K.S COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY will be the the tax invoice issuer.

    • +1

      Before someone asks lol

    • Has anyone got the tax invoice from shopping express for the purchase (last ebay deal), they haven't sent me the tax invoice. thanks

      • +3

Yes. They send it when it has been shipped. Check your spam folder.

        • +3

Thank you very much, yes it was in the spam folder

          • @Boogi: No worries. Mine came through fine but seems to be a problem for people if they’re using gmail.

            • @Nousernamehere: Sorry, me again, I fixed my SSD (1TB 860) yesterday and Samsung Magician software doesn't recognise it as a genuine Samsung SSD, (my old Samsung 250GB one is recognised), Has anyone experienced similar issue. Thank you

              • @Boogi: I’m still waiting for mine to be delivered so can’t help you with that. Strange that it doesn’t recognise it as being genuine, do you have the latest version of Samsung Magician installed (from their website)?

I really don’t see them selling ‘fake’ drives at all. Not when they’re an authorised reseller.

                • @Nousernamehere: I have the version 5.1.0 installed and it says it is the latest, however I can't download any software from Samsung site since yesterday
you will get this page error https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/notice/
(glad that I managed to download the Samsung data migration software day before to clone the drive)

                  • @Boogi: Hopefully get mine early next week and will report back. Although no one else has commented the same as you so could just be an isolated software bug.

      • What price do they put on the invoice - pre or post 20% coupon price?

    • +1

I received my invoice and it is Shopping Express and ABN is Not K.S Computer. But how ever in the Redeem page, there is an Retailer list as Shopping Express.

      • They must have just added them to the list because they weren't on it earlier today

      • Same here, shows as Shopping Express Pty Ltd on the tax invoice. I'm hoping it won't be an issue for the redemption.

edit: yes it does have a separate entry for Shopping Express on the redemption page so shouldn't be a problem.

    • My tax invoice is showing Shopping Express Pty Ltd

  • Looks like $15 postage for me.

  • I'm getting i/o error when i try to initialize the ssd i have just purchased. Has anyone experienced that?I'm wondering if I've received a faulty one

    • Are you using Samsung's data migration software? I had an I/O error via Samsung's software. Issue was resolved after using Macrium Reflect free software.

      • I tried pretty much everything. Windows disk management couldn't create volume, data migration gave me an error. Macrium reflect showed the drive as read only. I did use a sata usb adapter..could that be the problem?

    • Could be your SATA controller too. Some older AMD controllers are known to have this issue with Samsung SSD under Windows 10. I had to RMA my EVO last month due to excessive CRC errors. Pity.

      • I was using ssd usb adapter i bought from aliexpress. Have tried on 3 different laptops, didn't work still. I guess it was the cable? Did you get your one replaced? How's the new one?

      • How did you know about CRC errors?

  • Out of curiosity, is 1TB needed for SSD or can one get away with 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD?

    • +5

Depends on your use case. 120GB is basically the bare minimum for OS and some applications.

    • If you load large applications like AAA games a 1TB SSD would be better.

      • Is it true if we play music & video from SSD frequently will damage the SSD (in external enclosure)?

        • +1

No, reads are practically free in terms of wear.

Constant writes cause degradation over time.

          • +4

@Shwayne: All this focus on memory wear on the internets.. IMHO, the drive controller will fail far before the memory ever will.

            • +1

              @justtoreply:

the drive controller will fail far before the memory ever will.

Well no, memory in SSDs does actually wear out but consumers typically don't get close to this because they aren't constantly overwriting the entire disk.

        • +3

If you're using a drive ONLY for music and video an SSD isn't really worth it because they're typically sustained reads which spinning disks are really good at anyway. SSDs do really really well when reading lots of small files such as exist in games and other software (as well as large galleries of photos / databases / general windows / linux / macos operations etc).

Normal users won't do enough writes to these to cause issues (Samsung's drives are pretty good). You need to be doing something like running large databases / using them as a cache drive in a NAS or editing video off them to really thrash them.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Agreed. Media playback doesn't even get close to slow HDD speeds.

    • +1

120gb SSD sucks tbh. Can barely fit anything on it so it feels like a hinderance (although it obvs boosts performance)

    • Get 240 or 500 gig. They're the sweet spot for usability and affordability. Much larger is only worth buying now if you know you will use it, otherwise you're best waiting a year and getting a secondary SSD for less.

120 gig is a bit too restrictive once your OS and basic applications are installed.

      • Without the cashback I’d agree with you, but the 1TB is a no brainer at this price.

        500GB - $149 x 0.8 = $119.20 - $15 = $104.20 / 500 = 0.21c/GB
        1000GB - $249 x 0.8 = 199.20 - $45 = $154.20 / 1000 = 0.15c/GB

If going on the 500GB price/GB, it would cost you $208.40 to get the equivalent 1TB capacity.

I’m replacing 2x250GB drives in one of my PC’s with the 1TB and putting them into my other PC. Having to change around games with smaller drives (and try and leave 10% or so spare capacity for wear levelling) really is a pain. Again, if it wasn’t for the cashback offer the 500GB would be my first choice as well.

        • Fair enough. If you have a way to fill the drive, then it's definitely the better value.

    • I've currently got a 120G SSD for my system drive - and it's got very little space left. Most games now store save games, mods etc all in your "home" directory in C:/users plus Windows 10 can be a bit space hungry. That's the reason I'm getting the 1TB SSD (plus will be able to put a couple of games on there to speed them up a bit).

  • +1

Sorry may be a noob question, will this help speed up my Macbook Pro (Early 2011) Model, if i replace my current 320GB HDD with this SDD?

    • +3

Yep the performance will be night and day. I own a 2012 15" macbook pro (last of the fat model) and went from the factory 500gb hdd to a 250gb Samsung 850 Evo and couldn't believe the difference. Regardless of what you use the computer for, you'll appreciate the performance differential I'm sure of it.

Generally, your applications will open much faster (iTunes more or less straight away) and your general computer browsing experience will be much snappier.

      • You can upgrade MacBook pro with sata SSD? Is this for old devices only?

        • The upgrade is for the 'MID 2012 Model' and earlier (ones with DVD drive) they use standard SATA HDD's and it makes a world of difference.
I have a 2008 MacBook with a SSD installed and it boots in 8 seconds.. this is a 10 year old machine!

          • @Nach0: I'm guessing it doesn't work anymore for newer models then? I have 2015 MacBook pro, its alright but upgrading to ssd would be great

            • @Nick K: Correct, you can not upgrade the disk in a 2015 MacBook Pro. The SSD chips are soldered directly to the motherboard I believe

    • +1

I'd say yes. SSD's are way faster than HDD's. Just need to make sure they both use the same interface (which should be SATA). Good luck!

    • +5

Picture this for your Macbook: being able to restart your laptop FOR FUN … instead of booting for 5 minutes.

    • +3

Massively! You'll also get marginally better battery life.

      • +2

Yep, and no clicking/spin up noises, and no risk of read consistency fails if the laptop has a violent tumble!

      • +1

less heat generated by SSD compared to HDD, so laptop fans doesn't have to work as hard

    • Thanks everyone for the responses. Will definitely be pulling the trigger now haha

  • +1

Any detail on how to redem buying from this seller please.
I'm getting stuck at the proof of purchase and its number because there is no such proof except information from Ebay. There is not even a number order from ebay…

    • Samsung/Shopping Express could reject their own promo like the previous “Assassin's Creed Odyssey Game” promo!

    • +3

You can't redeem until you receive the item, first you need the invoice that is sent to you once the item is shipped, then I believe you need a photo of the product.

      • I received the ssd already. There's no invoice anywhere. I've just contacted them for that, but I think the invoice should be sent automatically not me asking for it.

        • +1

It will be in your spam folder, I got mine after I search my spam folder, it is not even in the promotion folder, I use gmail.

        • +1

they send a PDF to your email with the subject "Your Shopping Express order has now been dispatched and your tax invoice attached"

  • Good deal but be careful with Shopping Express as I didn’t have a good experience with Shopping Express during the last promo “Assassin's Creed Odyssey”…and seem like there are a few of us.

    • What exactly happened? What was their stance to reject it ?

  • I bought a 500GB SSD for my OS and other apps (they don't have the 250GB anymore).. Should I go for dual SSD's and get a 1TB for my other apps? Or just an HDD?

    • I'd get SSD's for anything that isn't storing or downloading stuff.

Pretty sure the 250GB drive in this range is slower than 500 and up.

      • Okay thanks… so basically you're saying just don't get an SSD for storing my games (in the future) and instead, get an HDD as well?

        • +2

I think you should install Games, apps and OS to SSD to get best performance. Personal data, music, movies, program, or game setup files should be okay in HDD.

          • @poseidon1989: Okay thanks guys. Any recommendations for an HDD? I've been seeing Seagate, WD - i don't know which ones good cause I'm still new to this!

          • @poseidon1989: For storing music, movies etc the best option is probably a cheap external drive - then it's portable as well.

  • I'm trying to do the cashback redemption right now. Is the Proof of Purchase Number the invoice number?

    • YEP!

      • Alright thanks :)

        • Where is the invoice mate? I dont see it anywhere

          • @Sonca: They email it to you when your order has been dispatched. It might be in your spam folder.

  • I got my ssd and when I go to the Samsung redeem page, in the Retailer drop down list, there is KS Computer and Shopping Express as well. So what I should choose? I don't want to mess up my $45!

    • +1

Just match it with the store name and ABN found on your invoice.

      • -1

So you mean I should choose Shopping Express from the Retailer list?

        • +1

Yes, I had to email them though to get them to send a proper invoice which shows the ABN for Shopping Express that is on the retailer list.

          • @KingJuf: Thank you so much

          • @KingJuf: I went to the final step, before click on submit, i look again at the retailer list…no shopping express, neither their ABN

            • @Sonca: I just went to it and I can still see Shopping Express there, mind you I have not submitted my claim yet as I havent received my SSD.
              https://imgur.com/gallery/LbemHNV

              • @KingJuf: I know that. From the 1st page we can see shopping Express. Yes. But just as above said, I copy paste the list right before clicking confirm and dont see them here.

I dont know. Anyway I confirm to submit already.

                • @Sonca: Well they were not on the first page previously so perhaps samsung have not updated it on both pages.

    • Didn’t know there is shopping express option, but i pick k.s computer as the retailer, confusing
      Lets see how its goes…

      • Must have been recently added but shouldnt matter.

  • So the final price after redemption is near 150 $ ? M i right ?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Thanks man … Finally I can smell the SSD coming to my vaio …

  • I wish the 25% off deal could be applied to this. But it’s capped at AU $137, bugger.

Ah f*** it’s out of stock, grrr

    • Whats tht 25% deal ?

      • +1

oh my bad, shopping express is ebay AU. 25% for ebay US

  • +2

    Back in stock guys.

Ordered. Still had 2 x $100 Gift Card (One purchased for $95 and the other for $90).
    $199.20 - $15 (coupon) - $45 (promo) = $139.20.

Now I hope a better deal isn't around the corner…

    • what are the other two coupons

    • What's the two coupons?

      • +1

the original posting here shows you can get an extra 5% off if you use gift cards, so you get 2x $100 giftcards then use them to purchase this drive and get an extra 5% off

    • Out of stock again so quickly

  • still shows $249 for me, wtf

    • Have you apply the discount code?

      • wait, i get it…duhhh…
        $249 minus 20% ($49.8) minus 5% gift card minus 5% gift card minus $45 cashback…
        yup ok.
farout, it is SO tempting to upgrade RAM and MOBO and PSU and GPU and CPU and everything, *#$^@%$&^@%#$&%@#$&^

        • Do it you owe it to yourself

  • Damn it man.

You made me buy a whole new computer.

  • Any point purchasing for use in 6 months. SSD prices constantly dropping but this is really cheap!!!!

    • I presume it's due to SATA SSD basically being superceded by m.2 and the like, as happened with the mechanical HDD with SATA SDD.

      • not all motherboards have M.2 connector, and if you do have M.2 does it support SATA or NVME ?

the 2.5" market is the mass market still for upgrades, M.2 is newer laptops and mother boards.

M.2 NVME is the way to go, but need newer laptop or mother board and so lower volumes and so still cost a bit more.
