You have the Samsung monitor at ‘was’ $219. Current price on MSY site from your link is $199.

    • +6

      comes from here though

I'd be more willing to bet that it's MSY doing MSY things, rather than the fault of the OP

mods (or whoever can change links): might be worth updating that OPs link with the PDF file listed above

    • I know. Thats what the email linked above said. TP-LINK (Archer VR300) AC1200 Wireless Dual Band VDSL/ADSL Modem Router with Gigabit Ports was also listed in the email for $195 save $24. Yet web site is currently showing $119. So didn't bother posting that. Unless there prices are wrong. My guess is they may jack up the prices on the modem and Samsung monitor tomorrow before applying the discount?

      • +1

Wasn’t shooting the messenger but prob post the PDF link as mentioned above.
Cheers for posting as I I’m on the look out for a monitor and most others have this for $219 as well.

  • Hmm. About 20tb usable space, on a RaidZ3, for $1k….. The tempt is real.

    • 20tb usable space? NAS? Whats this? Could you link please :)

      • Would probably have to build it yourself because I doubt that there's any cheap NAS that support 10 disks.

Edit: didn't realise these were 2.5" disks. Are there NAS that take laptop drives?

        • +1

I have a QNAP TS-431 & the drive trays can accommodate either a 2.5 or 3.5 drive. I imagine others would be similar?

        • +3

These drives have soldered on interface, not SATA.

          • @zealmax: Really?

            Well that counts me out.
            Thanks for the heads up.

I have an asus taichi board with 10sata running nas4free, for anyone wondering.

    • $400 for 10TB externals from Amazon with white label WD RED drives inside, which is only slightly more expensive and way better than a soldered USB connection.

For the parents to use when the kids are finally out of their hair ;)

    • parents use these for leverage when making their kids do chores .. eg no gaming for a week, or do X month of chores, get a new keyboard/headset :)

      • +3

        Even better now.
As a parent, you can take away the keycaps off the keyboard, and make them earn the keycaps back.

        One at a time.

Sure they can try game, but this way, they turn into rebellious touch-typists (because now they're typing on the switches themselves without any guidance).

  • BlackWidow Elite for 139! Wtf. See you tomorrow bb

    • Can we price match from jbhifi?

    • This looks like a great deal. I'm just wondering how those yellow switches compare to the cherry mx reds. I found that they're exactly the same except the actuation is 1.2mm for the razer yellows and 2mm for the cherry mx reds. Wish MSY would let me try it

      • Yeah I'm trying to decide which switch to get.

It's hard without trying one for a few hours.

      • Usually the packaging has the arrow keys 'open' from the packaging, so that you can press the keys. Don't think this would help, but at least you'll get a rough 'feel' and hear it's operation

      • Going to do some research now, we should all report back, I have a Blackwidow Stealth and I find that the orange keys aren't the quietest, but I don't think any mechanical keyboards really are, my biggest concern for the yellow switch tho is its actuation distance for typing, I may stick to orange keys just to be safe.

If Jb stock yellows, it may be worth buying from there then exchanging for orange after a few days use if they are no good.

        • First drawback - no macros, just the small 5 on the side are super handy, but also this has media keys.

  • No click and collect for the keyboard???

    • I just placed a click and collect order for the keyboard. You have to go to the MSY homepage and select “Order online and pick up from our branch)”.

  • Is this HD any good for general use to backup data, movies, photos etc ?

    • +8

That's pretty much the one thing it does, so yeah

    • +1

It can store videos too, and have the megabytes

  • Would price matching the hdd be an option here? or is there another of avoiding delivery fees. $12 for me makes the deal less of a bargain.

  • How is the monitor for gaming?

    • -2

Looks pretty mediocre, 5ms response time and only two ports for display. Might be okay for single player games where delay doesn't mean much but wouldn't use for anything like Overwatch or CSGO.

      • +1

5ms is typical for high end IPS, presumably the same for PLS.

      • hahaha only the absolute top end of competitve players need better than 5ms. 5 ms is excellent and just fine.

You get more latency from Aussie internet than the barely split second with this monitor refresh rate.

    • not > 120hz, shouldn't be called 'gaming'

  • No display port on that monitor

  • Went to JB and can confirm BlackWidow price match a day early. :D Happy to provide JB receipt for those who want to give it a go.

    • I tried earlier and the dude just seemed like an ass from the getgo so I didn’t get it I

      • I always try find staff who look like they know what they're talking about. The guy who price matched mine was so excited he reserved one for himself.

        • was so excited he reserved one for himself.

turns out Big Kev didn't pass away he's just hiding in plain sight
          jokes aside, nice work!

    • Cheers did the same at Coomera (QLD) had JB Hifi gift cards to use. Really wanted the yellow switch, but JB only have Green. Great price

  • guys, is the 3tb shuckable?
    thanks

    • The world is your oyster.

    • I believe the WD isn't

      • thanks mate

  • ELYSIUM Iron Mini (Mint) Portable Bluetooth Speaker with FM Radio) was $39 in October last year

  • Coming from a Corsair K65 with cherry red switches, any opinion on which of the three switches for Razer Blackwidow Elite to be more quiet?

    • Orange or green, but I think orange is more quiet (correct me if I’m wrong)

      • Green is loud and proud

      • Correction Green is the loudest and not designed with any noise reduction in mind.

Orange is designed to be quiet but is still quite loud.

Yellow is advertised to be quiet but I have no real knowledge of how loud they actually are.

        • +1

might as well post this so you can hear the differences https://www2.razer.com/au-en/razer-mechanical-switches

          • @phokingwhy: I would say from using them this is not an accurate representation, youtube reviews would be a much better source.

          • @phokingwhy:

Mechanical switches have always been superior for speed and accuracy, and before 2010, they were only used for typing – because they were made precisely for that purpose. Razer then made the radical decision to use mechanical switches for a gaming keyboard, and that birthed the world’s very first gaming mechanical keyboard, the Razer BlackWidow.

Lol didn't other brands come first before razer..?

Just picked up the Razer Keyboard <3 <3 <3

    • what keys did you go with?

      Plus any impressions or feedback?

      • +1

I know the question wasn't directed at me but here's my food for thought. I've played with all 3 extensively already
I ended up getting green anyway because essentially it's like a nicer version of cherry blues without being the obnoxiously loud that one is and lesser actuation force.

The razor yellow is linear switches so it feels a bit like the g900 Logitech if you've used it before. I bought that keyboard but absolutely hated it. There's no tactile feedback until the key bottoms out.

The green and yellow are similar but yellow is the quiet version. The best way I can describe it is like if you put in very thin o rings on the switches. I'm not sure if that helps but definitely green or yellow for typing.

        • how about the orange switch? is there any difference between orange and green apart from the 'click' sound?

          • @newkidontheblock: my comment was supposed to say:

            • @diazepam: I got the orange in the end. Love the tactile feedback without the clicky rattling noise.

Just been to JB Garden City QLD, wont price match and gave me a spiel on how MSY purchases arent covered by ACL :P

Maybe someone good looking will have better luck hehe. They only have Greens too, so does Oxley

  • Just wanted to know from fellow ozbargainers whether to go for WD Elements or WD My Passport? Which one would be better? What's the difference performance & reliability wise?

    • +1

Stick with the My Passport. Id say general reliability and build quality tends to be better. While working in retail I experienced more returns of the Elements drives compared to the Passports.

      • Thanks zeto87… will look for bargains for My Passport

  • I dont like how to oranges keys went OOS but were there yesterday.

    • +1

I checked this morning and was able to order the orange keyboard. I'm guessing a lot of people ordered this variant and hence why it's out of stock so quickly.

      • +1

I got my order cancelled. Boo

        • Same.. should have just paid for shipping instead of pick up

  • Just got the Razer Blackwidow Keyboard. I didn't like the green switches. I think they're too Loud and clunky.

  • thanks OP, got myself the 3tb hdd and 64gb!

  • +1

I picked up a few of the 3TB WD drives. Noticed just now though that Officeworks have the 3TB Seagate for $99 each…

    • WD better anyway. I bought one and I'm getting pretty decent performance from the drive. 108mb/s write and about 130mb/sec read.

  • Was just at the Balcatta MSY and they told me the keyboard is out of stock. Anyway, bought the 64GB USB thanks!

  • OOS now for all the keyboards. Kicking myself for having a busy day at work. How much was shipping on these bad boys?

    • Likewise, stuck working straight through lunch. Maybe I'll try a JB price match..

      • Sold out or back to $299

      • I tried and the answer I got was 'there are only 20 units of this kb in stock throughout Australia'. None in store in Newcastle. Wasn't able to price match as a result of the OOS.

        • My local JB said no go, they 'cannot price match stores from another state' and that MSY could 'possibly selling this in Grey'. Annoyed!

          • @lordra: Yea man, JB just dont want to let go of that sweet sweet $150 markup

  • Anyone got a receipt for a Orange or Yellow switch keyboard at all?

    • +1

I got the tax invoice when i picked the orange switch keyboard from the store

      • Could you share it so that we can price match in JB?

        • +1

          here you go buddy http://imgur.com/18INDeS

        • Let me know how you go. Their policy says that it needs to be in stock or else they won't match it. Will be nice to know what happens.

          • +1

@lordra: Thanks @newkid will see how I go. Picked up a green switch on yesterday which they price matched. But wouldn't price match the orange as I didn't have a receipt for one.

            • @AquaDigger: That's very interesting! The huntsman vs the elite, which one is better? I know the elite comes with the wrist rest. They agreed to price match the Huntsman in the end. I wonder if I could push my luck with the Elites.

            • @AquaDigger: @aquadigger - hang on, the receipt says Orange Switches!

              • @lordra: Could try, I tried over the phone at a couple of stores and one in store with the new orange receipt today with no luck. I used the JB Hi Fi receipt from someone wayyy up there ^^^ to get it price matched at JB because she was nice. So now I have a keyboard with green switches that I'll have to sell or return.

                • @AquaDigger: @aquadigger: yea, I just tried merry lands and showed him both but no go. He said that it had to be in stock for him to price match. Which is fair enough. He found the stock but it had gone back up to $299. Strange thing is that I could never find the $139 price anywhere on MSY. I think I'll have to settle for the Huntsman at $129 instead.

  • Link for UNITEK USB3.0 Card Reader shows it at a cheaper price of $14

  • Officeworks has a Seagate 3TB external for $99, FYI.
