What is Quick Charge 3.0 and VoltIQ?

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology is 4x faster than conventional charging and up to 40% quicker than Quick Charge 2.0. It typically charges a compatible device from 0% to 80% in 35 minutes. It achieves this by increasing the voltage from 3.6V to 20V with 200mV increments. This technology is backwards compatible with Quick Charge 2.0 and Samsung AFC which is capable of charging a 3500mAh battery from 0% to 60% in 30 minutes.

Both chargers feature VoltIQ intelligent charging that charges up to 5V/2.4A in each port simultaneously for devices that are not using QC technology.

  • Any other pros for the CCTA compared withe the CC2TF apart from not needing an additional USB-C cable?

    • No that's all there is to it. The additional QC3 port has been switched over for a USB-C cable.

      • Thankyou

  • +1

    Thx Clear.
    I'll buy both.

  • +3

    Great deal Clear.

If possible please negotiate a deal for us on USB-C to USB-C PD cables.

    • Tronsmart just released some new cables. I'll see what I can do.

      • +4

These Tronsmart ones look like normal ones (USB-A to USB-C). Already collected heaps from U-Green deals lately. I am looking for USB-C to USB-C because my PD chargers don't support Rapid Charging for my Google Pixel 2 XL if there is an OTG adapter in-between.

        • +5

Hmm you're right. Seems to be a real lack of USB-C to USB-C. I'll try and dig up some.

  • +1

Pay an extra $5~ and get a 3rd port if you want,

Maybe Geekbuying can do a deal on this one too?

    • yea wouldn't mind if Geekbuying could do a ddeal on this one

    • +2

They were low stock when I asked previously a couple months ago. I'll check with them again.

      • +1

        Thanks Clear!!

currently have a 2port already but really looking for a nice 3 port one like this.

  • +1

Any deals on USB-C to USB-C cables rep? Those don't come very often.

    • +5

You can pick up terrible quality ones in Daiso you mean.

    • +7

You actually can't. You can pick up slow 1A/2A car chargers, but not QC 3.0 car chargers.

  • Thank you!

  • +2

Is there any QC chargers with an FM transmitter by any chance?

    • +1

They exist but Geek do not have any with QC.

  • Just ordered one to replace mine that got stolen out of my car last night, great timing OP!

  • Are there any deals on the chargers with FM transmitter, such as the Xiaomi Roidmi 3s? Lightinthebox had it on sale for $7.99 USD delivered

    • +2

I'll try my luck and see what they can offer.

  • +1

    Thanks bought one

  • +1

thanks was looking for a dual qc 3.0 car charger

  • +1

    Thanks Op!

  • +1

    Great deal OP.

  • Are iphone/ipads compatible?

    • Apple don't use QC3.0 so it will utilise VoltIQ that will charge them up to 5V/2.4A.

      • So i bought it for nothing : (

        • That's still faster than an iPhone charger. You're future proofing 😉

        • This thing charges iPhones quick as.

  • +2

good deal got 1 each thanks OP

  • Did you guys checkout with paypal? Ended up being $9.79 cheers.

    • Damn it, could you put the code in with paypal before making another stupid account? I couldn't find it without going through their checkout.

    • +1

yes, used paypal just because I don't like leaving my credit card details all over the place, happy to suck up the extra expense for a bit more security and house keeping.

    • Yeah I got the same with PayPal! Their exchange rates are awful…

      • +1

There are quite a few currency conversion free CCs and Debit cards available now without annual fees. You can get one, set it up in PP to use it's own rate and you won't get flogged by PP's exchange rate.

  • Does this provide Fast Charging for Huawei at least?

I know they're on a different standard to QC3.0 but I've heard reports of QC3.0 charger working for Huawei…

    • I can't get it to indicate fast charging on my Mate 10. I does charge reasonably well but the phone doesn't report Fast Charging and obviously no chance of Super Charging.

      • +1

supercharging is a niche market compared to number that just do QC3, Huawei make some of their own chips so can innovate beyond what QUALCOMM offer, but would need to be licesnsed from Huawei, there is a lot of QUALCOMM silicon out there hence QC3.

    • Huawei have FCP (9V/2A) and SCP (4.5V/5A). Some QC3.0 chargers support FCP but this one does not. SCP is restricted to Huawei chargers only.

  • so any news on QC 4+ accessories? appreciate devices at moment are limited, but always good to be ready

    • QC4, after seeing the guy who left his phone to charge on the passenger seat, in the sun, and the battery ignited and burnt his car, even QC3 should come with a safety warning for charging in cars, it does get a lot hotter than a 5v 2.1a charge (12w) compared to QC 3 (30W).

    • Nothing yet. There are only 8 devices out that support QC4+ but not all of them actually have it enabled. Considering it supports USB-PD 3.0 it shouldn't be too long until more manufacturers take it on.

  • -5

I have 2 of these and they have both stop working after a few weeks of use. Poor quality.

    • +2

And you never bothered to contact me or GeekBuying? Both of those could have been replaced under warranty. I'm happy to look into it if you can please provide your order number.

      • -2

Sorry, I am not voting down for you as a seller but rather for the quality of the product. As to the warranty, I did not bother as I am seldom need to use it. I left it in a tray and had forgotten it for a few years. Warranty has expired when I stumble upon it.

        • I left it in a tray and had forgotten it for a few years.

Then you couldn't possibly have had 2 of these, QC3.0 wouldn't have been out then, and I'm not sure if even normal QC was out that early.

  • thks bought 3 ….that's my car and extended family sorted for QC,

I did notice that there is now a car charger with 1x usb A port and a C port-PD, that was stull $24 US though

    https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-C2P-42W-USB-C-2-Po…

wondering if it can charge a notebook if the notebook is turned off ?

  • How about a deal for ORICO UCP-5P ?

    • +1

Yeah, I would like to try the ORICO as well but not Tronsmart.

      • Joybuy has the ORICO 5 Ports QC3.0 USB Car Charger 52W for US$9.89

  • Anyone know what's a good compact 2 port car charger with at least one USB Type C PD output?

  • Hey OP, any deals on the tronsmart titan plus 90W? (5 QC3.0 ports) In need for another one. :)

    • Loved to but the stock is far too low. Hopefully a restock happens soon.

  • +1

how much petrol does this use and how much stress does this put on your car?

    • +1

Never been asked this before. Very very very minimal. This should help you work it out if you change up their calculations.

At full load the Dual QC3 runs at 36W and USB-C at 33W. Very unlikely for them to be both running at full load. More likely 5-18W in one QC3 port. Also worth mentioning a typical headlight can pull 35-60W each.

  • Ordered, worked fine. thanks OP :)

  • Bought one, I wanted one like this from some time. Thank you OP! :)

  • Question for the knowledgeable folk.
I have a Telstra ZTE A462 android phone. When I plug it into the car's USB port the battery % as well as a lightning symbol within the battery symbol appears. However when I connect it to my Tronsmart charger only the battery % appears.

    Any ideas why there's a difference ?
    Thanks

    • This is late, but the USB port on your car transfers data as well (so your phone is connected to the car for music, possibly Android Auto/Apple Carplay, etc). The charger obviously only supplies power.

  • +1

Might be a bit of a silly question, but this would be fine powering a quick charge phone and a dash cam concurrently?

    • +1

Perfectly fine question. Yes it will be fine. I've been doing the same for years.

  • Thanks OP. Just bought one. The TRONSMART4 deal still works.

  • Thanks OP!

    • +1

Yes I can. I'll send you a coupon soon and will have it in a post later.

  • Had one of these USB-C for a year or so now. Solid performance at the $20 I paid.

  • Received mine today. Gonna try it out tomorrow.
