Anymore details on this one? Locations?

    • The above information is everything that is included in the email.

    • Tasmania only. Have updated post.

      • Just a FYI, I got also got the e-mail and I have not set my preferences to Tasmania

        • Which location do you have set in your Fresh Club?

          • @neil: I got the email too. I've set my location to NSW.

      • +1

Regional Victoria, Southern NSW and Sydney are included, too.

        • Ah OK, have changed to select locations.

    • Hi guys,

Offer only available in Sydney, Southern NSW, Regional Victoria and Tasmania.

  • Am I the only one confused reading the title

    • +7

      Yes

    • +2

Free Sub* if you buy a Sub + Drink.

      * Sub can be Footlong or Six Inch, must cost less than purchased Sub

      • +2

must cost less than purchased Sub

        = or <

    • +1

Buy any sub with a drink then you will get another sub for free I reckon?

    • Title now improved.

    • Just BOGOF Subs with drink purchase needed.

  • +2

There's no indication what stores are participating.

    • +1

Subway never specified participating store names.

    • +10

Yeah this and I bet every one I walk into isn't supporting this promo because they're scum bag franchisees.

Should be handled like dominos, they must all be forced to participate.

      • +1

But not all dominos stores participate in every promotion?

        • I don't think anyone would argue with saying Dominos are much more consistent and upfront than Subway are with promotions.

Further to this, at least you can try it out on the app or website? It is much harder to physically go to the place and ask, or worse still, get to the end of the sandwich creation process, only to be told they won't honor the price

  • Link just brings me to Subway's homepage OP

    • +1

Yes, the offer was sent in email, dated 8 April 2019. The link is automatically added when posting.

  • +3

so do they know or do you have to show this email to them?
imagine rocking up and they say they don't know anything about this promotion lol

    • +3

Been there, when it comes to franchises!

    • There is no mention of showing the email.

    • +4

Hey there I work at Subway just for reference:
From what I can see this is an Eat Fresh Club offer, which would USUALLY require you to have an Eat Fresh Club account (it's free to sign up and they do good deals quite often).

The only thing that's weird is that there's no mention of needing to log in to the app in the email… I think the best thing to do would be to call up your local store as Subway hardly ever informs franchise owners when they're doing these Eat Fresh Club deals, and even when they do a lot of the franchisees won't inform the manager / workers of the deal so they won't honour it.

If you're going in there I just urge you to not abuse the workers if they say they don't know about it or they can't do it; we're just the middle man!

      • +1

I checked the eat fresh club. No mention of this offer. I didn't get the email too.

        • Yeah I just thought to check EFC as well and no offer… Weird.

      • +1

Used to do good deals* FIFY

        • +1

Good point haha, tbh I haven't used it in like 6 months cause I just use staff discount

  • +1

At least a screenshot of the email?

  • +3

Op, can you please attach a copy of the email? Like what others said, rocking up with an Ozb post wouldn't be the most bullet proof plan.

  • How to I make the order for this with Uber eats? Do I just leave a note for the free sub?

    • +1

The terms above state, 'Valid on in-restaurant purchases only.'

    • +2

      You’re funny

  • How much does the drink cost?

    • +2

      Depends on the drink mate

      • lowest? coz m not after soft drink :P

        • Would probably vary with each store. It's hard to tell as they are a franchise and have different prices for each location. My guess would be $2-$3.

    • The drink costs $4.20, at Kings Meadows, Tasmania.

  • +3

    Chatswood stores not particpating!!!

  • +5

    https://www.frugalfeeds.com.au/2019/deal-subway-buy-six-inch…

Frugal feeds has a copy of the promotional flyer if anybody wants more details.

Edit: "The deal was sent to Eat Fresh club members, but should be available to the general public." - frugalfeeds.com.au

  • +1

Possibly targeted? I am signed up to the eat fresh club and received no email and signed in to see if the offer was there and it shows nothing.

    • Ditto

    • +3

I signed into my Eat Fresh Club account and it is not mentioned in the offers section.

    • Me too, never received an email. I just signed into my account, nothing in my offer list.

  • +2

Can anyone confirm that they got a second subway sandwich by saying, a person on the INTERNET said I could have it?

I haven't seen it on facebook, twitter, instagram, eat fresh offers or my next door neighbour, maybe its on the window at the store?

  • +2

Macquarie centre not participating. Or at least the guy has no info on it

    • Welp, saved me a visit. Guess I'll just go straight to my 249 prac then.

  • +10

I remember working for a Subway store over a decade ago during my Uni days. We never were a participating store unless forced by Head Office. Half the time we wouldn't know anything was happening (and I was often the Manager on duty) until someone turned up and mentioned the add or promotion, and we'd have to call the owner and ask. Worst was when people assumed we were offering a promotion, got to the register, and then find out there we weren't offering the promotion, and they'd just walk away with that food having to be tossed. Subway were never clear on which stores were or were not participating.

  • +1

I'll say this to any subway in SA, and they will look confused then try everything they can to refuse it.

  • Hey this is entertainment book offer!

  • +2

Worked for me, StKilda Rd Melbourne. Mentioned and showed ozbargain post. Anyone know how long you can freeze subway sandwiches for?

    • Footlong or six-inch?

      • Footlong.

    • +6

I have 1 that's still frozen after 5 years so at least 5 years.

    • -1

You only need to freeze items that have more nutrients than preservatives.

  • Sandwich of equal or lesser value??? What is this sandwich elitism!?

  • Any gluten free options at Subway that work with this deal?

  • +5

Just went to the Surry Hills store (Devonshire St), Sydney. When I showed them the deal on my phone they looked at me like I was Casper the Ghost. We're not a participating store said an underling. A senior team member said that she had not received an email but would call HO later.
I still got my lunch but a work colleague who was expecting a freebie did not.

    • +1

I still got my lunch but a work colleague who was expecting a freebie did not.

      Just choked on my sub.

  • +4

The lack of participating stores being shared is a big flaw. It’s like an Easter egg hunt.
They are relying on people to turn up and end up eating there since they made their way.
It’s like a sly way of marketing minimising losses.
2 for the price of 1 too good to be true, so only if your lucky.
(Oh and by the way it’s for 2 days only so be quick)

  • +11

No list of stores = unobtainable (in any practical sense)

For shame, Subway. For shame. Head office: Get off your backside and pull your weight.

  • Worked at Berwick Subway. However, you must have a Subway membership and activate the offer on your phone. But they honoured it for me anyways.

    • How do you activate the offer on the phone?

      • Not sure. I'm not a subway member, but I would assume you do it via email? as there is no app. Only went to subway because other staff members wanted Subway.

        • There is no mention or no way of activating it. It is not like the birthday deal.

  • Just went to Dickson ACT, they have never heard of this.

This should be reported to the ACCC

  • +1

Subway Canberra city near Bailey's corner/ bus interchange are not participating. I used my entertainment voucher instead thou so not a completely wasted trip.

  • +7

A d*** move would be to order both subs without confirming, get to the register and assume they are participating.
When they say they aren't, walk away.

It wouldn't take anymore than a 2 customers doing that for them to put up a sign telling ALL customers that they are not honouring a head office promo.

Not that I am encouraging such action, but it would be a useful 'learning tool' for cheapskate franchisee's trying to capitalise on people who feel too guilty to say no to paying full price at the register, honestly thinking that Subway will honour their sales.

From a consumer law point of view, there is no obligation for the customer to purchase.

    • A user already commented against doing exactly this as it just produces food-waste.

It seems this whole fiasco was intended by head office.
Unhappy/happy customers drumming up activity online (free exposure), and a few customers standing over un-informed employees threatening them with complaints resulting in a few of them giving in and fulfilling the deal without authorisation.

There is a serious lack of structure to the deal (code, email coupon, app).
It’s just a pain for customers and employees all in one fell swoop.
They managed to manufacture conflict and disappointment for most of those involved.

  • +8

I used to love subways, but some where along the line they made the bread smaller, so less can fit inside. The worst thing for me is they stopped using a scoop for the tuna and started spreading it with a knife. Now I get half the tuna I used to. And of course the price has gone up too.

This neg isn't against the deal but against subway itself.

    • +2

I agree…. definitely size and quality has gone down.

Remember how they used to cut a V into the top and then fill the whole V up in ingredients?
No way in the world their current bread would be able to handle that!

Flavour isn't the same, quality isn't the same, quantity isn't the same.

I reckon they'll be gone in 5 years.

      • +1

Honestly I think they'll stick around for a while because there's still no real competition in "healthy" fast food. I understand rising costs, but when they raise the price AND lower the quality they've really stuffed up.

        • someone should open up a quiznos - i remember that being better when i was in LA…. but many years ago

          • @chriskq: This was already tried in Australia a few years back and failed miserably. I think the franchise costs were too high for the franchisees to turn a profit so they all went bust.

  • +1

Works at Lime Street, Sydney. Showed the flyer on my phone to the bread sandwich artist and cashier.

    • +1

      bread sandwich artist ?!?

My bovine fecal matter detector is going cray cray right now :).

  • +3

Here's the response I just got from Subway when I emailed them about Subway, Surry hills non participation.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

As each restaurant is individually owned and operated, some franchise owners may decide not to participate in certain promotions or alternatively decide to offer other deals for their own restaurant.

To check if a restaurant is participating in a promotion or not, we would recommend asking the staff in store before placing your order or calling the restaurant ahead of your planned visit to ask if they are participating in the promotion.

So when the email suggests that you hotfoot it to your closest restaurant to take part. You might want to call them first, if you can be arsed.

    • FYI, they don’t even have the Sub of the Day deal. Wasted a trip there once.

  • -1

Is this really a deal? I get a voucher for this literally every time I go to Subway. They just go in the bin.

    • you get a voucher from subway with every purchase?

    • Which Subway is giving out these vouchers?

  • +3

Never honored at the stores I go to, just tried it today and was rejected.

    I didn't need a rejection on a Monday :(.

Still got myself a footlong though, maybe that's their marketing strategy.

  • +1

I jusf went into subway Melbourne on exhibition street and they have no idea what I was talking about.

    • I’ll try tomorrow and let you know how I go.

      • Not participating :(

  • Narellan Town Centre store did it for me - though they had no idea about the deal… just showed them this post 👍🏼

  • So really just 2 for 1

    • 2 for 1 at 1/2 the stores

      • Maybe less than 1/2

  • They need to restructure their stores so they are an actual ‘chain’.
Used to go to 2 different stores not far from each other, was expecting one store to have the same card-board cut-out offers as the other.
Turns out they have different deals and a stamp-card system instead, and when presenting the card to be stamped at the other store, you are informed that the card has no value there whatsoever.
It’s as-if each store owner can do absolutely anything they want.

    • same as the stamp cards they use different ones at different stores

  • -1

👨🏿 Just get Deliveroo Plus and order your footlong from the comfort of your couch at home.

  • +4

No list of stores means unobtainable.
response from head office is pathetic.
