              • @lovepub: The reason I ask is because some credit cards come in a biggish welcome pack (which would stick out from a mailbox if they try to stuff it in half way), and I've had those stolen from my mailbox in the past. I'd be less worried if it's sent as a parcel so the postie would leave a card for me to pick up from the post office.

                • @cynix: by the way….u seem to have registered your log in.
how did u manage to do that. I chatted and was told i wait for card to register.

                  • @lovepub: I already had online banking access because of my existing Citibank Plus account (I thought that was pretty standard for any OzBargainer, for overseas ATM withdrawals :p). The new credit card automatically showed up in online banking as soon as it was approved.

                    • @cynix: ok…nah. I dont have it. Only have 28degree for oversea use. Citibank plus any good? maybe i should get one too

                      • @lovepub: It's useful for overseas ATM withdrawals to avoid the cash advance fee charged by 28degrees (or BankWest Zero), and you might get a very slightly better exchange rate if you withdraw at a Citibank ATM. Some people prefer ING for its ATM operator fee refund, but I can't be bothered playing their 5-transactions/month game.

                • @cynix: The card is sent in a standard letter size envelope with 3 sheets of A4 size letter + a Compliments size sheet containing your Priority Pass invitation code.

                  • @pork chop: Thanks! Hopefully it won't attract the attention of mail thieves then.

        • Mine was approved on the 4th and arrived today (7th) so pretty quick for me

  • Does anyone know how many points we get by using paypal as a payment method?

  • Just find out Citibank in Australia only providing Apple & Samsung Pay but not Google Pay. That's annoying, now need carry the extra physical card with me.

Strange the their US counterpart support G-Pay

Does anyone know if the linked diners card incurs an additional credit check?

Also if the additional 10K points is citi rewards or qantas?

    • Apparently you can only get one type of points, so if your account is on the Qantas program then you'll get Qantas points. (I have no idea if the 10K bonus will actually apply in this case. There's no mention of this on the card signup page.)

    • I didn't apply for the linked Diners card but Citibank made two enquiries on my file for the VISA which dropped my credit score by 100 pts!

      • I just check my credit file and only 1 enquiry.

Does anyone know if credit cards that have been closed still show up on the report. The past credit cards are all there but show up as status C (closed or closing).

        • I only have 1 Citibank q
Enquiry for nkw. Have been approved but still waiting for card to come.

Credit score dropped about 30 for the 1 enquiry they made

      • Mine took at 112 point beating. Income increased slightly since last application. Not sure whether I put same expenses last time.

        Have 2 enquiries:
        29th May, amount $0
        30th May, amount $15000

Does the $0 enquiry affect anything?

        • Unfortunately yes. My friend was instantly declined and lost about 50 points from Citi's $0 enquiry

          • @heytherehoney: Can anything be done to request the removal of one of the enquiries?

    • I don't think the diners card comes with 10k points. At least not on this deal. Where did you see this?

It uses the same credit balance as your signature visa card so would not be an extra check.
I only had one enquiry from Citi on my credit file

  • Off topic, i assume some of us here were in this St. George bank visa card deal at the end of last year (80k qantas points + 2 passes + $0 fee/1st year). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/418075. i called them today and they state the 80k points will be sent in TWO batches the 2nd one being next year. did you guys experience this? or they are doing a bait and switch in broad daylight on me.

hope Citi wont play nasty in this deal.

    Cheers.

The terms on the St George site:
      https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/affiliate/…

The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met.

I got mine within this time frame. Perhaps point them to this

      • cheers Render for quick response. the link is handy!
also i was give a link in the same call for me to apply for the passes online. there it has 3 kind of passes, priority and qantas. i gather we can only get one of the 2, if i am already earning qantas points on my St geoge card, i will have to apply for the qantas pass?

    • I got all my points in one batch. Never received the passes though.

      • For the passes from St George, you had to register at https://loungepass.stgeorge.com.au/ and/or amplify.stgeorge.com.au ; it wasn't clear which one (it's probably the first, but both were mentioned on their website), so I registered at both to be safe, and got the passes 6 days later.

        • I do remember registering somewhere, but can't remember which one. I guess I didn't back the winning horse :p

Took 3 weeks. Got declined. Worst customer service ever.

    • That bad. But there are always other cards

Go apply the Qantas premier. Hopefully that one is easier to get approved.

      • worst thing was I saw 30 point drop in the credit rating after this application.

        Heard Qantas uses citibank

  • I was rejected by Citibank a year ago. Just applied for this deal on 1st June, with the same information I provided last year, and I received the text today saying I've been approved.

On a side note, has anyone managed to get written proof that you can put government charges towards the $4000 minimum spend? Some comments above say they've been told yes on the phone and others been told no.

      Got this reply via email
This pertains to your complaint with reference number xxxxxxxxxxxxx
about the eligibility spent to get the 90,000 Qantas points on your
      Signature card.

We confirmed that Government transactions, Council rates, motor
registrations, tolls and Australia Post were eligible spend for the
      bonus points.

Just send an email to get confirmation

      • That's good news, thanks for that. I'll email them also

      • Emailing now….

      • Dear (name)

        Thank you for your email.

For your reference, Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding
(but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special
Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers
cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other
Citi accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges,
transactions made using Points and government related transactions.
Government related transactions include transactions with government or
semi-government entities, or relating to services provided by or in
connection with government (for example but not limited to transactions
made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office,
council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking stations and meters,
fares on public transport, fines and court related costs).

Please note that whether or not a transaction is an Eligible Transaction
will be determined based on card scheme information ultimately provided
either by the merchant (including individual outlets) or its financial
institution (including information about the type of business conducted
by the merchant). This means that, for example, spend with certain
merchants may be characterised as spend with a government related entity
and therefore not an Eligible Transaction, even if that merchant is not
in fact a government related entity.

We hope this information is useful. If there is anything else we can do
to assist you, please let us know and we will be happy to help.

        Yours sincerely,

        • I don't like that reply from Citibank. That's just copying and pasting the definition of "eligible transaction", no where does it say it relates to this promotion. Eligible transactions refer to the amount of Qantas points you'll earn per dollar spent, nothing to do with promotional bonus points.
This is taken from the terms and conditions for this card:

To earn 90,000 bonus Qantas Points, you must apply for a new Citi Signature Qantas Credit Card by 30 June 2019, then spend $4,000 on your Citi Signature Qantas Credit Card card within 90 days from approval. Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, refunds, chargebacks, Special Promotions and spend on the Linked Diners Club Card do not contribute to the spend threshold.

No where does it mention "eligible transaction" and it clearly says what is excluded from the spend threshold. Going off that, government charges should count towards the $4000 minimum spend

          • +1

            @bighorse: I didn't like it either.
I've since emailed again, hope to get someone or something more clearer than the reply above.

            • @Spending2Much: As mentioned in a couple post. $4000 in 90 days isn't all that hard going with minimum income.

I would imagine if you make the minimum income requirement for this card, you should live a life that spends 2000+ easily per month.

Worse case, just buy wollies gift card at 5% off and use it in the near future.

That way u won't have to worry about making the 4000 amount or not.

              • +1

@lovepub: I earn $75k+ and don't spend anywhere near 2000 per month (obviously that's excluding my mortgage and government charges such as rates, vehicle rego etc). I was planning on buying gift cards anyway to make up the remainder but I have a decent ATO bill due soon and also rates soon, so it would have been a lot easier just to throw those charges on this card to smash out the $4000 spend. The fact that Citibank keeps giving different answers and don't seem really interested in helping (eg. sending generic template emails) is what we're discussing

                • @bighorse: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/462679#comment-7372193

Perfect way to stock up on EFTPOS cards, which then can use to pay via Australia Post/DoT (Government spends etc)

                  • @Spending2Much: Yeah but it's a $6.95 fee per $100 gift card, you're effectively paying a 6.95% credit card fee just to use government charges towards the minimum spend. As opposed to a 0.78% fee if paying the ATO direct with a credit card

I'm in WA so only get the 1000 bonus woolworths points. I can't see though, is that per $100 gift card purchased? Or just a one off bonus?

                    • @bighorse: Yeah, original post said 2000 bonus points ($10 WW), since revised to 1000, so not that good a deal after all.

      • Sent another email, this time the reply said they can't confirm anything other than what's in the Ts&Cs, so I need to read that.
I called up phone banking and after finally waiting over 15 minutes, was told about three times, the $4000 spend includes government spend. Asked for a call reference number which they said they don't have, I asked if the call is recorded, I asked if they could email me confirmation of what I've just been told…and still can't get anything definite or direct.
        Citibank seem bloody hopeless.

        • +2

I received the generic reply with the "eligible transaction" terms, same as you did. I replied explaining in further detail and they've replied saying "Your complaint has now been escalated and a case manager will review and respond within four business days."

          I'll keep you posted

          • @bighorse: So I had the manager ring me yesterday and left a voicemail, instead of just telling me the answer he said he'll try later. Got another call today, voicemail left and he said he would email me. No email yet. It's like they don't want to provide the answer in writing. By the time I finish work and phone them they're already closed so I keep missing them. Just reply to my damn message in online banking, how hard is that….

        • Thats odd, I called citibank and waited 15mins also but i was asking about if my card was the Qantas Rewards one and the rep did not hesitate to give me his name, extension number and chat reference number.

Maybe get the rep to provide that first before talking about anything related to the spend criteria?

But i got confirmation I am with the QANTAS card, even though the card has no Branding on it.

I should of asked about the eligible transaction too. Damit!

          • @Pandaboss: I got name, extension number, but apparently there's no cal reference number. I asked if the calls are recorded….

            • +1

@Spending2Much: Got the bonus points on the same time as my first statement. Worked out fine. Inc car rego in there as well.

              • @Pandaboss: Did you BPay via your CC for your car rego?

I know ANZ treats paying bills with BPay on cc as normal and non-cash advance, but not sure if Citi treats it the same way.

                • +1

@Unorthodox: I paid online through DOT website filling CC directly

                  • @Pandaboss: Oh I see!

VicRoads charges a surcharge so I guess I'll avoid haha

                    Thanks!

  • Approved and got the card within a week :)
My only problem is I can't register my username and password.
It keep saying "I'm sorry. I don't recognize the information you entered."
Call the card centre and they said will investigate but will take 4-7 working days ……

    • I received approval emails as well, however it is approved for Citi Rewards Signature Credit Card.
There's no indication for it being Citibank Qantas card.
Is it the same for you?

During approval process, I confirmed with the rep that I will get 90k qff points, and she confirmed it.

      This is my email:

Congratulations on being approved for your Citi Rewards Signature Credit Card. We are pleased to welcome you to a world of exciting experiences where every purchase is more rewarding.

Set up your online account and learn about the benefits of your credit card.

      • +1

Same here, a bit annoying as nothing mentions Qantas, but confirmed on the chat that my QFF number was there and that I will get the points 8 weeks after spending the minimum.

        • +1

Apparently we can verify this via "Rewards" tab near the top of the page (next to "Services" and "Offers" tab).
Here you can verify your QFF number as well.

If you go to Rewards link under Account Details, you will go to normal Citibank rewards page, which is very misleading.

I'm pretty sure their customer service is sick of these questions.

          • @OzBestDeal: I can see that my QFF number is there, does that definitely mean I'm getting hte 90K if i spend $4,000? I haven't been charged the $50 fee yet.

            • @alamodey: Same here, I haven't been charged the $50 fee as well
All the reward tab confirmed is that we enrolled in Qantas Signature CC (instead of std Reward Signature CC)

I had a live chat rep confirmed that my card is enrolled under 90k promo

          • @OzBestDeal: My Rewards tab is still showing "Citi Rewards" and no QFF, but both phone and chat operators insist that I'm registered for Qantas rewards correctly and eligible for the bonus. I dunno if I should believe them…

            • @cynix: Are you clicking "Rewards" tab on the top of the page?
If you click your account, then click Rewards quick link from there, it will go to standard Citi rewards page.

I think your best bet is to do Live Chat and save the chat history.

              • @OzBestDeal: Yeah I'm clicking the Rewards tab near the top of the page.

I've contacted them multiple times by phone and chat, and they insist that my card is enrolled in the Qantas Direct Earn rewards program and that the Rewards tab in online banking should not show anything Qantas related as the rewards program is "only visible internally in their system", despite multiple people here demonstrating otherwise…

      • I got my card in the mail. It just says new 'Citi Signature credit card', no mention of Qantas

        • Same here, even on the Key facts paper it only mention $395 annual fee after 1st year. No $49 QFF fee mentioned anywhere.

  • +1

    Applied. Declined.
Then applied for the westpac altitude black and got approved. Thanks Citibank.

  • -1

Applied requesting a $15k credit limit (the minimum).

Instantly declined for the Signature card, however approved for the 'Citibank platinum rewards card' with a credit limit of $15, 300!! $300 more then I requested for the signature card.

    Time wasters. Vote revoked.

  • applied a week ago.. just got message that application has been approved.. had to post 2 payslips…

  • Does anyone know after getting your points, then will cancelling the credit card bring your credit score back HIGHER?

  • +1

    Oh wow

Just registered for the card account online. The mobile app and website app is a bit outdated and wasn't the most user friendly.

Is the site diff on computer?
I tried desktop version on my mobile and still shows up like mobile version

    • Yeah, the mobile/desktop site is pretty ordinary. The app isn't much if any, better.
Other banking apps leave this one far behind.

  • Out of interest, what figure do people put as their monthly living expenses? Does the bank look for a particular lifestyle?

    • I think I put down 2k for my share in the family. Wife for the other 2k obviously.

      • Same sort of figure I use. Never really bothered to calculate the figure exactly.

    • 1/4 of my after-taxed salary

  • Declined…will this affect my credit score?

  • For some reason I thought it was 0% fee on international transactions, but not the case:

    International Transaction Fee

We charge you an International Transaction Fee of 3.4%, debited to your Account on the Transaction Date, of which a service and assessment fee up to 1.1% is payable by us to Visa or Mastercard, for any Retail Purchase or Cash Advance transaction in:
foreign currency once converted to Australian dollars; and/or
Australian dollars (or any other currency), when either the merchant or its financial institution/payment processor is located or registered overseas, including transactions that involve dynamic currency conversion (that is where a transaction denominated in a foreign currency is converted to local currency which is a service that is offered by certain ATMs and merchants). The process of conversion and the exchange rates applied will be determined by the relevant ATM, merchant or dynamic currency conversion service provider as the case may be. We do not determine whether a Card transaction will be converted into local currency by the merchant or ATM and you may have to check with the relevant merchant or ATM provider.
Note: It may also not always be clear that the merchant or its financial institution/payment processor is located or registered outside Australia.

  • For those that don’t shop at Coles/woolies, Aldi do gift cards in store to meet min spend

  • Hi all,

Quick question, I've applied for and got the card. Regarding the min 4k spend to get the Qantas points. Is it still ok to pay the card off during the 90 day period? Or do have to have 4k on there once you click over the 90 days?

    Cheers,
    Justin

    • You pay the card off as usual when the statement generates

      • sorry not sure what that means. What if I pay it off in before the statement generates?

        • That doesn't matter. Just do it.

You spend $1000 on the card today, pay it ($1000)off today or tomorrow is okay.

The $1000 still count towards your 4000 spend

  • Pretty painless exercise. I can see their review process (at face value) appears to be a little more thorough or may be just appears that way due to their sheer size and compliance areas etc but overall got approved in a day after a phone call to verify some personal details. Would be a good card to hang onto for 11months, only major downside is no Google Pay and crappy phone app. It looks like something's brewing on the app side but who knows about Google Pay.

  • +1

I applied, was approved and received my card today.
So paranoid me with an existing citibank card went on live chat to confirm I'm eligible for the 90k points.
Customer service confirms I'm eligible but then mentions he hasn't got my QFF details (which I provided in my application)
He couldn't add it via online chat and suggested I call the 13CITI number.

Spoke to a girl who confirmed my QFF details aren't on the account and it's a glitch in their system not catching the details on the application form.

After she updated and read a script I had to agree to, she apologised for the trouble and added an additional 2000 QFF points to my account.

Suggest people double check they're enrolled in the QDE program.

    • Thanks for the tip, I'll do that.

    • glitch or deliberate ploy to get ppl to miss out on the points?

i just got approved last week, after waiting in the dark for almost 2 weeks. but still haven't received my actual card. the moment i get the card i'll be checking confirming my QFF details too.

      • Yea nah no ploy. Btw you can check it now before you receive your card. I did a live chat and it was all good.

  • Finally approved.

I called them a week ago (a week after submission) and they told me everything is fine and that I just had to wait… fast forward a week later with no progress I called up again.

I called in the morning and asked them why it's taking so long. They told me that there was some technical errors and delays and blah blah blah.

After that they asked me to confirm details and they escalated or forwarded my application to application team. I got approved in the afternoon.

  • I did a live chat today with Citi and found out that my QFF number was incorrectly entered on the system for some odd reason. I managed to get them to fix it and will still earn the points for the past transactions at the end of the statement. She also confirmed (without me asking) that I am eligible for the 90k points once I meet minimum 4k spend in 3 months. Pretty good customer service so far.

Edit: received St George points today, time to close that account! :)

    • Nice! STG fee free first year?
My partner's pts was credited last month and was going to close but her birthday month is next month so will hold out to get the 10%bonus points and then cancel, hopefully you are in the same boat before you decide to close, oh and redeem your lounge passes! :D

  • One week into using the card.
Has anyone been charged the $49 Qantas reward program fee already? Can you see it in the online spend ?

Someone says they can see it already in their statement, I am wondering how can it be when jts not even 1 month yet. So they must have seen it just under the spend list.

    • Opened my card in May, $49 charge appears 31/5/19. My single data point says the charge will post at the end of the month you open the card.

      • thanks. mine didn't show at all…will chat them up to see what's happening.

  • +2

Super fast. Hit the spend last week, points already credited. Had the card less than a month!

    • When did u get the card? And do you know what date you got charged with the $49 fee.?

    • Inc any government charges etc?

      • No government charges. Insurance and super contribution plus miscellaneous.

        • Super contribution… interesting.
They obviously take credit card to do extra payment to super fund.
          I'm $2800 into the $4k since 07/07

          • @Spending2Much: Didn't know people contribute to their super annuation by using credit card …

Didn't know you can do that either.

          • @Spending2Much: My super only allows direct debit via bank account, no credit card :(

            • +1

@bighorse: Same. Otherwise be a 4k super contribution straight up, job done.

          • +1
