    20V Battery 4.0AH $29.99

This contains 5 x 18650 Samsung cells right?

    • Base on the size I believe it contains 10x 2000mAh 18650

      • +1

10 x 2000mah Samsung cells for $3 each is pretty good! (Unprotected cells though I believe so please use a smart charger!)

        • +2

I only opportunistically grab cells from laptops and stuff people don't want rather than going out and buying packs, but either way for any cell I get and tests ok (Lii-500 cycle and leave a week to test self-discharge), I solder and re-wrap them with a protection board from AliEx.

  • +12

I'll just put this here again for anyone who may have missed it…

These packs are a good source of bulk Samsung 20Q 18650 cells. Each 4Ah pack contains ten cells so at $3each it's not a bad way of getting a heap of decent quality 2000mAh cells. Disassembly pics here and here

    • What other things can they be used in?

      • +7

You can use them in torches and torches and torches and also flashlights and more flashlights

        • +3

          Don't forget headlamps

        • +1

And camping lanterns, and in cree torches

      • +2

As Dust says above, Torches & Flashlights would be the most common use for the normal person but anyone with a bit of electronic/soldering skill you can use these for nearly any 'Lithium' based product as 18650s have become the (possibly unofficial) standard.. for example, a Telsa car uses 4500 x 18650s and the massive South Australian Power Bank uses 14.5 million of them! So yeah, pretty much the standard.

        • Tesla moved to 21700 because they didn't want to share 18650s lol.

    • Would you happen to know if it’s possible to repurpose these into a dead Dyson DC59 battery enclosure?

      • +1

Gotta be careful with Dysons… our V8 uses 20700 cells! Not 100% sure what's in the DC59 but you might be lucky.

      • +3

The DC59 uses 6 of the 18650s. The pack is really hard to get into, you need a set of spudgers and a thin stainless pry tool. There are quite a few tabs, and a tricky clear bit for the LEDs to get out of the way before you can get to the cells. Then you need to solder the new cells to the BMS circuit board. I'm about to do my DC59 pack with INR25r cells - my only concern is whether or not the BMS will fire back up when the cells are swapped. Might have to keep it alive during the transplant.

        • Thanks Stevesie76; sounds like it might be easier to buy a compatible 3rd party battery.

          • +1

@Master Bates: The genuine pack isn't toooo bad at $75ish.

            • @eug: We scored one of the V10's from the ebay Plus special; the DC59 is a backup machine so I don't want to spend $75 on it.

Note the lack of balance leads!

Thanks for posting this OP.. keen to see what Bunnings does as I need a decent mower!

    • +2

haha same. Wouldnt mind th Ozito pole saw. RRP for the Ozito skin is $149 and the Aldi one is $99.

      • This comes with the pruner and hedge attachment so even better

  • How does the mower compare with Ozito 1500w mower https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-1500w-360mm-lawn-mower_p33…
Tempted to just go with the Ozito for the 3 year warranty.

    • That mower is electric, the Aldi one is battery powered. Not really comparable, but I would definitely go a cordless over a corded.

      • You're right didnt see it was corded. The Aldi model looks like a great deal.

        • Yeah looks pretty decent - as noted above, will be interesting to see if Bunnings drop the price on something similar (like they usually do), as there doesnt seem to be any similar Ozito models (brushless/36-40v).

I found a few x-finity batteries half price and bought one to tear apart the 4Amp hour battery. It uses 10 samsung 18650 20r cells. 2 sets of 5 cells in series then joined parallel.

Not the largest cells only 2000mah each but they handle high current well they actually gain capacity the harder they are pushed (heats the cell up creating more energy).

    • Free energy, yay!

    • Just cracked an Aldi pack, had Samsung 20Q

    • Hmm…wonder how much each samsung cell goes for on eBay…is there an arbratrage opportunity?

  • +1

Just a heads-up which may or may not be timely. There's a guy on Gumtree selling $25 adapters to use Aldi 20v Xfinity batteries on Ozito tools.

    • -1

      link ?

      • +1

        Gumtree Ad ID 1173757354

    • why not just buy ozito batteries?

    • You would have to be the ***** to use xfinity batteries on an ozito tool. By the time you factor in the adapter how much are you really saving?

  • Batteries are already available for $29.99 at my ALDI. I was actually hoping they would be cheaper like some other users in other states have indicated.

    • +1

The 20V 4.0AH batteries normally sell for $39.99.
We may now hopefully see some good deals on Ozito cordless lawnmowers by Bunnings.

      • +1

This https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-power-x-change-18v-cordles… looks like the closest offering from Bunnings.

The lawnmower from Aldi plus 2 batteries and 2 chargers would total $269 if my maths is correct.

Hopefully Bunnings will drop around the $250 mark for their kit.

      • Sorry I should have said the 4ah batteries are already $29.99

  • My concern with buying from Aldi is how easy will it be to find replacement blades for the cordless lawnmower? They will need to be replaced after a few years depending on usage.

    • If it lasts that long.

    • +4

When it comes to power tool I went with Ozito a long time ago so these deals are good for bunning to price match. That said to answer your question Aldi's replacement policy is amazing. I have a power washer that started to leak at the gun after two years. I took it back to see if they could get a replacement part and they gave me a full refund on the spot.

Most of their powertools range come with 5-year replacement warranty as does Ozito.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • Got a 20V Battery 4.0AH for $29.99 from Aldi Brandon Park last weekend. Had a stack in the glass case.

  • CONFIRMED. Marion SA has priced matched all of aldi stuff.

Pity I already have the grinder and recipro saw

  • Looking forward to seeing an Ozito price match on the Reciprocating Saw skin when I pop in on the weekend.

  • I got the aldi brushless mower last time
    It’s ok for my yard
Not as powerful as a petty one
But no smell and much quieter
    Plus free solar charging

Check the old thred here from the prev sale

It’s actually a rebadge of another brand which sellsfrom eBay so you can actually buy the 40v battery from them however it’s a sheite tone more

The Aldi one comes with an adapter that fits the two Aldi batteries

  • Pity they aren't selling the 21 inch cordless mower that German Aldi sells.

  • Thanks for posting. Just got back from Bunnings after they dropped prices on same stock. Bought an Ozito Power X reciprocating saw for $39.89 + a 4.0Ah Power X battery for $29.89 :-)

The Ozito Power X angle grinder was also reduced, but I already own 2 corded ones, as well as the drill.

    5 year replacement warranty…

  • Bought four Ozito batteries this afternoon from Bunnings. They'll be hard to find soon.

  • Aldi tools have a 5 year warranty. I just wish they offered cordless multitool and I wish they had another deal on brushless drill drivers (I seem to remember they had these last year)

  • Hey guys, bought 2 of these, both were at 98%, decided to fully charge, first one was charging 14 hours later its still at 99%? but when i take it out of charge it says 100% on the meter. Putting it back in charge drops it down to 99% and charges it

    Is this what usually happens?

Edit: called the support number on the back of the battery which I saw while inspecting it, they said it was usual.
