Thats 2am east coast time? Flew back from kl , plane was good, price was good. A meal muffin and 2 drinks was 12 dollars… whats not to love?

      Yep, AEST according to https://www.airasia.com/en/home.page.

They're my favourite LCC, I really enjoy their Nasi Goreng, and it was like $5 or something last time! I got two!

Love the food, prices and generally the airline. If only they will keep at least a few flights flying from/to Tullamarine, instead of everything moved to Avalon from Dec onwards.

        • I expect Badgerys Creek (Sydney) airport will be as bad - currently slated to open 2026.

  • What are the dates like, or is just in general? Any more examples you can put up?

    • Travel is available from 18 February to 26 November 2019, more info from them on routes when it gets launched, I guess!

      • Trying to fly out Feb 7th. Standard luck there! :D

    Thanks OP.

    • Appreciate it. We do what we can :)

These sales are usually excellent. Especially for domestic flights within Thailand.
In my experience the last 3 weeks of June and first 3 weeks of July are generally not good price wise, and also end Sept.Early Oct. Only a certain number of seats will be at the sale price, and as they sell out the prices will slide up. Thus the benefit of joining. Website ok Sunday mornings as Asia is still asleep.

    • Domestic flights in Thailand you can sometimes get cheaper when there is no sale or wait for the free seat sales.
You basically only pay tax. It's cheaper then taking a bus.

  • what about return flights? are they on offer too say around april kul/melb??

    • Usually around $99-109 for the return leg when the outbound leg is priced at $160ish.

  • I am looking for 2 week Gold Coast to Ho Chi Minh return fare from the Feb sale start date. Is there anyway of finding out the sale price to stay up for the sale?

Flew once with AirAsia to Japan years ago, had my flight cancelled a week or two before departure and had to switch to a flight 3 days before or a couple days after, which made restructuring bookings/other tickets an absolute nightmare, (whereas Jetstar have never shifted me after 7 or so international return trips). Never again.

I was waiting for the horror stories to emerge. Look. It happens to all airlines. I've made over 2 dozen flights with this mob and they've all been excellent. I'll be all over this deal likes ho's on Santa.

    • Yep AirAsia will reduce the number of flights or cut destinations if the demand isn't there. Not great, but that is how they keep their prices down. As a frequent AirAsia traveller I have been cut or rescheduled a few times but they always offer a refund option.

      • +1

I have had one canceled flight, they send an email you can get a refund or change the flight if it's an option.
My refund was with in a few days.

Can we ask price beat from jetstar? Do they stop fly direct from Sydney to Bali?

    • Price match is now via return email with 72 hours for them to respond so I would say not.

  • Thanks OP….now sitting up, wasting time until 2am!! Hoping to get some good deals for school hols next year….interestingly, flight in Sept 19 are not released yet on their normal site.

Be aware AA will switch to Avalon Airport(start from early December) from tullamarine airport.

  • Can anyone else log in?

    • Are you getting the log out error? Like Air asia Big won't log you in? That's what I am getting and no sale fares through normal website even if you're logged in.

      • Yeap, website is getting absolutely hammered

  • Got in after waiting 25 mins in the queue. 170.50 for the 6:50am flight to KL. Not that cheap though? Plus 62.50 for 20KG checked luggage

Have found that for not much more you can fly full service once you add all the extra's.

For example, for 2 to fly to Phuket with sale deals is $1756 or I can fly Singapore Airlines for $1800! Bali is about $848 pp once you add baggage etc. Can get it for that on Garuda and they fly direct!

    • Wtf how many extras did you add to get it that high. my last booking with them was $329 return to syd- Phuket with a flight to udon thani ($30 return)

If you want to save you need to be flexible with dates, don't book to many add-ons you probably don't need.

      • It is just baggage and seats - can only go school holidays due to being a teacher. So, expect them to be higher but not as much as full service.

    • But you +voted?

  • Thanks! was waiting for this deal..

Normally sale fares show up as SALE, all that I am getting is PROMO

    • Are they discounted at least?

Mine says 'BIG Member Discount Applied' on top of the fare columns.

      • Big Member Discount you get all of the time after log in.
I was up at 5am today and a lot of prices are nowhere near normal 'sale' prices. Syd - DMK Bangkok usually $167 - 190 on sale if get in quick. None like that this time.
DMK to PNH same prices as yesterday for my dates.
I did get a reasonable price for PNH - SYD. and grabbed it out of frustration.
Note supposedly there is a BIG member points redemption sale on now too.

  • Holiday travel periods are not exempted. Get in while you can before they're gone.

  • anyone else getting a greyed out purchase button

    • Sometimes happens if you initially selected a 'return' booking, but only clicked on your outwards selection price. And not yet clicked on your return date.
Note for all, use Paypal payment for Australia departures to avoid booking fees.

!? AirAsia Big member sale NOT a sale. $695 syd to phuket return october (+$10 booking). Can find Airasia cheaper on other sites. Qantas had a sale same price:((

    • +2

lol yeah. I've been looking but yeah, another fake sale from air Asia.

  • Got Mel (avalon) to Bali in Sept/Oct school hols for about 350 each way - with baggage and seats. Not too bad for holiday time. But their flights to Phuket worked out more expensive than Singapore Airlines.

Got flights for $300 return to Singapore during school holidays next year. Legoland here we come!

  • +2

Lot of people saying not a sale. Well I've got a four leg journey (done to avoid late arrivals/overnight flights) for three people (2 adults one 4 year old) Avalon - KL - Phuket - KL - Avalon in Oct 2019 for $942 total. Including meals but no bags (won't need them). Seems like an awesome deal to me!

Would have been even a little cheaper than that if i'd just done a straight Avalon to Phuket return in the one booking, but it would have been a late arrival on the first day and overnight on the way back, no good with the kid (or me, to be honest.) Cheap as airbnbs near KL airport so will be around $1000 including the overnight stops.

  • How do you tell if you're getting a sale fare when looking at flights?

I am flexible on times but mostly looking at our winter so like anytime in May to August.

I am interested in return flights from PER to mainly China and or maybe Philippines and the Maldives.

Just received a notification via the AirAsia app that the deal is extended for 48 hours. Now ends 11th Sept 2018

  • +2

    AAsia Tips.
    - I always book 2 one-way flights rather than one 'return' booking. It gives me a little flexibility in case I need to cancel/change the date of one leg and rebook it.
Also note that if you fail to take a flight, then after the flight date you can claim a refund of the taxes less a small processing fee. Eg about $65 refund on a Sydney to Bangkok (DMK) booking.

    https://support.airasia.com/s/customcontactsupport?language=…
    - select refund on drop down eform

    • Good tip about refund of taxes. It just never occurred to me, so would have let the entire amount be forfeited.

      • +1

Yep, a lot of full service airlines, for example Malaysian Air, give no refund of the taxes, even though they don't pay them for 'no shows'.
