offers are available in Feb.
I would prefer to stick with one provider which offers value and fair service at a reasonable price. ABB is maybe more premium than what I need.
(I was with Exetel for 9 years on DSL … they had their ups and downs but it was always value.). Sad that customer retention is not important anymore and everyone looks at new customers - ah well - I can adapt!

        • +1

          Exetel have a 12 month contract $60

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod: Yep. They adjusted their pricing to $60 - they wanted a bit more when I swapped from DSL to NBN which made me change providers. Might give them a go again after the 6 months with Aussie Broadband are over. I guess the quality will be not as good but it's also 19$ cheaper per month. Ah well … 6 months to decide.

Although we didn't post this offer ourselves, I would like to add this promotion has an end date of 11:59pm Sunday 19/08/18

    • Just tried to move from Mungi but got the dreaded over 80% sold message - can we sign up at this price and transfer when more bandwidth becomes available? It said around the middle of September…

    • Thinking to switch but no allocation until 21/09. If I go ahead and sign up today but decided to cancel the activation will I get a refund?

      • +1

You don't pay anything until your service gets connected. Its is worth noting that you will of used your only chance at redeeming a "new customer" offer though

    • I plan on signing up to u guys i have fttp i have new house built moving in abouy wrek and bit can still get this offer?

    • I plan on signing up to u guys i have fttp i have new house built moving in abouy wrek and bit can still get this offer?

    • Hi Rep,

      2 questions:
It says there isn't allocation until 21/09, is this date firm or will there be a possibility of a delay?
If I request to connect on Sat/Sun will I be connected on a weekend or do I wait until the next business day?

      Thanks

    • Hey rep, any chance of getting a late acceptance for the deal?

I am wits end with my current provider and would like to make the switch.

      Cheers.

FTTP from Mungi (Left) to ABB (Right) at 2pm

Will update with the peak comparison tonight.

      • did you ever find out with Mungi why it's so slow during peak hours? They're telling me there's some services with 'íssues' and I happen to be one of them.

My speedtest on fttp 50/20 Perth tonight: http://www.speedtest.net/result/7556940886

        • Can't be bothered since I was thinking of switching anyway after they announced that they are scrapping the 100/40 plan.

        • @EVA-01: Thanks mate - quite disappointed to say the least as I didn't have these issues coming from Buzz and Telecube.

  • Can we refer someone and then they signup using the code SWITCH20…we(referrer) get a bonus one month free and referee gets $20 off and ABB gets a new customer…win for everyone!
I dont know how referrals work with ABB..only signed up last night to connected next week.
Edit: ignore the spellings pls :(

    • Hi alterego13 with our signup you can only use a promo or a referral not both. - Cheers, ABB

  • I'm still getting invalid promo code error

Just buy their modem or better off BYO?

    • If you're wanting a modem, they have their free modem promo that ends tonight https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/396571

If your modem works and does everything you need now and in the near future, probably no need.

But if you're like me and running 90mbps through a 10+ year old Billion 7800n, perhaps the free modem (with far more capabilities) is better than this $120 promo saving

  • FTTP Perth

    Mungi Speedtest at 5.15pm:

    Telecube Speedtest at 5.25pm:
    http://www.speedtest.net/result/7559127602

I reverted back to Telecube for another month while waiting for ABB to have more bandwidth in my area. At least no more congestion issues during peak hour. And much better pings :)

Looking forward to get connected with ABB now.

  • Just moved to Aussie Broadband from Telecube. What a difference!!

  • Changed today while at the office. Great support/sales team. Looking forward to getting home to check the speeds!

  • Switched this morning from Mungi. My new account was activated within 10 minutes after the order was placed.
This morning ABB could achieve download 95.72Mbps and upload 36.63Mbps.
Mungi had download 86.00Mbps and upload 35.23Mbps.
Last night 9:00pm, Mungi could only achieve download 41.63Mbps. The upload speed was OK, at 35.68Mbps.
    Will test again tonight.

  • Just signed up with minutes to spare! Very happy with my Telstra cable right now but the increase in upload will be nice :D

  • Aww, Missed out :(

  • I tried to sign up when the offer was on and AussieBB's website said they had reached capacity at my location. Then surprise surprise a few hours after the offer finished they sent me an email saying they have additional capacity and I was able to sign up. Really?

  • +1

Just switched from Mungi 50/20 to AussieBB 50/20.

The difference is noticeable. Mungi, although receiving speeds of 40-44mbps down in speed tests seemed to lag a bit getting going. AussieBB is lightning, pumping 46mbps+ instantly. Pages load noticeably quicker, just a bit more snap to them.

I was having slow down issues during peak times with Mungi so it will be interesting to see if Aussie outperforms there as well. So far I'm impressed with the speed and ease of setup/connection.

    • keep us posted on the peak times speed :)
