We had a blast last year with community organised OzBargain Birthday Parties where multiple meetups across Australia had been organised. I managed to have a chat with reps from MobileCiti and Wireless 1 the other day, whom have helped to organise the Parramatta meetup last year, and they are keen to know whether we will be running something similar again this year.
Yes we will be running community-organised birthday parties again this year.
I am putting the words out early in August so people can start getting organised. Or at least thinking about it. Do check out last year's post to see what it is about, but basically,
- Organise a birthday party for OzBargainers in your city
- Post a thread in Site Discussions to get started, titled it "
[OzBargain 12th Birthday] <City> Meetup" - It can be on any day in November 2018
- Get 20 or more people and OzBargain will sponsor $500 towards venue or catering. More if you can gather a larger crowd of OzBargainers.
Example of events:
- Pub meetup
- Pizza picnic
- BBQ in the park
- Swap-meet for all your Xiaomi products
Moreover, we are also looking for more merchant participation this year. In the last Parramatta meetup MobileCiti, Wireless 1 & JW Computers not only organised pretty much everything for us, they have also provided prizes for the random draw that night (Oppo phone, Zhiyun gimbal, DJI drone, etc). They have volunteered to do Sydney West again this year, but I am hoping for some merchants in Melbourne or Brisbane can help us organising one.
