  • Just wondering if anyone know ways to get a cheap sim from Optus to share the Data?

  • +1

If you have the old data share sim that was a once off $5 cost, will upgrading to these new plans still allow data sharing with my old data share sim?

    • +1

Yes, no issues with that sim.

    • I was 2 days too late to sign up for that plan :/

    • I'm using a free SIM they gave out for data sharing years ago. As long as the plans have data sharing you'll be good

      • how do i get a free data sim from optus ? any advise?

  • Signed up on Saturday for iPhone XS $108 play (50gb). Now there is $103 plan with 200gb :( Any tips on how to get them to upgrade my plan? Thanks!

    • web chat

      • I've tried two people and no from both :( Perhaps I need to be firmer

    • Refuse the delivery if ordered online?

  • Can anyone confirm in the international 4GB is per month or for the whole 'plan' (i.e. a once off 4GB?)

    • +1

      Its per month

  • In my area Optus 4G gives terrible bandwidth - speed test clocks in at 11/1 on 4G and only 5/1 when 3G locks in.

I signed up to the iPhone XR 128gb $69 plan + $20 phone a few weeks ago ($89 total) with 100gb data. I contacted Optus today and got them to put me on the $100pm plan with 200gb data. Initially I was told no but then I mentioned something about the TIO and they agreed to honor the deal for me. I think I should get the beats headphones too.

As I’m doing a data pool I’m using the data for my home internet too so an extra 100gb for $11 a month more is definitely worth it!

    • What's the TIO going to do? Optus hasn't done anything wrong, you changed your mind after signing the contract.

I think you should quit while you are ahead and stop being a pita customer.

  • Anyone know of a way to get data share data sim for a reasonable cost or not $20 plus pm

    • See if you have loyalty or retention offers on your account

So which phone does the discount apply to?

  • I just signed an iPhone XS 256Gb plan from upgrading one SIM plan, it is still able to carry on my previous student offer(extra 10% off). $125 plan with 20% off and 10% student discout plus $15 phone, monthly repayment is $105. Optus is working out the student discount after 20% off promotion(125(100%-20%)(100%-10%)=$90+$15 phone=$105), it is not calulating at this way $125-$12520%-%12510%=$87.5+$15 phone=$102.5, due to it is cheaper.

It is sad. Not a real bargain.

  • My cheapish $40 plan for $30 just expired. Pity they wont discount the 40gig for $40 plan down to something like $32.
Guess I'll jumpship to Telechoice or dodo as I want to stay around the $30 price point.

    *** PSA ***

Make sure you read the fine print. NO MORE FREE MOBILE STREAMING ie; Netflix. It is an additional $5 add-on. Looks like this applies for both BYO SIM and Phone with Plans. VERY SNEAKY.

I tried getting my contract break fee waivered (2 weeks left from a 24 month contract) as I'm keen to get the BYO SIM $40. But they've said no. Nice one floptus

    • Try someone else on chat. 2 weeks is next to nothing really. Threaten to leave.

      • I tried twice. Even politely requested to speak to their manager, was ignored the request first time and second time I'm sure they didn't even bother, just made me wait and then said they've spoken to their manager.

Given I am currently on a $130 plan and been with Optus for 15 years… I'm stumped. Anyway it's only a $10 discount but it's the principal. Why should I be penalised for wanting to sign up for a time-sensitive promotion.

Not sure if this would be honoured, but I was looking at the $50 sim plan (discounted to $40) and hit the upgrade button then on the page where they ask for your info, I played around with the URL and changed the "externalPackageId" part of the ID, increasing and decreasing the value and found the $30, and $40 plans at 20% off. Might be worth considering if you're after one of those plans at a discount. Again not sure if Optus would honour it as it's not a deal listed on their website officially! Good luck to those that decide to try.

EDIT: to add, I was looking at upgrading my current optus plan. It seems to only work on that page? Sorry I wish I could be more helpful

    • Changethe 41 to a 39… Clever

    • Wow, nice trick!! thanks for sharing.

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to signup, then change ownership after 60 days? In our household, the flybuys account is in my name but want to get this plan for my partner
