Stanley 44 Piece 1/4" Metric / A/F Drive Socket Set $29.98 @ Bunnings

1310

Well I won’t bore you with the detail of this set since there was a post about it a week ago but it seems Bunnings just down the price to $29.85. Not sure it’s a price error or not, feel like a steal at this price.

I just ordered one online it did say was on special order but 100% let me completed the order. So happy days!

Will this do what the https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/419689 this one will do? Sorry tool noob here. Just look for a set for a rainy day at home.

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

Designed for 2 different applications but there is crossover. There are many places that a socket (sometimes with extension bar) will get that a spanner (even a ratcheting one) will not.

  • Got one thanks!

Still waiting for my order from the last deal when it was $45.

    • Do you think they will refund the difference ?

      • +1

Don't know. I just ordered it again and will return the old order when it comes for a refund.

If I had my old order already then I wouldn't have bothered.

      • +2

Refunded the difference just now. They were really quick and really polite about it.

        • How did you go about seeking the refund? Did you go into store and simoly exolain the scenario? I'm still waiting in mine from the orevious deal. Glad to hear you got a refund.

          • +1

@itsTricky83: You can ring the 1800 number and ask to get your order adjusted to the new price, they'll issue a refund for the difference.

          • @itsTricky83: All your P's have been turned into O's!

            • @pjetson: Dunno what has gotten into my Android keyboard of late. Oops!

  • Just in time! Thanks bro

  • +1

    How do you order online?

    • Bunnings now deliver.

      • +1

Just not to everywhere. The nearest point they'll deliver to me is 600km away.

  • +1

Haven't bought tools in years. Anyone with this able to comment on quality? Is this kinda stuff all ex China now?

    • Who's the idiot negging a genuine question? Show yourself, idiot.

    • +1

Not sure but safe to assume it's made in china

    • stanley own sidchrome and many other brands and this set is cr-v steel …..doubt they change alloys between sidcrome and stanley and both are cr-v.

could be china could be taiwan ….stanley is one of the largest global tool makers and protect their brand as they also do screwdrivers planes ( woold not passenger) etc.

  • +1

ordered at both prices. will return the expensive one. Thanks OP

    • +2

I feel like I am doubling down. Every time the price drops, buy another.

      • +2

same …. covered for the global apocalypse when i enter the shelter …. hate to not have 10 and 12 mm sockets in the. bunker.

        • You probably wouldn’t survive without those two particularly.

I’m using mine to build my bunker

  • +2

Sydney Tools have it for a few cents more, thats probably why Bunnings lowered it.

    • Yep so you can't price beat. Although not sure how bunnings goes for online store price beats.

      • They do, they started to pricematch amazon au (sold by amazon ones) too a couple of months ago.

  • +7

I ordered them when the last deal was posted but they haven't turned up yet. Called Bunnings and they refunded the difference.

    • +3

That's a smart way to do it. Called up the 1800 number & got the difference refunded & cancelled the new order.

      Way easier. Thank you

  • Awesome find. Thank you

  • Just ordered … thanks OP

  • Deep sockets. Handy.

  • +2

    Pretty Good Robin Hood!

  • Been needing a new set for a while. Thanks op!

  • I've already got a no branded 3/8 socket set, will this be a good complement?

    • +1

If your 3/8ths has deep sockets, don't bother. If not, deeps can be useful.

  • Thanks Op! Great savings. Currently on sale for $61 in SCA https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/stanley-stanley-socket-s…

    • And that's on clearance.

ANyone still waiting for their confirmation email? Ordered one about 30 mins ago, still no sight of it..

    • Same here

      • Received a confirmation email straight away.

But by the sound of it they’re still waiting for a shipment to come in.

Waited a week & the original order still hadn’t come into warehouse.

    • Same here. No confirmation email. I accidentally closed the browser, so I lost the order number as well…

    • Same! I went for pickup too.

    • Just looked and it took just over an hour and a half for my order confirmation to come through. Account creation email (which was when I ordered) was at 1:30pm, order confirmation received at 3:12pm.

      • Yep. Just came through

    • Got my confirmation email about 1 hour or so after ordering, hoping there won’t be a cancellation email tomorrow..

  • +1

Sorry for the basic question. Are these tools mainly for cars and bikes?

    • +1

mainly for bikes and light car stuff, most car need a 3/8” set so you get the bigger sockets.

  • Thanks OP just ordered. Been wanting a 1/4" drive set, and this should do nicely. Good job.

  • Thanks OP! Nearly pulled the trigger on the last deal but didn’t bother. Trigger now pulled 👍🏻

  • Bought this And the ratchet spanner set from Amazon another bargain.

  • I ordered, but didn't receive a confirmation email. Is that normal for Bunnings web orders?

  • Thanks, ordered one.

  • i still have on on back order from when they were $49 ……grabbed another one …..always loosing 10, 12, 13 mm and 1/2”.

i have a set and they are great quality ….wish they did 3/8” set on special.

  • +2

Sydney Tools has it for the same price as well.

A legit OzB'ner wld not entertain the 10 cent price difference :)

Just ordered one from Bunnings :)

  • I want to buy one for this price and add to my existing tools.. But don't even know what these could be used for(apart from bikes and car as mentioned above), as haven't needed one yet.
Trying to future proof my need for these!!!

  • Thanks op, have gone through a few cheap china sets, hopefully these last!

  • Have a few of the smaller sets at work, 10+ years now. Sockets are all fine but a few of the ratchets started to slip on some of them. Stanley used to have lifetime warranty, eventually after trying to get them ordered in through Bunnings the tool shop guy there just gave us kinchrome ratchets which also fit in the case.

Overall decent set considering the punishment we have given them over the years. Hopefully this set is the same quality, bought one for home use that I don’t really need but future proofing. Deep sockets in a cheaper set like this is awesome!

  • Can this be used for car spark plug?

  • link is no longer working?

    • +3

Probably either sold out or they got sick of everyone calling up and getting refunds on their existing orders from last week.

  • +1

Ordered, my deep socket fantasies will now be fulfilled! Thanks OP!

  • +1

Looks like they took it down

    • And cancellation emails on Monday.

      • Maybe. I've sent customer service an email to see if they can reimburse the difference from last week's price. It's a long shot.

        • You might have trouble with that now - when I called up they had to double check their website to confirm the price before agreeing to refund the difference. Not sure what they'll do with no product listing available.

    • +2
      • This worth a new deal of its own since this bunnings deal is now gone and likely to be price error?

        • Don't think it was a price error, they were matching the Sydney Tools price.

  • Thanks OP. Great deal especially since Bunnings sells the 1/4" Drive Reversible Ratchet alone for $39.00.

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/stanley-1-4-drive-reversible-rat…

  • Looks like it has been removed.

  • Link no longer working and searching the website there are no 44 piece Stanley socket sets in their catalogue.

    • Product listing is back now… at full price.

  • Oh have to see if I get mine…. this is my first online order from bunnings.

  • Comment removed…..

  • Has anyone actually received a pickup email yet?

    • Still waiting from the 15th.

    • After the confirmation email, nothing. Their site is kinda weird too. I've just tried to log in to my account and see if the order is processing, but they don't have 'My Orders' section or a section where you can check your purchase history.

      • +1

Pretty poor form if Bunnings reneges on the deal.

Hands up all those that wished they bought from Sydney Tools instead, as they were selling the same set at the time for just 10c more. Now its back up to $69.90

    • Still waiting.

  • They happily refunded the difference since I had put two orders through. One at $45 and another at $30. I will keep both orders as long as they don't renege!

  • +1

For those wondering about ETA check your customer order form that came with confirmation email for delivery date. Mine shows 3/12 for local store pick up

    • You're right, the 'order' attachment file has the same date as yours for transport reference number or something.

    • Mine said the 26th… Still waiting.

Fairly sure they just add 7 working days onto the date of ordering, it's not an actual ETA. Have had stuff turn up days early in the past.

  • I received my email for pickup and when I went to get it last night, it was a box of sanding sheets for a Black and Decker sander!! She called the supplier and confirmed they made a mistake and that they are out of stock. I was livid so she said she'd keep the order open and contact the supplier in a couple of weeks to see if they get anymore :(

  • I called Bunnings today and they confirmed that they ran out of stock of this item and although some orders were fulfilled, the majority were not. The ETA is currently Jan 2019, yet that may change.

There will be an option for customers to: be reimbursed, or be offered an alternative equivalent product, or wait until the new year for the correct item. Hope this helps.

    • That's a shame. Thought Xmas was sorted

  • +3

Received the email below today. RRP of the replacement is $105. I accepted the offer.

"Thank you for recently placing your online order with Bunnings for a Stanley 44 piece socket set. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen high demand this item is unavailable. As a substitute we would like to offer a Stanley 42 piece socket set with a superior 3/8” drive at no additional cost. See attached a comparison of the product ordered and the replacement offered."

    • I got the same upgrade offered it was a hard decision but I accepted.

    • Just came here to see if anyone else got the substitute offer. I'm thinking I'll accept - although I'm pretty well off for the larger sizes in the alternative. Sweet Christmas gift if nothing else.

    • Same here and I accepted replacement offer
