Was charged twice for the same order =_=

Tracking was quicky though, within 5 minutes.

    • same here.

  • -3

I know some people got cashback but looka like it is really random like a lottery. Is it legit?

    • +1

What makes you think they’re not legit? Been using them for years with no issue.

    • +1

CR is 100% legit, have used for well over a year and it has been great

  • +1

If I do this 33,334 times, I'll be a millionaire!

  • +1

    Got my tracking confirmation email 📧 in 6 minutes 😍 💗 💰 💵

Seeing everyone saying thiers worked within an hour makes me think my purchase via the CR app didn't work properly. Paid via Paypal and the $10 coupon worked though, it was definately only $10.

Too late to cancel and redo as thier chat is offline now and this expires tonight, but I'll just raise with CashRewards - I can see the press I did under my click history and past experience they have been spectacular at getting these sorted out.

Thanks again TA for another epic deal post - Amazing.

    • Did you receive confirmation email from cashreward?

      • Negative. Normally purchases from the app work well but looks like it failed me this time.

  • +1

Is there a page on ozbargain that recommends the best deals for usage for a new number, eg uber, food sign up etc?

  • Last few times I've tried to use these all I get is errors. Doesn't matter if I use PayPal, CC, everything fails. Couple days ago it failed and I got charged anyways, yet got an email next day saying "Something went wrong and we were unable to process your recent transaction."
If this wasn't working for some others I wouldn't bother trying anymore. One time a few weeks ago I got an error and no purchase went through but the non-existent purchase tracked so there went my chance at cashback. These offers are great but they really need to sort their site out, it's a long standing issue.

    • Same thing happened to me, I mentioned it on here and negged the deal and then I got negged because the cashback process is a mess and failed!

      • +1

I should add that I wasn't actually charged in the end, it was a different $10 purchase on the same day that I forgot about and it didn't show the vendor on the statement as it only goes through after 3 days. My mistake.

I've never had a problem with the cashback process, just issues with Amaysim's site. Any time I've had an issue with tracking, if I submit a claim it's sorted out every time. My only issue is with my inability to actually give Amaysim money whenever these deals go on and their servers are under load.

  • Hi TA,
How come my cash back is only $21 not $40? Anyone has the same problem as me? Thanks

    • Just had a look at all sales since 10PM and can see one made at exactly 22:41:45 that tracked at $21. If this is you, the reason it tracked at $21 is because amaysim reported the sale to us as a 2.5GB SIM instead of a 10GB SIM. If you in fact purchased the correct SIM, please ping me a screenshot copy of the invoice and I’ll take care of it.

  • If you paid via PayPal how do you turn off auto-renewal?

    • +2

      Change Payment Method to BPay

    • +1

When you receive the Amaysim SIM and after activation, login your Amaysim account and disable the auto-renewal. Meantime, just change the payment from Paypal to BPay.

  • Are people seeing this?:

"Whoops! We're really sorry about this, but it looks like something went wrong.
    The following error has occurred:

Sorry something went wrong. Please try again, or let us know if the problem keeps happening.
For all other enquiries, give us a call on 1300 808 300 and we'll process your transaction over the phone. Our operating hours are Mon-Fri 8am-7pm, Sat-Sun 10am-6pm and Public holidays 10am - 6pm (all AEST).
Contact us so we can get things sorted out for you. "

But they take your money anyway set up an account?

    • I an right now! Did the payment twice thinking it failed, charged twice, one set of emails. WTF????

  • going to get this… wish me luck everyone

    • After they took my money they never showed me the activation screen.

If I lose $10 I really need on a SIM I don't need I will make it my life's mission to educate others on this form of gambling. I should have learnt my lesson the first time…

  • -1

7.Turning auto-renewal off after activation will not disqualify you from this Cashback offer. So what do we have to stick with the plan.

    • will not disqualify

      • then why is it listed as number 7 in important guidelines.

        • +1

It means you can turn off auto-renew and you will still be eligible for cashback

  • +1

    Bought using the app.
Never got a confirm email but the amount is showing as pending in my account.
    Great deal!

    • +1

If it’s pending in your CR account, then the email is likely hiding in your spam folder. Please check :)

      • +1

        Yes it was. Cheers!

    • Nvm, email was in junk folder.

  • Holy moly… JUST got in to get this reward.

My first CR-based purchase. Hope it works out. lol

  • I got error at payment page,

"Whoops! We're really sorry about this, but it looks like something went wrong.
    The following error has occurred:

Then check my credit card, there are 2 x $10 charge pending, and no cashback track, OMG.

And I can't login to amaysim either, and even password reset is not working, it didn't recognize the email login, has to use amaysim provided mobile number.

It will take XXX minutes chat to fix it now.

    • Did you get in before 11:59PM? If not, deal's over.

      • bought at 11:20PM

        • Have exactly the same problem and purchased at exactly the same time!!! 11:20PM

          • +1

@kranoath: Bought it at 11:20PM, it gave me an error after payment.

Now it has sent me two invoices with the same mobile number issued, my credit card has been charged twice for the ordered number.

To top it off, no cashreward tracked!

            • +1

@jayzee: Lucky I was only charged once but still no cashreward tracking. Guess no such thing as a free meal right?

  • Completed all steps including id verification. Do nig see any CASHREWARDS yet!

  • +1

Got the "Whoops! We're really sorry about this, but it looks like something went wrong.
The following error has occurred:" error message.

But did get "Your amaysim SIM is on its way" confirmation email from amaysim. It's been close to an hour yet still no CR tracking or confirmation email!

How long does it usually take? Thanks.

    • Also check your bank account. Some of us were double charged when that error occurred.

Amaysim Live Chat is active now.

  • +3

Too much effort and headache for a $30 cash rebate, better wait for next $100 million Powerball draw :-)

    • With the "Sorry, something went wrong" - agree.

  • I was going to neg the deal when I saw the error to alert others better but I didn't want to be charged with giving inappropriate negs (I actually never neg). How can you warn others about a one day deal when Cashrewards tells you to wait 7 days!!?

I revealed my doubts about cashback programs from this last deal and I got negged just for giving my experience/opinion!

    • +2

How can you warn others about a one day deal when Cashrewards tells you to wait 7 days!!?

Point 7 of the OP: "If for any reason your sale fails to track after 7 days, open a support ticket(cashrewards.com.au) and the team will look into it for you."
I think this means if the cashback fails or doesn't appear on your account within the 7 day period, you provide proof and they'll handle it.

Here's what a rep has previously said:

Store Rep tightarse 6 hours 35 min ago
Hi Bappy. Believe me, I feel your frustration. I want nothing more than every single sale to track. I've already communicated this 'error' issue several times with amaysim and we've been told to submit claims for these orders. At this stage the belief is that it's due to the sheer amount of traffic being generated to their site. Please lodge a claim(cashrewards.com.au) after 7 days by uploading your invoice and stating that you received errors on payment and we'll take it from there. All the very best.

Additionally, in the OP it states "We've supercharged this deal with increased Cashback to $40 for the remainder of today only." meaning the previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/432077) was the main deal but they temporarily voided it to supercharge it to this deal and for today only.

Don't quote me on that, I feel that that is correct. You can contact the Rep if you want to be sure. Oh and cashback programs are trustworthy
      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • I'm sure there's quite a number that don't track properly (as is the case with this promotion) and people just give up or forget to make a claim after 7 days.

Even if you make a claim after 7 days there's still no guarantee you'll get the cashback.

      • That’s also very true. Thanks for mentioning it

    • +1

Same for me. Warn people and you got a neg.

  • Got one before expiry. Didn't get the 'congrats your purchase had tracked' email but logged in to CashRewards and its there
    Thank you

    • Check your spam / junk folder.
Shouldn’t matter if you got the email as long as it appears on CR you should be fine

  • -4

This is just a gambling which is waste of time. Huge neg for me and would never play this game again. Rep is reputable member of ozbargain community this why this deal got so many votes. If it was advertised by someone else it would be banned. I know lucky winners wil neg my comments but it was a lesson, no easy money which cost 10 dollars.

    • +1

or, just read the OP post, follow the instructions, raise a claim if it doesnt track

      such a scam indeed :/

    • Correct. Worked fine for some, but not for others (for no obvious reason). Dare to say say or god forbid neg it because it's flaky and get jumped on.

Ok, maybe you can sort it out by online chat, app, appeal, but that's such a ridiculous waste of time. Shouldn't be that hard. Certainly shouldn't be penalised for bring flaws to other attention.

That' only makes the deal look better than it is - like ebay sellers blackmailing buyers for positive feedback.

  • My point is the system is not working properly it should be fixed before massive ads compain like this.

  • Quick question: Do we need to keep paying for the SIM to keep it active for 90 days, till the time Cashrewards confirm the cashback?

    • No, you can disable auto-renew immediately. As long as you activate the sim before the 31st you will get the cashback.

Refer to point number 7 in the OP:

Turning auto-renewal off after activation will not disqualify you from this Cashback offer.

  • No tracking on CR either (only shown in click history)..followed the instructions fully..

    • Around what time did you do it? You may have missed the offer.

      • ~1:20pm AEST yesterday. Definitely during the offer period.

        • I would give it a couple of days. If you don't receive it contact the CR support.

Perhaps a Rep is able to look into this if they see this?

  • +1

I was going to get this after I put the kids to bed at around 9pm. They put me to bed and when I woke up it was 00:15. Missed out!

  • Maybe TA can extend this offer for another day for those who missed out or didn’t get through the deal ?

    • +1

Would love to oblige but the increase was granted by amaysim so we can only pass it on during the promo period.

We do however have Cashback running at $21 on 10FOR10 until the end of Jan if interested.

      • Hi TA,
Love the work you do & happy Australia Day!

I just had a question: I thought I just squeezed in to the deadline of 12 midnight because I clicked through the deal and was in the transaction payment stage by 11.59pm, however my transaction is being tracked for $21 cashback.

Would you be able to rectify this to $40 cashback? I may have been too slow…

        Cheers!

        • +1

And a happy Australia Day to you too. Will discuss via PM. Transaction tracks as per purchase time, not click time. Thanks.

  • Hi TA my cashback got tracked spot on, but today i just noticed i was charged twice by amaysim.
it looked like there were a few in my boat.

I am happy to deal with Amaysim direct and ask them to fix it, but which invoice out of the 2 should i tell them to refund me from? if they pick the 'wrong one', would that send a 'cancel' massage to CR?

    Cheers.

    • BTW, epic deal!

    • I would go to Amaysim and contact them via the live chat.
You could ask why you were charged twice and they will possibly refund you for half of it / 1 of the charges.

if they pick the 'wrong one', would that send a 'cancel' massage to CR?

      What do you mean?

      • i noticed there were 2 emails from amaysim arriving at the same time, each with different 'client number' and 'invoice number', i assume CR would only track 1 client or 1 invoice?

        cheers.

        • That's very strange.

          I would give them a call @ 1300 808 300 or start a live chat
here they are open from 10 am to 5:30 pm (Sydney time) on weekends.

Not really sure why that happened. Sorry I couldn't help more

          Best of luck.

        • Same, but the one mobile service number…. And looks like I got charged twice…

        • Same here, Got charged twice to the same service number,

          but no cashrewards tracked!

  • Looks like amaysim is increasing their energy rates to fund these cashbacks :) Almost 30% increase!

  • One of my accounts got the "Whoops" error last night minutes before midnight. When I checked the email there was no emails waiting like some had described so I hit the "try again" link and it worked fine but the tracking didn't work in minutes like the previous times.

Woke up this morning and it was indeed tracked!

It seems that error threw it off a bit but it came good in the end. Hopefully this is the case for others who got the error.

My credit card isn't showing any transactions yet so I can't see if Amaysim double dipped or not.

  • Still hasn't got answer regarding the ID check thing.

It never asked me to put in any ID check like driver license, etc. I have it completed with my credit card.

Login to my amaysim no where to do ID check, activate said already activated. Is that already considered ID checked?

  • I made a mistake(?) and my purchase didn't track…
I think it was because of my Windscribe Chrome extension, it automatically blocks ads.
I had Cashrewards whitelisted but forgot to do that for Amaysim.
Oh well, only a $10 loss.

    • Let them prove the purchase wasn't tracked. The ACCC cracks down heavily on promotions that rely on producing intangible evidence in their terms and conditions.

      Think of it this way:
      (i) Mystery man takes you to a shop to buy a SIM card for $10.
(ii) Being on a hefty plan as it is, you don't need another SIM card right now, but he promises that he'll pay you a $40 affiliate bonus that he himself earns from the shopkeeper, but only if you enter using his secret keycard and activate it within 13 days.
(iii) The shop is aware and condones the transfer of affiliate income via cash rewards programs.
(iv) The man says the keycard will let you in regardless of how you use it, but his affiliate bonus will only be paid out by the shopkeeper if the keycard is swiped from left-to-right and the door is opened with your left elbow.
      (v) You follow the keycard swiping procedure to the best of your ability, but despite the shopkeeper expecting affiliate referrals from the mystery man for cash rewards, they refuse to give you any indication as to whether you swiped in correctly and treat you like any other customer that came in without a keycard. A paranoid part of you thinks that the leather jacket you're wearing would prevent the secret code passing through that would identify the mystery man as the referring agent.
(vi) The shopkeeper gives you the SIM and an invoice for the amount paid that has no mention of whether you swiped in correctly.
(vii) The shopkeeper has an undiagnosed medical condition and passes out before your eyes, not letting you finish the last steps that qualify you for the cash reward before you leave the shop.
(viii) You come back to the shop when the shopkeeper has recovered and he tells you that he still can't tell you if you checked-in properly, but says it's too late for a refund and you should follow through with the activation process before the dead-line and "see what happens".
(viiii) You activate the SIM card you never used and a few weeks later the mystery man tells you that the shopkeeper told him you swiped incorrectly.
      (x) Shopkeeper's loss: $0.
      Mystery Man's loss: $0.
      Your loss: $10.

While in this case both Cashrewards and Amaysim are reputable companies and would probably do their best to make you happy and maintain their reputations, it's obvious to see how a system like this can be exploited by unscrupulous actors. It's the very reason the ACCC has strict rules regarding cash back offers (https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/misleading-claims-advertis…).

From a web-programmer's perspective, there's no excuse for this lack of transparency. A merchant's website can easily be programmed to distinguish hidden affiliates from cash-bonus-forwarding affiliates. If it's too hard for them to achieve it then they could simply ban cash-bonus-forwarding affiliates until they get a better web developer.

We can't control foreign websites, but if enough people were misled the ACCC would be VERY insterested.

And once again to all the negging fanboys, this isn't about you or your precious Cashrewards. If there's a problem with a system that may have a simple solution, it's in your interest, Cashrewards' interest and Amaysim's interest to get it fixed. I've picked on all the banks for pulling the same stunt (ING, CUA etc all failed to provide confirmation of promo code use) and I'll continue giving the punches 'til I'm satisfied (interestingly, no one negs when you bash the banks…).

      • Tl;dr

      • Wow u actually wrote all that? Lol

        • -1

Yes. Makes a legitimate point AND gets negged for it!

      • You raise a good point.

  • +3

Tracked perfectly for me within a few mins.

    • Used Firefox with the CR plugin (this also popped up a confirmation it was being tracked)
    • If you pay with credit card you dont need to do the ID check.
  • +4

WARNING: The sim came preactivated. I purchased on Tuesday, sim arrived on Friday, I logged in on Saturday to “activate” the sim (which is weird as it’s preactivated and I still needed to activate) Then once I did it says I have 22 days left on my service, not 28days. I contacted support and they told me they’re preactivated and there’s nothing they can do. Kind of stupid losing days on a charge when I wasn’t able to use it as I didn’t physically have it.
Purchase this second deal around the same time… so I’m assuming it’s the same. So I have two preactivated sims running at the same time. Which sucks. Also this second time didn’t track, so if I don’t get my cashback, I’ve just thrown $10 away on a sim that won’t get used.

    • +1

Every time I received a preactivated sim from Amaysim (basically whenever you choose a new number), the service automatically reset once I inserted the sim in my phone.

      • ^ This. Mine also came pre-activated but auto reset to 28 days once I started using it.

      • Just checked my account and it hasn’t reset. Still saying 22 days and I put the sim in today. Weird because although “preactivated” I had to still activate the sim when I got it.

  • got this but didn't get the email confirmation or the cashback. guess i'll have to raise a ticket :(

  • omg devastated. can't believe I missed this! Got the $35 but did not see this one!

  • Sim still not despatched. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Edit: NVM, logged out and logged back in, all good now. Showing the Sim as pre-activated, now wondering if we need to bother at all to insert it in a phone to be eligible?

  • Got an error when I was checking out on the day of this deal twice and thought nothing of it.

Checked my account yesterday and charged $10x2.

    Great.

  • tightarse, does the service need to be active for a certain period to receive the cashback? For example if all conditions in the terms are met but I choose to port out the number after 28 days do I still receive the cashback?

    Thanks

  • Placed the order, saw click history but nothing rewaded. Communicate with Cashrewards no result so far…….

    • Please see note 14 in the OP…

If for any reason your sale fails to track after 7 days, open a support ticket and the team will look into it for you.

These claims can't be actioned prior to the 7 days. Thanks.

      • Hi TA - any further action required to make it active? Paid by credit card, verified but now that I got the SIMs, do I need to activate/link further?

        Thanks in advance.

        • you wait till 7 days has passed then raise a support ticket if its still not tracked

          • @SBOB: im referring to activating amaysim sim card.

            • +1

@raiseyoursteaks: Check your services, if the number is active it should appear at the top of the page with a renewal date. If it’s not already active (i.e. if you’re porting an existing number), you’ll need to select the ‘activate SIM’ option and follow the prompts.

Or you could just put the SIM in a phone and try to make a call :)
