It's during the activation of the sim is when you initiate the port-in, not when you purchase the sim.

  • So this plan will rollover to $36.90 a month if you do not cancel?

    • +1

Isn't if we remove auto recharge, your account will just stay as no credit? But people can still call your number? How long will your number got cancelled if you never recharge?

    • yes, so after activating you should login to your kogan mobile account and cancel autorecharge and remove your card straight away.

  • What is the data speed on Kogan?

    • I did a speed test as I was leaving MEL airport a couple of weeks ago and got 180mbs. Fitzroy North is good for 60ish.

I use these cheap kogan deal's for Extra data and just activate a new voucher with a new SIM every month make sure you untick auto recharge when activating.
Been doing it for over 12 months without a drama

  • For anyone with an iPhone, does the carrier display name (top left) say Kogan or Vodafone?

    • It says Vodafone.

    • its Vodaphone AU (forgot to refresh the page after 30 min XD)

    Got one. Thanks

  • Can I port my vodafone number to kogan?

    • definitely, yes.

    • Thats what I did on one of the BOGOF deal, its lightning quick, takes less than 2 minutes and your old sim will die and switched over to the new sim. But if you port from other carriers, still only takes about 15-20 mins to switch over.

  • Good for iPad data SIMs?

    • Pondering the same thing, though I did see Kogan have separate mobile and tablet offerings. Does that mean the sim won’t allow this plan on a tablet?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Perfect timing. My Vodafone contract is ending 23 Nov 2018. I can port in my existing number on the 20th.

  • How long would it take to churn from Optus? Vaya->Optus was a 2 week nightmare.

    • It's usually about 10-40 minutes during business hours for me

      • Thanks. Do you know what happens after 90 days?

    • +1

Same-carrier ports can be a nightmare. My Optus > Catch took 2 days, while Catch > Kogan took 10 minutes.

Catch is Optus network, and Kogan is Vodafone network.

Don't think you'd have problems going Optus > Kogan.

      • Awesome. Do you know what happens after 90 days?

        • +1

You'll have to be more specific. What happens after 90 days?

If you mean if it autorenews at $34.90/month, yes it does (and it is poor value compared to their BOGOF offer). So you should cancel autorenew and remove your card after activating so it doesn't automatically charge your card after 90 days. Find another prepaid offer and port out or buy a yearly plan for existing customers and renew with Kogan. I do the former.

  • Does anyone know how strict Kogan is with their one-month rule? I’ve just ported out of them to Telstra and plan port back in with this plan, but Telstra prepaid plans are only 28 days, not the full 30 days, so I’m a bit concerned that this plan won’t work when I get around to porting back in…

    • They are strict you need to wait the full 30 days or else the voucher code during activation will fail.
      I know this from experiance.

      • Ok, thanks for that…damnit…

  • Does Kogan ever give discount to existing customers when they need to recharge? As I mentioned before I would love to stay with kogan after the yearly plan expires, but I hate to port out and in after 31 days (Yes I now got 4 Kogan plans total in the family) meaning I need to do this 4 times!!!

  • Do they deliver SIMs to parcel lockers?
