    • Hoping for a surprise 15% off for Plus members tomorrow!
Better not hold my breath though. At this point, I certainly won’t be renewing when my membership expires.

    • 1 since I signed up in Sept and that was the reason I joined. Nada since. From memory one other purchase freight free. Perhaps the number of free trails has put them off?

  • +2

Wow I've been waiting for this deal all year! Couldn't ask for more on boxing day!

Can't wait for the 5% off with a minimum $1000 spend on ovine day myself. Pavlov would be proud.

Found something good taking into account the 10% off. Is it likely the seller will price-jack it by tomorrow? Or should it remain the same?

  • Tempted to get another AK Jr. Great little portable audio player.

    • People buy audio players in 2018?

      • +1

        Too crazy, right?

Peoples should stop buying DSLR or any other digital compact cameras too. Might as well dump their PC at home.

        :p

        • -1

The comparison is a bit silly as a DSLR does so many things better than a mobile phone camera. Try attaching a 300mm lens to a mobile phone, or finding a mobile phone with a sensor that goes anywhere near the sensitivity and low noise that a DSLR offers.

A dedicated audio player does not offer capabilities much beyond those achieved with a mobile phone and some decent software.

          • @Cluster: A dedicated audio player's battery can last a couple day at least. One of good example.

And more pros than cons. But hey that is your opinion and I have mine (& experience). :)

WTF! 30 Minutes ago I saw a Seagate Barracuda 2TB 2.5 hard disk for $119 at 'Computer Alliance' eBay store and now when I went to buy it, they've taken it off.

Had heard a lot of good things about CA here, but I guess they're no better than the rest when it comes to these things.

    • +11

If you mean the 2TB Seagate 2.5" 7mm SATA 6GB/s Barracuda HDD PN ST2000LM015 — out of stock, hence not on eBay.

  • Is postage still excluded with Ebay plus?

    • AFAIK Only for some items/sellers. They'll be marked as such.

      • Correct. Only for sellers who signed up to the program.

  • Thanks for the post. It's good to get a discount.

It's just a shame alot of companies are offering 5-10% on boxing day and people jizz all over it.

    • Is that better or worse the urinating all over them?

I got the same issue. Only 1 item over $300 in my cart. Tested a different item and it worked. But not on the item i want. It isn't in excluded list either. I emailed ebay support about it.

    • Yes, same issue.

It's not bad. HD screen (1366 x 768) kills it.

      • Excuse the dumb question but do laptops have any other provisions for hard drives? I dunno whether the 128gb ssd will cut it

        • +1

Depending on the laptop, some will have a 2.5 inch slot and a m.2 slot.

m.2 for your fast SSD and 2.5 inch for either regular large capacity drive or another SSD.

Went to the effort of finding enough items to bring my total to over $120, but couldn't get the code to work. Turns out you have to have under 10 items, and I had 14 items. What a ridiculous limitation - what difference does it make to eBay how many items I'm buying? 1 item or 100 items, it's the dollar value that matters.

Support weren't interested in making an exception even though I have eBay Plus.

    • +1

Didn’t realise eBay plus was supposed to give you exemptions from terms and conditions.
You should post that as a bargain.

    • Nope - just checked for you, it's still active : )

@tightarse can we get a read on when this expires? i'm bidding (or not) on a few auctions. thanks

  • Anyone else not able to checkout. I have UK / Us and Au accounts. All say, can't check out now. Try again later. Missing out on 15% everywhere. Filled my account 3 different times…frustrating

    • According to the T&Cs, this works only with items listed on eBay AU, so you shouldn't try it on US & UK eBay sites. And in case you have changed your details on eBay and PayPal yesterday for the UK/Germany eBay Gift Card deals, just make sure you fix that and see if that makes any difference.

      • Dodgy eBay is the answer!

Apparently you can only add 5 items from different sellers (not the 10 as advertised). Plus apparently you cant add items in different currencies (even when the item is being sold on eBay.com.au).

So I had to remove items/ do it in 2 lots of 5 items. But then was under the $120 spend, so couldnt use the promotion (and this was over the phone to a supervisor).

So I'll be sending that to AFCA as they where not adhering to their own t&cs.

Getting sick and tired wasting time with this deceitful advertising.

        • +1

I have UK / Us and Au accounts.

          Dodgy eBay is the answer!

So I'll be sending that to AFCA as they where not adhering to their own t&cs.

Don't forget to tell AFCA that you have UK and US eBay accounts with fake information to take advantage of sales. Even though that in itself is violating their t&cs.

        • Plus apparently you cant add items in different currencies (even when the item is being sold on eBay.com.au)

This doesn't necessarily make eBay dodgy. Because the way PayPal and Banking works , eBay can only process all the items of the same currency in a transaction. Even if there is no promotional code, it is this way. You can add all items of different currencies into the cart, but just can't pay for them (items with different currencies) all at once.

          eBay does state:

All monetary amounts specified in these terms and conditions are in Australian dollars (AUD)

I guess this means you can only purchase items in Australian (AU) currency.

          • @I Smell Pennies: The items list in AUD on ebay.com.au when you search for them. It's only at the checkout that they become USD. Therefore, the limitation/ issue is a construct of Ebay themselves.

But lets just say they can't check out everything at once. Then the promotion code should allow for the 2 checkouts.

I chose all items from Ebay.com.au, I had them all in one transaction ready to go, the total was above the minimum spend, and it was done in the required timeframe. But I wasn't eligible… definition of dodgy promotion to me.

            • @tunzafun001: Oh I see what you mean mate. Just make sure next time the item location is in Australia and that the listing is in fact in Australian Currency. Some listings are actually USD but you see AUD because ebay converts it automatically for you :)

  • Still working, just used it.
