      • I'd imagine the donation will count. The partners are what it's referring to, so they want you to click through the estore(which is not a store at all) and earn velocity points. Starlight is part of the estore so this should be fine. I might do the same thing.

        • yeah it's a good cause, far better than buying a nail filer i reckon just for the sake of making the $1 haha.

i purchased via the estore after logging in and did not see it show up in my transaction history. hopefully it shows up within th enext 24 hrs as it mentions… being a charity i presume the cookie/confirmation process is slower than a behemoth like ebay which deals with this referral process often.

          • +1

@SaberX: Please report back, did the donation work ?

  • How would you earn points with flybuys? Just linking accounts and spending, or do you need to transfer points?

  • +2

It seems that one of the department stores on the estore is ebay. So you can just buy an item on ebay and tick that one off the list.

    • Thanks for the tip

    • Maximum purchase value of AU$2525 is applicable for all purchases on eBay (FYI!)

    • +1

Is that similar to the Qantas Mall or Cashrewards where you start your journey with Velocity, click on the eBay link and your purchase gets linked back to your Velocity account?

      • Yep

        • +1

If your clever you go from velocity to ebay then cashrewards, coupons, Flybuys registered, discount giftcard checkout somewhere along the way Amex points

          • +2

            @Geoff897: *you're

          • +1

@Geoff897: Wouldn't the tracking from cashrewards cancel out the tracking from the e-store?

            • @whichtyler: I haven't had any issues yet. If you did you could lodge a appeal with velocity.

  • +1

Don't forget Apple is 6 Points per $1 spent 23 November – 26 November, if you were actually in the market for throwing some big cash around on the eStore.

  • +1

David Jones is 8 Points per $1 spent till 23 Dec

  • Thanks

  • Sorry please delete - answered above

  • Do autobarn ever do free shipping sales? The closest one to me is not really very convenient.

Otherwise i'll just cough up the $10 shipping.

  • +3

Great timing. My car insurance is expiring next month. Saved $30/month with Virgin Car Insurance (1 product), transferred 2000 flybuys to Velocity (2nd Product), need to fill Diesel in my car on the way home at BP (3rd Product). will buy a tyre shine at Autobarn (4th) and wine stock was running out so bought Virgin wines (5th) which also comes with 3000 bonus points. Awesome!!

    • +1

Virgin Car Insurance isn't one of the listed partners.

Participating Partners include flybuys, BP Fuel, Velocity eStore, Midas, Autobarn, Wilson Parking, Sendle, Virgin Wines, Onsport and Skybus.

      • Thanks for clarifying. I checked and yes you are right. will have to use Wilson parking i guess.
Edit: I remember i signed up because they were offering 20,000 points

    • hey mate, i was wondering what sort of experience you've had with virgin car insurance? Have you had to make claims and were they easy to deal with? interested in using them but haven't seen much about them online. cheers

      • +1

My first time trying them out. But i have couple family members using them for couple years and no bad words from them.

        • cheers, ill give them a go too then. They're only $20 more than budget direct and i get a bonus 20k points too

  • +1

This must be one of the more confusing promos I've come across. The word 'partner' doesn't help here either. How is the Velocity eStore supposed to be a partner of Velocity, it's the same brand! I assume only 1 purchase from (via?) the eStore would count, so if you buy from eBay and DJs via the eStore, it will only count as 1 (of the 5) for this 10k promo?

    • +2

      Under T&C's

"Purchases made from multiple retailers within the Velocity eStore will only be counted as one (1) Participating Partner"

      • That's pretty clear then, thanks!

    • I agree, I don't find it super intuitive. I also never think of using my velocity card in-store so that's kind of a novelty for me.

      • Especially since they recently started to do this Velocity Shop Local earn thing through Visa cards as well (which I have ironically linked to a Qantas earning Visa card). I wonder if ordering a coffee at my local cafe with my linked Visa will also count as one purchase for this promo.

  • +2

There is a Gold Coast theme Park transfer for $9 with SkyBus with 3 month validity, I guess you could buy that and not use it.

    • Or buy an airport transfer and sell it for under its value.

  • What does 10,000 points get you?

    • One way Melbourne to Sydney with almost all taxes paid, or nearly one way Melbourne to Brisbane without taxes.

  • +21

Here is what I will do:

    • Go to Autobarn and spend minimum amount in store ($1?), show card
    • Click through Velocity eStore, click through to starlight, donate $1
    • Make my next petrol fill-up at BP, show Velocity card (maybe cost $5 more than elsewhere?)
    • Book a carpark at Wilson Parking Adelaide "Park on Franklin Car Park" for $5.50 and not turn up
    • Transfer 2000 flybuys points across to get 870 Velocity Points

    Then:
    * After 10,000 points are added I will redeem $50 Event Cinema gift card for 9,900 points

Total cost: about $12.50 + 2000 flybuy points
Total received: $50 Event Cinemas card + 880 flybuy points

    • +1

Flybuys transfer before 30/11,gives 15% bonus points,so you will get 1000 velocity points.

Just fill-up 10 dollar petrol, then extra cost may reduce to 1 dollar.

Thus the total cost can reduce 4 dollars and total receiving will add another 130 velocity points.

      • +1

forget bp or wilson parking if you use evelocity stores and buy kogan 0.99 plan

        • +2

I used the Velocity eStore to do the starlight donation… using the eStore twice won't count.

        • Was the 99c kogan plan spend enough to be eligible as a qualifying spend,or does it have to be $1 or more?

      • I just xfer 2000 from flybuy but it shows as 870 pts, does virgin add back the 15% extra?

        • It should show up as 870 plus 131 underneath that as a separate transaction.

    • True OZBargainer!

    • starlight keeps hanging up on me when I try to pay. even tried different browsers :(

    • +3

Why not spend $2 at starlight and get a tax deduction? Then they get an extra dollar and it only costs you about 30-40 cents.

    • I dont have the actual velocity card. Can i just show my online account?

      • I added my velocity to Google pay so I'm going to try that.

    • Instead of: Total received: $50 Event Cinemas card + 880 flybuy points

I think you mean: Total received: $50 Event Cinemas card + 1001 velocity points

The 1001 velocity points = 870 velocity points from the 2000 flybuys points transfer + 131 bonus points due to the 15% transfer bonus in November. I just did this transfer and this was exactly what I received.

    • Donate $2 at Starlight so it is tax deductible.

  • Could you just buy like a chocolate bar or something at BP?

And with Skybus, do you earn the points when you buy the tickets or when you actually use them? Skybus tickets are valid for three months from date of purchase, and I'll be flying into Melbourne in February…

    • +1

According to the Velocity website, yes you could just buy a chocolate "Swipe your Velocity card at BP and you'll earn 2 Velocity Points per litre and 2 Velocity Points per $1 spent in-store"

    • +3

And with Skybus, do you earn the points when you buy the tickets or when you actually use them? Skybus tickets are valid for three months from date of purchase, and I'll be flying into Melbourne in February…

      When you buy them

    • you get it when you buy it, usually a few days after.

  • +2

don't forget the amex offer for virgin wines, spend $150, get $50 back.

  • +2

onsport sell egift cards for $10. Since we are a family of 5, would it work for each of us to buy one gift card and then spend them on something for $50 which is the minimum spend for free shipping? It is going to be tricky to get the 10,000 points for all 5 of us.

  • Any way to tell the offer has been activated? I click on Activate Offer and it just goes back to my summary page. The Activate Offer button is still available under my offers.

NVM - its under Activated Offers

  • +6

and dont forget to do this for the whole fam to get extra 10k each person :)

    • If you have kids younger than 16, then Flybuys is a no-go for them. You cannot register a flybuys account for kids under the age of 16, and they do validate that the date of birth matches when transferring from flybuys into velocity, therefore you cannot use this method. So will have to find a different partner for the kids.

  • anyone found anything cheap online on AutoBarn that is click and collect for anywhere(But I won't go, so needs to be cheap!)

Can't find a postcode where these are click and collect https://www.autobarn.com.au/ac62746

  • Hmm… might be the ozbargainer in me….

Could you… buy said items (eg bucket, choc bar)…. then return said product…

    • +1

donation to starlight of $2 or more, makes it tax deductible, I donated $10 so my accountant didn't think I was doing a troll donation

    • +1

Your accountant doesnt like you donating trolls or is too lazy to process a $2 tax deduction?:)

  • Can I link my velocity card to my partner’s flybuys account and transfer 2000pts (we only have one Flybuys card which is under my partner’s name)?

    • create a second flybuys account

  • I am went to starlight website through velocity estore, do I still have to enter my velocity detail on starlight website to be able to earn velocity points? Thanks.

Adelaide East End has never seen so many bookings.

        LOL

I booked a car space for an hour later tonight ;)

And heck, I live in Sydney LOL

  • I'm confused about the Flybuys bit. Is it spend or MUST be transfer ?

  • Is anyone else having issues logging into the Velocity site? When I click log in it doesn't do anything except redirect me back to the main page, and if I click Join Now -> existing log in, it takes me to the portal but sits forever on "retrieving details". Tried on multiple browsers and devices.

    • Tried on 4G, worked fine.

Something local is causing the issue.

  • +3

I just got a call from auto barn. they are trying to cancel click and collect orders bc they are getting too many orders and its too much work. be careful i guess?

    • Ordered a bucket this morning, now awaiting collection.

      • Just ordered the bucket. Received confirmation email. Will pickup if I am ever in the area.

    • haha. I didn't put my real number, surely they should have seen this coming.

      • +2

Dont think that will matter i ordered sand paper last night , and my order says "on hold" now when i login, Think they are on to this, but i doubt they have a leg to stand on with Virgin, i cant see how they cant honor it.

    • Lol

      • +1

My bucket sadly got cancelled. They said they won't accept any amount less the $30 dollars for click and collect.

I asked them to hold the bucket for me :)

        • lol

How do I check whether Velocity actually logged a qualifying spend for the promotion? I bought something from Autobarn online, but I'm not sure that it recorded my Velocity membership details properly, because when I checked my Autobarn account details, the Velocity fields were empty so I had to insert again just in case.

    • there was a section on the order to add your velocity details.

      • Yeh, I'm sure I filled that out, but when I checked my Autobarn account, like I said above, the Velocity fields were empty so now I'm not so sure

        • Exactly my experience (as I posted above)
